Trying to find a nice restaurant for Christmas dinner but I have left it a bit late.
Fortunately it does appear that there are a few more open this year than last.

Annie-I think you let your mom rest as long as she needs. Rushing her increases chance of accident. Sad to watch but it sounds like she is fighting for every possible bit of independence she can-what a strong woman! The only way for it to click for her that it is too hard is for her to try.
Allie-glad details for your trip are being finalized. I may give some thought to a cruise-I've never done one.
Good meeting on budget. Need to get final proof and a couple of tweaks done this week. Have a couple of contracts to get revised before end of year. Staff member in charge of those is not performing up to snuff.
Working from home today except for Director's meeting I need to go to-should be low key as the last one of the year.
Off to start the day.
Take care all,

Good morning ladies!
Thank you so much for your support. It really feels like a warm hug, and it means so much to me!
Besides needing a rest on the stairs last night, mom lost another tooth. Her front tooth is loose, and that loss will worsen her lisp. She is hard to understand now, so that will be a big step downhill. My dad is near deaf and impatient, so that's not good.
I have to leave Mom with Dad so I can go to a medical appointment today. My aunt said she would check in on them. It makes me nervous but there's not much I can do.
Yesterday the hospice nurse Jamil came for the first time. He was very good. He spoke of her "decline" which was diplomatic. And he was able to order more meds very quickly!
There is a bit of a difficult question whether to keep her on her heart med and blood thinner. I guess the compassionate thing is to keep it up until her quality of life declines.
A friend brought us pumpkin pie and potato soup and turkey soup yesterday. My diet is terrible these days. I need to stop eating my stress. At least I slept through the night last night. So that's better.
Well, time for more tea. I really enjoy this quiet morning time with you all. Have a great day!

(((Annie))) Glad you got some good sleep. I know it is hard to get a break in your situation. I hope you can at least give yourself short mental breaks. I also hope you can find foods that lift you up rather than deplete you!2

Yesterday I went to the Y to swim and I was surprised with a bouquet of chrysanthemums given by a couple that come at the same time. Made me smile all day.

Lisa - that propane stove is a great choice. Glad you were there for your sister, I'm sure she'll feel a lot better when those bad teeth are removed.
Annie - glad your aunt is nearby and can pop over to check on your folks. Sounds like the hospice nurse is right on top of things; they do their job so well. . Good question about the heart meds and blood thinner. Many (((HUGS))) coming your way on this journey.
I haven't washed away yet, looks like only an inch of rain overnight but more coming.
Just went to check on the hens. Their run is pretty soggy, water pooling where it has leaked in. Slippery for me. I need to go out once the sun is up more and rig up some type of "floor" for them to stand on. Once the rain slows down it will drain fairly quickly but that's not going to be for a day or so.
Back later.

I’ve been reading the posts and I love seeing all the support you give each other! I’m figuring out who is who…sort of. It’ll take a while. A couple of ladies asked for more of an intro from me. I’m not super comfortable with talking about me, but here goes.
I grew up on the East Coast, and have slowly made my way West (next stop…Fiji?? 😂 one can only hope). I’ve been in CA for 15 years, the longest I’ve been anywhere since I was a kid. I guess I’m a bit of a wanderer. I love to travel when I can. I am indeed vegan. I went back and forth with vegetarianism for years until a friend sent me “Forks over Knives.” That was it, went vegan and have never regretted it. Yes, I miss cheese, but the vegan diet aligns with my values- I can’t see ever going back.
I work full time (4 years to go, but who’s counting?), and the job is often stressful. I find peace in meditation and mindfulness. Camping, or glamping I should say, nature photography, and hiking are hobbies. I have an SO, who has a dog, and although I’m not his human, I love the devil dog. If I ever figure out how to post a picture, I’ll introduce you.
I don’t know the personality test some of you have taken, but when I did the Meyers-Briggs years ago I was an INFJ. Definitely the “I” fits. Not so sure about the other letters.
I’m here because I gained a lot of weight with menopause and I’m sick of it. I want to lose about 40 pounds, but I’m not in a hurry. Yesterday would be fine by me. 🙂 Thank you so much for the warm welcome! Much appreciated and very comforting knowing y’all are here.
Good night, good morning, or good afternoon to you all.
With gratitude,
Laurie
Laurie I am a transplant from the East Coast heading West as well! Started in CT moved to TN for 15 years back to CT RVing across the country for a year (never got to CA because of the fires that year), Now in NM for the last 6 years. Who know? I may yet end up in Cali! LOL
I’ve got about 25 pounds for to go. I had lost 60 pounds, then CoVid and life came and gained back 30 of those. At least I have lost 5 of those gained so far this year. Health issue are forcing me to lose the last 25 pounds and I’m not mad about that loss! I need it anyway! 🤪
I watch for UFO’s daily (Roswell) walk, read, movies, knit, crochet, color, aromatherapy, and a few more small crafts are my hobbies. I also volunteer at a state park as a camp host and teach a 1-day a week computer class at the Adult Center. I try to stay busy as you can see. Oh, yes, I have been married 26 years (together 31) and belong to Al-anon online. I also have 2 fur babies here in NM, with 3 adult children (MA, RI, and TN) and 2 grandchildren (MA, RI). I’ve been on MFP about 10 years now.
Anyone know where to find the date we joined MFP?
