Machka Congratulations on a job well done! Even more so since really out of your comfort zone.
Heather I love that Max was able to go to Germany. What an awesome experience.
Allie That sounds like a grand evening!
Welcome Stacey and Laura
@Johal2021- remember to use save draft before scrolling ...it helps. I twist and can lose posts. Please remember to sign off so that we too can remember your name and place.
KJ I think you should keep him too! As for presents, no I don't see anything wrong with that! I am glad you had your princess moment.
Rebecca Gnomes are in this year!
Beth I love the idea of writing dates on cans!I may implement that in my cupboard.
Ginny You give the best advice about aging and Alzheimer's. Sorry to hear about your brother and your foot.
Sue and KJ My DH gets upset that so many people recognize me as the "Gravely Girl". I explain that I am the face they all see.
It was a busy weekend.
Christmas dance recital in Cincinnati last night. I drove my Miata. I shopped at Duluth trading for DH Christmas. Got myself a few things too. Finished setting up train with DH
Today was crazy busy. My living space looks great now, but don't look in the closets! Replaced 5 bulbs in Frosty, went to Lowe's for timers and tree for DH's man cave, finished putting out Christmas, decorated two trees, baked brownies and apple betty, vacuumed, then enjoyed evening with friends. Presents and wrapping stuffs in closets. I will work on those this week. DH grumbled a little about tree, but really likes it.
I believe he missed me this week. Very attentive....but I had things to get done and he seemed to grumble lots today. Maybe he was just worried that the house was such a wreck and folks were coming over....he was fine once it was ready.
I probably ought to go to sleep. Work tomorrow.
Love,
Kylia in Ohio

Heather - 715 and painting! That’s great! I love your painting.
I looked up Santon’s you really should dig them out. I so enjoy my village.
Lanette - if there is flooding would you be directly affected?
Annie - doesn’t the doctor need to decide on the meds? It’s good your Dad seems to be on the same page.
I have been known use things past the best before date depending on the item. According to the Canadian Food and Drug agency the Best before date doesn’t mean it’s not safe just may be changed texture or something. Expiration dates mean that they could be harmful if eaten. I always go by smell. I honestly don’t remember so many things having dates when I was younger. Or maybe we used the food faster. My Mom never had extras really.
Barbara - I don’t dust my village pieces except when they are set up. I don’t dust weekly like I should. The Christmas decorations aren’t up long enough to really need dusted before they are put away again for another year.
Machka - a successful event takes a lot of the organizer. It sounds like you had a successful event so deserve a rest today.
Lisa - if Kaitlyn and Michaela weren’t keen on helping, I would probably still do it, it would just take me a week instead of a day.
This usually becomes more of a two-three day event. This year though, I knew we had limited time so I did some prep work before they arrived.
They decorated my tree and had forgotten to put garland or ribbon on, since they were already started when it was noticed I told them not to worry. I only have the ornaments and lights on the tree this year and love it!
I may move the tree a little bit though, it is interrupting my tv viewing.
Johal - I use my iPhone. I run a note and make my comments on that, then I copy and paste it into the group.
Tina - there are times when I wish I was a more adventurous eater. I can’t do it though. Your days sound fun.
Rebecca - a few years ago I took all of my pictures out of albums and put them in photo boxes by year. I noticed they are all messed up now and need another sorting. I also, a few years ago put some of my Christmas photos in my frames around the house. Now I can’t find the pictures! Kaitlyn bought ornament frames for me in 2020 and I love them.
Kelly - I give to my nieces and nephews as I see something I think they would truly appreciate. If they have a sibling I get for all in that family though. I don’t want hurt feelings.
I get so frustrated that often I don’t receive even acknowledgment that they received something never mind a thank you.
I am not looking for accolades, just would like to see some manners.
Also, only one “aunt” (she’s my BFF) has sent my girls a present in the 26 years we’ve lived here. I feel I’ve done more than my share. Petty I know, but truthful.
What a wonderful feeling. I would feel like a Disney Princess too!
I’ve been dealing with plantar fasciitis for a few weeks now. I can’t afford therapy or orthotics, and can’t seem to give it enough rest. It’s so painful. I hope yours was quickly controlled.
Lisa - they sure are enjoying that.
So cute.
Rebecca - we have quite a few gnomes too. They are quite popular and cute.
Barbie - Annie is such a pretty dog.
Pip - I love the Santa at the camper!
Michele - I told her the town I am from had 7 churches within about a mile. Of course, she hasn’t got a perspective on how close that is, but I’ll explain it the next time I’m driving with her.
Glad you weren’t injured in your fall.
I had a fairly relaxed day today. I made some coasters and a did a painting for me. I don’t do much for myself so this was a bit strange.
The painting is 18x24, the biggest I have ever done. I followed a tutorial on YouTube that my brother’s wife shared last night.
It is snowing! I don’t think it will stay since it’s supposed to be above 0 the next few days again.
Off to bed, I’m tired.

Phew- did I miss alot
For those that have plantar facitis(sp) i had it real bad..had to get cortisone shots in the heel not fun.. but anyway take a 3/4 bottle of water and freeze it.. and in the morning while having your coffee or tea roll it on the effected foot or feet..really helps alot
I also had a sling that I wore at night that helped keep my foot pulled up tight.
Dan and I moved my sand table out of the hallway as they are replacing carpet this week .
Put it in the living room for now.
Did 2 loads of laundry yesterday ,and made the bed.
And something is wacky with Youtube..hmmm7 -

Today’s gratitude: found enough powdered sugar for rum balls. Casserole-a-thon postponed to Thursday.
Got a hint of shin pain this morning, could it be because I didn’t wear compression socks to bed?
Lisa “…made a fire (for Egg…” Joe made a fire for me even though it wasn’t super chilly, the rain was pouring down and there’s nothing like a wood fire heat for drying out wet dogs (and their Mama). Our woodstove has a glass window so we can see the flames, and is very solid cast iron (porcelain coated) so really radiates the heat.
Fingers X’d actupuncture eases your pain.
Machka like Lisa “… I always find myself in awe at your energy . . .”
Welcome @isthelink Stacey from VA Beach!
Allie “…waving around the marshmellow and just had a piece of chocolate lol” LOL indeed! the pics
Tina reading all the countries your bellies visited made mine  “…sleeping in separate rooms” after chili tasting? ROTFLMAO.
Rebecca Oh that Levi! Smooch smooch smooch!
Welcome @VeryVeggieVegan Laurie! Lots of compassionate, wise, supportive women here, jump right on in!
Lanette hope the flooding stays far away from you and your chickies.
Kellie I am so with you and Lanette about the “hands free” down/up floor bs. I believe in using my hands to do it safely, and in doing at least once daily to keep the skill. When I first added it to my daily PT it was very hard and awkward, now not so much. “…for the base of the tree pee” snort!
Barbie your sweet Annie!
Sue had to google Archie McPhee. Wonderfully weird!
Pip the ol’ pic and the camping Christmas lights. Smooch Yogi and those (new) pooches.
Tracey the painting! Sorry to hear about the foot pain ((hugs)).

Good morning ladies!
It's going to be a busy day. The cleaning ladies are coming, and the hospice nurse, and my cousin.
There is a doctor behind the scenes with hospice, but I bet he just rubber stamps what the visiting nurses say. I looked up her antidepressant and Alzheimer's, and there is controversy over whether it works in a person with dementia. I would give it anyway, because a little help in that area is worth a lot.
I do confess she is easier when she is sleepy though. She still says things like " shall I make supper?" But she is fine with me doing it. That means I have got to be around at suppertime.
So far she is not a difficult patient, except that I hate repeating that "you have cancer" moment. I avoid that, but it makes the hospice nurse conversation weird.
Your trees are beautiful! I need to start Christmas shopping. I think Mom will get another blanket. Sarah got her a Hudson Bay point wool blanket, used. She will love that heavy wool. I don't know
about Dad. Nothing too technical. I also need to buy them presents for each other.
Well, one more cup of tea and then the day will begin.
Annie in Delaware8 -
Tracey - I bought my tiny santons from Santon Fouque, in Marseille, by post a long time ago. My favourites are the priest and the mayor, who are sworn enemies in French tradition! I always place them back to back. I also have a garlic seller, a lavender seller and a couple of others. I think I may get them out this year.
Not feeling enthusiastic about going out in the rain to the music venue. Miserable out there. I might let John go on his own for a trial.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx7 -
Good morning, ladies.
Pictures of the Christmas villages on here are lovely. Will try to post mine once I set it up.
Our seed cleaning machine is being delivered some time this morning. The driver left Saskatchewan yesterday and did an overnight in Vermilion (Alberta) which is about 4 hours from us. Continuing on this morning. Arranged with a neighbor who has heavy road equipment to come in and lift it off the trailer. The unit weights 4600 pounds and we don't have anything that can lift that much weight. Even pulling it off with one of our tractors wouldn't work. Hubby is a bit stressed and will be glad when it's here.
Taking Lucy to the groomers this morning for a much needed groom.
Joy5 -
Kylia ~ Love your tree! It is just beautiful! And, what a good looking family you have. All smiles and handsome/pretty faces.
Tracy ~ Especially like the car with the fir tree on the trunk!
Barbara ~ Like your wood stove. It looks so cozy.
Joy ~ Don't know what a seed cleaning machine is for but it sounds like a big job getting it in place at your home.
Annie ~ Just hang in there and know that we are all praying for you and your mom and dad.
Heather ~ Just stay inside and stay warm!
Welcome to all the new posters! Missing Rosemarie!
My Thoughts on the Personality Test: Reading about all the results is so interesting. And, the traits that are attributed to most who have shared seem to fit so well with the chats you have posted.

Annie - So glad the job with your mom is getting easier, and sounds like your dad is being helpful. Glad the nurse is coming today and your cousin and the cleaning ladies. Nice to have your helpers show up.
Kylia - your trees and decorations are so beautiful; all of you ladies are putting me in the Christmas spirit! Thank you. I plan to do my big shopping spree this Friday. Gift cards and a few food-type things like nuts. Seems everyone I know is avoiding sugar as much as possible these days.
Rebecca - I meant to comment what a nice thing your sis did sending you that recipe card.
Joy - I know it will be a relief to have the seed cleaning machine unloaded and safe at your farm. Is it going to be placed into a shed or barn? Nice to have neighbors with the big equipment to help with all of this. Bet Lucy will look great with her holiday haircut.
Carol - I agree, it's fun looking up the descriptions of folks who are posting their "type." Pretty amazing how close some of us are.
Tracey - hope your foot is doing better today.
There were a LOT of different craft sales, store special sales, events for families to attend around here this past weekend. Lots of Santa appearances. And here I thought he was at the North Pole with the elves????? I wonder how the turnout was at these events. One of the local thrift stores that was having big sales on new Christmas toys for kids closed early on Saturday because of no customers and announced on FB 50% off on everything to the end of the month.
Barbara - same with your shin! I wonder if this cooler and/or damp weather is affecting us? Who needs the weatherman?
Most food banks around here will take canned goods up to six months to a year past the "best by" date. I read somewhere the cans with the pull-tops don't stay good as long as the ones that need a regular can opener.
No threat of flooding at my house - my house is at the top of a hill and I'm not near any rivers or wetlands. I'm sure the chicken run will have some standing water in areas and the soil there will be pretty wet, but with the warmer temperature I'm not too concerned. They can get into their little coop if they don't like wet feet; it will only be a couple days and will drain quickly once the rain stops.
Speaking of, I need to head out and see what the girls are up to. If no one is in the coop I'll do a quick clean.
Make it a fabulous week!

Ugh I could not get to sleep last night. I missed that window where I was feeling tired and, had I gone to bed, would have slept. Instead I was playing an online game of solitaire and told myself I would stop when I won. Not a great idea, I get obsessed by online games some time, good thing I never go to a casino!
Anyway I didn’t fall asleep until 4 am and then was awake at 8. I have to fast until 10:30 am because I scheduled my bloodwork draw today in anticipation of next week’s annual “well woman” exam. So, maybe it’s a good thing that I woke up so late, gratitude for that.
I am also grateful that I had some time yesterday afternoon with my 12 yo granddaughter. I asked her to help me do some Christmas shopping for our church’s project, putting together a go bag for kids going into foster care. She was keen to help and I was so thankful for her as we went to WalMart which I always find overwhelming. Before doing that we went to Chipotle and I had a simple steak bowl with brown rice, mild salsa and lettuce. And a few tortilla chips. Yesterday was okay for eating—think I came close to my “five a day” rainbow.
And today it’s the bloodwork and then just trying to readjust from the sleep issue.
And the posts about walking—I was a very faithful walker, using Leslie Sansone walking tapes at home. Have lost the daily discipline but trying to regain, even if it’s only 15 minutes, it’s a start.8 -
When I last did the test I was INTJ -T. The Architect. The T bit at the end is important. I may have changed since I did it, but I'm not going to do it again.
John went off to the Paris House, catching the bus some of the way because of the rain. I often send him out as my scout. He loved it. Said the jazz quartet was excellent, mainly 30s music, and he chatted to quite a few people. So, it's on my list for another time. Apart from the horrible weather, I have Bea pick up tomorrow and lunch out with G on Wednesday. I like to pace myself. I always have done. If I don't, my writing time suffers.
I had a lovely nap.

I probably will not take the test which more likely fits my personality. If I have spare time I like to listen to lectures from doctors and vets who are trying to think outside the box. The current one I listened to was on the gut biome. Interesting how the environment (physical, emotional, diet) can affect the gut and in turn affect our health and moods. My major take away at this point is less sugar, grains especially wheat in my diet. Upping foods like turmeric, cinnamon, oregano, ginger, garlic...fermented foods love Kombucha in a glass bottle. Using essential oils responsibly like clove, peppermint. Veggies and fruits hopefully more organic so less herbicides and pesticides. Avoiding plastics where I can. Putting food into glass a.s.p. One lecturer talked about how they found astronauts in space got loopy because of the confined space full of phthalates from all the plastic in the spacecraft. Plants in your home help remove phthalates from the air. I have that covered. I bring in many of my plants from the summer. The way to good health starts with a healthy gut. Fits well with the other book I am reading from Clutter to clarity.

Tracey-Very nice paintings!
Kelly & Ginny-Sorry about your feet! I am still struggling with my issues. I have given up trying to get them better.
Barbara-That stove looks warm. I say that from where it's a rather chilly 68 degrees F in my house. Though it is in the 50s outside.
We have a fireplace that hasn't been lit in many years. I'd like to get some sort of insert that makes it easy and quick to flick on and off. It isn't at the top of the priority list.
The chili cookoff didn't happen for us. We went at 11am and it was so busy already that they had run out of mugs for the tastings. Considering we were kind of peopled out from the previous day, we just went and had brunch instead. That was better for me.
Of all of us who took the personality test, am I the only one that is a Defender? That kind of surprised me, but I guess it's true, at least partially.

Gratitudes:
Today’s gratitude: wrapped fudge and rum balls, box is ready for post office. This for my “goddaughter” (not technically, but emotionally, as I am also her emotional auntie) who practices a Messianic version of Christianity, keeping kosher, Jewish holidays etc. Package might even get there before Chanukah starts at sunset on the 7th. No Matzoh Roca, cookies or Chex mix as no oven . . . yet UPS tracking says part will arrive today. Just got an automated call from Sears telling me to call as soon as possible to RESCHEDULE my repair appointment. ? Called and the automated system let me “reschedule” for the original appointment date: Wednesday, Dec 6. Fingers, toes, eyes crossed.
Heather your mini santons, like Tracy had to google them. IF I was more in the decorating (and dusting haha) mood, I’d send away for the bare minimum nativity. Fortunately for me both stables are out of stock.
Carol I miss Rosemarie too and hope all’s well with her.
Laurie tell us a little about yourself so we can get to know you too!
Now to break fast, get ready for line dance class.

😱🙀I probably won't take the personality test. I don't like making choices which probably says something about me. Reading Susan Cain's book "Quiet " told me what I needed to realize that my whole life I'd been an introvert trying to fit in with a world filled with extroverts

Barbie - Do you think you might be on the autistic spectrum, like Machka thinks she might be? DH's elder daughter was diagnosed post 50 yrs old, my elder son is borderline, and Max is also on the spectrum. So is my brother's granddaughter.
I once had a student who had a late diagnosis, after 55, and she was so relieved that it explained everything she had been struggling with all her life.
Nowdays there is a vocal autistism-positive movement, that explains it as 'otherwise gifted' and not a disability.
Had a nice chat with L, who is finding Christmas hard, as her deceased partner loved all the razzmatazz. When I rang she had managed to put a few decorations up, through her tears, and with the help of whisky. She was just finishing her second batch of mincepies to share with neighbours and yoga students. She was eating a few!
Fortunately, mincepies are not my thing, though DH likes them, and bought some on his way home this afternoon. He ate two. I delayed dinner a bit.

I’m still around, just reading everyone’s posts. I hope everyone is having a good Monday. I love looking at the pictures you all post on here. This is my baby, Ginger. I can’t take her walking with me when I walk outside because she constantly has her nose to the ground and has to stop every couple of minutes.
The part that tracks my calories on my treadmill has quit working so I had to find an app online that calculates them for me. I found one where you enter your weight, the incline, speed, distance and time it took you. It seems to be pretty accurate compared to what my treadmill said.
As of yesterday, I’m down 32 pounds. I still have another 26 pounds to my first goal of 150. I was thinking about getting to 150 and stopping, but I think I’d like to get to 135. With my height I should be at 126, but I don’t want to go that low.
Just wondering, do any of you eat the calories back that you burn from exercising? 95% of the time I don’t. The only time I do is if I’m going out to eat and decide I want to splurge some. The other times we eat out, I make sure I stay within my calorie deficit.
Until next time,
Gina from Kentucky

MFP Weekly Check-in for December 4, 2023
Kylia in Ohio - So I am starting December 1/2 pound lighter than November. 128. yay!
Rita in Roswell NM - Up a pound this week. The water wait is really annoying! I lost 2 pounds overnight last night!
Evie in BC : Disappointed in this past week, was showing a loss early in the week, but they found me!! The only good news is I didn’t gain!
Lanette in SW WA State – weight still holding steady in the healthy range for me; everything at status quo. Maintaining this for the coming month will be a “win” in my book. Helps to not be baking or bringing sugar/sweets into the house. Still “house walking” with 3# weights three times a day after meals.
1 -
House Walking = Farmer's Walk
I follow a physical therapist on YouTube in Bellingham, WA, named Ed Deboo. This morning he posted a video about Osteopenia & Osterporosis and running. He's responsive to comments so I mentioned the "house walking" I've been doing, carrying light weights. He replied to my comment and said something like good work and posted a link to something similar he recommends, called the "Farmer's Walk". Here's the link if anyone is interested:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1R7sU2A7yRI
Of course I switch it up by carrying weights, mostly held bent-arm as in a bicep curl. And I have a one story house with a long floorplan so I can get in many steps at a time. I just heard back from him to keep increasing weight as I get stronger, which was my plan. It was gratifying to hear that this carrying weight is great for bone density.

Hello from my crisp, sunny fall afternoon in the Arkansas River Valley...
Made that morning fire for Egg, but the rest of the day has not been nearly as relaxed. it's been one of those days where Corey and I have been discussing and finally decided on a heat source for the summer room. As usual, three phone calls and six texts back and forth.
Home renovation stuff:As soon as the windows are installed (hopefully this weekend) we want to be able to really dry the room out completely. It was wide open still for a couple rainstorms after the floors were in, plus the sheathing under the new roof got soaked twice while Corey was putting up, as well. While they appear dry, we want to make sure they're completely dry before we insulate or put the flooring in, so a steady heat source is necessary. However, as we discussed at length, we want it to be something we will enjoy over the years to come, too, so after discussing all the options, we're going with a propane vent-free stove:Also stayed on the phone while I was driving into town with my sister, and then we talked again after I got back. She was at the dentist when I first called her, to discuss having all her teeth removed. An accident where she fell off a ladder did terrible things to her teeth, and she's had issues ever since. It's the reason she's on social security disability, as well. Unfortunately, SS doesn't cover this, however. She's going to get a complete set of dentures, and that process will begin next week.
Neither one of us wanted to go through the necessary cost and changes to get a fireplace or even a wood-burning stove in the summer room, but this was a good compromise. Corey wants it to be propane-burning for the time being. It can swap over to natural gas later if we decide to have it plumbed in professionally. The freestanding gas fireplaces are beautiful, but too big for where we want to put it, and much more expensive.
I was worried, as I know how tight her finances are, but apparently our brother just older than me has already paid for all of it. It was wonderfully kind of him, and I don't think she expected it any more than I did. She talks to him, I talk to her, and she keeps us posted on how each of us is doing, usually. I'm glad he is close enough to her that he could step up for her--he's had dentures since his mid-30s, because he had terribly soft enamel and teeth that rotted and broke without warning, so he knew what she was going through.
So, good news all around, but a LOT of talking... much more than usual. Oh, and I talked to my daughter before I left for about 45 minutes, as well, while she was on the way to work. Did I mention she finally found her bio-father? Plus two half-sisters, apparently. Story for another day.
I'm going to hide my phone tomorrow...
Welcome to all who are new. Please just drop into any conversation, or ask a question, as a few of you have, or just let us know how you are, how you came to be here, and a little bit about you. Enquiring minds want to know!
Later,
Love y'all!
