Saturday's Highlights
- sleep. This past week has exhausted me.
- gorgeous sunset at new house
- Giro d'Italia on TV
Had to dig out my good camera to try to get a non-blurry photo of the peacock. I think there are at least two that aren't blurry here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/machka-bb/ I don't know why this one is so difficult to get a good photo.

My biggest issue right now with the move is DH wants to move back to his preferred site after. As of now, we have not moved and the RV has ‘junk! (Save just in case stuff)” all over the place giving us only 1 place to sit other than the bed. This mess is due to DH moving all the ‘stuff’ he had saved on top of the driver’s area, into the kitchen area so he can ‘drive’ the RV which still has not been started in over 6 years! Stress on me waiting for his blow up and the mess just makes me depressed and anxious. Can’t wait until this weekend is over and he decides what he is going to finally do. The construction foreman told us we don’t have to move. The so-called ranger wants us to move. He was trying to assert his non-existent authority. No one respects him, but he is supposed to be in charge. I hate the ‘wait and see’ of this!
And to top things off, our power cleaner ‘died’ last night and cut our power out adding to the stress last night. I didn’t sleep well, had nightmares all night. I know it’s the stress and anxiety. I just can’t let it turn into a panic attack. I am prone to those.
I know this is not anywhere like losing someone close or major life changes, but for me, sure feels like it!! Sorry y’all, I do think about all of you every day. I do read all the posts even though I don’t reply to all.
On a good note, I have started a new mystery on my own that takes place in space (of course! LOL). I enjoy writing these and haven’t decided if I want to post it here like I did the last one. I could but……. Not sure. I currently have 8 characters but could add more if needed. Still brewing in my mind. It is my mind escape!

Evelyn So sorry about family losses.
Allie Add my voice of support as Tracey and family (including you) go through a very difficult time
Barbara As we get older we often times have less stomach acid than more. For some reason this causes the valve on our stomach to not close properly hence GERD. Unfortunately excess weight in mid area does not help. Also shallow breathing and losing tone in the diaphragm. I did the apple cider vinegar when I had a mild case about a month ago. Before eating a meal you start with a tsp in about two ounces of water and use a straw or drink it down quickly because it is high in acid and hard on your teeth. I did sip a small amount of aloe juice after drinking this to counter act the acid on my teeth. It used an organic version with the mother because it also gave me another fermented food. Now I drink water with lemon juice (still do aloe after). I have lost some weight around the middle and I am working on nose breathing at night and have not had a problem with GERD since. Mine was also caused by a stressful situation. (Trying to take a friend with dementia to lunch through a half hour of driving through very difficult traffic). I could not talk for two days after that because of GERD. I sing so that is what motivated me. It can over time affect your vocal cords.
I am now on what I consider the fourth wave...There a number of projects needing to be done because we were unable to get to them with everything else going on for the past ten years. Roofs, windows on our home, hot water heater, new lawn mower (I will go with a corded electric again). I am working on these as I go to art group once a week, choir, and volunteering. The up side is the estate it basically finished, gardening is going well, new diet is helping now 166.5, and better breathing is helping to keep me healthy. I am saying NO to other volunteer activities. Once choir finishes up and school volunteering is done for the year I will have more time for these needs (Bringing food and or those in need out to lunch)6 -
Rita - It would drive me crazy too. Could you go away for a short break? Or a very long one? Big hugs.
The navy drawstring trousers I ordered from M&S arrived this afternoon. They look great! I ordered the short leg, which I have never done before, and I'm so glad I did. They are a linen/viscose blend. I have terrible trouble with waist sizes, but these are perfect. I'm not brave enough to order jeans online, but this baggy beach style are adjustable.
I also smoke bombed the front bedroom, where I found a few carpet moths last week. I will do the upstairs bedroom and bathroom tomorrow. I have a constant fight with the things, but they are much, much, fewer than last year.
Plus, I changed over the fake flowers to reflect early summer. (Gorgeous day today) Took away the pink tulips and mixed spring jug, and put a rose posy on the mantlepiece, and a pretty garden summer spray on the dining table. I like to keep the flowers seasonal. The irises are still out, but will be retired soon.
I'm still looking for more summer flowers as I like a display in front of the fireplace. I've seen some gorgeous old roses on Amazon, but haven't pressed the button.
Monday is our 21 years 'meeting anniversary '. I've got a few presents for John to open, including a bigger thermos for his cricket coffee, because he was saying that his old one is too small. This one is one pint. I also bought a box of biscuits (cookies) that are wrapped in twos, like you get in hotels, that he can take with him for his morning snack. A mini umbrella, that fits in a pocket, and some Guylian seashells, that he loves. Some gorgeous new spotted wrapping paper arrived today, so I shall be wrapping tomorrow.
I've painted him a card.
I gave G a card on Friday, that I had previously painted, to celebrate 40 years since she was sectioned to the mental hospital after several spectacular suicide attempts. She considers it the beginning of a new life, that changed everything. She met a wonderful psychiatrist, who 'saved' her. I have found these small gestures of friendship both cheer me up, and the recipient. The text to my niece was the same. Made my day! If you are feeling low, doing something nice for someone, is the best way to feel better. Why not do it today!
We had smoked salmon sandwiches on rye for lunch, and tonight is cod with a pesto crust, and pea purée. Two fishy days in a row!

Hello, my dearlings,
Just a quick run-by. I've sent my friend, her husband and mine off to the train station. They're going on a three-hour trip, winding up into the Ozarks and back. My gut is just in its usual uproar... which was fully expected. I didn't plan to go anyway. Between my gut and the motion sickness from the train's movement, I would have been miserable, and Corey would have felt he had to make sure I was OK. I want them all to enjoy it--and don't envy them that trip at all. The pictures were before they left and before they boarded the train. There's a reason for that. I've been able to catch up with y'all, and now I'm going to go take a long, hot, luxurious shower in the silences of my home. They'll all be back in a bit soon, and I'm enjoying this at enormous levels. Having coffee with my friend, out in the yard, watching the sun come up over the trees this morning was pure bliss. Making cookies for everyone else (I didn't want one) was wonderful last night, no baker could ever resist a compliment. I will miss them terribly when they go. And I will love getting my lovely silences and peace back, too. I'm truly grateful for my life, both now, and to come.
Later, y'all,
Love,

Beth-thanks for clarification on hearing aids in Ohio- thought I was hallucinating! I know I have seen ads on tv here in Ohio. No idea about quality!
Machka-road and stairs to no where not overly uncommon. Frequently areas under development by a company or government development takes certain amenities to a distance and then it is further modified when a new business is ready to move in on the property. Sometimes the buyer (to lessee) does not show up as quickly as economic development hopes!
Going to have dinner with son and family, stay overnight to learn baby's night time routine. Looking forward to it-need to get some stuff done before leaving.
Take care all,

Hello to the new ladies that have arrived in our group for May! It might seem like we chat about everything else but fitness or food, but you have to understand we have been chatting some of us 5+ years or more. We are family, a fitness family.😁. But unlike most families we always let new relatives in. Lol! Just know we don't discuss religion or politics. This is a judge free zone but if you need a quick kick in the keester, our faithful Pip is your go to member for that.😁.
Quick intro for me, 61 married 40, 3 sons (2 active Navy, 1 veteran). I am still obese but I consider myself reasonably healthy. I eat mostly clean, not a lot of boxes or cans in my pantry. I try to eat two meals a day, and a snack or two. I do not eat diet food. I eat what I like and have relit my passion for food, the good foods. Its nice to have urges now, and I pay attention more to how I feel from day to day.
I love these ladies, I can say that unabashed.💖

I have a chicken question for Debbie:Does your mom let her hens free range or are they kept in a run, at least at night? And if they are kept in a run, does she close the coop door? With the longer days, my girls don't go in the coop until after 8:30 this week and are up before 5. In another couple months, it won't get dark until after 10 and the morning sun will start lighting up the sky at 3:30 or so. There's not a way to put an automatic coop door closer on my cheap little coop. The run is completely enclosed chain link, including tight fencing over the top. I can't think of any predator big enough to do them harm if I don't close that coop door at night, they are safe from raccoons and opossums. I figure I have another couple weeks to think about it.
Rain is back.

mom locks the chickens up every night. They are let out in the mornings. She actually has an alarm set on her phone to remind her to lock them up at night. She is having to go out later because of the time change. She uses a hose to chase them inside if they are not in when she goes out.
Her chickens are fenced in at all times (and it is covered too) because she has had critters come in the middle of the day and grab chickens before she had it covered and when she let them out in the pasture.
If any chicken doesn't go inside for the night, there is a very high likelyhood they will not survive the night.
Debbie - thank you for that info, it helps. What are the main predators at your mom's place - possums? raccoons? weasels?
When we lived on the farm, one night we forgot to shut the coop door - the coop was set in a large pasture. That night, something sneaked in and killed nearly all of the hens, we figured it was a raccoon(s) Took the hens out into the pasture and ate the breast meat, left the rest of the carcass. Sneaky varmints!
I haven't seen any around here but that doesn't mean they aren't watching.
Lanette
She has bobcats, foxes, coyote, raccoons, skunks
She has possums but they eat bugs, not chickens.
No weasels that I know of. Does have rats.
One time they forgot to lock up and a bobcat came in and just killed more than half the flock- didn't eat them, just killed them.

Evelyn: My sympathy to you on your losses. I must say that is quite a bit of loss in 8 days.
Debbie: I hope you enjoyed your Saturday! I know you were looking forward to it!
Rusty: I still haven't found the right combination of foods! Still experimenting!
Angela: Welcome
RVRita: I would be stressed in your situation as well. I think it is great you have stayed calm so far and have been able to read!
Heather: Great that your school friends are coming in June!
Lisa: Hope your guests are having a good time! Wow! Having a brother-in-law coming to live with you. That is huge. I hope he is able to find work.
Michele: What is the 5 foot rule?
Machka: Have you read Cutting For Stone...I don't think it is a mystery. I started it but have not gotten back to it. I thought the writing style was good.
Not much happening here! I am still waiting for my garden to be tilled and for the plants to arrive!I have lost 9 pounds.
I am cutting back to 1 day a week working with the cats!
Best,

Thank you.
It was so quiet. I didn't have the tv on or the speakers on on my computer so total silence all day. I got some things done-computer work, cleaned up some of the 3D printed things for the show next weekend.
Didn't get to work in the garden. I COULD go out there now as it is still daylight and the rain stopped but I won't. It is too cold and I just don't feel like it.
Dh is on his way home already. Should be home soon. Son just left with his girlfriend.
Maybe tomorrow I will work in the garden.

That area has been under development for the past decade. Someone has an idea so they put in one or two things, then that idea falls apart and stuff is left or torn out. They put in a really nice bicycle path a few years ago, then tore it out a year later. Now there's a new idea but no one can agree on it. Meanwhile it's a large area of things to nowhere and bits and pieces.
However, I am especially fond of the stairs to nowhere because I can climb up and down them. I've seen other exercisers do the same thing.

I hadn't used it yet but put the battery in it and am anxious to give it a try. Yesterday when I was mowing in back, another neighbor dog went for me and barked and lunged at the fence. Those neighbors - the man of the house is deaf and has the TV up so loud, his wife can't hear anything that goes on outside it seems.
Think I'll get the weed eater going by the back fence....maybe I can test the new gizmo today. [/spoiler]

What is it called so I can look it up on Amazon?1 -
Worked then went to Big Lots for some of these protein bars. A lot of the ones they had yesterday were gone, but I did get a few. Then had to go to WalMart since Vince needed milk for tomorrow. Did a bit of other shopping, got the boxes for PJ’s birthday gifts (it’s today). Church tonight. Made cod for later in the week and the freezer
Lanette my neighbor was telling me that you can rent a stump remover from Home Depot
Angela – welcome. This is absolutely the place for you!
Barbie – nice safe. We have a gun safe about 6 feet tall
Since I don’t work tomorrow, the plan is to do a Cardio and Strength Circuit Workout DVD. We shall see how this one is
Rosemarie – the five foot rule is “if it looks good from 5 feet away...it’s good enough” Congrats on the loss
Checking out some ceramics places.
