Hi again everyone. My name is Mel. I’m a grandma from Ontario. I’m back to continue this challenge for January as you all help keep me accountable. Jan. Goals: break into the 170’s.
Starting weight in March 2023: 230 lbs. (diagnosed with diabetes)
 Goal weight: 120 lbs.
 Height: 5’2”
 Total loss: 52 lbs.
End of Sept. weight: 187.8 lbs.
 End of October weight: 188
 End of Nov. weight: 186
End of Dec. weight: 181.4 lbs.
 Monthly Weight Loss:
 March-10 lbs. (2023)
 April- 8 lbs.
 May- 5 lbs.
June- 4.4 lbs. (trip to Europe)
 July- 5.6
 August-7 lbs. joined a ‘challenge’
 September- 2.6 lbs. ( sick)
 October- (gained) .2 lbs.
 November- loss 1.2 lbs.
 December- 4.4 lbs.
Jan. 1- 181.2 lbs. New Years Gala last night.🥳 Not really a Gala, just a fun dinner and dance. 💃 I danced the night away , and tired out my poor hubby. The Courage Brothers Polar Dip into the frigid waters of Lake Ontario is held near here. Going to walk over later to watch, not participate 🤣!
 Jan. 2- DNW
 Jan. 3-182.4 lbs. fitness class
 Jan. 4-181.2 lbs. morning swim
Jan. 5-182 lbs. bad night, didn’t sleep, so ate. Really weird behaviour as I really want to lose 3 or 4 lbs. before I go on a cruise at the end of January. Smarten up Mel🫨! Anyway, the good news is I swam for an hour this morning and am determined to get back on track. Have 2, sweet, 10 year old granddaughters coming over for a sleepover over today. They won’t do it at their homes, but insist on coming here🤔. They know what they’re doing👵🏻.
Jan. 6- 181 lbs. busy, fun day with granddaughters. Girls baked a yummy cake yesterday but I didn’t eat any. Good for me😢.
Jan. 7- DNW, not my best day, very tired
Jan. 8- 181.6 lbs. expected this. Visited friend last night, wine and cheese. Osteoporosis fitness class today. I’ll never give up. Need to refocus on eating habits. It’s one week into January and I’ve gained, not lost. Going to plan meals and start cooking again. That usually works for me. I enjoy cooking.
Jan. 9- 179.6 lbs. whoo whoo!🤩 Finally broke into the 170’s. I hope it stays.
Jan. 10-179 lbs. This is so inspiring. I went to an osteoporosis class and then did 15 min. on the elliptical afterwards. I think I see my waist starting to emerge👍😲.
Jan. 11-178.2 lbs. I’m happy and a little shocked. This is unusual for me. I hope this stays. The scale has been great for 3 days in a row. Aquafit class today.
Jan. 12- 178.4 lbs. normal fluctuation, fitness class
Jan. 13-DNW let myself get emotionally derailed by an unsuspecting friend
 Jan. 14- 177.6 lbs.
 Jan. 15- 177.6 lbs.

            Happy New Year!
Welcome to your year of refocusing on becoming a healthier you. We’re all in this together.
 Hello, I’m Jill. 🥰I’m 53, 5’7” and I live in Michigan.
 My goals for January :
 ⚖️Weigh- in daily
 📝Log daily
🙆♀️Stretch daily/ Exercise 3x per week- starting at 15-20 minutes of beginner dance workouts
Get back down to under 200 pounds
Hang out in the 190’s for awhile.
My ultimate and hopefully sustainable goal is 185.
 Starting weight January 1st:
 Jan 1: 205.6
 marks the start of 2024
 Let the fun begin!
 Jan 2: 204.5
I love January! New Year reset has begun. I moved my daughter back to college today and got to spend all day with her. I’ll miss having her home for the holidays, but she’ll be home for the weekend in less than 10 days.
 Jan 3: 203.4
It’s amazing what logging everything and exercise can do! Feeling fabulous. 🥰 Time to do some quick exercise with Up to the BEat fit with Gina B on YouTube then it’s time to take down the Christmas tree and decorations before heading back to work tomorrow.
Jan 4: 203.3 Happy Thursday friends! Today is my Monday. Time to get back to work and keep up with the good habits.
 Jan 5: 202.8 😁😄😃
 Jan 6: 202.7 😁😁
Jan 7: 201.7 I love waking up and getting on the scale again. Happy Sunday!❄️
Jan 8: 202.8 not gonna stress… part of the process. Happy Monday. 🥰
Jan 9: 203.2 over indulged in salty wings while watching U of M play in the National Championship last night. Great game and tasty food. Gotta eat more veggies today to compensate.
Jan 10: 204.6 It’s amazing how quickly the scale reacts to a day of mindless grazing. Need to stop the slip back into bad habits now.
 Jan 11: 204.7
 Jan 12: 203.7 ⭐️
 Jan 13: 202.7 ⭐️
 Jan 14: 202.5 ⭐️logging makes the difference

            Jude, 66 YO, 5'2"
 SW: 147
 GW: 142
 Wk 1 EW: 142.6
 Wk 2 EW: 141.4
Hi, this is my first time in this challenge and I'm very happy to be here! I'm 66 YO, 5' 2" and officially overweight (again). I've dieted since I was 11 YO and my mom had a chart on the broom closet wall. I've been through the yo-yo weight gain and loss too many times and it's not healthy. Been as high as 165 (2007), as low as 115 (2008). I gained and lost 15-20 lbs at least 3 times in the last 15 years and that's self-defeating- and not healthy. My main goal now is to lose the weight (yes!) AND change my habits to a sustainable lifestyle that allows me to eat well and maintain my fitness.
 Wk 3: 1/15-1/21/24:
 Goals for the week:
 * mini-vacation next weekend- stay thoughtful about my choices and keep logging
 * weigh every day- I bought a travel scale!
 * no snacking, no desserts, good meals
 * continue to exercise every day
 1/15: 141.4
 1/16: 140.8 (yay!)
 1/17:
 1/18:
 1/19:
 1/20:
 1/21:
 Weeks 1 and 2:Wk 2: 1/8/24:
 My goals for this week:
 continue my exercise plan
tea after dinner- no food after
weigh every day- and be aware it won't always make me "happy"
 log in here every day
 1/8: 142.6
 1/9: 142.2
 1/10: 141.4
 1/11: 141.4
 1/12: 141.4
 1/13: 142.2
 1/14: 141.4
 1/14: Week 2 done!
Down 1.2 lbs for the week and achieved my goals even with a "bump" day. Halfway through January already!
1/8: First week of my first challenge down! Weighed every day, which is a huge step for me! Learning to use that number as a signal, not a moral judgment. Also, making Monday morning my end of week was a good change- I checked my portions all weekend, made new and interesting recipes that changed things up. Learning to make this a sustainable way of life, not a diet! Only took me 66 years!
 Wk1: 1/1/24:
 My goals for this week:
 * to the gym 4-5 times a week (keeping consistent)
 * tea after dinner- no food after.
 * weigh every day- which I avoid and then gain
 * log in here every day
 1/1: 146.6
 1/2: 145.8
 1/3: 144.2
 1/4: 144.2
 1/5: 143.2
 1/6: 143.4
 1/7: 142.6
1/7: Met my goals for the first time in a year and a half. Yay! On to week 2!
1/5: I know that this is mostly adjustment of bloat from the holidays, but it's encouraging to see the number drop. A good boost, but the real work will start when the number stabilizes or goes up.
1/3 Yay! Holiday bloat is going, better habits starting. It's as important for me to learn to eat correctly as to lose this weight. I always eat "healthfully" right through dinner and then pound the snacks after dinner, usually more calories in junk than in my daily meals. So my goal this time is to change this self-defeating- and self-deluding- habit.7

Hello I'm Darlene and have been with this group for a while now. Retired, 63-year-old. Married (Greg), one adult daughter (Allyson), and one goldendoodle (Monty). I have been on this weight loss journey since January 2023. 💖I wouldn't be where I am today without this group (along with a couple other challenges I am in); I am so thankful for their support and accountability. 💖
 My Goals for January

Jan 8: 163.6 ☹️👣 📝 🥗 💪 Doesn't make sense, but that is what the scale says today - so that's what I am posting.
Jan 9: 163.6 👣 📝 🥗 💪 💦 Had some salty soup (was delicious), so expected the scale to stay the same or go up and it did. Went to Bingo with mom last night - won the door prize ($10). Yahoo. Mom seemed a little down yesterday, hoping all is ok. The arthritis in her hip has been bothering her for years, they give her injections - but the last one didn't really help much. She has her annual appointment with her doctor today - hoping they can figure something out so that she isn't in so much pain everyday.

 Jan 11: 163.2 👣 📝 🥗 💦
Jan 12: 162.4 👣 📝 🥗 💦 Finally - a drop! Took a beautiful walk on the Airline Trail today. After the snow we had a couple inches of rain; it washed all the snow away - but made for some great waterfalls on the trail; I counted seven.
Jan 13: 162 👣 📝 🥗 💪 💦Woo Hoo! Rainy morning here today, so will get my chores done in the AM, and hopefully get my walk in after the rain ends.
Jan 14: 161.8 👣 📝 🥗 💦 Rainy morning yesterday - cleaned and organized my closet - brought two big bags to Goodwill of things that no longer fit. Moved the one size up clothes to the hall closet. I'm kind of in between sizes - the things I am wearing are a little too big - but can' quite fit into the size down. Soon enough! The afternoon was beautiful - we hit the 60 degree mark in January - so we took an afternoon walk.
Jan 15: 162.4 👣 📝 🥗 💪💦 I was over my sodium limit, and it shows. Also used all my calories (usually leave half of my calories earned by exercise). It's temporary.

            Hello, I’m Heidi. I’m 55, 5’5” and I live in Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas area.
 My goals for January:
 1 - Weigh in daily
 2 - Begin light cardio/stretch/weight exercises
3 - Maintain current weight or lose a little
 Weight:
 01.01.24 - 165.9 (.1 over my post surgical low)
01.02.24 - 166.5 (swelling is going back up)
01.03.24 - 167 (swelling is continuing to go back up)
01.04.24 - 167.5 (calling surgeon to see why I am blowing up like a balloon)
01.05.24 - 167.2 (surgeon says I am okay - here's to hoping it was just water retention!)
 01.06.24 - 166 (much better)
01.07.24 - 165.1 (almost back to my post surgical weight)
01.08.24 - 164.2 (swelling weight gain GONE plus .7 more!!)
 01.09.24 - 163.6
 01.10.24 - 163
 01.11.24 - 163.3
 01.12.24 - 163.1

 01.15.24 - 163.5 (overall weekly weigh-ins are down)
 01.16.24 - 163.4
 Exercise:
1 - Started small stretches (arms above head, side twists) which are going well. The pulling on my
incisions was horrible at first but are less so after a week. I also started doing some modified
bridges in the hopes that my healing abdominal muscles would start strengthening up. I am
walking much better and even walked the entire trip to Costco and pushed the cart. The hubby
still won't let me lift much except the small laundry basket!
2 - I'm getting much more walking in this week and slowly building up my stamina after surgery. I'm stretching more and more now as well. I still haven't gotten true exercise in the form of biking or aerobics but that will come soon (I hope).
 Highest weight Sep 2004: 315
Gastric Bypass weight Jan 2005: 281
Lowest weight Nov 2005: 142 (told to gain weight)
Highest recent weight Jun 2023: 228.8 (lost and gained throughout the years - oops)

01/15-183.4-(Trend Weight 181.3)- I feel like the number should be higher after that salty and starchy ham dinner yesterday complete with potatoes, gravy, dinner rolls and more. Sometimes it takes a day or two to really show up on my doorstep, but hopefully that won’t be the case this time. I did not exercise yesterday either to burn anything off but sometimes you just need a rest day.
01/16-183.4-(Trend Weight 181.5)- I thought this would be a bit lower today as yesterday was pretty on-point with diet and exercise. I guess the ham is catching up to me. I did not eat the leftovers yesterday but I probably will today so I guess I’ll see more sodium induced retention, but that should rid itself in the coming days. I do want my body to be able to eat “regular foods” if they are in the right quantity and thoughtfully prepared with my goals in mind.

            Happy birthday, @stormywxs288 !
Welcome back to the group, @zukppi75 !
@WhiskeyDeltaKilo I hope you'll stick with it. You'll notice in this group that people's weight spikes and then flatens out again. It happens to all of us, and it can happen for a host of reasons -- more sodium in a meal, cyles, irregular bathroom habits, not enough sleep, not enough water, too much/too little food... If it was easy, none of us would be in the group. Go easy on yourself. As long as the overall trend is that the number is going lower over time, then you're doing the right things. Goal weight: 120 lbs.
 Height: 5’2”
 Total loss: 52 lbs.
End of Sept. weight: 187.8 lbs.

 Jan. 16- 178 lbs.4
