I just had to share this. A friend of mine shared it on FB.
This is an actual extract from a sex education textbook for girls, printed in the early 1960's in the UK. As far as we have come, we have so far to go!!
“When retiring to the bedroom, prepare yourself for bed as promptly as possible. Whilst feminine hygiene is of the utmost importance, your tired husband does not want to queue for the bathroom, as he would have to do for his train. But remember to look your best when going to bed. Try to achieve a look that is welcoming without being obvious. If you need to apply face cream or hair-rollers wait until he is asleep as this can be shocking to a man last thing at night.
When it comes to the possibility of intimate relations with your husband it is important to remember your marriage vows and in particular your commitment to obey him. If he feels that he needs to sleep immediately then so be it. In all things be led by your husband's wishes; do not pressure him in any way to stimulate intimacy.
Should your husband suggest Congress then agree humbly all the while being mindful that a man's satisfaction is more important than a woman's. When he reaches his moment of fulfillment a small moan from yourself is encouraging to him and quite sufficient to indicate any enjoyment that you may have had.
Should your husband suggest any of the more unusual practices be obedient and uncomplaining but register any reluctance by remaining silent. It is likely that your husband will then fall promptly asleep so adjust your clothing, freshen up, and apply your night-time face and hair care products. You may then set the alarm so that you can arise shortly before him in the morning. This will enable you to have his morning cup of tea ready when he awakes.”

KJ Yes I think the lawyer will want to do POA and MPOA along with updating the will. I ought to get that appointment scheduled soon.
Lanette yes fun to dream. We shall see if I actually do it this time. I just started with a new church, so that might be enough change for now. But I could do an online self paced course. Hmm. I was expecting more dating, too, but that's not going well.
Time for meditation. That might slip if I got busier.

Lanette-I also was concerned when you talked about being on ladder so I am glad you shared the picture-that is the only type I use-I gave the others to my son. I do have a smaller step stool type I use for the kitchen cupboards. I have a healthy respect for not falling!
Annie-I wonder if the house, etc. are already addressed in father's will? I know you said you found one after your mother died. It isn't unusual for all to be set up at the same time.-Oops-just saw your response that you are going to get will updated-great way to handle it-just tell your dad you and your sister will feel better knowing he took care of things.
KJ-So glad the little one is coming out of her shell! Enjoy the visit with family!
Rita-you did have a busy day!
Betsy-good progress on clean out! Mine has been a continuous process. There are still times when I find something and discover I am asking DH what the heck he ever kept that for-and why did he leave if for me to deal with!
Allie-I agree with the advice given by KJk
Morning snow has stopped-don't know if this will be the last-it is warming up this week. Put together new bench for living room. Wanted something that didn't take up much room but added a couple of seats if needed occasionally. Will load pictures of it and new bar stools later.
Going to take some cardboard to recycling and then run to store-didn't go this am due to weather.
Take care all,

Today’s gratitude: mild temperatures, could reach 60F at dog group today
Annie you are in a very hard place. Please do what you can to prepare yourself. Talk to your sister, and to an elder lawyer. And yes get your health and resume ready to be back on your own again. ((hugs))
Heather know you and Johnny feel blessed by the grands, but wow what a blessing you are to DS and DDIL!
Betsy bet the thrift store will be happy to receive the baseball bats, clam and snow shovels. Ours would “… not persuasive enough”
Barbie painful sort of decluttering, . . ((hugs))
KJ “all I had to do was build a spaceship” the pic. So very very VERY well done! ((happy hugs)) Yours to Annie about the trusted male. V. insightful, hope it helps.
Lanette I have a ladder just like yours, and neither will I use it to change a lightbulb without a spotter

Heather - your son and daughter-in-law's comments made me think how it feels when I have my grands with me. It must be amazing to feel as if you can genuinely trust your children to someone, so that you can completely forget about being a parent for just a little while. It's a lovely gift you gave them. And the return gift, of course, is your time with the grands. These moments, these days, will matter all their lives.
Love,

Lanette-I don’t think it’s a floater in my eye. I don’t see anything “floating.” It is much worse when I get migraines. For a while, I felt like it was improving, but this week I’ve had a significant issue.
But this does bother me. I am going to go to an ophthalmologist as soon as my new insurance kicks in. Right now, we are having trouble getting our benefit admin to send payment for Feb. Ugh. Insurance in this country is such a pain.
Heather-Glad you finally go help! I admire your tenacity when it comes to things that bother you.
Tracey-Great job! I love learning, but I’m glad I don’t have projects anymore. I had a giggle at that text from the sex ed book.
Machka-I’m with you on the eye things. I am not too squeamish about things either…but eyes are definitely “oogy” for me too.
Kelly-It was me asking about photos of exes. I don’t have them displayed, but I have a bunch in photo albums. I don’t really like looking at them, so I think they’ll go into the shredder. Thanks for that story.
Eyes and head still bothering me today. It’s supposed to rain again this week, so I am wondering if that is causing it. Migraines really stink. I can’t lie down because that doesn’t help and sometimes makes it worse. Can’t do much because I just feel like complete garbage. Can’t read much. Can’t do research, don’t feel like exercising. It’s just such a waste of time having them…and painful. Nothing helps.
Hope you all have a better day than I am having!

Good morning, ladies.
Lanette, I have the same ladder you posted. I bought it a couple of years ago to use in my kitchen as I was using a chair to get up onto the counter to reach to the top of my cupboards to clean. I was feeling standing on the counter to clean the top of the cupboards wasn't a smart idea given my age (73 now). The ladder is very stable and have found it useful when cleaning other areas in the home.
Tracey, your binders are awesome. You should be very proud of the job you are doing. I'm sure you will easily get a placement. Enjoy our warm, sunny weather while it lasts.
Went through my seed catalogue and put an order in for my garden seeds. Cutting back and eliminating some things. Not growing green beans as neither of us really care for them as a vegetable. Will still have quite a few peas though as that is a favorite and enjoy them frozen through the winter. Just doing two short rows of corn to enjoy fresh. DH is giving me a bit of grief about cutting back on potatoes. Hopefully he will be too busy in the spring to notice or care about my garden planting. I'm just putting in enough to enjoy fresh and maybe store a couple of bags in the basement in the fall. The days of planting 40 or 50 hills and dealing with them in the fall is over.

Got everyone showered and dressed, then we started on the Art. Max was playing on his phone.
The girls made drinks coasters, John did an ink wash, and I did a grid drawing with our new pens.
Max took the photos.
Then the parents came to pick them up and had coffee. They had a great time playing VIPS at the nightclub.
We are invited to Shandiz for Bea's birthday in March. Hooray!!!!
Now relaxing.

I got my Dad's taxes done! Yay! I celebrated with ice cream, which put me 230 calories over. I wish I could afford to celebrate with a massage. My back hurts again from leaning over the computer with my short arms.

Boo hoo. The battery died on my pedometer in the middle of my walk this morning. The step counter on my phone said more than 9000 steps and the pedometer in my pocket with the dead battery said just over 4000 steps. That's the biggest problem in my life right now.
Kelly, since Sasha died almost two years ago, I've done most of my walking by myself. I still walk as much as I ever did, but it's without a dog. Bessie has never wanted to walk far. Annie is only 9 months old and she likes to walk but not for too long. I average over 13,000 steps a day.
Lanette, thanks for sharing the photo of the ladder you use. I have a similar one and use it to get one step above the ground.

Good morning all! I meant to really sleep in;
Debbie- A while back you posted pics of yours/your DH's 3D printed/molded dragons and percussion frogs. Those are amazing! Do you guys have an etsy site or website to sell them? I bet you would do pretty well! Also, I am curious, does it bother your DH that you have a mug with a pic of your and your ex on it and you use it regularly? I know that something like that would really bother my hubby. He would say it doesn't but it would be a constant niggling in the back of his brain and his mood would deteriorate because of the ugly thoughts that it would conjure. Just asking.
I know I have missed some of you and welcome to all of the new women in our group. Sorry to all for the extraordinarily long post. lol Skim/skip as needed! I better get busy with my day. ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)
We don't have an Etsy store- He is just doing the shows. He started out going to help his friend and then slowly started taking a couple big things with him, like the rifles he made that are duplicates and better than the prop from Star Trek(he added sound chips, lights, etc to his) and helmets(Battlestar Gallactica and Power Ranger).
He is just starting out doing all the articulated stuff. A few years ago, when he first started out, he printed and painted or I painted and decorated things that were printed with black filament. Now we are using all the fancy type filaments that looks amazing with out painting or just a little embellishment.
He is at the show in Stockton now. In just 2 hrs since the show started, he has made about $200. The table space, because he is sharing with his friend, is super small , about 4' square. Most of the stuff is priced between $10-15. Starts at $4 and the most expensive is his lighted Godzilla on the acrylic base and he is pricing that at $65 . The base is almost 12" across so he is big. One has lights, one doesnt.
I can see from the picture of his display, he is pushing his Godzilla more than all the rest of the stuff, because that is what he likes. I would do it a lot different. I couldn't go because I have to be here to take over MIL duty today. She has a friend coming by tomorrow and said I don't have to come(said I don't have to come at all but I am NOT falling for that again).
As for dh and my ex. He hasn't mentioned it. They have met once and actually got along well. I don't think he even notices my mug, honestly. He is in his room, oblivious to what is going on in the house- never knows when our son is home or not- IF he came out of his room, he would know.
He says he doesn't come in the living room(where I am 80% of the time) is because it is too messy.
Well, while he is gone this weekend I have a list of things I want to do. Stay home is one and clean /declutter the kitchen, living room and a pile of my laundry I need to put away. Kitchen table is done-that was the biggest part. This is nothing new. He has been doing this for YEARS, long before I reconnected with former hubby. And no, the living room hasn't always been messy- it does get a bit cluttered at times with daycare kid stuff but even when it is super neat, he doesn't spend any time in here and if he does, he has the tv on and is on his phone(like I am not even in the room)

edit- dh has sold all of the bigger Godzilla, there were two in the metal frames(only one in the picture) and also the one with the four heads. Not sure how many of the block ones he has sold.
Not my thing but they are selling. New Godzilla movie is coming out so that is why he is pushing them.
I was pushing to get more Easter stuff-rabbits, sheep and other cute stuff. Not sure how much of that has sold but now that his Godzilla stuff is almost all gone, he will have more room to put more out.

KJ - Edie's conversations keep me absolutely riveted. She asks about everything and is so thoughtful and intuitive. She's been the same since she was a baby. Somehow the conversation got around to when I was not well when her dad was at uni. He had told her he used to come home for weekends to be with me. He did. She said she had heard about older 'women's troubles' from a book! I asked her if any of her friends had started their periods yet. She said maybe one. She was quite happy talking about it all in the kitchen with John there. She emanates light for me.
I said that time was one of the worst eras of my life for me, so we all talked together about good and bad times in our lives. She said her worst time was having flu and diarrhoea together, but it meant she was allowed to watch TV all day!
I hope so much that we are able to negotiate the teenage years together. I know things will change, but I would love to keep the channels open.
So excited for you to be having the family with you soon! What a house full!
Lisa - It's truly the most magical, unexpected gift in both our lives. So sorry Hawaii is so far away. I presume both health and funds are stopping you going out there. Mainly the difficulty of long-distance travelling. At the moment I can hardly contemplate a trip to London. So very annoying. I really want to be able to walk a decent distance once again.
Love you all, going up to read now. I might migrate beds, as I slept for 90 minutes after lunch and could be awake a while..

Get involved in a sport ... playing it or volunteering with it in some way.
There is often a higher number of males involved in sports than females.
Take cycling for example. When I have been riding or organising events, I am often the only female or one of a very small number of females.
Getting involved with a sport, even volunteering, would give you some experience for your resume and would get you out there getting to know people ... and who knows, perhaps even dating.

Good evening 🌛
I got some really good news yesterday evening. I haven’t mentioned this before, but my oldest son (41) was hit by a car on Jan. 3rd and critically injured. He was in ICU for 3 weeks in a coma with 2 skull fractures, a traumatic brain injury, brain swelling, facial fractures, internal bleeding, collapsed lung, and all the ribs and collarbone on one side were broken. He was moved to a critical care center toward the end of January. While he’s endured a lot of hurdles, (breathing tube, tracheostomy, feeding tube, and still being in a coma), they have worked with him at the center to where he no longer needs the trach, can breath on his own, and while he is still technically in a coma, he’s been able to open his eyes occasionally, and respond with a hand squeeze when they ask him to respond.
The good news is that he will be able to leave the critical care center next week, and go to a nursing home within half an hour from me, ( right now he’s 3 ½ hours away from me) for his care and physical therapy! The doctors at the hospital had very little hope of him recovering, or even surviving. But I know my son, he has been through a lot in his life, but he is strong and a fighter. So I told them not to count him out yet, and that he will surprise them all. And he has!
Official weigh-in day tomorrow. Fingers crossed! 🤞
Have a good evening. 🌃
