@chris_in_cal - A sleep challenge sounds great, if for no other reason but to make you aware of your bedtime routines and to learn about your sleep patterns.
It is informative, and challenging. Last night "Day 4" I actually started preparing for bed and the number on the clock started with a "9."
I was as close to a 10:00 p.m. bedtime as I've been probably since I was nine years old.
I signed up for a fun Fourth of July 5K over in Coronado, CA and it starts bright and early. So it is kind of good I'm getting to bed earlier, on race day getting up at the crack of dark won't be quite so horrible.
@spl8 I'm hoping July finds you back into a good calm fun routine.5 -

I've pick and pecked at improving my sleep over the last couple of years. All my chargers and lights and doodads are in another room. I've tried to cut out all the light in my bedroom.
I don't have insomnia, but some friends I know do. I usually do okay sleeping, but not great. For me the biggest baddest and most dreaded barrier to improving my sleep is going to bed earlier.
I love nothing more then pouring a smokey scotch and after all the clamor has settled down relax in the quiet night hours. [or back in the day go out dancing ] It is my introvert precious 'me' time. --Sorry for the sleep content in our running thread.---3 -
That's 2 runs this week to get me to target. See you in July. Overall it seems like a pretty good month for most!

@katharmonic - Running along the Rhine River is wonderful. Also there is a greenbelt (Grüngürtel). I think you can combine them to make a circle. My parents used to live in Bonn and they ran along the Rhine River every day. It's beautiful.
Wonderful! Thank you @spl8! I am looking forward to it.
@qwerty9134 welcome. I'm recovering from a couple of surgeries and several more months of stress and lack of motivation and am basically back on that couch too. C25k is a great way to get going, and I might try it again (I did several years ago when I first started running for the very first time). Great job showing up here, and please jump in the July thread!
I walked today and yesterday. The air quality is bad from the Canadian wildfires so I cut it a bit shorter that I wanted. Hopefully it clears over the weekend.
See you all in July8 -
Thought I was done with June, but saw that I was only 6 miles from an even 1100 for the 1st half of the year, so knocked out an easy 6

Even with no run yesterday (many, many hours on planes) and none today (exhausted), to my surprise, I made my monthly goal! It was low but I knew I would be hiking and traveling. I also had over 135 miles of hiking and purposeful walking for the month.
Happy belated birthday to your mom @kgirlhart!
Glad you finally kicked that nasty cold @SummerSkier.
I imagine you are exhausted from your trip @polskagirl01. I know that I am and I’m not recovering from anything. I was shocked at the air quality in Philadelphia when we landed yesterday. It’s fairly hazy here in Virginia also.
@katharmonic – Rhine…Seine….goodness I need to work on my geography!
Welcome to all those who joined in this month for the first time and congratulations to everyone for getting out there! See everyone next month!

Sounds like you did great given life obstacles @spl8 . I hope July is better for you.
@chris_in_cal No need to apologize for talking about sleep. It is important to overall health and really does affect our energy and what we can do. Garmin often tells me I need to do an easy run after not sleeping very well the night before. So...... definitely run related. Enjoy your upcoming race. Congrats on making your June goal!
You are doing great @AlphaHowls . That weather though..... Be careful out there!
You are doing great @katharmonic ! We all need to be careful in the heat and smoke.
Amazing mileage @Scott6255 !
Welcome home @Teresa502 ! You did great to meet your goal with all the other things you did this month!
I worked all day yesterday and then went to the funeral home for the mother of the day care director. She had been very sick for a while..heart issues and COPD. But, that doesn't really make it any easier and she was only 67. Seems so young.
When I got home, I did a true wun on the treadmill - just ran slowly during some of the commercials. I was really tired and had had a rough day at daycare. Anyway, I did 2.50 miles to put me at my goal of 80 miles running/walking for the month. On to July! Can't believe the year is half gone already!
