Just Give Me 10 Days - Round 214
Replies

This is going to be hard for me but one my goals this round is to not weigh myself until day 10. This round my challenge is three part.
#1 Do not weigh myself. It'll be hard for me right now but I recognize that I should step away from it.
#2 Strength train or yoga every day, if only for 5 minutes. Strength training should cause the muscles to fill up and would show a few pounds of weight gain. I want to avoid the potential disheartenment there so that's why I'm banning the scale for the first nine days of this round.
#3 No added sugar or processed foods or alcohol. Since round one of February was so successful in this department (I lost 5 pounds! ) , I've decided to keep it up for all of February. I'm actually excited about this part of the plan.
I'll still check in every day about how it's going because everyone's work here is helping motivate me.
My plan for Valentine's Day: I told my husband I only want chocolate that's 70% cocoa or higher. Making chocolate covered strawberries together is my favorite Valentine's activity so this year they'll be dark chocolate
Wish me luck!
2/10 129.0, end of last round and end of weighing until 2/20.

64 yr young F, 5ft 4 Round 213 (my 145th). As always, thank you. @QuiltingJaine.
Goal for this round; again I'm not looking at a specific number, instead I need to aim to cut out chocolate & biscuits 'cuz I can't stop at 1 or even 2, it starts me on a downward addictive spiral, I want to avoid them both for the whole 10 days, it’s just 10 days, they will still be there after that!! So that and any loss is my aim. No binges, keep within calories & macros.Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, It’s taken me 75 rounds to achieve my under 130 target; back to maintenance again!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 130. Healthy life style has to be a permanent way of life.

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS: One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

SW: 146.2 / -0.4 pounds last round
Hi All - Robyn here in SE Virginia. I'll be doing mostly strength and Pilates workouts during this round while continuing to recover from foot surgery. My primary goals are: 1) no unplanned snacking; and, 2) eating dinner by 7:30. I WILL be more disciplined this round!
Day/Weight/Comment
2/11: 145 - Yesterday, I made a very healthy smoothie for lunch with a banana, peanut butter, etc. It was so delicious and satisfying; however, I was starving by 3ish and got into various snacks - several small handfuls of cashews, 7 low fat Triscuits, and a frozen yogurt bar. Instead of just giving up like I normally do, I logged the food, which, with breakfast and lunch totaled up to my calories for the day. For dinner, I thought about skipping it but didn't want DH to eat alone, so I made a spinach salad and ate 1/3 (instead of 1/2) of a small frozen pizza. Oh, and instead of the high calorie IPA I had planned for dinner, I drank a couple low calorie NA beers. I also worked out for 45 minutes yesterday doing weights and Pilates. I was very surprised with my weight this morning. Down over a pound from yesterday. A little bit of discipline paid off. I WILL be more disciplined this round.

My plan for Valentine's Day: I told my husband I only want chocolate that's 70% cocoa or higher. Making chocolate covered strawberries together is my favorite Valentine's activity so this year they'll be dark chocolate nd end of weighing until 2/20.
@shmmm3 Great idea for Valentine's day! Regarding the not weighing, when I worked in the office many years ago (I work from the home office now), I was able to sign up for Weight Watchers at work, which was great. We met weekly in the office during lunch. I lost the weight I wanted and kept it off for years. The WW leader made us all promise not to weigh more than once a week. That worked well for me. I think that sometimes when I weigh every day and have a good weight-loss day, I reward myself the next day with food. My goal is NOT to do that this round, i.e. reward myself with food. For now I do plan to weigh every day. I'm obsessed! lol4 -
Another round friends!!! I'm really enjoying checking in with all of you every morning as part of my motivation routine...so far it's working again (I used these 10 day challenges years ago and should have started back much sooner). Hubby and I have a trip to Mexico booked at the end of March, we missed having the big celebrations we wanted for our 25th anniversary and both of our 50th birthdays over the worst of the pandemic so this will be our make up trip. I'd like to get down below 170 before we go...and then hop back on here when we get back to get down to my ultimate target.

2/11 - 178.0 - lighter walk yesterday, saved some calories for dinner as both boys were out and I made risotto with lemon trout and green beans for hubby and I for a nice date dinner. The risotto is a bit of a calorie bomb but worth it every now and then. Stuck to one serving of risotto but had more wine than I should have.

02/11 - 178.6
02/12 - DNW - updating now because I'm going to be traveling, leaving around 5am. I don't drink a lot of water when I'm on the road so as not to stop so often. I will be tracking what I eat because I'm taking my own food with me for the day. I'll be at the hospital seeing my MIL, so no exercise, unless you count walking in and out.
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

Day, Weight, Comment
2/11 - 162.3 - Very slight jump up. It's a combination of things, I'm sure. Despite my probiotics, I'm sure they are not eliminating all dairy bloat. We had homemade pepperoni pizza last night. My first attempt! We all agreed better (and cheaper) than frozen. But whew, cheese. Always gets me. Also, TMI, didn't really happen yesterday, but on the normal schedule today so all good there. Not sure today's plans other than my workout schedule says to do 15-30 minutes minimum of fun movement activity. I'll either walk the dogs or do a yoga practice before bed depending on what ends up happening today. I have pre-logged what I know of for tomorrow (Galentine's Brunch then Superbowl Party). Despite my plans to make a best-effort, I'm using today as as super healthy day to help balance out what I anticipate as a super not healthy day tomorrow. And if it ends up being somewhat healthy, that much better for me! We are leaving at halftime anyway as BF has to be at the airport by 4-430 Monday morning for a business trip. More on those plans later, but I've planned my path that will be the most likely to provide success. Not sure if I'll have time to check in tomorrow, depends on when I wake up vs when I need to leave to get to brunch on time. I'll be back Monday, though!

It’s a sunny Saturday here in ne Indiana. All that bright light after a lot of gloom lifts my spirits, especially since I eat more when it’s gray and cold outside. Have a lovely Saturday, all!

Hi, I'm Charissa, ready to go for Round 214/5.
I love these 10 days at a time rounds! Very doable. Better than a week as you tend to follow the same up and downs per week and it doesn't always show your progress. Also being able to refocus after 10 days is great! And boy do I need to refocus this round
Had a tough round 213 with lots of celebrations and dinners out. This round starts with a birthday party, yet another dinner and then Superbowl. Monday - no reason to not be back on track!
