I’m transitioning over to Lose It! Feel free to look me up and add me there. Michael, same profile pic. RIP MFP2

I repeat, not that it will do any good. I believe a decision was made and it won't be rescinded no matter how many beg for it to be reconsidered. I can only hope that the loss of members will show what a poor decision this was and that maybe next time members will be listened to.
Well congratulations on giving mfp that final death stroke for many of us.
Nearly 10 years of logging on everyday to support and cheer on mfp family. Many will be leaving in droves as will I. Mfp will offer nothing better than any one of a number of fitness sites. What made mfp stand out and better was the social aspect.. my friends being able to interact and cheer me on.
I just can't believe some corporate bozo behind a desk who likely doesn't even use mfp has decided its a way to save money.. ahhh no.. when people leave, you lose money.
As for it being a little used feature that's just rubbish and only being said as a way to justify gutting it from mfp.
Im so disappointed, it will hurt greatly to lose mfp family 🥺
I give it a couple years at best and what is left of mfp will be extinguished.
I hope staff are looking for new jobs.. you're gunna need it when mfp breathes its last dying breath.

It’s unbelievable that they are republishing old reviews and passing them off as new glowing reviews of their app.4

So sad to see the newsfeed is going away It's so user friendly and helped to connect us all. I checked the 'group' tab and I've been in 2 groups for years and I'm just NOT active there (let's be honest, I get lost in the 16,000 members and NO ONE notices my absence there). Those large groups just aren't the same as a small group of friends you can follow, encourage and cheer on along the way.3

MFP has been an important place in my life, sad to see it falling apart. 😔
Same here. 11 years of people following my progress and maintenance steps and vice versa. Lost my newsfeed this morning and with it went my only social media app. Bye friends 😞7 -
Newsfeed gone as of last night for me. RIP friends!5

I was just checking on the iPhone App Store out of curiosity and pretty much the only recent reviews there now are 5 stars and not one mentions the newsfeed, only the barcode scanner moving to Premium.
Interesting.
So interesting.. I went back and scrolled through after I read your post @COGypsy and on Tuesday.. many people edited former 9 month- 1year old reviews.. so they look like recent.
Notice the dates of the developer responses from last June, July, September and beyond when the reviews originated. There are dozens of these.
What a coincidence that Tuesday is when people started posting on the forum to leave critical feedback for MFP on app stores.

Seriously if MFP put this much effort into fixing the glitches of MFP I don't think we'd be talking about the newsfeed going
So sad that Mfp is stooping so low
Please pass this on the the BIG GUYS since they refuse to share their contact information4 -
LOSE IT is a great replacement for MFP. A lot of people have already started accounts. It is free or 15 dollars a month. It has a news feed..6

1) you have to sign in separately from MFP and I'm not sure if it remembers your preferences or settings.
2) it isn't connected to our announcements (logging streak, weight loss, exercises) for passive feedback (and shouldn't be because it is in a completely different section).
3) it's less personal and cultivated and prone to heated discussions and spam.
4) private groups requires moderating unlike our Newsfeed and many users don't have time for that role or responsibility so it will decline in activity and interest.
5) your Profile information is not completely private when it switches to the Community section and is the new Home Page (replacing the News Feed in the MFP section). The information that you enter about yourself and your photos are public and the only section that is private is the Activity Feed. Members might not want their photos and information made public.
6) you cannot edit or delete your posts after an hour. On the Newsfeed, you can edit a post by deleting it and posting a corrected version (crappy workaround but better than nothing and there is no time limit on that).
Sad that members are being fragmented and scattered due to the cold corporate decision to force the "community" section on them mistaking "community" for what they have been enjoying with the News Feed.
The personalized and private Newsfeed was one of the few things that was working right after other desirable features has been slowly chipped away. The following motto does not apply to MFP: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
@Betty
Perfectly said 👏
Please forward on Betty....if anyone is actually listening3 -
Please save our newsfeed…my fitness pals have helped me so much, it’s harder to navigate in the community section…we use the newsfeed to encourage, motivate, support and inspire one another, it’s like we’re losing a great group of friends! It makes no sense to get rid of it, when it goes, I will be leaving MFP
Save the newsfeed!!!5 -

I'd like to add that notifications regarding private groups get lost in the flood of notifications from threads, (especially if you have responded to one of those threads that generates thousands of notifications), and unless you want ALL notifications sent to your phone (if that's even possible), you're not notified of an interaction until you log into the community to check.5 -
👋 Hi, just chiming in again to say I'm continuing to read and pass along your feedback.
In regards to the forums, I'll work on collecting feedback and see what is possible with our forum providers to make improvements here. I can't make any promises, but always happy to research what can and can't be done here.6 -
As much as I look forward to checking MFP during the day to check my progress, I looked forward to seeing my friends’ progress, too. To say I was gutted when I realized this removal of the feed was intentional and not a glitch is an understatement. I guess I’ll be moving elsewhere and taking my friends with me — because I know we all enjoyed cheering each other on from inside the app, right there in an easy-to-access tab. Shame on you, MFP.6

Newsfeed gone, yet - for those that still have it because their app is updated yet, I still see the notifications of their likes on my statuses that are still being auto posted to the now ghosted-newsfeed.
It's like a slap in the face.6 -
I'm really sad about how the optimism in this thread seems to be dwindling since I last checked it, and understandably so.
I've been using MFP almost every single day since March 2016. Even on the days where I didn't log food (which is pretty rare), I still checked out what other people were up to on my newsfeed. I might have come for the database, but I stayed for the community. When life gets busy and I haven't had time to keep up with my newsfeed, I miss it. I have made many good friends from my interactions there.
And no, I'm not a paying member, but I still see adverts and the more 'free members' that leave as a result of the retirement of the news feed, the fewer people there'll be to show ads to. Incidentally, I probably would have upgraded my membership to premium years ago if the app wasn't so glitchy. If you want to make more money, MFP, fix the glitches and keep the newsfeed!
I'm going to be checking out alternative apps. I'm currently exploring Fooducate, which has a community element/news feed to it. Anyone else tried that?6 -
I recently returned to MFP because of two reasons. It seems to have the most comprehensive database of foods for logging and the newsfeed feature helps me to feel motivated by cheering on friends and vice versa. Realizing that I came back just in time for the newsfeed to be removed feels pretty damn bad. The forums definitely feel way more public and don't offer the same personal touch. If anyone knows of an app with a similar breadth of pre-logged items, I'm all ears.
My newsfeed has already gone dead which is super demotivating. Kind of takes away, the purpose in making new fitness friends here..5 -

I moved over to Lose It! It’s taken a week to adjust but it’s going well. The newsfeed functions a little differently but it’s there and with a little time, I think I will like it.
