Grandma still has the touch...Tracy says she doesn't understand how I can get him to nap I don't know either.
But im glad he is resting anyway.
He is such a cute rambunctious little guy.
The ER visit was basically a waste was stuck there until almost 11 pm and they told me to just take flonase.6 -
Not sure if I ever posted the link to the plan I’m following so here it is: https://hope8020.com/diabetes-prevention-program-free

A few years before I retired from teaching, I was reading still another professional journal filled with accounts of brilliant teaching practices that didn't inspire me as much as they made me feel inadequate until I read a tiny article written by a woman who said that her energy and enthusiasm for her work were so much improved since she started walking for an hour after work. That sounded like something I could do. I went home from work that day, changed my shoes and put my cell phone and my Walkman in my pockets and walked out of the house. I have been doing some variation of that ever since. Over the years, I've retired and moved and added dogs to the walks. Technology has changed and now phone and Walkman exist in the same device but the walking remains. I walk more in the mornings now and walk longer but the basic plan has continued. My energy and enthusiasm for life grow all the time.
When I read that walking with an accountability partner was a good idea, I tried that and found that every walking partner I acquired let me down by being late or not showing up so I decided to go by myself. I walk with friends sometimes now, but they are more likely to cancel than I am.
Jake is meeting a friend for lunch today and I have the house and dogs to myself. He so rarely meets with a friend and I am very happy for him both because he'll see his friend (they talk on the phone weekly but haven't met in person in ages) and because he'll get to go to a restaurant and I won't have to go with him.
CJ, Glad you are back. I don't post often but I read this thread once or twice a day.
Summer is coming. It may get to 71 degrees here today.

Well .......... Best laid plans.
During the Zoom with my schoolfriends I mentioned John's bad cold. P and B are both doctors. P is going, in the Saturday following our meet up, for a double cataract operation. She was very worried it might be covid. I poopooed the idea, but she asked me to test John anyway, as she didn't want anything to stop the op. G is also immune compromised.
So I asked him to test. He was very reluctant, but went with it.
Guess what. Yes. Positive.
So, I won't be able to meet up with them, after they've come all this way to see me. They are still going to get together, and I may, if I am well enough, meet them on the beach, in a mask,to wave at them from a distance. I must say, I am beginning to feel a bit 'off'. We have told the family. Edie was here on Saturday, the day before he had symptoms.
He has hardly been anywhere, apart from local shops, so he has no idea where he caught it. Good call, P.
I will have to postpone my DEXA scan.Big boo.
Luckily, next week is clear for me to get over it. Shame, mega shame about the girls meetup. B is flying down from Scotland.
Oh well, life happens. I just hope I get it mildly. John has had 8 jabs, and I have had 5, because I'm not quite 75.

The first thing I did, after telling the family, was to do a Waitrose order for tomorrow. John normally does a fresh fruit, vegetable, and salad shop on Thursdays, but this will save him from that.
We will get the guy to leave the stuff at the door.

Heather hope you and DH feel better soon. This Omicron variant is more like a cold. I wonder if I've got it, although Dad tested negative at the beginning.
My eating is on track so far today! Yay! Except for the cough drops which I didn't count.

Ah dang, Heather - I'm so sorry! I know you were really looking forward to seeing your friends, too, and for one to fly all the way there... well, at least they'll have each other. And bless John's heart, I know he didn't need it, and certainly doesn't want to give it to you or to anyone else.
CJ - So good to see you, dear heart! Take a breath, relax, share what you like, but don't feel you have to, and no, I stalled out on writing the sequel. I would say when I got sick, but it was long before that. Just died on the vine. My creativity has taken other turns.
I've been a complete and utter slug today... and my gut has been in an uproar all day. Not unconnected, but not sure which direction. It's possible being a slug upset the gut, or being upset provoked me into acting like a slug. Either way, it happens. It will pass.
Later,
Love,

CJ - So lovely to see you. Yes, as Lisa says, just settle in slowly.

Heather: So Sorry about the Covid...I hope you and John both test negative soon. I would order the Johnno because I like sauteed mushrooms.
Lisa: Does the UV tint stay on the windows all year?
Vickie: I hope you don't wear yourself out working.
Allie: Good of you to be watching Miles! 15 vials of blood is a lot of vials!
Tracey: Sorry the job isn't going to work out. I am sure something else will. In the United States there is pretty decent money to work with autistic children. My DIL did this for awhile. And becoming a Medical Assistant to a doctor is quite popular...not an aide...an assistant...the job is more administrative...going over patient histories and maybe doing an EKG.
People with degrees are doing both these jobs now.
Kylia: A vet who delivers medicine! That's terrific!
Annie: I am sure you will lose the weight! Last year was quite a year, helping your Mom and your Dad needing more help. It was only natural that you would likely gain weight. By the end of caring for my husband I was drinking a couple of coca colas a day. And when he was first diagnosed I ate nothing but small Nestles Crunch Bars out of a bag for about 5 days.
Rebecca: Hope your husband is feeling better!
Barbie: I was a fairly regular walker for 15 years. This summer not so much. One has to get up early here to walk in June. I am drawn to my back yard right now. I don't know how long I can keep the house and want to enjoy my yard.
Doing some cleaning today and reading. Watching the weather channel! And my mother says the heat index in Boston is 110 degrees! I did go out to Starbucks. I usually go to McDonalds as it is significantly less expensive. but today I was craving a Birthday cake pop from Starbucks!
Best,

Back in December, my first test was negative but I tried again the next day and it was positive. Apparently it can take a day or two to register.2 -

Rosemarie - In all honesty, I don't know. I'm getting used to the tint on the windows, although at first, I kept getting surprised, looking out those windows and thinking it was getting dark outside. Much will depend on my willingness to take it down and whether it can be put back up once down. In theory, it is reusable. Is there some reason you might lose the house? Or is it a positive possible move?
Today was just a write-off, but hopefully tomorrow I'll have more energy. I've got labs coming up on Monday for both my iron levels and thyroid levels, and if those are OK, then this constant fatigue may be from the Skyrizi. Either way, I'll know more once those labs are in.
Skipping dinner - I've been munching all day, which I know is a reaction to the fatigue--my body seems to think if I eat, I'll get more energy. I know better.
Later, y'all,
Love,
Lisa in AR

Worked then we cut the grass (aka weeds). Afterwards, went to see about the orthotic. I’ll get it in 2 weeks to the tune of $450 which Medicare won’t pay. Then went to Hamricks to see about shorts, but they didn’t have anything nice. So I decided to go to Conns which is right next door only they didn’t have anything nice, either. But I did get a bowl for Ganon for $5. I couldn’t make it in ceramics for that price.
Love the kitten photos
Kim – good thoughts being sent for your friends
Flea – I thought NJ was the only state where you couldn’t pump your own gas!
Kylia – so glad Cali is better and gaining weight
Debbie – I don’t think I’d ever do zumba, but if they had Aqua Zumba I would probably give that a try. The door is pegboard and about 4” high. Seriously, I can’t reach the latch to unlatch it to get out without a stepstool. Even then it’s a stretch
Wednesday here, I think I forgot to post last night. Anywho…..
Did HIIT and then water class. Afterwards went to Burlington to see if they had any shorts, nothing decent. So decided to go to TJ Maxx since they are right there. Found one pair that I’m not sure I like. I was surprised that TJ Maxx isn’t less expensive. Well, part of the problem is that I’m used to buying at thrift stores.
Then went in the pool. After dinner, I think we’re going to go to Lowe’s Hardware and then WalMart. Vince needs to get some things. I’ll probably do some shopping at WM Update: I only went to WM. I want to make gazpacho so I got most of the things I need and then some others.
I’m getting that “see if you are human” message when I log in, too
Annie – I have these eye drops and each time I have to have Vince open them. The only time he didn’t have to was when I got them in FL. Evidently the CVS down there has a different supplier.
Kylia – when I went for my sleep study, they tried to put a CPAP on me that had the thing in that covers your nose. I had a bad experience as a child with having a mask on my face, and even now I couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t open my eyes. FINALLY they gave me one with the tube on the top of my head and just a nose thing. That I could do. Seems I have mild sleep apnea. I have a Resvent cpap, with the tube on the top of my head and just a nose thing (like the oxygen thing in the nose). That I can handle.
Heather – yea for the walk! You go girl! So very sorry for Johnny (and you) Bummer
I’ve decided that unless I’m going to FL or the dollar store, I’ll go walking after dinner. Another good thing is that this way I won’t be munching (so much) after dinner.

Debbie - if I was in charge of the world I'd lock your mom's roommate in with MIL for a few days and see who survives. Let them go a few rounds! Who knows, it might be a good~! Regarding you pulling up stakes and moving in with your mom, could your DH be trusted to take care of the cats or is that mainly your job? I'm not sure about getting another cat but those little Siamese mixes you are taking care of sure are cute. Glad you don't live close.

Mom's room mate and MIL are so similar - both are bullies, opinionated and Japanese!
I would love to put them in the same house for a while.
If you really wanted, I might just be up for a road trip to drop off the kittens
I understand- they are cute but I am ready for the living room to be back the way it was- it is full of the huge play pen and their other toys. Can't even get to the back door so I have to go all the way around the house to go to the garden. I could get out of the back door but it is easier to just walk all the way around.
He could do all the cat care(he does it, for the most part, when I am at mom's but very hard on him, especially with the 4 kittens) but I am the one that does most of the feeding, etc

Heather - I think inviting your friends to your home with pizza is a wonderful idea. I find myself more relaxed when visiting in a home compared to a restaurant.
It must have felt wonderful going on the walk.
Oh how upsetting that you can’t visit with your girls.
Hope John feels better soon. I don’t even know where we can test anymore for Covid.
I’m with Machka, it sounds delicious but I would want to create my own.
Annie - I hope your Dad was content today.
I’m with you on the flab. I really need to do something.
Kylia - what great news on the kittens.
Barbie - I think I’m ready to continue walking after my practicum is done this week. I do need to find some shoes that are comfortable but I’m wanting to get back to walking again, I felt so much better in every way when I was walking.
A long day on my feet, we took grades 4-5-6 to a park this afternoon. A little trouble with one student on the way back, hopefully it’s better tomorrow.
I went out for supper with 4 of the ladies I worked with at the manor. I so enjoy these gals and am happy we are able to continue meeting.
I’m off to bed even though it’s only 930. I did a lot of walking today.

Popping in again for a few.
Very belated welcome @Babytessie01 ! Please let us know what you’d like to be called and your general locale.
Kim thank you for www.fire.ca.gov. Prayers and thoughts for Debbie’s Mom, your friends, and all affected both residents and responders.
Allie what did the ER say about your fainting and nausea?
Through pg 30, time to snooze.
Later, lighter, lovelies!

peg board, the kind with holes? They will use those little holes for spots to grab their nails in and be over that soon. I thought the new scrathing post was going to be too big for them but they climb and sit on the top of it with ease then jump off. They are about 10 weeks old(we have had them in the house just a few days past a month). This is the one I got at Black Friday for $2.

First one is going to his new home tomorrow we think. Was hoping she would take two but told dh just one- she has not seen any of them yet, just pictures. They do so much better with two.

Kittens just got put back in their playpen for the night-already sleeping.
No zumba because of the holiday so friends from class were supposed to meet me at the wetlands to walk. All three canceled on me so I didn't go. I stayed home and painted the new mahogany in the hall. Two coats of it then dh put the trim up. So much nicer than the old pressed paper paneling that was up there.
Have Ezie tomorrow and Friday- will figure out a few projects to keep her busy- have one that she started last week but didn't finish plus she will help watering the garden
