HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEBBIE AND MACHKA!!
RVRITA3 -
Went to the osteopath. He thinks it's postural and too tight muscles in back and hips. I have got to sit in a leaning back position, which I do most of the time anyway, apply hot water bottles to back and hips, and lie with my knees apart and A frame as often as I can. I'm not convinced, but will give it a go. I am to stay off the machines for now, and make sure I am not leaning forward to do the art. I did wonder about the art, as it does coincide with the pain worsening.
I told him I would book follow ups after I've got all my results back, but really I want to see what the sports clinic says first.
So, I'm going to order my water bottles from Amazon!
He said I had very strong legs! I enjoyed all the pushing and pulling he did. Lovely! Could do that every day.
It's just nice to be taken seriously.

I put some information on the squats challenge thread about squats and senior (I hate the word ‘elderly’!). It talks about squats and strength training for seniors. If you are interested, here is the direct link. The info is on page 12:

Lisa - I did get 100% as a final grade for this course. I think this is the first one with a quiz or exam I’ve been able to do that.
Thanks for the link to the pulleys.
Debbie - happy to read someone acknowledged your birthday.
Kay - I’m finding it easier to maintain so far.
Machka - I can’t sit with my legs straight out either and I need good lumbar support.
Happy Birthday!!!
Lanette - is that a good time for eggs to be laid? Every 25-30 hours?
April - I hope you get some answers regarding your son. Congratulations on the loss!
Sue - I hope she just leaves so you don’t have to deal with her anymore. Very glad that you have someone coming.
Heather - I hope that he’s right, posture is important. Every pain I’ve had has been linked to posture it seems. Well except my hip injury at Kaitlyn’s wedding, but that turned into a posture problem because I walked incorrectly for so long.
Rita - the research I was doing stated how anxiety became worse in the elderly, 55-84 years. I took offence to that. 😂
Speaking of pain, Kaitlyn was in terrible pain with her back yesterday. She and I are both a bit worried. She had two slipped discs in 2010 and suffered terribly until June 2012 when she was case study number 5 in North America to have prosthetic discs put in. She had received a letter a couple of years ago stating that some had the discs move a bit and they had to be repositioned. She doesn’t think that this pain is that though because the pain is not going down her legs and she feels it’s more muscular.
We managed to get one box of photos sorted yesterday. She took two home with her to sort and I’m going to work on older ones here. She took ones that she would know the years the pictures were taken.
What a huge project I’ve started.
Oh as promised here is a pic of my straight hair. September 1984, I was 16 and too cool to wear my glasses which I paid for a few years down the road.

Debbie and Machka Happy Birthday, today 3/9 is also my mom's birthday, but she is older than you gals at 95 today!!!
I will see her on Monday and bring her here for Monday afternoon - Wednesday mid day. We will celebrate with dinner out probably Monday, and then early St Patty's day dinner on Tuesday - corned beef, cabbage, carrots, red potatoes..... all boiled together, I like the corned beef, and potatoes but prefer the cabbage and carrots not boiled. But is one of my mom's favorite holiday meals, so I will make it and send home with her a couple of meals of left overs.

well, I woke up and decided the thing I was going to do for myself on my birthday weekend was make a trip to the bank to deposit money into my secret account(mom and my best friend know about it, dh doesn't- it is a "just in case" account). Got the money together, called to see when the bank opened and found out- they are no longer open on Saturdays. Need to figure out when I can go down by myself during the week.
I will have to do it on a day I usually walk and just go there and have a shorter walk or say I am going early to walk. Need to deposit once in a while to keep it active.
Baked my "Tropical banana cake with a tropical topping" for the ladies luncheon.
Cheated and started with a yellow cake mix, added mashed bananas, crushed pineapple, shredded coconut(unsweetened) and pecans. Toppings have all the added ingredients, minus the banana but with brown sugar added. Looks and smells great- will have to try it and see. Made two. I will take one and keep one. Second one doesn't have topping on it yet but have enough of everything if I want to.
Will do some decluttering/cleaning when I get back. Supposed to rain so won't work in the yard.
Have a wonderful weekend ladies.

Tracey - for what it's worth, this is the advice he gave me. It's worth trying, as it can't do any harm.
Don't sit leaning forward, as we do for crafts or eating. Apparently, it stiffens the back and causes tensions all the way down the thighs. He picked up that I tend to do that when talking. (Normally though, I'm semi recumbent, so I'm a bit sceptical,as I only do crafts a few hours a week)
Lie down on the floor, sofa, bed, with a pillow under your head and make an A frame with your knees with knees apart. I've been doing that most of the evening. Use hot water bottles on your back and thighs to relax the tight muscles. I used John's heat pad this afternoon, but I've ordered two bottles from Amazon, to arrive tomorrow.
So, I will obey instructions and it might help you because you do a lot of leaning forward desk and craft work. When possible, put a cushion behind your back and lean backwards. Don't quite know how I'm going to paint like that, but I might have to get a small easel.
I'm going to sleep upstairs tonight as I'm going to treat myself to a rare Nytol, and it makes me snore!
I also have found it works better for me to wear my gym trainers around the house with my orthotics in. They are the ones on elastic with a pad underneath. Seems to stabilise my hips.

Heather: I hope these non-surgical interventions work and that you are able to avoid surgery. I love the picture of your brother and DSIL! Such fashion style!
Debbie: Happy Birthday..Can you and your DH go out another day for a birthday meal? I am sorry he is not very sentimental. Is there a whole sale flower shop near your. Could you take a little cash and purchase some flowers whole sale and make a floral arrangement for yourself?
Barbara from Oregon: I haven't loaded any pictures yet. Maybe I will try to do so!
Machka: Happy Birthday and lovely coloring!
Lisa: I have done yoga the last 2 Fridays. It is very slow yoga and this yoga retreat I am going on in August will probably be faster paced. I need to find time to do some yoga on my own. This retreat will be up near Asheville NC.
RV Rita: I like the Origami!
Grandmallie: I listen to some meditation music to get to sleep. It is on a timer. I own Hypnosis for Deep Sleep and Mindfulness Meditation for Anxiety on Audio...by the Joel Hypnosis Academy. I set it for 30 minutes and it often works to get me to sleep.
Ginny: Glad the house is close to ready! My son and DIL are coming Tuesday evening. I have vacuumed half the upstairs and mopped the kitchen and cleaned the bathroom. There is still much to do. I am very tired in the evenings and don't get much done.
PIPCD: I hope they return the money on the camper. Glad you noticed it did not have outside power outlets.
Tracey: Congrats on the presentation. I know your Grand mom never intended for you to think you were ever a nuisance. Maybe she and your parents needed to have some discussion about expectations.
Atnowornever: Congrats on your walk.
Sue: Hope your tenant pays or leaves!
Vickie: So glad you are off the weekend!
Rebecca: Your visit to Sea-Tac sounds exhausting! I love the picture of your grandson!
Beth: You got quite a bit accomplished for Spring clean. I have a ways to go!
Michelle: So glad you are relaxing by the pool!
Well I have been going to exercise class which is an improvement and I have been feeling much better!
I am having an issue with a friend of 17 years. I want to add more distance into the friendship. A big decision and one that I hope is mutual. So far I have entered widowhood, changed from a yard man/handy man of 10 years and now I want space from this friend ship. I do wish this person well.
I am looking forward to meeting some new people. I hope this happens. It will be interesting to see what the future holds!
This week I am going with a travel group to Gibb's Gardens, north of Atlanta. This is a day trip. I have never been there. I am excited to get out of town and have a change of pace! I got my nails done this afternoon...just a regular manicure...not a gel manicure. But hopefully this will last long enough for the week. So I will see my son and DIL and have a day trip out of town. Hope I don't overeat!
Best,
Rosemarie from Georgia

Took cold medicine last night, as I felt like I was stuffed up in my sinuses etc. I slept from 9pm to 9 am! Medicine head! At 1:00 pm I made a slice of bacon, 2 slices of sausage patties, a hash brown Pattie and a big omelet with a slice of cheddar inside. It was all glorious and I most likely won't eat anything else today. Feed my cold!
Need to take inventory of our freezer so we know what's in there to make meals from. When you have leftovers, its easy to throw them in the freezer and forget about them.
Well our trip to see family wasn't too much of a financial situation. We still have our dental appointments coming up, and depending on how much those are, determines if we can manage our summertime coastal trip. Hopefully with husband's dental work we can do a payment plan.
Course before we make another long trip, we need to give our Chevy Spark some love. Maybe new tires. Its always something after you finally pay a car off, they slowly start to show their age. We are constantly mulling over the idea of trading her in for a newer, bigger car. One with GPS features, and cruise control. Then there's just the main issue of long trips. I am not as keen to participate in them as I once was. Husband isn't keen being the main driver anymore. So maybe a trip to a mainland hotel, with spa/pool/hot tubs might be better. It all depends of things outside my control. Hey you don't have 40th wedding anniversaries but once in your marriage, and we need to do something special.😁💖👍🏼
Happy BELATED birthdays to Machka, and Debbie!!! Lets just have a week to celebrate our birthdays k? You are very special ladies, and help motivate us all!
Hugs!
Rebecca

Wow! What a day for weather. We have had clouds, sunshine, rain, hail and strong winds so far. Lights have flickered a few times. Tenant is currently not around. DD has arrived safely in Las Vegas.
Lisa - I have atrophic vaginitis and use a small tablet (Yuvafem) inserted twice a week. It does help and after a while I noticed that it also improved bladder and rectal tone. Good luck.
Hope all on the east coast are safe from the weather.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA2
