Despite the fact that I cycled 53 km immediately after falling backward and landing on it ... yes, for the next few days I've been advised to rest the arm. Putting weight on it is probably not the best idea.

Barbie - glad to hear your friend wants to buy your Subaru! And that she's willing to take you and Jake shopping for your next car.

I think there are at least half a dozen of us in this group that have or had Subaru's. Mine is the third one I've owned, my sis is on her second one.

Speaking of, I'm going to have the shop look at the other non-noisy bearing when I take it in on Thursday. I'm a big fan of preventive maintenance. I called them today and asked if they could go ahead and replace the other one while it's in there, they said no, they don't normally. Perhaps they are heavily scheduled right now. But I'll lean on them to inspect it the other one and give me an indication of the condition and we'll take it from there.

Heather - your paintings are wonderful. How large are they? And I really look forward to hearing about the things you do on your trip and the people you meet.

Annie - You are doing a great job in the sister challenge. Kudos!

Carol - are you finding good movies to watch on Prime? I don't know if you've ever subscribed to Britbox or Masterpiece or Acorn thru Prime - these now run about $7.50 each per month. Since I'm crazy for British mysteries, they have a lot and I often subscribe to one for a month and binge on them. I'm back with Britbox right now watching the 10th season of Father Brown. I think you'd enjoy this one. I've rewatched all the Father Browns, Vera's, Death in Paradise, Endeavor, Midsommer Murders. And this winter will probably rewatch them again!

Sue in WA - I bet you were glad to have your DD back home, sorry to hear she came home with a sty, hope it's getting better. Bet she has a lot of exciting stories to tell and maybe some photos to show.

Machka - glad you were able to get back to the mainland for a bit, and super glad your elbow will get looked at. What can they do for a broken elbow? Probably depends on where it's broken and what type of break.

I mowed the front lawn today - and made the first pass at getting the dandelions under control at least.

Also had a little mishap. After I finished mowing, I was weed-eating and managed to step in a deep hole in the lawn. I had no idea it was there, but fell forward, landed on my "good" knee and the weed-eater. I got up, shook myself off, and finished the job and came into the house, elevated my knee and slapped the ice pack on it. That's the bad news.

The good news is that another Louise Penny novel popped up on my Kindle so I got to binge read it all afternoon. Just finished.

And the other good news is that my knee is stiff, but really no swelling and very little bruising. Seems like if I walk on it a couple minutes, it's 90% better. So grateful. I could have had a sprained ankle, broken wrist, or worse. Our subdivision used to be farmland and this hole looks like a spot where a large fencepost would have been pulled out at one time. We've always just mowed over it without noticing.

Margaret - I am envious of your berries. Maybe I need to try to plant some next year.

Kylia - I’m glad you were able to talk to DH. Are they going to take it seriously and hire more help? Maybe they should let you manage it, you seem to care more than they do.

I too, don’t like asking for favours or accepting them when they are offered. I have been trying to be better at it as that is a way for our friends to show they care.

Michele - you sound unhappy with your BK job now, not like you used to be.
Yes that is what is happening. Say 12 people have registered, she doesn’t have room for more so has to turn people down. Then of those 12 only 8 show, it means she has lost business because she had to turn others down.
You could make Porky hold a sign, like a plant stake and have it fired together from green ware.

Barbie - You have made the best life for yourself.

Rebecca - we look around the house with dollar signs too. It helps to fund other things we need or want.

Heather - you’ll need a vacation to recover from your vacation. What fun! I’m so drawn to your Winter painting. I’m always drawn to a winter scene as it reminds me of happy times growing up. The beauty of the white snow on open fields and in the trees took my breath away many times. Your painting takes me home, I love it.

I went with my friend for a picnic today. We found a lake about an hour away. It was beautiful.




I think I’m going to Kaitlyn’s tomorrow, she is anxious for me to see their newly painted home.

Off to bed, it was a long day out in the fresh air.

I had my porridge, which was 😋 . I have it with butter and salt, the Scottish way.
I also had huge prunes with a fresh orange slice and their homemade yoghurt. Heaven.
The hotel manager stopped by to chat. She has never seen an orca!!!

When we go to the gym, we are the only people there.

The cheese situation is sorted out. The chef only orders a couple of Epoisses and Chaorces, because most people find them too strong, so he is keeping them just for me.

Last night I had the most heavenly Venison Tartare. The food in the dining room is excellent, with a few mistakes, which we always point out. We often eat lightly, with fish being a favourite.
Today, because we are off at 1.15, we are having room service at 12. Asparagus, and Scotch Egg.
You can have anything you want 24 hrs a day.

Lanette, sorry you stepped in that hole. Sounds scary. But you did the right things, rest and elevation and ice.

The smoke alarm in my room is chirping loudly every three hours, scaring Teddy half to death. He has been shaking. I woke up out of a strange dream. My ex husband was yelling at me, and instead of taking it quietly like I usually did, I screamed back at him that he was such a liar that everything he said was worthless noise. So I woke up angry and righteous. No wonder Teddy won't settle. I'm downstairs on the couch now, where the alarm isn't as strong. I guess I need to change the battery in the morning. But I think all the clocks are stuck at 3:30. It's that kind of night.

We moved away from the area we visited this past week 10 years ago. I'm having trouble getting my head around that. It certainly doesn't seem that long.

So I began to think about what has happened over the past 10 years. Sometimes I think that nothing has happened in the past decade ... that I haven't accomplished anything ... that I've stagnated. But I haven't!

- I've had 4 jobs and have moved up the band levels.
- I am in a much better financial position (although the cost of living has also gone up a lot, and my husband's situation isn't great)
- I have completed another degree at university
- I have taken courses in accounting (MYOB), photography, Spanish and brain injury ... and I'm currently taking a Clinical Costing course
- Became an Australian citizen
- Sat on a board for a non-profit organisation
- Became president of my region's long distance cycling club
- Organised all sorts of cycling events
- I've learned something about gardening and have built a landscaping feature
- Learned about beekeeping and have a hive
- Adopted Rhody
- Started converting my website to Wordpress
- Relearned to drive
- Travelled to North America and a few places in Australia, especially Tasmania
- I've lost a lot of weight ... and gained it back
- Cycled thousands of kilometres
- Participated in running events for the first time since I was a teenager, including several 10 km runs and one half marathon.
- Walked, hiked up mountains, canoed, rowed, lifted weights, did Pilates ...
- Became a carer
- Became a grandmother!

There's hope for the next 10 years!
