    Day/Weight/Comment
5/2: 131.6 - Lots of carbs yesterday. Good workouts and so-so sleep.
5/3: 131.6 - Heading out today for our backpacking trip, which will hopefully stop me from snacking as much, particularly after dinner. Yesterday was okay, less carb-heavy than the day before.
    5/4: - DNW - Backpacking
    5/5: - DNW - Backpacking
5/6: 132.1 - A little under 25 miles of backpacking over 3 days. High calorie/salty meals to go along with it but under calories. Back home and back to normal workouts and eating.
5/7: 131.0 - That’s a little more like it. Had a good workout, and ate well within my calorie goals despite all the baking I did (waaaay too many leftover bananas that needed using up).
5/8: 130.7 - Got my workouts in, ate well and slept so-so.
5/9: 129.9 - Hmm, not sure why the drop. Normal workouts, eating and sleep.
5/10: 129.2 - Ate under calories because was having slight tummy ache last night. Got my workouts in and so-so sleep.
5/11: 130.5 - Good workout, ate well, slept well.

Total round weight loss/gain to date from EO last round: - 0.7 pounds

We ALL have good rounds and bad but that is part of life. Don’t stay away, stay accountable. We don’t judge, we support.-Jpv,2/13/19

What we need to succeed is a sustainable way of eating, not a DIET we go on and off.

People say keto/LCHF isn’t sustainable. I’ve been doing it for over 6 years with amazing results!

This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE.

We are unstoppable not because we do not have failures but because we continue on despite them. - paraphrase of original quote by Beau Taplin

Up and down - just riding the waves of life. 🌊 🏄‍♀️ (My new mantra-3/19/22)

"Do or do not. There is no try." -Yoda

    SW RND 222 128.0 AW 127.75

5/2 128.0 No access to scale after TMI
5/3 127.0 Had gluten free toast and gluten free (brown rice flour) pasta yesterday. Lots of carbs but waiting to see if my knees start to hurt. Tonight maybe Mexican restaurant with family. DGD#2 flies back to Iowa tomorrow.
5/4 128.5 Not surprised. Last night’s Mexican restaurant CHIPS followed high carb pasta from the night before. I woke up at 3:12AM and couldn’t get back to sleep. DGD leaves at noon.
5/5 128.0 DGD finally got home about 1:30AM Iowa time. Delayed flight from LAS to DEN caused her to miss connection and she had to wait several hours for the (rebooked) new flight which was also late. Then an hour drive to her home after waiting for her suitcase. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

*** A word to anyone flying in/out of Las Vegas. Apparently they are working on a runway until late July and this is causing delays on arrivals and departures.

    5/6 126.5
5/7 127.0 Yesterday was a good day so maybe the vinegar salt. At least I haven’t been awakened by foot cramps the last two nights!
5/8 128.5 Zing Zang Bloody Mary??
5/9 127.5 I spent all day at the elementary school and I am finding it exhausting and I’m not even dealing with the kiddos! Does anyone discipline their children anymore?
5/10 127.5 I didn’t sleep worth a darn last night, my right shoulder is killing me and I can’t get it comfortable. Going to WF this morning and school after. I have a couple of projects I need to do at home today also.
5/11 128.5 !!$&@%#!! Off to get my nails done.

    05/07 -194.0- (Trend weight 193.0)

05/08 -193.4- (Trend weight 193.2) It was a quiet day yesterday. I was exhausted after DGS left yesterday. 3 days of babysitting including overnights was tough on this old gal. I ate a bit too much at lunch yesterday with my daughter but I made up for much of it the rest of the day. No exercise. Layed on the couch most of the day trying to get my gumption back after minding my grandson! Much to do today!

05/09 -194.2- (Trend weight 193.3) I travel today for my 4 month dental cleanings for myself and son. We’ll have a late restaurant lunch and do some shopping while out of town. I’ll try to choose carefully. Tomorrow is an art gallery and concert at the high school my grandchildren attend. I’ll be spending the evening with them. So many foodie things this week! No TMI yesterday or this morning. Otherwise a good day yesterday. I went to the school to walk with my son (like mall walking but no mall here). I ate within my budget.

05/10 -195.1- (Trend weight 193.6) My 63rd Birthday! Much planned over the next couple of days.

    05/11 -xxxxx- (Trend weight xxxxx)

I was less excited. Lipid panel was less than stellar. This year, I have been losing weight with CICO, and no consideration for macros. In contrast, in 2021, I had a lot higher volume of fruits and vegetables in my diet. Bummer. I was hoping to see that body weight and exercise was my cholesterol control.

    Cholesterol:
have you heard of Forks Over Knives diet?

My cholesterol has always been high ~250-325,
with high HDL and low triglycerides.
I used to run a lot/eat low calories/tried a bunch of stuff to try to lower my cholesterol without drugs, without much success, only going down 5-15 points, while killing myself.

Then last year, I tried FoK for 5.5weeks DILIGENTLY, no cheating.
And my cholesterol went down by ?90 points to 191. I've never been under 200 without the aid of drugs.

FoK is all about the vegetables and fruit.
It's basically vegan (no meat/dairy) but the kicker is no oil/sugar/salt.

wow! Vegan, with no oil/sugar/salt. How do they cook the vegetables?

While running around today, I've been listening to podcasts on the subject of lipid panel numbers. From what I was hearing, I'm not sure why all those numbers are even thrown at us. Sounds like only certain ones have much meaning. I'll write a post a little later, when I have more free time AND finish listening to the latest podcast. I may have to rewind a bunch. Are you still doing FoK?

@SModa61 My LDL has always been just over 200. The doctor asked about 2 years ago if I wanted to take a low dose med and I declined. The last time, last month, it is still over 200 but he said my HDL is high so not to worry about the LDL. WTH?!? I wonder if any of them have any idea what they’re talking about. My opinion only.

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS: One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.
    • Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
    • A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
    • Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
    • The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
    • Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
    • The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
    • When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
    • Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.
Stick with the process. It DOES work! But it does take time, effort, and most of all, patience!

    Are you still doing FoK?

You can high-heat stir-fry, add a bit of water/veggie-stock to unstick it, and continue cooking.

It was really difficult, since my husband and 2 kids don't generally like vegetables, let alone it be the main food, so no, I'm not on FoK still.

    My dilemma is:
    - to be skinny/heart-unhealthy or
    - to be plump/but heart healthy

    Because I am very reactive/addicted to carbs/starches.
So in order for me to lose weight, my diet is completely OPPOSITE of FoK.
Without carbs, I'm not hungry and I don't have any cravings.

My goal is to get down to my goal weight,
and then add back in more and more veggies, but still low on fruits/starches/carbs.

I am about 12 kg along the way to lose 32 kg. I use multiple tape measurements (cm) around my body because they aren't affected by salt intake. Apparently I've been trying to lose weight since September 2012, the last time I was at goal weight. Let's see if stopping eating sugary food is going to change things.

    Heaviest ever 1st Jan 2021, goal+31.8 kg

March 2022, started measuring system, sum of all measurements is 867.0 cm
    ...
    Round 221 801.0

Here are my measurements, bolded means a column number has reduced by 0.5 cm from the previous bolded number, and the number is used to sum the total measurement

    100.5 92.5 102.5 56.5 46.5 56.5 46.5 101.5 94.0 103.5 4th May
    100.5 91.5 101.5 58.0 47.0 56.0 46.0 101.5 93.0 102.0 5th
    100.0 90.5 100.5 57.0 47.5 56.0 47.5 101.0 92.0 101.0 6th
    101.0 91.0 102.0 57.0 48.0 56.5 46.5 102.0 92.5 102.5 7th
    100.0 90.0 100.0 56.0 46.5 55.5 45.0 101.0 91.5 100.5 8th
    100.0 90.5 102.0 56.0 48.0 56.0 46.0 101.0 92.0 102.5 9th
    100.5 90.0 101.0 56.5 46.5 56.0 46.0 101.5 91.5 101.5 10th

Total is 792.5 cm, a loss from the previous round. This round went really well, let's see if the next round goes just as well.
