Heather - The marker images are quite kicky, and they look like you're having fun together. While you're playing, you should play with different paper textures - they act quite differently on different papers and surfaces from canvas to various fabrics as well.
Rita - Sorry I don't have advice on where to look for your watch. Terribly frustrating, I know, especially with something expensive. It was always quite helpful to make me do impromptu cleaning, though, if there is any silver lining.
Barbara - Waking up from those high-emotion dreams always leaves a sticky hangover for me, I'm glad that you were able to use my philosophizing to help, even if just a little.
Vicki & Heather - And everyone who commented on my contretemps with Corey and his preciouses... Mainly because of your suggestions, and just the fact that there was a possibility to change things, I called him today and asked him if he'd be willing to drag it down to the old stable, where so much of his collected stuff now exists. It would not be visible there from the house. He laughed and said we'll take a look at it. I'm OK with that. I can't believe it took me six years to ask for that...
Anyway, the kids have come and gone and I have pictures of the new apartment, which is not to my taste (dark wood, dark granite, dark tile - very modern), but is making them very happy. Plus lots of amenities quite near them. I hope they're very happy there.
I just woke up from a wonderful and badly needed nap which hopefully helped me recover somewhat from Tuesday's cleaning binge and then the overnight guests last night. Cardio in the morning, gastro in the afternoon, still debating whether to drive home a half hour to rest for only a couple hours in between. I guess I'll play it by ear.
Much love from sunny, balmy, Arkansas,
Lisa
My face. I have noticed that in "resting Rebecca face" I have lines on both sides of my mouth pulling it visually down. So not a fun thing to look at! So I try to smile, as my momma used to say, "to give the world a pretty picture and make it reflect back onto you".
I wanna look at smiling people.😁

It's a little game for me ... I'll smile at someone (work colleagues, sales staff in stores, etc.) who isn't smiling and see if they'll smile back at me.

Regarding the fencing ...
The local club has a set of 7 lessons for complete beginners each year. I almost signed up last year but we were so busy that I didn't. So I did this year.
We had our first lesson yesterday and it was really good. We warmed up with walking/jogging and stretching, then learned some of the footwork. I'm really comfortable doing the footwork left handed (or left footed?).
Then we got kitted up and got to fence with each other!
While I'm comfortable doing the footwork left, I'm not sure about wielding my épée with my left hand. I can do it, but ...
So when I got home, I did some weights to help build up my arm and hand strength.

Annie – yea for you getting on that bike. You always amaze me how you get right back on the horse
Colby and Vince left to go to Daytona. Seems they’re pushing up today’s race to 4 hoping to get it in before it rains too hard. I’m glad, I got the feeling that Colby really wanted to go. Update: they only got the qualifying in. Race will be run on Monday. I have a strong suspicion that the 500 will be rained out and run on Monday although NASCAR hasn’t officially made that statement.
Pip – I love the newer blinds. They are so much easier to raise/lower then the older ones. Good job! How DARE you tell us you’re getting a new car and not give any more details! Like make, model, color
Debbie – love Godzilla, especially the lights
M = Vince took fencing in college and we have his sword and mask still in our garage.

Heather - I need more storage so that was the number one reason I wanted the cabinet. The second is that I am tired that the bench and hooks I had there always looked so messy. I have a couple of ideas swirling around my head on how to do that area. It’s more money, a lot more frustration and would require me to wait until summer for Rodger to build something. He certainly has the talent for it though.
Sorry about the problems with your legs, my MIL is suffering with hers too for the last few years. It’s so difficult.
She also had problems with her legs and ankles in 1994, in 1995 she had a bypass surgery because her blood wasn’t circulating to her feet. She told me to check for pulse in my feet if they ever started hurting.
I just saw your update about looking further on YouTube. I hope the regime helps!
Machka - exciting things happening. It must be such a relief that Rowan’s settlement is finished. I started reading this group when he was in the hospital in April 2018, I kept coming back to see how he was doing.
Michele - I would be jealous of a new bathroom too. I really want to do our bathroom. Currently, a good clean and scrub would help it. 😂
No I don’t spray the inside of the snowman, it’s an indoor decoration for Christmas so it’s fine.
Rebecca - I’m so incredibly happy for you that you have been having this time with your boys.
Joy - have a wonderful trip, I have never been to NFLD or the territories. I would like to go sometime. Do you have family there?
Pip - The blinds look great.
Lanette - I’m going to try those tests. I bet you did much better than I will.
Ginny - one of my favourite pastimes has always been rearranging furniture and items. Unfortunately, I can’t do the big furniture here but the little stuff and decorations I do a lot.
I think doctors don’t get enough time with us now to really dig deep enough.
Debbie - not my cup of tea either, but it’s impressive. I’m glad your DH is getting away for the weekend, he needs it.
My friend, Jeb’s owner came over for a visit today with Jeb. Her and I ended up going shopping this evening. I bought a little sign to have for decor on the other side of my archway. I managed to get the table side done today. I need to put something on the tin pieces, and my daughter thinks I need something under the EAT but I haven’t decided yet.
Tomorrow morning I hope to get that finished because the Grands and their mom are coming for a visit tomorrow afternoon.
Not much else to say, have a good night/morning all.

Debbie-My grown-up son could be Godzilla's biggest fan. He literally has everything Godzilla. He even did his baby's bedroom in Godzilla.

Kim-Your paw flower painting is terribly sweet and beautiful.
So I took a page out of you ladies decluttering books and on a whim got started this weekend. I am a retired teacher who inherited boxes upon boxes of my mother's and great aunt's teaching supplies. So I not only have to declutter mine, but theirs. Also, my girls are 16 and 18 and I have boxes of school memories that I kept as well. So (and I realize I've said "So" three times now, but it's working for me) so, I had to go through the girls papers and even some of their baby clothes. This is my tally:
3 boxes of schoolwork down to one
4 boxes of books down to two
2 large boxes of teaching paperwork down to one-half
4 boxes of other's teaching paperwork down to one-quarter
Tomorrow more of the same and start on the clothes

Michele thanks. Your level of exercise is impressive! Hope you are enjoying Florida. We still have snow on the ground.
I am paying for that mocha latte with insomnia. I do so much better without caffeine. And I have a busy day coming up.
I decided to attend a church service by Zoom. The socializing will be good for me. And Dad doesn't care if I push back lunch by half an hour, so I could actually go in person. Except that I need air in my tires so I need to fix that before I drive that far. But I'm sort of nervous about strangers, which only goes to show I need more socialization. Like a puppy.
I should receive the Rubin book about habits late tonight. I'm looking forward to it. Thanks Barbie!

Annie: Bravo on getting back on the bus, so to speak. I had to rethink my attitude to reaching maintenance. Going back to old habits will only take me back to where I started. The habits I developed when losing weight have to be permanent if I want to maintain.
April: Most definitely the food you eat will affect how you feel. I always feel a bit off if I have over-indulged.
Rebecca: I’m delighted that you have had your boys for an extended visit. You joy jumps off the page.
Have a grand day!

Terri thank you!
Noom starts my day with a little pep talk about dieting. Very cheerful. That little bit of encouragement is valuable! There's not that much new information, just a little boost with just a touch of choice, personalization, and commitment. I answer some questions by clicking on a button that says "I commit to..." I bet in ten years they will have AI chatbots for that kind of coaching. Hope it gets cheaper.
Anyway, I need to keep the calories low today because I'm going out tomorrow. Let's see if I can skip my Sunday ice cream to trade for something at the restaurant.

Lanette - I did all the tests and came out with flying colours! The only one I couldn't do was my right hand at the bottom back stretch. With my left hand lowest, I can do it v easily. I don't have 5 lb weights, so I used my 2 kg. I was way over, so I count that as OK. I use 7 kg dumbbells every day anyway.
I managed to get through the night without pain killers. A bit achy, but I did get to sleep, albeit broken. Today I've taken aspirin in preparation for walking to the restaurant. Haven't taken those in years! But I guess they can't hurt for circulation.
It just seems so weird to me that I can do all these tests perfectly, but my blood circulation to my legs is compromised. I'm so glad I now know what the problem is and have a plan. The intermittent claudication is very activity limiting, so I'm determined to grow those extra blood vessels!
Tracey - Loving your decor. You have a great eye.
Max arrives any minute. I wanted to take him to an Indian restaurant, but our local ones are shut at lunchtime, so it's going to be the Persian.
Poor John is still sore on his gum, and can't wear his plate. Very gappy. Bea said, "Do you mind if I ask you a question? " ....... "Why have you got gaps in your mouth?" So sweet of her to ask politely.
I'm trying to cook him soft food. He will have chicken at the restaurant, not his usual lamb.

Good morning ladies!
I weighed myself on my new scale midday yesterday at 190. First thing this morning I hit 184! Six pounds overnight! My weight always fluctuated a lot, but that's incredible. I don't quite trust it. But I must have weighed myself six times yesterday (new toy!) and it gradually came down.
But still, what a joyful start to my latest drive! I really can do this! Yay!
Have a great day!

Michelle in NV great work on decluttering!
Annie in Delaware1 -
Weight fluctuations can happen for a number of reasons:
- if you weigh yourself first thing in the morning after your morning pee, you will likely be the lightest because food is digested and liquid is out.
- liquid and food weigh something. 500 ml of liquid will be half a kilogram. If you've had a big cup of black coffee and glass of water (like I do each morning), and if you weigh yourself before and after, you'll see the change.
- on the other hand, dehydration will show a loss ... but that's not good.
- things like air travel, warm weather, sunburn, lack of sleep, more exercise than usual, surgery, too much salt, and several other things will show a weight gain from water weight.
- if your scale is on a carpet, it won't show a good consistent reading. It's got to be on a solid surface.
It's best to be consistent. Pick a time and weigh yourself at that time each day. That way you can track patterns and trends.
This is why I weigh myself every day in the morning after my morning pee. I can see the patterns and trends that way. I know that Saturday morning will show my best weight of the week, so mentally, I sort of count that one as "official".
When I'm dropping weight, it might be a whole kilogram in a week, but during the week, it will be small portions of a kilogram (200 grams, 400 grams, etc.)
A big overnight loss would have me suspecting I'm quite dehydrated.

I decided to walk to the restaurant with John and Max. Quite a pace, but I kept up. And I got there without any claudication. It was uncomfortable, but not too painful. 20 mins brisk walk. I'm encouraged. I got the bus back.
The meal was great, as usual. John and Max had the same thing, Koubideh, which is minced lamb sausages.
Before we set off we showed Max the famous Morecambe and Wise sketch that we had saved on record for him. The one with André Previn. I must have seen it 12 or more times and it still makes me laugh. Max plays the piano, so we thought it would amuse him. It did.
Now for a nap before my Zoom with 'the girls' - my old school friends.

Good morning from the temporarily frozen climes of the Arkansas River Valley...
My thermometer says 9 degrees out this morning (-13C!), and it's supposed to climb up to 50 (10C) before the day is out, with late spring temps coming by mid-week. No wonder my sinuses are in a swivet. Egg wouldn't even go outside this morning. She stuck her head out the carport door, looked at me like I'd lost my mind, and went to curl up on the couch. And she's wearing a fur coat.
Medical stuff:I'm trying really hard not to dread the week to come, but with four medical appointments in three days, it's a struggle. Orthopedics on Monday, cardiologist Tuesday, and gynecologist then acupuncture on Wednesday. Everything covered from my shoulders to my calves...
I get bogged down in it, because it seems it's a matter of making my life harder so my life won't be harder. Catch-22. You're only sick if you say you're sick, but if you don't say you're sick, you won't get what you need to get better. Urk.
Anyway, enough--trying to maintain the perspective that, if I were in a country without this kind of healthcare, I'd be dead already, which makes me feel a bit better. Plus, if I hadn't decided to serve my country 45 years ago, I'd be paying thousands more to get this care now.
More adventures in home reno:Corey was so great yesterday, did all the heavy lifting to get the big wire rack out of the mudroom. Then he moved the chest freezer out of the laundry room into the mudroom, then removed all the coat racks from the kitchen entryway and put them up in the mudroom, diminishing the chaos in the kitchen sharply. He was even able to get a place in the mudroom for him to sit and put his boots on.
Then he shifted enough stuff out of the workshop to get the big wire shelf in there, diminishing a lot of the chaos in the workshop. We're slowly getting things into the spaces where they belong. The laundry room is becoming a full utility room, as the vacuum and all the brooms and mops, etc. will now fit in there. He's going to build some shelves for his sunroom kitchen this afternoon after it warms up, and will put up the hanger for the mops and brooms in the laundry room while he's at it.
I would take pictures of all this, but it's honestly not picture-worthy, just moving all our stuff around. I will take a picture once we put up the door to the laundry room. I've got gravity hinges on order, and we already have the door we can use so we can put up a swinging door. It means I can bump it open even with a laundry hamper in hand.
It's all been one big reshuffle, and it will take a week or so for us to be able to find things. When I've got a little energy, I'm going to start repairing the holes and scobs in the kitchen walls so we can get them and the ceiling painted.
We've got the paint, but doing the actual painting just fell a couple of notches on the priority list a few years back. Now we'll have to wait until it's warm enough that we can strain it - when paint freezes, it can be made reusable, but you have to work with it quite a bit to get it reconditioned. That requires pouring back and forth from one five-gallon bucket to another, which requires my husband, because I don't play with 50+ pounds dangling from a metal bail anymore. If I was doing it myself, I'd do it one gallon at a time, which would be inCREDibly messy.
Anyway...
Annie - I'm of the notion that, if it gets you inspired and moving on this new journey, take the loss and run with it. The point, as noted elsewhere, is not so much what the scale says, it's about the change from one week to the next. Proud of you for getting back on the bike and walking, I'm terrible about letting these medical setbacks push me out of exercising, and you're always an inspiration.
Heather - Inspiration from you, as well. Much as I hate the medical stuff, I need to find out what's going on and find a way through this maze back to health. Your relentless drive to be healthy keeps me trudging onward.
Lanette - Thank you so much - I saved the PDF of the list to try out the baseline exercises at some point when my husband is nowhere in sight so I can get a legit reading. I'm pretty sure I know where I'm going to fall short, but having it in black & white might push me to get back to working on these things.
And... I'm off to find some breakfast that's reasonably healthy and get Corey his third cup of coffee. Hope it is or was a peaceful Sunday for all.
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR
