Had an early morning dentist appointment this morning- 8AM. Didn't sleep well last night because right before bed I realized that I didn't get a confirmation call and worried I had the wrong date(she said Friday when she scheduled it but I just assumed it was today and not next Friday). Tried to call to double check before I left the house but they don't open until 8- Got there and it was today.
Third time putting a build up on one of the teeth I broke. Glad it was a build up and not another crown but even happier that it is done. Hopefully, third times a charm.
Got back to the house as dh was getting ready to go to his mom's. Asked if I wanted to go with him- No thanks!! Would rather sit and have my tea. I will go with him to Safeway when he is done.
May do a walk around the wetlands if the rain holds off- rained hard earlier. Alexa says more rain today, Dh's phone says not until tonight- who knows.

I have been making a simple one with just a little pesto and rice vinegar. It has been really good.3 -
Well, I did day 11 instead of 10 but both are great and I do them daily. (Get outside and notice how the weather feels on your face.
11. Stay fully present while drinking your cup of tea or coffee. In the process of doing that right now!).
My mother is in an assisted living facility where she has an apartment with a bedroom, living room, kitchen, and of course a full bathroom. She pretty much takes care of herself. Hers is income based. It costs her the majority of her Social Security. So almost $3000 a month.
My shoulder and elbow and still hurting a lot. I guess no more weights for me. Maybe yoga too. IDK, I’ll have to try slowly. At least walking is still an option! Walking and no more hard seltzer and my weight ‘should’ go down.

How about home made vinegrettes? (SP) You can control how much oil and salt with that. Oil, vinegar, and seasonings to taste. You can use flavored vinegars for variety.

Another day of my dad and I dancing around the taxes. He is in the basement doing a puzzle. I should go down and get him, but I don't want to do taxes either. I don't want to be the adult. The problem is that I need to go down there and exercise before too long. I already did my laundry and I have leftover meatloaf for dinner so that will be quick and easy. Hmmm. This won't get any easier next week.

Happy Birthday Debbie and Machka!
Geraniums and dragon begonias are my favorites, Margaret! Lantana are so stunning though. I think I have to plant some of those this year. What kind of Lantana do you have? My problem is sun. My garden is mostly shaded, but I suppose I can push it further into the sun "this" direction if I really wanted to.
Heather those paintings are awesome!
How wonderful of your sister to share that with you, Rebecca.
Great writing ideas, Rita. Thanks.
Isn't that the truth, Tracey? You just feel like the whole world should stop with you and yet everyone else just keeps moving on.
Oh gosh, Kim, that's terrible. I mean it's wonderful that Mom is doing so well and working so hard to get better, but terrible about the emotional and financial strain.
I'm so sorry that SMiles isn't feeling well, Allie.
9. Take a full breath in and out before you reply to others... isn't that the truth!

Yes, I feel honored that she confides in me, regarding her grief about losing Clair. Sharing the process with another helps the wounds heal, if ever they really do heal. More about how to not "rip the band aid off every day. Her and I have gotten closer. There was a time during her last marriage, when I would call her and it was like talking to an insurance salesman. Very awkward, dry, and she'd say stuff like, " I was just about to call you", nonsense. Found out over the years she was very mad at Lee for "taking me away from family". Its a civilian mindset, and none of my immediate family has ever been military. I'm still trying to reassure her that I followed my sailor everywhere on my own free will. Not dragged.

10. Get outside and notice how the weather feels on your face. The wind driven rain might make this a challenge…
Just skimmin’ a bit, will update stats later.
Debbie thanks for the Safeway card tip! My heart hurts for you, and even a little for your DH. For him to be so insensitive to others’ pain must mean he’s very alone.
Machka Between your advocacy for your DH and for yourself, could you hang out a shingle “Machka, experienced patient advocate” ? Well done!
Lisa hope you don’t have to wait long for that Xray or workup for the new rX. At Joe’s pre-colonscopy consultation Monday the Dr. heard a heart murmur (first time any Dr. has put a stethoscope on Joe since we moved here in 2017.) Won’t do the colonoscopy until he sees results of echocardiogram. Next available echocardiogram appointment? May 2! :noway:
Welcome Joy in Alberta and thank you and your DH for being organic farmers. Much appreciated. I look forward to enjoying your Ireland trip vicariously
Kim (gentle hugs) Unsolicited advice: Please value your sanity enough to say fooey about the money and let your mom’s house pay for her care, nearby but not inside your home. Reverse mortgage:?
Just my two cents.
Michele if you really want to extend your FL stays, would Vince consider getting a PO Box in NC?
Lanette love the dancing like Tom Cruse image. Your potting shed project is inspiring me to dedicate at least an hour Saturday before dog group to similar activities. Thanks!
Rita 9993 steps? Well done! ((hugs)) about the changes you see in your DH.
Heather yours to Kim. Thank you. Mama lived with us for her last two months and had it not been for Joe, we wouldn’t have lasted two days with each other.
Only through pg 31 but breakfast’s eaten and it's time to move.

Rebecca of Whidbey, how are you feeling today? Did you find a therapist who suits you? What are you cooking today?
Allie, so sorry for your losses.
Kim, hugs and strength to you!
Rosemarie, more hugs as you grieve.
Evelyn glad you are feeling better.
Rori Wow the Boss!
I grew Basil outside in a pot in Fairfax VA in the summer. It likes steamy weather. I remember the instructions said to mist it, and I thought they were crazy to think I had time for that.
It's weigh-in day for me. I lost 2.1 pounds! Yay! And two inches off my waist! Yay! I must be doing something right.
I read a success story last night where a woman maintained a 500 calorie daily deficit for a year with amazing results. I'm closer to 300 I think, depending on how close 1100 calories is to my basal metabolic rate. The numbers really aren't accurate enough to be compared to another person but the inaccuracies are consistent for me. So even if all my calorie numbers are low, say by 200, it is still a consistent plan that gets me two pounds a week lost. Yay!
More taxes with my dad today. I get to call the Social Security Administration. I think we are getting closer to the end, though.
Have a marvelous day!

Awe Annie, not yet. I have a doctors appointment on 14th will decide then. It's referrals or maybe they have an office at the on base clinic. Something the doctor has to initiate. I did tell my Navy moms groups moderators how I was feeling. The story from on here about me attending a hang nails support group with me being one that's lost their nail made sense to them. I am on a completely different shelf grief wise. I will still be one of the moderators, but will not insert my situation into the threads. First its not fair to me, and also its not fair to them. For example someone hasn't gotten a text from their sailor on a ship in a week. I come on, say I'm so sorry, its a tough thing. Then I say I haven't heard from mine since June 2020. (Its not a contest Rebecca, you don't have the right to make the thread about you). So I can support in a general sense but for grief that I feel sometime I will stick to this group, husband, eldest sister, and hopefully a therapist to make sense of it all. My support system is ready.
Today I just had a nice glazed lemon pound cake muffin I made the other day. Tasted like an old-fashioned buttermilk donut.💖. I just descaled my Keurig coffee maker last night so my coffee is back to its yummiest!
I bought a 1/2 of a head of cabbage on Tuesday so I will shred some of that and make some Cole slaw. I plan on making some beer battered fish fillets into a fish taco deal. I use those flour tortillas street taco size, put a slice of havarti cheese melted, and press the fish on it. Yrs I use cheese as glue for things. 😜 Then the Cole slaw on top. Should be good!
Congrats on the weight loss! I have been staying fairly close to about 1500 calories a day. Its fairly easy to guesstimate when I eat one meal, a snack or dessert. I try to weigh in most Sundays, but had taken a break since the bathroom where I weigh in was being repaired. In the intermittent fasting world they say that weighing in a lot isn't recommended. So I use lots of other ways of measuring how I am doing. How my clothes, ring, and shoes fit, is just as important.
Hugs

Today balanced the checkbook before I had my coffee. To the penny. Why that makes me feel so accomplished, I don't know, but it does. Sets my whole day.
Need to write some pen pals, do some crops words and sudoku puzzles. Put my clear shower curtain up to give away so monitor that online thing. Need to call my middle sister to see how the estimate went with her organizing converting her heat from oil to gas. They have snow on the grow and 2nd time they have run out of oil. 4th day without heat. Sad sad situation. For her its nothing. Things I take for granted like my heat coming on, the ability to sit or stand in a shower, is not a thing for her.

Kim--Sending prayers and hugs!.
Katla--So glad you are getting your stuff to help you feel more at home.
Rori--Sounds like you are staying busy. I love live music and this next Tuesday night we are going to a concert at the college with a local group. They play bluegrass, Americana, folk and country. Nice way to relax for an evening.
I am working the 6a=6p shift today and then off the weekend. Tomorrow we are going to Omaha to a big car show. O'reilly's where DH works is one of the sponsors. I will get in a lot of walking. Tonight after work I need to bake 2 cakes to drop at church in the morning for a funeral. Then Sunday have church and get ready for another work week.

Hello, All. Been reading and enjoying the posts. Barbara thank you for the kind words. Farming is certainly not an easy way to make a living but when you do it as a lifestyle it can be rewarding. We started farming over 48 years ago with a mixed farming operation (cattle, hogs, chickens, grain) then transitioned to just grain as we got older. Decided to go totally organic about 15 years ago but had always used a limited amount of chemicals/fertilizer from the start. Lots of paperwork with being certified organic as traceability of the grain sold is essential. I never realized the extent until we got into it. Traceability means you have to show a paper trail from the time the seed goes into the ground to the time it is sold (our grain crops are mostly wheat and barley). So when you buy anything in the grocery stores or markets that is certified organic, you can be assured that it is truly chemical free.
Hopefully I'm not boring too many with my farm talk. Actually my true passion now is traveling. Didn't think I would be back to overseas trips after the pandemic but got a call a couple of months back from my daughter-in-laws parents (they are both in their early 80's) and asked if I would be interested in Ireland (an escorted coach tour). They are in a different province so we will meet up at Toronto airport and fly together to Dublin. Nine day trip for me but they are extending their time 4 more days to cover northern Ireland. So looking forward to it.6 -
I know where that Melody Beattie quote came from....awesome. Just joined yesterday and I am fighting it all the way because I have been dieting my whole life...all 59 years. No kidding, I grew up on diet soda when soda only came in glass bottles and have the scar to prove it when I dropped my soda on concrete at the age of 2! I'm tired of being addicted to sugar substitute, even eurithrotol doesn't do it for me. But, I will play nice and be a good sport. I applaud all of you who do the hard work each day by showing up and giving it your best.

Well I was embarrassed enough about my whining that I stood up and called the Social Security Administration, and the tax forms we need will be mailed to us. Yay! Huge advance in our tax process.
Next is yoga, then after (my parents) dinner is my aerobic walking. I've been very careful with my knee today - wearing the brace to carry laundry - so it should be fine.
Annie in Delaware who much appreciates you all.5 -
Got to the school early so I could walk my hour around the wetlands and to my surprise- no school. The daycare mom thought I knew there was no school. Nope, not an actual holiday and looking at the calendar that I printed, I don't see the different shading on today's date. Text the mom and she told me she stayed home. Sorry.
Wish I had known. Would not have rushed to get back from shopping this morning. We could have done it all and the bank in one shot.
Heading back out in a bit as soon as dh is ready- he is painting a model that he is repairing for a guy. He 3D printed it, the guy loved it but when he was having some work done in his apartment, the workers broke it. Sent it back so dh can fix it along with another model the guy bought from someone else that he wants dh to make look better.
Rain is holding off for now but who knows for this evening. Want to get back home and then just stay here.

OH I love my dragonwing begonias, Margaret! They're my absolute faves!!! They just make me HAPPY! But those Lantana are so darned cute. Makes me want to try them in containers and see if I have enough sunlight towards the southwest side of my house. We have a lot of trees in the back, but that's just about where they end.
Katla, I'm so thrilled for you to have some of your favorite things with you again.
No, I get it, Kim! The cost of health and facilities care in the US is horrendous! I can't BELIEVE what we spend on my mom's care. (well, what she spends) And thankfully, she has quite a bit in savings, so she has a lot to live on. But my gawd, they gouge you for everything. I couldn't believe what I was reading about the lesser costs of care in Canada (I'm assuming?), Tracey.
I could never have my mom living with us either, though. And not because she's anything like what some of you have discribed. One, I am not a caregiver. I'm just not and I know that. But more than that, we're far too much alike and we butt heads after spending too much time together. I've put in my time taking care of her in the past, when she lived on her own. A week here and there when she'd hurt herself. By the end of my time, I was always in tears from holding my tongue after she would lash out about some perceived error on my part.
Yes Rebecca, civilians have a hard time understanding "not being dragged". I think I've shared before how even Anne's sister, Lacy, never understood how she couldn't just "come home for birthday parties" like her college girlfriends did. I mean, it's not like she was overseas at the time. She just didn't get that you don't just walk away from your post even when your post is New Jersey! LOL
SO ready for the weekend! Had the most wonderful lunch with a dear, old girlfriend yesterday. Susan did the same job as me, for another neighboring school district. She moved away several years ago, to South Dakota, but comes back a couple times a year for various reasons and we always try to get together. She called me at 9pm Wed night and said, "I know it's late, but..." and I said, "ABSOLUTELY!" We sat at Olive Garden and talked and talked and talked. I caught her up on all of our mutual friends who are still working or retired or whatever. Then we chatted about our families and we both have kids getting married this year. And we both give GREAT HUGS so I got a really good hug when she arrived and another before we left. OMGosh, those are amazing.
10. Get outside and notice how the weather feels on your face... REALLY?!? MN weather? Fine, I'll get some snleet on my face! Lovely!

Joy - please talk farm all you want. I'm an old farm kid from Indiana, we moved to the Pacific Northwest and due to my DH's failing health had to sell our farm about 15 years ago. We raised sheep, goats, hay. I really miss lambing season. Wasn't organic but we didn't use any chemicals in the hayfields and had quite a few customers.
And several of us in this group are trying to eat healthier which includes eating organic so the more info we have, the better.
That trip to Ireland sounds great. When is it again?

March Action for Happiness:1. Set an intention to live with awareness and kindness. I intend to live with awareness and kindness10. Get outside and notice how the weather feels on your face.I wasn’t looking forward to going outside this morning as we had snow overnight and it seemed very cold. However, the sun shone in a clear blue sky, and the wind had dropped right down again, and I spent time with my eyes closed feeling the heat on my face before I went into the centre for Latin Study.
2. Notice three things you find beautiful in the outside world.Trees silhouetted against the sky; the appearance of snowdrops in spring; the sound of waves breaking on the shore.
3. Start today by appreciating your body and that you are alive. I meditate on this each morning when I wake up, and am grateful for each new opportunity to have a good day.
4. Notice how you speak to yourself and choose to use kind words. Positive affirmations are very powerful. Be kind to yourself, always.
5. Bring to mind people you care about and send love to them. We chatted with our girls about other family members, and raised a glass to them.
6. Have a ‘no plans’ day and notice how that feels. I will do this tomorrow (7th)
7. Take three calm breaths at regular intervals during your day.Resisting the temptation to plan my day. Serendipity reigns today.
8. Eat mindfully. Appreciate the taste, texture and email of your food. ✔️
9. Take a full breath in and out before you reply to others. I’m a great advocate of deep breathing, and find this works well.11. Stay fully present while drinking your cup of tea or coffee.
12. Listen deeply to someone and really hear what they are saying.
13. Pause to watch the sky or clouds for a few minutes today.
14. Find ways to enjoy any chores or tasks that you do.
15. Stop. Breathe. Notice. Repeat regularly.
16. Get really absorbed with an interesting or creative activity.
17. Look around and spot three thing you find unusual or pleasant.
18. If you find yourself rushing, make an effort to slow down.
19. Appreciate nature around you wherever you are.
20. Focus on what makes you and others happy today.
21. Listen to a piece of music without doing anything else.
22. Notice something that is going well, even if today feels difficult.
23. Tune into your feelings, without judging or trying to change them.
24. Appreciate your hands and all the things they enable you to do.
25. Focus your attention on the good things you take for granted.
26. Choose too spend less times looking at screens today.
27. Cultivate a feeling of loving-kindness towards others today.
28. Notice when you are tired and take a break as soon as possible.
29. Choose a different route today and see
what you notice.
30. Mentally scan your body and notice what you are feeling.
31. Discover the joy in the simple things of life.3 -
Katla I wonder if you are running a security program that wipes out the MFP login credentials then the browser has saved the wrong login. That doesn't help fix it, but it may be what's happening.
It's raining here. I will do my yoga and my aerobic walking and hope to make it to bed early. I had an extra cup of tea with honey today. Hopefully not the beginning of a slide.

I rarely use regular dressing but when I do, I use a lot less than a serving. Many times I use less than half and add some extra rice vinegar. Other times I use things like pico de gallo or salsa. The last few days I had pesto I wanted to use up and warmed that then added the rice vinegar. Didn't take much of the pesto to give the whole salad a lot of great flavor.
The one salad dressing I will splurge and have is the Asian dressing3 -
