Hi all. Just curious....where is everyone from? I'm from Washington, DC, living in the heart of downtown with my 2 furry felines and the hubby of almost 20 years.
I live on the coast of Northern Ireland, near Belfast, where I was born, Ex teacher, married for 56 years to my best friend. We have 2 daughters, and 3 adult grands.
Heather: Good to see that you are listening to your body. Like you, I take time to enjoy all the joys that each day brings. I choose to do what pleases me a lot of the time. Increased time has indeed widened and deepened my love of life.
Yesterday we were delighted with the garden our group went to visit. The scent of roses was evident everywhere. I had never seen such a profusion and variety in a private garden before.
The owner had such enthusiasm for her plants. It was a relatively small plot, but she had winding paths which were edged by a profusion of plants in every inch of space. Garden sculptures were much in evidence. I was so enthralled that I completely forgot to take any photos.
We chatted with her after the others had left, and discovered that her father was DH’s dentist, so she has invited us back anytime to wander at our leisure. We may take her up on it.
🤗 🤗 🤗 and 🙏🏻 🙏🏻 🙏🏻 to whoever needs them.
Good to see so many new members.

Heather and Terri-While I don't have the extra time you do I am making myself take a bit more. Since I am an early riser I have started mediation and stretches in the morning followed by a sunrise walk (son told me it is good for melatonin levels and you sleep better-I think he is right). I only go for 20-30 minutes then come home an quickly get ready for work. On this walk I don't use head phones-i just focus on sounds and smells and sight. It does mean I have to get lunch, etc. done ahead of time but it is worth it. I may not get to work until 8 instead of 7:30 but since I rarely take a lunch hour so it's all good. And yes-we must listen to our bodies.
Flea-congratulations on stable pics. That's what I am hoping for also. Hope the rest of the testing reinforces them.
Time to get dressed for work-need to hit the road by 8.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio4 -
Good morning ladies!
Flea, stable is great news!
Heather, sounds like your thigh needs a little rest. Glad to hear about your delight, I don't feel much of that anymore. One of the downsides of antidepressants on top of a serious type of personality. Moments of worry are far too common for me, and joy is rare even when I strive for it.

May I please have that photo of the leaf insect? I would prefer that you send it to me rather than taking a screen shot.
If that is agreeable, I’ll PM you my phone and you can text it to me.

p.s. 😍 Your recent coloring 😍.
There is a coloring club here. I might go once to see who is in it, but I may prefer to color as meditation rather than socialization.
Did you get my PM and did you check out the colouring club?

(((hugs))) to those who need them.
Hunter went home last night absolutely TUCKERED OUT! I think everyone knew his name. They all sure loved him. He even went to class with one kid (with the teacher's permission). smh.
Commencing the LAST student day of the school year... of course, they're all going to be out on field trips today. Going to be very quiet around the building today.

Last two days of travel have been wonderful days with my sister and my dog. We are talking lots and laughing. We stop often to look at all the scenic views and sometimes not so scenic views. It’s a special time together. I’m grateful we don’t have to hurry and very grateful that my sister and I will be together to spread 1/2 of Jack’s ashes in Colorado. It feels good to be in process doing Jack’s wishes.
Barbara, said hi to Twin Falls for you. What a lovely place.
Today will work our way towards Moab. Not sure how far we’ll get..

I have been enjoying coding during the first 2 days of the month. That's been really good.
Also the 25 flights of stairs a day.
2. Say positive things in your conversations with others.
Chatted with a work friend about our gardens first thing this morning.
Smiled and thanked people as usual.
BTW - thanking the bus driver at the end of a trip is a thing here.
3. Re-frame a worry and try to find a helpful way to think about it.
Where do I even start? A single worry?
There are so many worries rumbling away in the background but I try not to think about them or dwell on them.
I try to focus on the good days or even good moments.
4. Take a photo of something that brings you joy and share it.

6. Get out into green space and feel the joy that nature brings.
Every day!
But this week has been wintery so I haven't walked far at lunch.
7. Do something healthy that makes you feel good.
Climb, climb, climb, climb! This week I have climbed 109 flights of 20 stairs.
Plus walking.
8. Find joy in music: sing, play, dance, listen or share.
I listen to ABC Classic at work ... classical and related music. This week, the 10 am - 1 pm program has been featuring George Gershwin and I have been loving it!

Barbie: I'm stealing that music meme. I could have (maybe should have) written it. Thanks for sharing. So sorry to hear about Jake needing chemo. I am sending healing energy his way.
Machka: My DH was VERY responsive to music from his past so during the worst years of dementia, I had it on all the time. As he transitioned, the Beach Boys was playing in his room which was so apropos given he was a lifelong surfer and ocean lover.

I think it was actually more frustrating and scary for the bus driver! The bus was where it should be and I could have walked home (about 3 km) from where he asked us all for directions, but it was dark and cold and I didn't want to. However, the bus driver didn't know where he was supposed to go next.

Yes, antidepressants do flatten the feelings. As long as I feel calm, I'm good.

Flea ... Yay for "stable!"
DC ... I'm near Buffalo in Western New York. Married almost 39 years. Retired. Have two sons ... eldest who was 34 when he passed in 2021 and his brother, 25, who is currently living with us.
Heather ... I agree that the older I get and the more time I have, I can slow down and really appreciate LIFE. Annie ... Regardless of circumstances, I don't think we can strive for joy. Joy, for me, just comes when I least expect it and that's what makes it so unbelievably precious.
7. Do something healthy that makes you feel good. Eating a salad makes me feel righteous. Does that count?
8. Find joy in music: sing, play, dance, listen or share. This is something I really miss since losing my hearing. Nothing sounds right in the little hearing I have left, not even music I know well. I have a piano that I loved, but just recently I sat down to play and discovered everything sounded discordant. I've accepted a lot with this hearing loss thing, but that one really hurt.

Good morning, Ladies.
Flea congrats on the good ct results. I went through treatment 8 years ago and go through yearly tests. Last results showed cancer free.
Fire close to DS seems to be under control so happy to hear that. More fires have developed in northern Ontario though so it appears to be a continued battle in Canada. Such dry condtions. We are still under a total fire ban in our county.
Off to the vet this morning. Excited to hear how old Lucy is. Will post when I get back. Smoke filled skies here and very hot for the next few days. Had to run the A/C all night last night as it was still +26C at 11:00pm. Normally I like to shut it off in the evening and open windows....maybe just as well I kept everything closed given the smoke this morning.

I’ve heard from family members this morning. I sent a bad mattress to the garbage yesterday & didn’t realize that my daughter wanted it. Other than that, things are going well.

Started Tuesday/Thursday deep-water aerobics…enjoying! Anyone else start something new?

Beth, sorry to learn about your hearing loss. I do find some joy in music, specifically classic rock. Sorry you have lost that.

Ive been reading alot of articles saying that hip arthritis is caused by menopause we shall see .
I think the arthritis in my left hand is from when I smashed it on a shopping cart at Costco

Ouch Allie! So sorry Costco took a liking to your hand.😥🙃.
I am trying not to whine too much here, but moving boxes (like a tub full of books) is not my forte'! Pacing myself so I can move by evening. Still so much to do. I hope I am helping and not making things too stressful.💖
Miss husband.
