Part of the "process" is realizing what your triggers are.
#1 - Binge watching a TV series that I've saved where the cast drinks, drinks, drinks while filming. If I watch during the day, no problemo, I don't/won't drink before 5 pm. If I watch after dinner...the urge to join in is very strong.
#2 - This discussion group. After posting that I've been AF for X# of days, I'm tempted to "reward" myself with 🍷.
Been AF since I last posted that I downed half a bottle of wine...tonight's AF beer is chilling right now.
A grilled cheese sandwich or a cup of plain yogurt just before bedtime keeps me asleep til morning. Anything dairy. Now if only I could find something to keep Catpucinno sleeping past sunrise...facepat-facepat , time to get up and PLAY!!8 -
Hello everyone
went out for our 'weekly indulgence' had my 2 beer, home, nap then will be AF until..most likely next week.
Started the process of making a vat of chili to can so DH has his go to lunch foods LOL. Beans in the pressure cooker, stew mean browned, and then put it all together in a large pot to simmer with sauce. Tomorrow I will get out the pressure cooker and seal them all up. I hope next year I can use the tomato's from our own garden instead of canned.
@MissMay I am back to painting too. Only rocks but still.....have a closet of canvases calling my name.8 -

Accountability post:
Feeling better about things going on inside and around me. 💝
I have been having the Kendall Jackson low alcohol Chardonnay 9% (85 cals) and mostly less portions of 1-2 each day this week.
However, my desire is to stop the daily sips now that this family situation is calming down.
Determined to get back to having wine only about twice a week and make 10 AF days this month!
Actual:
AF - 5

LA - 11 - low alcohol % or under limit6 -
I will be so glad when my college class is over. I'm on my last one. It's an 8 week online class...ethics. It is brutal. I'd rather go back and take my accounting classes over. I will finally get my degree. Woohoo. May 10 I will be done forever. N/A beer has been my friend for the past 51 days. That's how long I've been AF.11

Tonight I'm having a ginger turmeric cbd tea and watching RuPaul's Drag Race. Happy Friday!6 -
Picked up some fresh fish and groceries for the weekend yesterday, along with some NA beer (Stella NA 0.0). Followed through with my plans and was AF last night! Slept really well and woke up with a smile on my face and clear head. Now I am ready to prep my garden beds on this mild, cloudy spring day. Will be AF again tonight and I welcome it! Anyone else know that feeling?
This month has taught me that by holding onto my faith, I can go through hard things.

Sorry, I've been a bit MIA in the commenting (other than just listing my accountability list). Just read through the last few days of posts now.
@forestdweller1 Triggers are sometimes so easy to see and other times, not so much. I've created a list of things to do instead of drinking, and the really important part for me is to not have any alcohol when I'm doing them for the first time. Otherwise, I'll start to associate a glass of wine with that activity.
@NonnieDoiron congrats of the dip in the scale!
@xbowhunter thanks for the kudos. I hope you have a great time in Ontario, and I'd probably be imbibing too.
@Michieb125 I'm glad to hear things are calming down in and around you. Good job on the AF/LA days!
@I_am_motivated Ethics class - fuunnn Good luck with the class.
@tmbg1 I love the ginger/turmeric combo. I have a recipe for ginger turmeric lemonade that I'm going to make this week.
A few mentions of AF beer the last few days - such a coincidence because I just bought some yesterday, and I haven't had beer for a long time. I just really wanted something AF, and the lousy Food Lion near me doesn't have and AF wine .

@SparkSpringtime69 ...Your "lousy Food Lion " has done you a gigantic favor by denying you AF wine. I'm not a beer drinker by choice, but the AF beer choices far outshine the nasty [IMHO] AF wines. Kim Crawford LA wine seems to be quite drinkable. Good for you on keeping your A days to a minimum. 👍👍
Didn't even have AF beer last night. Forgot, and had tea from my peppermint garden instead.4 -

Rainy Saturday and having vanilla black tea and an ice cream sandwich - does less alcohol make anyone else crave sweets more?4 -

Drank a whole bottle of wine last night. My best friend and her husband came to town, and we imbibed. Unfortunately, I just didn’t stop myself, and I paid for it this morning.10 -

Sunday check in
Out of work early yesterday on a BEAUTIFUL afternoon. 72° I was elated to feel normal getting out before 5:00.
Immediately changed into something lovely and seasonal. HIT THE TOWN appetizers at the first water view eatery (unsweetened iced tea in stemmed glass). Left
2nd stop water view eatery, dinner salad (unsweetened iced tea in stemmed glass).
Left, stopped home to change, started to get chilled.
Next stop...yup I kept going. An upscale night venue, no water view LOL. With a live band. Waiting for band to start sitting at bar. What a GREAT place, have been maybe 6 times since moving down here.
Anyhow drinking my unsweetened iced tea in stemmed glass continued. Then I ordered a bread pudding goodie for hubby and I to share. OMG....warm bread pudding, vanilla gelato, whipped cream and fresh sliced strawberries on a rectangular plate . It was so incredible.
Down side.
Children under 18 on the dance floor. This establishment is clearly for the adults. The venue displays lounge on its advertising. At first I thought they were from the small family. No they were definitely kids, allowed by their parents or encouraged by their parents to be on the dance floor. Cart wheels and bouncing came next during song changes.
Am I just old or does this seem unfair to adult people that have been coming here for decades to slow dance or couple dance, etc? At what point should the manager or owner have stepped in and said your children are welcome to eat their dinner here but will need to remain at their tables and off the dance floor?
I had AF all night.
Who's the adult in the room now you parents with poor parenting skills allowing your kids to remain at an adult venue past 9:00pm
????😡

Is anybody doing a 30 day challenge for April? (besides less alcohol)
I feel the urge to do something. I've got the no alcohol going on already. Thinking of avoiding added sugar/sweets.
Cutting alcohol definitely causes sugar cravings. I so want to quit having those cravings.
Hopefully, I can get a plan in place by the 1st. Dang homework is robbing all my time. At least I make sure I get to the gym regularly.
Have a great rest of the weekend.6 -

Plan to stay away from wine tonight as well. I’m exhausted between the alcohol induced crappy sleep I got on Friday night, cooking for the 50ish youth group kids all day Saturday, and waking up early to finish cooking and deliver the lunch. I just need sleep.
@MissMay I agree with you about the kids at the bar. Just doesn’t seem kosher. Good job on sticking with the unsweet team in a stemmed glass.3
