I love January! New Year reset has begun. I moved my daughter back to college today and got to spend all day with her. I’ll miss having her home for the holidays, but she’ll be home for the weekend in less than 10 days.
Jan 3: 203.4
It’s amazing what logging everything and exercise can do! Feeling fabulous. 🥰 Time to do some quick exercise with Up to the BEat fit with Gina B on YouTube then it’s time to take down the Christmas tree and decorations before heading back to work tomorrow.

I am committed to weighing in and logging my food every day.
I missed on January 1st but I am up to date now.5 -
Morning All,
A good focused day again yesterday with a calorie deficit on the diet side and a decent amount of activity on the exercise side. The year has started way better than I expected but I’m guessing this is mostly water that is coming off…but long may it continue!

1/2 212.7
1/3 208.5
Hope everyone has a great day!
Cheers,

Yesterday I played pickleball for 2 hrs in the morning and bowled for 2 hrs in the evening. I drank a lot to maintain hydration. Perhaps that explains my slight weight gain. Today I plan on pickleball again. I may have an addiction. Physical activity makes me hungry, so I'll try to be mindful of that when I refuel. I want to break into the 170s and spend the remainder of January there.

Hello, I'm Jarol777. I'm a 5' 7" great-grandfather from Iowa, home of the Hawkeyes. All weight-maintenance begins between the ears. I decided to begin losing excess weight 25 years ago in 1998. With all of the yo-yo attempts, it took me 21 years to take off 102 lbs and now I am in my 5th year of maintenance. At age 86, I can say it is certainly worth the effort. Life is good, my wife of 64 years and I are "living the dream" but the maintenance effort NEVER ends. I've tried all of the fad diets and none are sustainable. I had 20 years of yo-yo dieting that didn't work. So my goals in 2024 remain the same:
1. Weight every day!
2. Count every calorie - I weigh, I measure, I try not to estimate portions at home.
3. I don't mention my goals in the homes where I am a guest.
4. I calculate FP food consumed at home.
5. I document all food consumed in FP since I move here from SparkPeople.
6. I PTL for everything in life.
7. I want to end well!5 -
Hi! Call me Bee - Im a married 43yo, 5'6" from Canada. 13y ago went from 190 to low 130s then steadily climbed 100lbs higher than my highest weight. This time around I'd like to adjust better mentally as well to KEEP the health improvements.
My January goals:
Daily AM weighin ⚖️
Log all food 🍽
5 water bottles daily (to start) 🌊
6k steps daily (to start) 👣
Daily 30m walk 🦶
10m 3x/week elliptical 🤸♀️
Jan 2 - 287.5⚖️🍽🌊👣🦶🤸♀️
Jan 3 - 284⚖️🦶
Saw someone use emojis to track daily and I like that idea and will be doing it too.4 -
Hi All! I'm a 46-year-old married mom of five. I started this group in September at 141 pounds (overweight for me at my height) and have lost about 11-12 pounds overall since then. I always gain some weight around Christmas; I love the cookies, truffles, and eggnog etc. I allowed myself to just enjoy those things and slack off some; however, it's time to get back to the routine! My goal for January is to log and weigh every day, and to lose 3 1/2 pounds. I'm setting my goal a tad on the aggressive side because I suspect that some of my gain from the end of December is not only fat but water and such.
Ultimate starting weight 160.0 pounds
January goal: 126.0 pounds
January 1: 129.6 I logged ❄️

My name is Donna. I am 5’ 5” tall, 63 years old and from the Michigan USA. In 2016 I weighed 253 lbs. I am on a journey of health and to get back to the real me.

Weight in blue makes me blue because it’s a gain. Weight in fuchsia pink makes me feel cheery because it’s a loss. Weight in black means no change.
01/01-181.6-(Trend Weight 180.3)-
01/02-181.4-(Trend Weight 180.4)- Boy, oh Boy, it sure comes off slower than it goes on! But I guess I’ll take whatever progress I can get. My trend weight keeps creeping up even with my weight slowly trickling down so I look forward to seeing that stabilize/improve. It’s taco Tuesday today but I won’t be having tacos. Lean baked chicken, spinach salad and sweet potatoes for me.
01/03-181.4-(Trend Weight 180.5)- Carbs were a bit high yesterday but calories were in check. I made a large dinner, skipped the dinner roll but had a regular potato instead of sweet potato yesterday. I haven’t had a baked potato in a very long time. I was pretty good on exercise and tried a new walking video that was much faster and longer. I liked it but will have to hope my breathing can keep up. Not enough water or steps overall for the day so that is my goal for today, to improve these two areas. I’ll have to be patient with the scale but we all know that persistence pays off so the goal is to keep moving forward and wait for pay day!

Hi. My name is Heidi, and I'd like to lose between 55-70 lbs.
I will weigh in weekly and log daily starting 1/4/24.
I will attend swim class once a week and will try to work out at other times during the week.
For me, I gained weight when I had my kids, and as an older mom, I've had a hard time losing the weight and keeping it off.
I need accountability to meet my goal.5 -

Hi everyone,
My name is Julie. I’ve been in and out of this group many times. Consistency is my problem. Today I am starting at 168.6 lbs, 5’9” and I am 48.
I use to happily bounce around 145-150lbs without having to carefully watch my diet because my job was very active and stress free and allowed time for workouts.
In 2015 I went back to school and changed my job to high stress and shift work. 20 lbs boom! And have not been able to get it off. Yo-yo to 155 then I go work 4 12-16 hour shifts and it’s wrecked.
This year I am going back to my old career. So excited for this change.
Start 168.6
Goal 145
Jan. 1 -168.6 Steps:12,312 Exercise: 30 min walk Calories: too low. I was trying to be really good at work by not eating any of the treats for our New Years day potluck and I succeeded a little too well
Jan. 2-165.6 Steps: 12,822 Exercise: 4.4 km light jog (rehabbing calf strain) 30 min, 30 min spin Calories: good

It’s my birthday so cake will be eaten. Not having a good start to the year - not enough greens and too much sugary food.
Start 111.7kg
Monthly Goal 110kg
Mon 1: 111.7kg
Tues 2: 111.8kg
Wed 3: 111.9kg
Thur 4: 112.2kg6 -

Almost anyone can play pickleball. I play at my local rec center in a 55+ age group. All ability levels play and the better players play down to the lower level players whenever they get matched up. So, it is usually friendly and fun.
I would suggest two things when and if you attempt to try PB.
1. Play with kids your own age to start. I'm 74 and I started playing with my senior softball buddies who are all my age. We all started as beginners and most of us are still playing together after starting 3 years ago.
2. Get your husband to play with you and maybe a few friends, family, or neighbors. Many rec centers offer pickleball opportunities and many have paddles and balls you can use. The rules and scorekeeping are a bit tricky but Google can get you going in the right direction. Keep it fun and don't get too competitive.
