Hello! I've gained quite a bit of weight over the past few years, and I'd like to turn that trend around. At a minimum, I'd like to get out of the obese zone, so my first goal weight is 185.

    My goals for January:
    - Daily physical therapy for chronic injury
    - Lose 4-8 pounds

    Jan 1: 216.7 (PT & calorie deficit)
    Jan 2: 215.0 (calorie deficit)
    Jan 3: 214.4

Yesterday I played pickleball for 2 hrs in the morning and bowled for 2 hrs in the evening. I drank a lot to maintain hydration. Perhaps that explains my slight weight gain. Today I plan on pickleball again. I may have an addiction. Physical activity makes me hungry, so I'll try to be mindful of that when I refuel. I want to break into the 170s and spend the remainder of January there.

    Start weight: 180.0 pounds
    Goal weight: 160.0 pounds

    Jan 1: 180.0
    Jan 2: 180.0

My name is Donna. I am 5’ 5” tall, 63 years old and from the Michigan USA. In 2016 I weighed 253 lbs. I am on a journey of health and to get back to the real me.
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

    Actual Ending Weight: xxxxx
**********************ONE DAY, ONE STEP, ONE DECISION AT A TIME********************

Weight in blue makes me blue because it’s a gain. Weight in fuchsia pink makes me feel cheery because it’s a loss. Weight in black means no change.

    01/01-181.6-(Trend Weight 180.3)-

01/02-181.4-(Trend Weight 180.4)- Boy, oh Boy, it sure comes off slower than it goes on! But I guess I’ll take whatever progress I can get. My trend weight keeps creeping up even with my weight slowly trickling down so I look forward to seeing that stabilize/improve. It’s taco Tuesday today but I won’t be having tacos. Lean baked chicken, spinach salad and sweet potatoes for me.

01/03-181.4-(Trend Weight 180.5)- Carbs were a bit high yesterday but calories were in check. I made a large dinner, skipped the dinner roll but had a regular potato instead of sweet potato yesterday. I haven’t had a baked potato in a very long time. I was pretty good on exercise and tried a new walking video that was much faster and longer. I liked it but will have to hope my breathing can keep up. Not enough water or steps overall for the day so that is my goal for today, to improve these two areas. I’ll have to be patient with the scale but we all know that persistence pays off so the goal is to keep moving forward and wait for pay day!

    Hi everyone,
My name is Julie. I’ve been in and out of this group many times. Consistency is my problem. Today I am starting at 168.6 lbs, 5’9” and I am 48.
I use to happily bounce around 145-150lbs without having to carefully watch my diet because my job was very active and stress free and allowed time for workouts.
In 2015 I went back to school and changed my job to high stress and shift work. 20 lbs boom! And have not been able to get it off. Yo-yo to 155 then I go work 4 12-16 hour shifts and it’s wrecked.
This year I am going back to my old career. So excited for this change.

    Start 168.6
    Goal 145

Jan. 1 -168.6 Steps:12,312 Exercise: 30 min walk Calories: too low. I was trying to be really good at work by not eating any of the treats for our New Years day potluck and I succeeded a little too well
Jan. 2-165.6 Steps: 12,822 Exercise: 4.4 km light jog (rehabbing calf strain) 30 min, 30 min spin Calories: good

I want to learn so bad! How coordinated do you need to be?

Almost anyone can play pickleball. I play at my local rec center in a 55+ age group. All ability levels play and the better players play down to the lower level players whenever they get matched up. So, it is usually friendly and fun.

I would suggest two things when and if you attempt to try PB.

    1. Play with kids your own age to start. I'm 74 and I started playing with my senior softball buddies who are all my age. We all started as beginners and most of us are still playing together after starting 3 years ago.
    2. Get your husband to play with you and maybe a few friends, family, or neighbors. Many rec centers offer pickleball opportunities and many have paddles and balls you can use. The rules and scorekeeping are a bit tricky but Google can get you going in the right direction. Keep it fun and don't get too competitive.
