Collette told me about an AMZing (Amazon) Bin Store in a nearby town. "Liquidation & bin store full of overstock, shelf-pulls and returns. Where every day is Black Friday!" She said every day the prices go down by a few dollars and she's gotten some nice clothing and shampoo there for a fraction of the regular price. I don't need anything, but sounds like a good thing for bargain hunters and will give the local thrift stores some competition. Might be fun to walk through. I bet these stores will be popping up all over if they haven't already.

I did a pantry declutter after Collette left. Lots of carby stuff I generally don't eat anyhow - pasta, rice, huge boxes of oatmeal, sugar. The food bank is always asking for food like this so will be glad to drop it off.

So some work guys came to remove the linoleum. It was a bigger job then they expected. Go figure! If you put a trouble call in May for a stain under your linoleum, and then 9 months later you tackle it, this is what happens. Under the dishwasher was a wet, black mess. They removed the flooring, applied a bleach anti mold mixture to the floor and the space where the dishwasher was. Then they covered the floor in a barrier matting. They have to get with the gal at Century 21 to amend the work to include removing all the lower cabinets because of moisture damage. Then because most cabinets are an all or nothing thing maybe the uppers too. So fridge is in the other room with table, and we will probably be waiting 4+ weeks for the gal at Century 21 to communicate with the owner, and the insurance company. Fun stuff. Not!

I did tell the worker guys that Lee is a liver transplant recipient so having no immune system and having this situation is not great for his overall health. They would definitely put it in their paperwork.

I can't help but smile when I am with Jona.
His name is Jonathan but I have always called him Jona or Jonabug. Never been John or Johnny.
(Jonathan and I are really close, always has been.) Dh had never been around any kids so he was really clueless and helpless for the most part. No helping with feeding or diapers. Would fall asleep when he was supposed to be watching him- one night, I had a Tupperware meeting. Told dh he had to watch Jona for the hour or so I would be gone. I came home, dh is mad and had a big red mark on his forehead and a headache. He had fallen asleep on the floor or something and Jona kicked one of those little wooden blocks- hit him in the forehead- Jona was about 2 yrs old at the time. I told dh , THAT is why he couldn't take a nap while he was supposed to be watching Jona. I didn't leave him alone with dh very often.

We have a Black Friday store here in town now. There is one called Falling Prices in the next town that is basically the same thing. It really is fun to check and see what treasures you can find. We tend to go on Mondays which is the $2 day. We went this past Sunday($4 day) but only bought 2 things. Other weeks, we get a bit crazy and buy way too much. I am looking forward to Christmas this coming year with all the decorations I bought there-like the 11ft blow up arch way. Or the 8ft snowman. The irridecent tree if I can figure out how to put it together. So many things- lots of things for my garden and things for dh to use with his 3D printed Godzillas.

no walking at all today. Really missed it.
Phone company was scheduled to come between 8am and noon. Dh got up early to wait for them. By 9:30, he needed to go to his mom's so I stayed and waited for them(phone had been out for a week). An hour later, the phone rings- they fixed it remotely but never told us they would be doing that. Never did contact to let us know they fixed it. I found out when the phone rang- Solicitors of course. no one else ever calls.
I keep telling dh to just drop the land line- just wasted money. Price continues to go up and service going down. This is the third time in just over a year that the phone did this. One time we were without it for two weeks.

Spring Break so have Ezie all day Thursday and Friday so no walking the dog or walking the wetlands those days.
Will get back on track next week.

Heather, while I'm sad for you that the hip surgeries will wipe out your savings, I'm happy that you will have a solution sooner rather than later. There is a long wait (18 months or so) here for knee or hip replacements. I have heard of folks going to Thailand for that kind of stuff and a friend of mine has been getting dental work done in Mexico for a fraction of what it would cost here. They spend a couple of months there anyway, so might as well get it done. They never had any extended health plans so there was a lot to do!
Debbie, could you not take Ezie out walking with you? She would probably really enjoy the wetlands.
Rebecca, "looked like a big brown brick" made me LOL! Wow, the management company sure wet the bed on that one! What a mess! Sure hope they make up for lost time now. Hopefully Lee won't have any adverse reactions....
Rita, yes, the wine definitely sounds medicinal. Unfortunate that it has to be an alcoholic drink that will help you, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Since you're not an alcoholic, I'm sure you will be able to just have the half glass.

Dream houses: our current house ticks many of the boxes. There is more than one bathroom (3.5 of them!), hubby and I each have a space for our crafts (he calls his tinkering, I have no idea what he actually tinkers with, but....) there is a coat closet by the front door and our main floor is open concept. Our ensuite bath has a double vanity and a walk in shower, cleaning is fairly easy, I rinse out both sinks every morning while waiting for hot water to appear, so they are quick to clean on a weekly basis. The other two full baths get treated as half baths as the tubs are very rarely used, so I only clean as needed. They also only get cleaned on alternate weeks. The powder room on the main floor gets cleaned weekly, but it only takes 5 min to do it. We have lived here for almost 7 years and I think we've both been using the sinks at the same time twice so not really necessary, but a nice touch. I really don't understand the toilet in a room all by itself, I prefer at least a sink in there so handwashing can be completed asap. Although, when I was cleaning house for a living, I saw a toilet that had a small sink on top of the tank, you washed your hands and that water was then used to flush the toilet the next time. I was told that it was quite pricey, but it was set up near the hot tub so that people didn't have to go in the house and the space wasn't big enough for a regular sink.

Rebecca - That is awful! You have my sympathy and commiserations. It's so unsettling to have your home disrupted like that. Plus, as you pointed out, mould is very bad for you. I hope it gets sorted soonest. Is there any way you can influence the speed of it? Squeaky wheel?

I really enjoyed seeing the family yesterday. Bea gave us a rendition of her school performance of 'Party like a Roman'. Wonderful! Then we got her violin exam right through. Horrible, but terrific!

Apparently, at the school performance, she had to sing/say a whole solo verse in Spanish. A South American father came up to my DDIL afterwords and said she had an amazing accent. (It's a bilingual school) She also can do a very convincing Scottish one.

Edie took John up to her room during all this. A younger sister like this is a lot to put up with! Edie has county cross country tomorrow, so she was let off football, as she wasn't feeling great.
We had shop bought gluten free chocolate cake for the birthday celebration , which wasn't bad at all. My son had made a Basque Burnt Cheesecake for his wife on Sunday. I will post pictures from my phone. Looks incredible!

I was hopeful that my new, stronger, painkillers would work last night, but I didn't notice much difference. Boo! I still had to migrate beds, and rub in gel, and toss and turn and curse and ...... Oh well, at least the end is in sight! I feel bad about putting my son's holiday at the end of May in jeopardy, as it's a much dreamed off cycling tour over the high Pyrenees, but they are looking at alternative babysitters, and we still may be able to do it. Once I get a date we can make more plans. He even said he would come back early, once he had done the highest peak.

I don't want that!

French Circle tonight. A talk on Vietnam. I want to go, but it'll have to be a taxi both ways, so expensive, as it's peak rush hour. I may have to email them with my excuses.

Gratitude for the past week: Oral surgery (to extract a tooth “stub” with a root that curved/hooked) went well, was unconscious before they put anything, even their fingers, in my mouth. Some swelling, discomfort and bruising but mitigated by rX. Finally feeling a little more like myself, danced an hour yesterday and walked with Joe and the dogs across the lane.
Carol sorry to read of your BIL’s death. Extra hugs to you and your DH, for making that hard but compassionate decision. Hardest on those who did the most caregiving so extra ((hugs)).
Only through pg 52 but fingers X’d for Lanette and the house near her friend. Even has a chicken coop? Must be a sign.

Heather - Pain goes so far beyond just the simple fact of where it hurts to stir your life into spirals of such things as sleeplessness. It's why I fought so hard and so long with the VA to get the relatively mild set of painkillers I'm allowed through them. That said, they don't always work, and I was wide awake at 3 a.m. this morning. For the first time in a while, I might add. Funny to go on here and read about your bout of sleeplessness as well!

Barbara - It is so good to see you pop up. Hard to respond much when your mouth is hurting. Glad you're back with us.

Debating whether to try to go back to bed once Cor's up. One reason I got up was to stop tossing and turning so he could sleep through to his usual 4:45--he had a bad night's sleep the night before, very unusual, and was already falling asleep in his chair last night by 8 p.m. Apparently, it's an epidemic! It's possible mine is the indulgence of the Pains au Chocolat from Aldi's yesterday. I snacked on them all day... adding hundreds of extra, totally unneeded calories to a day that wasn't low-calorie to begin with.

Off to get a little reading done and work on the clock I started the other day. Acupuncture this afternoon, and 28 flipping degrees outside this morning, so no brickwork still... maybe tomorrow. Hate leaving a job unfinished. I'm trying to convince myself it's good for me to be forced into a job that I can't finish in a single day. Either I'm not terribly convincing, or I'm not terribly convincible. 🤷🏻‍♀️😀👀🙃

My only sane and sensible moment was yoga yesterday, but it burned maybe a tenth of those calories.

It's a good thing I'm not perfect, huh? I'd be totally annoying. 😳

Rebecca-did they test fir what sort of mold present? That may be useful information for you. It looks nasty-can't believe they let it go so long.

Debbie-I was fortunate, my husband was pretty good with boys-he got even better when they hit around 2. and weren't as dependent upon me for meals (I breastfed youngest until 3 but mainly evenings the last year of so). I was looking at Amazon Bin stores last night. With the pricing, does that mean one thing is $10 on $10 day and so on?

Evelyn-I have never heard of such a sink but it is really a smart idea.

Barbara AHMOD-glad you have resurfaced and surgery went well. It can take a bit to bounce back from procedures.

Heather-I found that narcotics didn't really work with my hips when they were declining so I ended up not taking them. Heating pads can give a bit of relief at times. Bone on bone is just painful. Glad you spent time with family-a bit of a distraction.

I had one of my spells with off and on sleep last night and some night sweats. May open window a bit at night until time for air conditioning. Don't know why I get them some times-I am forever past menopause!

Good morning ladies!

I feel like I belong in the club because I too was up at three for a little bit. I read on my phone and went back to sleep.

My legs are tired from outdoor walking yesterday. It was hilly.

I listened to a Buddhist podcast yesterday and oddly enough, that helped with my diet attitude. It is calming, and it emphasizes the pause between a thought and an action.

Meanwhile, I got my next book! The Beck Diet Solution by Judith Beck. I'm pretty sure I read it before, so I don't expect great new revelations, just more encouragement.

Rebecca that mold looks dangerous! We had a bathroom wall that was full of black mold when they took the tile down. Sorry you will be out of the kitchen for awhile. Do you have an air filter?
