Tracie in WI it's great to see you back. I remember you fondly from before.
Rosemarie, I just remembered that you said that you'd bought headphones for listening to audio books and a belt for carrying your phone. Enjoy your listening.

Barbie, sending healing thoughts for Jake.
Beth, my prayers are with you and your mother as you navigate this journey. July was not a good month for me either. I’m tired of playing with the same 2 or 3 lbs.
Kim, I would be beyond frustrated in your shoes. I am so sorry.
Check out this school newsletter. 100,000+ students, and my granddaughter makes the newsletter. She is on the far right, looking lost on her first day of middle school.

Barbie--How scary. Sending hugs and prayers.
Machka--Glad you are doing ok. Was getting concerned.
Well I am working the night shift. Only 9 more hours to go. I have 2 new people starting Aug 19th. This should be the only night shift I have, just lots of days to cover. DH wants to take sometime off in Oct so going to do all I can to make that happen.
Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE7 -
My little guy is getting so big...he changes every time i see him, they went to the zoo today and then home..its to hot and muggy to be out for to long..
Barbie..keeping Jake and you in my prayers ..Im sure the pups are wondering where dad is..tell Jake he has us all in his pocket 🙂9 -
Lisa - those sleepless nights sure are a pain.
Kaitlyn has a meme she posts once in a while that promotes “all sleep matters”, that’s what you’re doing.
Rodger has terrible sleep patterns these days.
Heather - is it possible for Edie to come visit with you for the day, it might ease John’s mind if someone else was with you.
Is your SIL still coming to make lasagna for you?
What a cute belt.
I wish that Canada would start adopting gardens like yours.
Carol - I haven’t tried Amazon for clothes. Maybe I’ll look. Here I have to be careful with what is considered import. We have bought things that could not be returned without losing a lot in fees to send it back.
I am thinking I need some new clothes for the Fall and Winter. I’m waiting to see what style the people are wearing at my new job. (I haven’t heard anything, but figure if I act like it’s mine it might come true. I’m going to be so heartbroken if it doesn’t though.)
Kylia - I don’t know how I would fare with DH taking care of me either. One thing I did learn when my hip was so bad was to just ask not wait for him to anticipate what I might need.
I can’t wait to hear all about your trip! What is your DH doing during that time?
Barbie - I hope Jake gets transferred and gets fixed soon. How stressful.
Lanette - I realized today that I went looking for a post about dandelions I read the other day to share with you. I ended up getting distracted. I’ll have to look today.
Margaret - you have done so much research to make yourself healthier.
Rita - it makes for a long day when you have to work and your sleep has been disrupted. I hope you get some sleep tonight.
I am in line at the bottle depot and have managed to read and catch up with you all.
Tracie - nice to see you here! I need to get back to the JFT.
Katie - love the picture of your granddaughter.
I had a lovely day. I went to a demo day at our local scrapbooking store. They do this every 3 months or so. They have 5 or 6 people that teach different techniques using different products. You can choose which ones you want to learn. The cost of $2-$3 per demo.
I made 4 cards and one that I’m going to turn into a little magnet. One card I’m sending to my Mom as a little hi. Another I’ll send to my friend, on the front is simply says hugs. She is struggling terribly with bed bugs in her building so I’m going to write on the inside “hugs for you and your bugs”. She’ll enjoy the humour of it.
I did this with a lady that is becoming a good friend, I met her through ceramics. Our financial situations are vastly different, but she is not one that wants to go shopping and do things to spend money all the time.
My eldest daughter and my traded vehicles today for the week so I got a few minutes visit in with her and the Grands. Jonah is up to my cheekbone! Michaela no longer requires a booster seat. It’s only been a few weeks since I’ve seen them.
I have a mouse in my house! I need to go buy some poison or something tomorrow. We’ve had a good 2 year run without any here. I think it’s one thing I really dislike about this place.

Barbie: Just checking in. Wondering if Jake has been transferred yet. Thinking of you!
Still in Asheville. I slept deeply for 2 hours and it is only midnight! My son told me he and his wife purchased a house in Middle GA today. I have asked if I can tell my mother and have said I won't say anything to anyone locally until moving day!
For 9 years he has gotten up to take his dog out on a leash multiple times a day. What a change this will be for my son and for the dogS! What a change for me! I wonder how often I will see them.
Carol: I hope you are healing okay.
I can't remember if I said there are 15 people signed up for the Yoga retreat. All 3 meals are included and the meals are buffet style. You have to bring your own shampoo to the retreat. I stopped and purchased some. I signed up for the free version of Life 360 and my son can see where I am (if he ever looks!).
Best,
Rosemarie from GA

Barbie: What a shock for you. Hugs and prayers for both of you.
Lisa: You’ll be pleased to get that quilt finished and packed off. It’s all the fiddly finishing off that cracks me up on a project, too.
Tracey in W: Nice to see you here. You’re doing so well.
Planning to visit DED after lunch. Hoping both grandsons will be there.

gratitudes:
This morning: fog, keeping the plants alive, sustaining the creek, refreshing our spirits.
Yesterday: The stage at the Del Norte county fair was shaky and there were no railings or other protections to keep folk from falling off the edge. No one did, but one gal came close after spinning around. I was too chicken to dance on that stage except tor the first dance where we all held hands. Instead, danced on the ground behind the stage. Really enjoyed dancing vs performing
Thursday: tech couldn’t make latch stick on washer, just as well as he’d have had to order the part and then there would be another wait for the next tech. He suggested surge protector, didn’t charge for the warranty service call. Washer lid hasn’t stuck in the locked position since ;}
Just skimmed through pg 4, that’ll teach me to miss 3 days in a row. Will catch up tomorrow after the play. Falling asleep. . .
Later, lighter, lovelies!

Good morning beautiful ladies!
Margaret yes sleep is a huge factor in happiness. Glad you are getting better sleep.
Pip new dishwasher Yay!
Tracie welcome back!
Tracey so sorry about the mouse.
Rosemarie that's excellent that your son bought a house near you! Yay!
Barbara good decision about the shaky stage. It pays to be careful.
I'm still recovering from last week guests and party. I've got sheets to wash, and I'm trying to get Dad to write thank yous. One guy bought my Dad a chess game, so I have to figure that out. It may be too hard for him which would be awkward.
Next up is taking Dad to church. We also have a funeral soon for his church friend.
Have a fantastic day! May you be happy, healthy, safe, and free!

Barbie ~ Healing prayers for Jake! So glad his children are planning to be there for you.
Rosemarie ~ Enjoy your yoga retreat. I would love to be in the Ashville Mts. Maybe this Fall. Hope your son's new house has a fenced in yard for the pup.
Pip ~ The new dishwasher looks great. Bosch products are supposed to very, very good. Have you and Kirby used your new camper lately?
Annie ~ I have tried to play chess online but it is beyond me. My DH is very good at it.
Yesterday, I was up at 3 AM and tried twice during the day to take a nap. Instead, I ate about 2,000 + more calories than I needed. Will try to do better today.
Granddaughter has started cheer practice wearing her boot. Hope she gets it off next Friday.

Jake texted at 9 PM that they were ready to transfer him to the other hospital. He got there safely and was in his new room by 11:30.
Carol, glad to hear of your progress.
Rosemarie, your yoga retreat sounds like a good thing. It's great to be with people with a common interest.
Grocery pickup at 8, Sunday walking friend at 9.
Barbara, you brought back great memories of my years of line dance performances at the county fair. Our stage was large and steady so I felt safe.

(((Barbie))) Take whatever small bits of time you can to do something for you!
KimAgree gov't is not easy to deal with. When I applied for spousal benefits they wanted to do it over the phone. I called early Feb and did not get an appointment until the end of April. So into social security office I went. I got there at 9:10 waited til 10:30. Then put in another line. I saw who I needed to see about 12:45. I left about 1. Fortunately all was straightened out and I got the back pay right away and I think it took another month to start getting my regular payments. This is why I tell spouses to have a good three months plus what you will need for funeral expenses in an account you don't touch so you are prepared to pay your bills when one spouse dies. (Hopefully making a decent interest)
Listened to a blog broadcast interviewing Sam Berne a holistic ophthalmologist. Interesting ideas on how to improve your eyesight. He is another voice stating the importance of getting out first thing in the morning and exposing your eyes to sunlight without sunglasses for 10-fifteen minutes. I loved how he said we are made of sunshine. The health of your liver directly affects the health of your eyes. Foods high in glutathione and asta xylene are important for the health of your eyes. Plant based diets are high in glutathione and seafood is high in ASTA xylene especially one with red like salmon and shrimp.
He also mentioned nitric oxide that I have heard other holistic doctors talk about the importance of this for overall health. It can also be increased by direct exposure to sunlight. Nasal breathing also increases nitric oxide in the blood. Good sleep also important once again!
He also stressed them importance of screening blue light especially from computer screen. Also learned computer screens can have a flicker which is also hard on the eyes.
If you have had cataract surgery it is especially important to screen your eyes from blue light. Your natural lens has some natural ability to screen blue light. The lens used to replace does not. With out that screening it make you more vulnerable to macular degeneration.
He also talked about the importance of challenging your vision to improve your vision. I know I have to be better at not spending long period viewing a screen and not taking breaks. At least every twenty minutes I need to stop and switch my focus.5 -

@Heather pg.4 I love beets and beet greens too! Have you ever tries the greens? We sautée them off of the fresh beets we buy. We always look for beets with the healthiest tops so we can eat them. Not bitter like other greens, somewhat sweet. If there are not enough, we mix them with whatever other greens we have on hand (Swiss chard, any color, spinach, etc). We eat the beetroots either slices and cooked, pickled, or cold in salads. Just watch out, they stain everything red! And it looks like blood sometimes!! LOL

He felt OK but the paramedics did an EKG and a bunch of stuff then put him in the ambulance and took him to our local ER. They checked with his cardiologist who asked that they transport him to the cardiologist's hospital about 90 minutes away. The dogs and I didn't sleep well and got up early. We'll know more later.

Same from me too. Hope everything works out for the best and everyone gets home safe and soon!
MFP was weird yesterday, this whole page, (pg.6) was missing from my feed? I had to go back and see what happened to Barbie and Jake. And Machka too!

I’m worried about my DH. He has been complaining of “stuffed up head and ears” for almost a month now and won’t go to Doc. He is almost deaf at this point. I think I will make him go tomorrow to the clinic. He won’t get in the car to go to the ER so can’t take him there. It’s the clinic tomorrow!
Working the pay booth again today. It was rather slow yesterday but today should be busier.

Dinner yesterday was cheeseburger with huge salad and potatoes (pan fried with onions and carrots). I had a green plout for dessert (new fruit I found. Kinda tastes like a plum). Supper was a biscuit with blueberries on top. Breakfast was oatmeal with blueberries, strawberries, 1/2 a banana, almond butter and real butter. Snack was a green plout (I bought 2) and a Sargento’s Balanced Snack with white cheddar, craisins, and almonds. I love those!!

Did a Power Hour DVD today then walked around the neighborhood. I’m getting to know the regular walkers...lol Then went to Food Lion since they put the wrong price on my rainchecks, then to WalMart.
Pip – I see you got a Bosch dishwasher. I really like mine. Bosch is one of the highest rated ones. You know something? I never used the hand soap dispenser so when we got a new faucet, we got one of those sprayers and put it in that hole
I’ve learned that if I order, say, shorts that I should order a size 8, size 6, and an 8 Petite. When they come in, go try them on and return the ones that I don’t want. A bit of a pain, but at least I get something that fits. The other good thing is that by the time you order so much, you get free shipping.
M – thanks for checking in and that it wasn’t something serious
kylia – you can keep your tp on the tp rack??? We can’t or it’s all over the floor. One of the kittens likes to lay on top of the toilet, mainly on top because we keep it closed….lol The way we’re going thru kitten food I swear we must be keeping Chewy in business….lol Trimmed their nails yesterday, cleaned up the litter box (we’re still using non-clumping litter) and the bathroom floor and vacuumed the rugs in the rooms they have.
barbie – oh no, I’m so sorry for you and Jake
Lanette – got a chicken question. Jess has given me eggs from her boss’ chickens. Now some of them, the yolks seem to stick to the shells when I crack them. Also, when I fry those eggs, the yolks are “rubbery”. Still good, just the consistency. What causes this?
Tracie – welcome back
Rosemarie – so glad you’re having such a good time
Rita – could your husband have a buildup of ear wax?

Well ladies I fell back asleep and slept until 11:30 this morning..yikes of course didn't get to sleep until after midnight.
Oh well
Nothing much going on here..more thunderstorms coming through this afternoon.
Barbie- here is hoping they figure out what is going on with and get him home to you soon.xoxo5 -
Tracey - I showed the hens that photo of the KFC painted coop and they promised to straighten up. Thanks for the giggle! Hope the powers that be get moving and offer you the job soon.
Michele - regarding your egg question, some things come to mind. Perhaps the egg lay on its side in the nest for a while (like a day) before it was gathered and put into a carton. I always store mine wide side up to keep the little air pocket at the top and it keeps the yolk centered. The other thing - are they old? Do they float in water? Could be, too, that the eggs are a little dried out. As long as they taste good and cook up OK, no worries.
Barbie - great news that Jake has been transferred and his kids are stopping by. Good time for everyone to catch up with dad. What a relief. Sounds like he's under great medical care, hope he improves quickly and is home soon with you and the pups.
Margaret - I've noticed since incorporating my "sunrise walk" I sleep much better. That early morning light is so beneficial. This winter, when it's dark and gloomy and too wet for me to be outside comfortably, I'll put incandescent bulbs back in the lamps, I think they do the same thing. LED lights might be brighter, but I don't think they have the healthy light spectrum our bodies need.
Carol - so happy your knee is healing and on the mend. I can't remember - do you need to have the other one done or is it OK? It will be so nice for you to walk without pain.
Rosemarie - Bet you're having a great time at the yoga retreat. Will your son be living closer to you now? You probably said and I zipped right past it.
Rita - you mentioned having a day where your eating was messed up due to a restaurant meal - that was ME a couple weeks ago when I had lunches with friends 2 days in a row. Got me off track and while I ate my healthy salad for supper, I was itching to jump in the car afterward and head to the quickie mart for some donuts and/or ice cream. I'm not sure if that craving was psychological or physiological. Maybe some of both. I managed to talk myself out of it and ate some nuts instead. Your yesterday meal looked delicious by the way.
Do you think your DH has allergies that are keeping him stuffed up like that?
Pip - great dishwasher, should last a long time. Glad the family is enjoying the new trailer, keeping the kids comfortable is paramount, right?
Heather - you and Rita have me eating beets again. I used to buy raw ones at the market and cook them myself, but eventually the only ones they had were huge. A couple weeks ago they had smaller ones so I grabbed a couple, and stuck them in the fridge. Thanks for reminding me, I cooked them up yesterday and add them to my salads. So nutritious. Since I don't eat sugar, they seem very sweet. Yum.
Kay - great photo of your granddaughter. Welcome to middle school.
Kylia and Michele - thanks for the reminders about clipping kitty toenails. I have nail clippers close by and will see if Kitty stands for it. I noticed yesterday her hair is starting to grow back. Can no longer see the clipper lines. It's coming in as a smooth pelt, only a few little places have the longer guard hair coming in. Splotchy, but that's OK.
** Reminder to get Weekly Check-In info to me by noon tomorrow. Thank you!**

Jake called and sounds good. By 7 AM they had already done an echocardiogram. I don't know what else the doctor has in mind so no idea how long he'll be there. He called a second time later to remind me that I had to pick up groceries at 8. We've had this car over a year, but this was the first time I had to open the trunk. It took me a minute to figure it out.
Margaret, Thanks for reminding me that something I already do is known to be healthy. I walk outdoors first thing every morning. In the winter it is still dark, but I walk long enough for the sun to start to rise so I can enjoy the earliest sunlight of the day.
Allie, As long as you don't have a job to go to in the morning, it doesn't much matter what time you sleep. I am always grateful for the sleep I get even if it's in the middle of a movie I'm watching on TV.
I got up late this morning (six rather than five) and took the dogs out for their walk. After picking up the groceries, I walked with my Sunday walking friend who said she could pick Jake up at the hospital if something happened with the offer from the across the street neighbor.
Rita, I like beet greens but not beets. At one time I grew beets and gave the beets to a friend and kept the greens
for myself.
I've been able find lots of time for myself. There are people I meet with on Zoom for a spiritual meeting and time to ride my exercise bike, knit, and watch Jesse Stone movies. I am skilled at the art of being alone. and entertaining myself. Waiting is easier for me than taking action.
Barbie in NW WA8 -
Barbie - Glad that the kids are in touch with Jake, and that he's in good hands. Thinking about you all. I'm finally on your side where sleep is concerned... Grateful for what I get, not worried about what I don't get.
Corey's off with his brother looking at possible houses to buy, Pat wants a flippable house. I'm happy to send them off together. They like each other's company, and like Barbie, I seldom if ever mind being alone. Feels lovely and peaceful. Too ouchy-hot outside to even breathe comfortably, so I was glad to stay home in the cool.
Later, y'all,
Love,

John had a 'good enough' day at the cricket. The first bit was spoilt for him by some people behind him laboriously explaining the rules to a foreign woman. Really slowly.
Eventually he got his group to move.
I have been pretty uncomfortable all day, and still am. I enjoyed chatting to G, and watched Mcdonald and Dobbs this evening. Tomorrow's bbq has been postponed to Tuesday. We will set off after my 4 o'clock Zoom.
I did manage to prepare the super easy meal tonight.
I have run out of the straight codeine tablets, so will either resort to co-codamol, or ask the hospital for another pack. Last time they gave me two. Need more ibuprofen as well, but John can buy those.
I thought I might try an outside venture tomorrow. I don't have to go anywhere, but a few steps on the pavement might be heartening. I went outside on day 9 last time.
Hoping for more progress soon.
