Mom gives a lot of the squash away! She also gives some to the chickens. She cooks some but not much.
She really doesn't need to grow than much. They are not producing as much as they usually do, which is ok. I think itis because they are not getting as much water as they should.

Has been a few really rough days because of tons of drama with dh and his mom- it got REALLY bad.
Today, she was actually a little remorseful for all the terrible, very hurtful things she said to him over the past three days. I will not be going back over there for a very long time(was told I was not welcome there, she didn't like me and never has). She pushed and pushed way too far. Even accused me of taking her money and giving it to my mom. I have no way of touching any of her money. Bad part is, he will not let anything go. He will bring up all the things she said over and over, which is not good for him mentally- I tried taking him to Psych one day-get him admitted for suicide watch at one point

It has really cooled off, weather wise here. The past two weeks we didn't have Aqua zumba and it was really hot. Have class tonight and it is a lot cooler- will have to remember to bring a jacket to wear when I get out of the pool. I will go swim laps before class then also after class.

We have a show to do with our 3D printed stuff up in Sacramento on Sunday. Nice to get away and it only takes an hour to get there and show will start at 11.-we will get there to set up at 9-son and his girlfriend are planning on going up to help set up. We will be meeting friends of dh's after for dinner.

We've never been to the Maritimes in Canada, and I think there's a train trip that goes from Montreal around the Maritimes.

We're also considering one that goes from top to bottom of Australia ... now that we've done west to east.

Heather - thank you! I’m excited for this. I agree about the vacation, I would have been at 4 weeks this year with the other place, I was not looking forward to going back to 2, so this is very welcome. The benefits starting day one is also unheard of.
I can’t wait to get in and get at it. I am going to work on my table this weekend and then next week I need to look at and organize my clothes to see what I have and what I might need.

Isn’t it wonderful when our grandchildren want to spend time with us. One of my favourite things to do growing up was to spend time with my grandmother. I sure miss her.

Lisa - I need to get a cover for my Cricut. I should dig out the sewing machine my friend gave me. I don’t know if it works or not. I also have an old trundle machine here that apparently does work, but needs a belt. I have my Mom’s here too, I’m planning on getting that one serviced and giving it to Kaitlyn.
Rodger has a lot of ideas floating around his head right now too. Heather made some snowmen and mushrooms this week on the wood lathe and ordered a thing to make pens with. We’ll see how this all goes.

Margaret- I don’t know how people don’t nasal breathe. I hate breathing through my mouth when I have a cold or something.

Machka - What an incredible journey. I would love to do that someday.

Lanette - I am anxious, but in a good way, to get in and get going. I do better with structure in my life and the finances have taken a beating so it will be incredible to get that back on track again as much as anyone can in this economy.
I think you had an auto correct. It said you were going to the feet store and you were interested in what the farmers were picking up. 😂. It told me a second to realize it was feed store.
Were those the trees you were hoping to get rid of?
I hear or see a chainsaw and immediately think of my grandfather and brother. We have different reactions. 😂😂

I was able to sand my table today 4 times with finer grit paper each time. I have one more sanding to do tomorrow and then I’ll be able to start staining.

Hopefully I get the table done tomorrow and can work on the chairs on Sunday and Monday, Tuesday I will get Rodger to help me with the deacons bench. I can’t carry it outside by myself.

I have been taking photos of my progress today and I think I was finally able to decipher some writing that’s underneath. I think it says:

Something (I am thinking, started) April 7 (I think) 1899
Something else and then May something.
I think it must be the start and end date it was made

I tried taking pictures to see if some fancy AI could maybe decipher it further but I haven’t attempted it yet.

I wondered about the nasal breathing too.

Even when my deviated septum blocked 3/4 of one nostril and 1/4 of the other, I breathed through my nose. When I got a cold and my nose was completely blocked, I hated breathing through my mouth. I was absolutely miserable. Since my surgery, breathing through my nose is even better!

The Indian-Pacific train journey was one of those things we wanted to do for a long time. We've talked about it for years. Since this year appears to be the year I'm doing things that have been on my list for a long time, I figured it was time to go for it! And it was well worth it.

Well done on the table. When you take photos of the words, take them with and without flash in various lights. Sometimes a certain lighting will make the text clearer.

Hi, I’m new to this group. I used MyFitnessPal 6 years ago, successfully lost the weight I needed, then developed health issues, pandemic happened, family stressors and I gained back all of the weight I’ve lost.

I’ve found it harder this time to lose because I’m now in my 50s and severe knee arthritis limits my mobility. But I’m tracking my intake and am already losing, just slowly! Hoping weight loss will ease up the knee pain.

One thing I felt like has helped me with weight loss is hormone replacement therapy (HRT). I went through early menopause 10 years ago and the few times I’ve gone off my compounded hormones, I gained weight and found it much, much harder to lose. Went back on HRT and the weight comes off easier. Wondered if others have noticed a similar difference.

Hope to connect with others in my age group. Being in my 50s, sometimes I feel invisible!

Tracey - At one level, I SO envy your new beginning 🥰, and at another level, I do not at all 😂. I always loved those life-sized transitions, where I was starting a new job, and all the signs were rosy. But thinking about it now also just kind of makes me tired... 😝😂🤣 More power to you, my dear, and I'm so pleased that benefits are from day one. That first time period without them is fraught with apprehension of an unexpected expense or unpaid time off for illness. Glad they're better than you expected, too, what a bonus that is! So pleased for you. And that one pic of the dark wood vs. the fully sanded pieces is stark! You've put a tremendous amount of work into it, and it really shows. It will be beautiful.

Machka - That trip sounds absolutely wonderful... and just the ticket for Rowan I imagine, to be able to exist in the same environment as you traveled. Hope his was a tremendously happy birthday and that you both enjoyed it enormously. Sorry to have tagged you when you were off having a good time - of COURSE you weren't going to announce your trip away from home publicly, and of course we were going to worry about you. Nice to be loved and missed, I hope. 🥰

Annie - Thank you - it is lovely to have even moments of feeling well. We tend to take it for granted, don't we. I think of you every day and check to see how you and your dad are faring. Yoohoo, it's me!

If you look at my time tick, I'm up in the middle of my night again - sinus headache and rumble guts are keeping me up at the moment. The headache has almost subsided. Not so sure yet on the gut. Whatever. It will pass.

If I stay awake, I'm hoping that the tea and decongestant may trick my mind into three-D thinking. My spatially challenged brain went into absolute gibbering fits trying to construct a small, square, lined bag, I swear. 🤣 Left my gray matter just sobbing in the corner, big whiny baby.

Luckily, I always have extra of everything, because that first attempt created some Möbius strip of a bag that will never hold a piece of candy, but might well send it into another dimension... 🤣😁🐿️ I may have created a fabric Tardis. 👀🙄😁 Found a video that explained better what I was trying to accomplish, which I will watch a few times over before I try again.

Life is always an adventure.

Tracey - I'm going to pop up to the Farmer's Market this coming morning as the folks that organize that event all summer also run a Christmas fair each year, too. Once I get a date, I'll know how much time I have to create some tschotskes. I checked the ones in the two nearby towns and one wanted $80 to set up a table and one wanted $120, and both were "juried" fairs, so they judge your stuff to see if it's good enough to sell at their fairs. I'll pass. This one charged $10 the only time I checked in prior years, and their only requirement was that you bring your own table.

Thinking about what you said, though, I might get Corey to chainsaw me some rounds off the deadfalls he'll be cleaning up in the weeks to come. I've got a wood-burning set to make them into quick ornaments... Cheerfully cribbing from your playbook on that one! Note: Pay no attention to that, it's the idea fairy. She's attached to me like an octopus, and won't hush up! 🦑🐿️🥰

So I will sign off from the deep darkness of the River Valley of Arkansas. I can hear the crickets and the frogs outside, calling for the rain that is supposed to show up in ten or 12 hours, thus the headache, in all likelihood.

Anyway... Going to go try to make some headway in the craft room until I begin to yawn... Hope it is, was or will be a good Saturday for all.

Meet and Greet

Took us four days to get together for a meet and greet, maybe a good thing. At the park, Moose walked right up to Joe, leaned on his leg and looked up at him adoringly. “Smart dog.” I said. Joe said “You’re a good puppy.” When we discovered a scabbing over cut on his shoulder the foster confessed Moose had been in “a little scrap” with their female Doberman pinscher. (!)
We were ready to pile Moose in the car with Shadow and Tumble, but breeder wanted to take him by to visit W. My heart breaks for her, such a hard call, but breeder says she’s taking it well. Might take him by to visit periodically, if it doesn’t seem to hurt her.
Breeder seemed satisfied with our fenced setup and the way the dogs were interacting. (Tumble’s still a little growly/barky, but nothing serious.) When she and her daughter left, Moose went to the gate and watched all the way down the lane. Then he went to the side gate and around the house to the front gate then back to the parking area gate. He came in the house readily enough for Tummy Time, but then went to every outside door and window looking for them. Even whined a couple of times. Broke my heart some more.

Today’s gratitude: Shadow and Moosey playing chase.

I was actually planning to keep chatting right up till we left, and maybe a bit while we were in Perth, but I got so busy during that last week of July that I wasn't sitting at my computer in the evenings -- I was running around like a chicken with its head cut off!
And I don't have the 60-90 minutes a day on a bus anymore when I used to reply to things.

Then once we got to Perth, I went straight into holiday mode. And I was so tired that first night I fell asleep about 9:30, shortly after dinner, and barely stirred till 9:30 am!!

The train took us right through the middle of the outback where there was no internet coverage for much of the way ... which suited me just fine. It was really nice to turn everything off for a while.

It was nice to be loved and missed!

This weekend

-- Last night we went to the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra's Gaming Music concert. They played music from video games. It was very well done and we enjoyed it immensely. We also enjoyed the fact that there were so many families with children ... I think it's great to expose kids to music other than the "pop" they often hear.

I also revealed to my husband that I was a gamer of old.

Back in the day, I loved playing Pacman, Tetrus, SimCity, Driving games, Flying games, and all sorts. Not only that, but I played lots of other games including Dungeons and Dragons ... and I was a Dungeon Master.

-- We're spending quite a bit of time at the previous residence working on the garden.

Everything is out of the main level of the house and it has been professionally cleaned. Next week the steam cleaners and pest control come and do their thing. The window washers also come.

As of now, 99% of the stuff is out of the basement/garage and it has been cleaned.

Today, I spent at least 4 hours in the garden weeding and tidying while my husband mowed the lawns. It is a pretty decent-sized, complicated garden and as we haven't actually lived in the house for a little over a month now, I haven't been out walking Rhody every night while pulling weeds here and there. It is the middle of winter here, but weeds still grow!

There is pretty much just one section I still need to do ... and hopefully that will happen tomorrow. I think my husband is planning to do some hedge trimming.

And I'm back to work on Monday.

I've slept pretty well except the darn cat has knocked my lamp of the bedside table in the middle of the night.sheesh.the lampshade is a mess..going to have to find a new one.

Back to work on Monday after our trip. I took a week off.

And it was sensational ... something I've wanted to do for a long time.

We've been more or less in our new place for about a month. We've got quite a bit of stuff in a storage unit, and a lot of the stuff in our new place is still in boxes. But we are here and I've been going to work from here for the past month. Getting used to a new commute.

I'm looking forward to being able to work from home again, but that won't happen for a while because I can barely step into my home office yet. Plus we had trouble setting up the internet for a while earlier in July, and we have had to have a new power point (electrical wall socket) installed.

And yes, not much left to do at the old place. Mainly gardening, which I prefer to inside stuff.

Pip hope Kirby has fun in Las Vegas. He might like Red Rock Canyon. We used to go there with Kentucky Fried chicken and climb way up the rocks to bask in the sun and eat. There used to be a lot of wild burros.

Debbie so sad that your husband's mother is getting worse. Paranoia often comes with dementia. I've been lucky that my parents get confused but don't blame me. My ex husband's family was full of mean blame and accusations and it's a terrible way to live. I hope you can remove yourself from it.

Lisa yes I bought and read the three Crusie novels. So funny and clever! It was an excellent foil to the high tension thrillers I read. So delightful!

Time to get ready to walk. I'm either way out of shape or a little short of breath lately. Hmm. I have a Dr appointment coming up.
