I'm currently puzzling with my Garmin 10k running programme.
Today pause
24.12: slow 40 minutes
25.12: stride repeats
26.12: pause
27.12 looooong slow run. But here I'm going on a short vacation and I don't want to run after driving (and sightseeing along the way) all day. I might arrive quite late anyway.
So I'm thinking:
today: slow 40 minutes
24.12 pause
25.12 stride repeats
26.12 the long run
27.12 pause
Not ideal to run again after two days of running, and do the long run after a somewhat faster (if short) one. But there's no other way I think. Weather forecast tells me it'll still be stormy tonight and I'll likely get soaked again (currently raining/very wet snowing) but there's a remote chance of a dry long run.6 -
You are doing great @daria0919 . At some point, all of those doing those amazing miles started with a one mile, or less, run.
@yirara Sometimes you have to rearrange runs in order to get them done. I think your plan is a good one. You are doing great.2 -

This is so true. My first monthly goal was 40 miles. And I was a 50 mile per month runner for a long time. Not that I run amazing miles. 😊 But I do run longer distances than I did at first.

I agree with this too. One thing I don't like about the app plans is you can't really adjust them like you can on paper. And sometimes you need to make adjustments.6 -
I felt a little better yesterday. I actually felt pretty fair in the morning and less well in the evening. But this morning I felt worse than yesterday. But it still feels more like a cold than flu. Yesterday I was feeling like maybe I would be OK for Christmas. But then I think that even if I tested negative tomorrow morning I would be super anxious about it. And since I am still having symptoms this morning, I think that even if I feel better tomorrow, I probably won't feel up to a family gathering which will probably be 25-30 people.
@AlphaHowls I hope you start feeling better soon.
Thanks to all for your well wished. I was trying to mention everyone, but I kind of lost track. Just know that I love you all.9 -

Yeah, though I can move runs around or skip them to some extend. So i'm now moving my 40 minute run to today from tomorrow. It even seems to be dry for the moment. Oh wonder...
yep, worked. I got a warning that I might not want to run 3 days in a row, but that's all. Next week all is back to normal. Will do this one very slowly.7 -
So here I am feeling unmotivated and then I think well why am I wasting these opportunities? I am not injured? I am not sick. Jweeeez!
So altho I won't hit a 140 mile goal with 8 days left I am going to adjust to 100 and work on trying to increase the pace. Motivating factor to keep going? Nike has a new shoe I am lusting after coming out 3 Jan... <I am addicted I admit>

Yikes! Weather forecast said it'd be dry. It wasn't. Rained quite heavily and every raindrop hitting my head felt like a bucket full of icecold water. Including the bucket. Muscles got icecold and running didn't go too well, but I did run.
No running tomorrow, and then I'll do my longer run on Monday and stride repeats on Tuesday. Then a bit of vacation. Likely with lots of rain.7 -

12/21: 8 miles
12/23: 10 miles
Went to the Greenway trail. It was mid 60's and 97% humidity. Basically not winter at all. I managed a few miles at the target long run pace but about halfway just had to abandon all goals. I used the need for a slower pace as an excuse to hop on the equestrian trails that run roughly parallel to the paved bike-hike trail. They weren't technical or rough at all. I'll definitely use those again when I'm not doing paced runs. No one really uses them which is cool because the main trail can be kind of busy sometimes.7 -
@kgirlhart I'm glad you felt a bit better part of the day. This is just a bad time of the year to be sick. Hopefully you will feel better tomorrow. Hugs.
@SummerSkier I'm not very motivated right now either. You are doing great and I think shorter, faster runs is a great way to end the year. Plus, 100 miles isn't anything to sneeze at. I hope you are able to get the new shoes.
I'm sorry your run today wasn't pleasant @yirara , but great job on getting it done. Have a safe trip.
Sounds like you did great @martaindale , even if you weren't at the pace you wanted. I'm glad you enjoyed the equestrian trail.

I spent most of the day making Oreo Balls for Christmas. I didn't feel like running, so went out for a driveway wun. Without the warm up and cool down walks, I would have been fast enough for calling it a run, but since I put it all together, I'm calling it a wun/walk. Avg pace was 14:38 min/mile.
I was trying to get in a distance to make my monthly total an even mile. I thought I was at xxxx.80 miles. I forgot about the extra 8 hundreths. Maybe tomorrow.

Afternoon all.
Got in another 10K (09"54).
Back at my mother's for Xmas Eve.
@SummerSkier , @quilteryoyo is right. 100M nothing to sneeze at9 -
Now I want Oreo Balls.
Gentle hugs to those who are unwell.
To those who feel unmotivated, it's normal at this time of year and you are still awesome, and loved, and enough, even if you do nothing but stuff your face (with Oreo Balls).
To those slogging out their runs, well done.
To those loving their runs, well done!
Happy holidays everyone ;-)
Oh, and the thing about everyone started with one mile is so true! I clearly remember being unable to do the 1 minute runs the first week of C25k and having to work up to them!!!9 -
Merry Christmas eve my running team! I really wasn't sure when I would get my run in today but the sky finally stopped dripping after about 10 am .... Oddly my nose was running all morning. Like I had an allergen stuck up one of my nostrils. Thank goodness I got a run in to clear my head up. That happened on Friday afternoon also but yesterday no runny nose. Don't think I am sick.
Anyway I threw on my oldest racing shoes and managed one of my best 5Ks this year. hmmmm. Maybe it was because I had already had my 2 cups of coffee vs the 1 I usually have earlier in the morning. 🤣😂😳 I almost had a split under 9 min. Well it was exactly 9. dammit. Maybe tomorrow. No rain fcst now for 10 days so expect to close the year easily at 100. knock on wood.

I'm at mum's and her neighbours are coming round for drinks 🍻 and snacks. Annual tradition dating way back when.

@SummerSkier a run always helps get the gunk out! 🙌
Merry Xmas Eve everyone 🎄 ⛄❄️🍻🍻🍻🍻7 -
Graphic I made 10 years ago:
I had two, a five year old and three year old. I had to choose one to die. This is the three year old since he was smaller.7 -
Glad to hear the folks who were ill are on the mend. Great job to all that are getting the last runs of the year completed.
Mmm Oreo balls! Haven't even heard of them until my son's girlfriend made them for Thanksgiving. How have I missed out for all these years?!
@daria0919 cute grandkids 😊
Raining all last night and today, so no long run this weekend. But got on the TM for 5 miles this afternoon.
Merry Christmas to all 🌲🎁🌟

Thank you so much @eleanorhawkins . I needed that. If I could, I would send you some of the Oreo Balls.
Congrats on such a speedy run @SummerSkier ! I hope you aren't getting sick.
Nice run @tarun_yadavA ! Enjoy entertaining your mums neighbors.
@daria0919 Your and your DH are doing great. That set of granddaughters are sooo cute. Enjoy.
Those are huge poinsettias @AlphaHowls . I have one that is growing, but haven't figured out how to get it to "bloom" again.
Great TM running @Scott6255 . I thought the same thing the first time I had Oreo Balls. Now, it's one of those things I am expected to make for Christmas. I don't mind. I get to sample every batch.
One of the tins of Oreo Balls. Green and red sprinkles for Christmas. They are not at all uniform, so you know they are homemade by an amateur.
Merry Christmas Eve and Merry Christmas to you all!8
