Kim - I care so much for you and know you will make the choices that your best self knows. Sometimes life sucks, it just does. We just have to accept it and we don't have to feel good about it, or pretend we like it, or we are somehow rising above it. Our feelings are our feelings.
I send you warm support as you navigate all this. Your peace of mind is on my mind a lot. Lots of love.

Lanette - Yes, I just buy the ones in the supermarket. I do have a water reserve plant pot that I bought from Amazon that I keep it in. Some have lasted years! If the temperature drops outside below freezing, I do move it onto the worktop for the night, as we don't have the heating on at night. My current one was a bit too hothouse as it was bought around Christmas and most of it wilted pretty quickly, but the two remaining stalks are healthy and I hope to see more growth in the warmer weather.1 -
I am doing this Happiness calendar for March. Feel free to copy or simply use it if you’d like!

RVRita1. Set an intention to live with awareness and kindness. I intend to live with more awareness and kindness every day.
2. Notice three things you find beautiful in the outside world.
Sky, sand and ocean
3. Start today by appreciating your body and that you are alive.
Yesterday's 54 km bicycle ride and 5 km walk on the beach ...

I do box breathing at some point just about every day.
8. Eat mindfully. Appreciate the taste, texture and smell of your food.

Many times.
10. Get outside and notice how the weather feels on your face.

Thank you for all the birthday greetings!
I'm on Day 2 of my birthday.

Kim, {{{HUGS}}} You definitely have to do what you are comfortable with! Like Tracey, I'm blown away by the cost of medical care in the US. And you are absolutely right, your mom should not have to spend the rest of her life cold or hungry.
Rori, always such a pleasure when you pop in. I love how you are embracing this next stage of your life!
Allie, I hope you enjoy your trip! If I'm remembering correctly, this is for a wedding?
Machka, looks like you are truly enjoying your well deserved time off!
Well, I was ill on Tues and Wed, took a Covid test which was negative, but as Ginny pointed out it can take a few days of feeling unwell before the positive test will happen. Thankfully (??) I still felt pretty bad Wed evening so bailed on looking after our granddaughter. Really did not want her, her brother or their parents coming down with whatever I had! Didn't sleep Tues night, but slept like a rock Wed night! Had forgotten to turn off my alarm so when it went off at 7:30 I did wake up, but only long enough to turn off the alarm and go back to sleep. Finally emerged around 11 am. I thought it was probably around 9 as I had woken up briefly a few times and then didn't realize that I had fallen asleep again. Needless to say, I feel so much better today, but still not 100%. Will be taking it easy for a few days yet.
Hugs for those needing them, congrats to those celebrating and welcome to the newbies!

Evelyn - so glad you are feeling better. Sleep is amazing, isn't it!
Radio 4 BBC , (available on the Sounds app), has been running their Book of the Week, this week on 'Travellers to Unimaginable Lands', by Dasha Kiper. It's about Alzheimers and their care givers. I think it's interesting for all care givers, because it is so good about the feelings of the carer. Definitely worth a listen, and I will be buying the book for my Kindle.
Like Barbie, I am a great fan of uplifting and informative podcasts. They have become a big part of my life, and I nearly always hear something to surprise, educate, and support me. This week's Dr Chatterjee is about how continuous, repetitive stress can make you sick, affecting the heart, the immune system, inflammatory response etc. This week's Bewildered was about how accepting negative feelings about people is important for spiritual integrity and a greater peace. The truth shall set you free.
I need continual reminders about these things to keep me steady. I feel warmed and held by the ones I choose to listen to. They help me in my walk through life. I love Dan Harris, Barb knows Best, Esther Perel, and my favourite, We Can Do Hard Things. They help me feel less alone in this struggle we call life.
Love you all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx2 -

Kim, imagine all of us together in a cozy kitchen, talking quietly. Someone brings you a cup of tea. A towel warm from the dryer is wrapped around your shoulders without a word, and warm socks for your feet. A hand briefly lights on your shoulder. Your crones are here. Can you feel all of us?10

Karen I second that !!1

Kim - So many gentle hugs headed your way. I woke up thinking of you.1

Heather - thank you as well for the basil tips. If I see one at the store that looks healthy I'll take a chance. I'm going to check Spotify for some of those podcasts you mentioned. Already listen to Dr. Chatterjee.
Rori - always fun to see you pop in and let us know what you are up to. Your roommate is learning a lot about the "older generation" lol. Fun concerts and cool job! We are seeing things green up out here as well, some folks are mowing. Just hope we don't get a surprise snowstorm like we did last year.
Kim - I know you are facing a lot with your mom, and thank you for sharing your hard journey with us. It inspired me to dig out my Medicare supplemental insurance plan last night and make sure it covers the skilled nursing co-pay. It does, whew.
I need to hard boil eggs for kidney bean salad, a childhood favorite with kidney beans, chopped egg, celery, a little diced pickle and a spoon of mayo to glue it all together.
And work on my to-do list for the yard and garden. Looks like a bit of sunshine this afternoon and tomorrow, and I'm excited to be able to get out and get some things done! I really love working outside and doing as much as I can.
Make it a fabulous Friday!

Good morning ladies!
Rebecca of Whidbey, how are you feeling today? Did you find a therapist who suits you? What are you cooking today?
Allie, so sorry for your losses.
Kim, hugs and strength to you!
Rosemarie, more hugs as you grieve.
Evelyn glad you are feeling better.
Rori Wow the Boss!
I grew Basil outside in a pot in Fairfax VA in the summer. It likes steamy weather. I remember the instructions said to mist it, and I thought they were crazy to think I had time for that.
It's weigh-in day for me. I lost 2.1 pounds! Yay! And two inches off my waist! Yay! I must be doing something right.
I read a success story last night where a woman maintained a 500 calorie daily deficit for a year with amazing results. I'm closer to 300 I think, depending on how close 1100 calories is to my basal metabolic rate. The numbers really aren't accurate enough to be compared to another person but the inaccuracies are consistent for me. So even if all my calorie numbers are low, say by 200, it is still a consistent plan that gets me two pounds a week lost. Yay!
More taxes with my dad today. I get to call the Social Security Administration. I think we are getting closer to the end, though.
Have a marvelous day!

Kim ... count me with the others who are thinking about you and your situation ...
My own mother just messaged me to tell me about the fight she had with maintenance about the cleanliness of her apartment. She's mad at maintenance , the housekeeper and me as well since I keep telling her you get more bees with honey! I'll call her later when the dust settles ... or in this case ... is cleaned up!

Sitting in DH’s room. He is currently sitting on his wheelchair at 10:07 am Illinois time. I would like to see him standing up and working up to walking again. Keeping my fingers crossed and sending prayers for improvement.
As for MFP—I’m frustrated with them for blocking my photo of Schooner AGAIN.
