Called Janie (sis) to c when she was planning on coming over, Tuesday around noonish. She asked if Danny could come, she wanted to come. She’s her daughter’s husband’s daughter, probably around 10 or 11, I’m terrible with ages, I told her sure. Apparently she’s a terror in the family but kids usually act different around other people and I was surprised to hear that because she seemed fine around me. However, I will put her in her place if she starts up, ain’t having it. Kinda hoping on 1 on 1 time but I guess not. She said she will stay til Thursday.

PIP ~ Hope you enjoy your sister's and Danny's visit.
Rosemarie ~ So sorry Covid has invaded your yoga retreat and hope you feel better soon.
Lisa ~ What will you be making for the craft fair?
My two weeks of not going grocery shopping has left the freezer empty of main meal ideas. We will go to Sam's Club this morning to stock up on a few items. Just hoping that I can walk the aisles and not get exhausted.

Carol - Not completely sure yet, but I'll probably narrow it down pretty soon. Right now what's in my mind are crocheted headbands, beaded and wooden Christmas ornaments, another couple of shawls without the fringe, potholders and if there's still time, a couple of baby quilts. Most of these take a few hours at most to put together. Might create some fabric gift bags now that I've figured out the 3-d bag thing. Maybe some gift card holders, since that what it seems most people give these days. Still thinking about it.
Got these trick-or-treat bags for Haley and Levi finished last night. They're about 18 inches across, and actually identical, but reversible. Will get them mailed to Hawaii this next week most likely, along with my son-in-law's birthday gift. The first one took nearly five hours to make, while I worked through the video over and over. The second one took about an hour.

@Makcha I loved your website and the train trip! I used to have one too, but didn’t want the expense any more so took it down.
@Lisa so many ideas! I love your Trick or Treat bags, so cute!
@ whoever is doing the table. I would never have the patience to do that, but I used to want to when I was in a house. I’ve turned into a slug living in the RV.
I think I’ve got my DH’s sinus infection, so not working in booth today. Will see how I fell tomorrow. No fever (I never seem to get them) but sinus headache and congested. Yuck!
Dinner yesterday was sautéed boneless chicken thigh, carrots, potatoes, onions, celery and a side of cucumber and an orange.

Lanette – did you find the necklace? I agree that restaurant food is too salty. Wish there was a way to get the salt out. You’d BETTER share those photos of the guys!!!!
Barbara – lately I’ve gotten to playing mahjongg from the paper. Truthfully, I’m getting a little tired of this card (for the American mahjongg) so I’m starting doing the one that the e-edition of the paper provides. That can be another rabbit hole. Welcome Moose!
Tracey – how wonderful! Raising my glass (of water) to you!
Heather – Bea is going to be 11???? Where did the time fly to? It seems only yesterday that she was born!
Lisa – tea in this heat!!! I couldn’t have it. Now in winter that’s about all I drink. Those hairbands you are crocheting..what’s the pattern. Is it very complicated (in other words...can I do it?)
Rosemarie – continue to get better
Debbie – you’ll feel better not going to MIL’s. Good luck at the show!
Vince is always talking about taking the TransSiberian Railway
MM – welcome!
M – what a wonderful trip!
Pip – hope Kirby has a great time. I know he will but he’ll also miss you
Still no relay for the oven. Consumers Reports rates LG appliances highly, but the service guy for our washer said to us that their consumer support leaves a LOT to be desired, and he’s right.

I can’t wait to get in and get at it. I am going to work on my table this weekend and then next week I need to look at and organize my clothes to see what I have and what I might need.
Isn’t it wonderful when our grandchildren want to spend time with us. One of my favourite things to do growing up was to spend time with my grandmother. I sure miss her.
Lisa - I need to get a cover for my Cricut. I should dig out the sewing machine my friend gave me. I don’t know if it works or not. I also have an old trundle machine here that apparently does work, but needs a belt. I have my Mom’s here too, I’m planning on getting that one serviced and giving it to Kaitlyn.
Rodger has a lot of ideas floating around his head right now too. Heather made some snowmen and mushrooms this week on the wood lathe and ordered a thing to make pens with. We’ll see how this all goes.
Margaret- I don’t know how people don’t nasal breathe. I hate breathing through my mouth when I have a cold or something.
Machka - What an incredible journey. I would love to do that someday.
Lanette - I am anxious, but in a good way, to get in and get going. I do better with structure in my life and the finances have taken a beating so it will be incredible to get that back on track again as much as anyone can in this economy.
I think you had an auto correct. It said you were going to the feet store and you were interested in what the farmers were picking up. 😂. It told me a second to realize it was feed store.
Were those the trees you were hoping to get rid of?
I hear or see a chainsaw and immediately think of my grandfather and brother. We have different reactions. 😂😂
Rosemarie - I’m so sorry your retreat was ruined with Covid.
I hope you feel better soon.
Rebecca - that’s a long wait for a parcel!
Pip - I hope you and your sister have a nice visit and Kirby has a great trip.
I was able to sand my table today 4 times with finer grit paper each time. I have one more sanding to do tomorrow and then I’ll be able to start staining.
Hopefully I get the table done tomorrow and can work on the chairs on Sunday and Monday, Tuesday I will get Rodger to help me with the deacons bench. I can’t carry it outside by myself.
I have been taking photos of my progress today and I think I was finally able to decipher some writing that’s underneath. I think it says:
Created by Mr. Kinney (Great or Great Great Grandfather)
Something (I am thinking, started) April 7 (I think) 1899
Something else and then May something.
I think it must be the start and end date it was made
I tried taking pictures to see if some fancy AI could maybe decipher it further but I haven’t attempted it yet.

That's the Fleet Post Office for you! The fact that it most likely just sat at the carrier, then transferred to the carrier they're riding back to Japan, then finally picked up by someone from the squadron to take it to where the squadron is hanging out, and jets live when not on the carrier, its really chaotic. So today is his birthday, and his present? Rock hard brownies! 🙄💖

Lanette--I have been wondering about Meg also. That part of the state lost power and they are slowly getting it back on. Lots of down power lines. It is to rain the next several days and we can use it. I just pray it is a gentle rain. You are like me, I will put something away to keep it safe and then drive myself crazy trying to find it.
Tracey--Great news on the job!!
Deb--Hugs and prayers
Well I got the results of the biopsy they did a couple weeks ago. I have Lichen Planus, which I understand is a chronic inflammatory & Autoimmune Disease. So have to find out what the plan is. I know I am broke out in 2 places and they are not fun places.

Vicki - I looked up lichen planus, because it sounded like some kind of growth on a tree branch (they really need to come up with better names!), and it sounds painful and like added stress you definitely do not need. I'm so sorry you're going through this. I hope they can get you what you need quickly and get you more comfortable.
Michele - No pattern, just chain stitch the right amount to go around a head, then go back the other way with double crochet stitches to match, then join them. The crochet has just enough stretch that I don't get headaches from them. On another note, I know you do a lot of tea towel toppers in crochet, but I realized that I don't know if you sew as well. Thinking about making a couple of these:
https://youtu.be/v-eRoUkyKSQ?si=ZctqoTWLvVSUoqBG
Quiet Saturday - popped up to the Farmer's Market and got a dozen farm-fresh eggs from an old friend there... Found out they haven't set a date yet for the Christmas Fair, and still deciding between the week before Thanksgiving and the week after. Corey and I slipped into town to pick up some trim boards for the carport, but once we got home, I got busy in the craft room while listening to Nat Geo TV and he went out in the sunroom to read (still napping, in other words 🥰).
Time to jump in the shower and then get a simple dinner together, just sausage and rice. Oh, if you haven't tried it, frozen strawberries (no sugar added) and a serving of light greek vanilla yogurt is amazing. Lots of good protein, around 150 to 160 calories, and spun up in a blender, it ends up being a terrific sweet, creamy, frosty treat for a summer day.
Hope it is or was a good day for you, too.

did you see the video I shared on FB- the cute eyeglass case that is sewn from a circle of fabric?
I may try and make a few if I have time.
Just signed up for another show- this one is close to mom's, only 4 hrs and $35 plus donate an item for their raffle that is worth $20 or more. It is in November. A very small place so not expecting huge sales but close to a lot of friends so may get to see many old friends/classmates and "making table"/covering costs will be easier up there.
We are paying I think $75 for the one tomorrow and it is just 5 hrs long.
Both shows an hour away.
Just gave our seizure cat another flea bath- we try not using flea meds-he doesn't get the drops.
Last time we used Dawn dish soap but he still had them so he got another , using some flea shampoo.
Had to do something. He was so miserable
did a little shopping after dh got done at his mom's. Stopped for lunch at our favorite Cajun fish and chicken place. He is friends with the owners- he wanted to show them pictures of some of the new stuff he made(strokes his ego a bit which he needs)- got fried calamari/fries and an order of hush puppies.
Not sure what I will do for dinner.
Last night after aqua zumba I was really hungry- air fried some prosciutto to go on my open face tomato and onion sandwich. SOOOO good. I ate the rest of the tomato and prosciutto without any more bread.
Need to pack up for tomorrow- won't take too long. Just need to remember to take everything.
Going up early so we have plenty of time to set up.

Lisa: Pretty quilt! Sounds like your gut health is improving. Hope this continues!
MargaretTurk: Congrats on the weight loss!
Carol: I hope your trip to Sam's club went okay and that your knee aches less so you can do more at PT!
RVRita: I think I will purchase the MyPlate when this last month of Nutrisystem ends!
Annie: Praying the medication is helpful for your Dad!
Lanette: Did you or he put it on top of the fridge or in an empty vase that was sitting out at the time. I wore a piece of
turquoise jewelry that my DH and I purchased together the last year of his life. I wish i worn it more then. I didn't have a chain for it and darn...didn't make it a priority! I enjoyed it this past week though. I also have a locket that needs a chain with a picture of him inside.
Tracey: Congrats on the job offer!
Flea: I have severe osteoporosis in my spine. I do wonder if yoga is harmful for this condition. I would hate to be told to stop doing yoga! But i should probably Google this and find out! I guess my biggest fear with osteoporosis is that I will have a fracture and get addicted to pain medication like so many unfortunate people are in our Country.
Dr. Katiebug: I hope your brother is recovering well!
Machka: What a cool trip!
MM: Welcome! I usually don't have problems feeling unseen or unnoticed. However this past week I was sitting on the portico/patio looking at the mountain view when a group of 5 people mostly in their 50s came out and walked past me, one person said something to me quickly, they all sat down at the table in front of me and prepared to have a lively breakfast. They were part of the group of 15 of us that were suppose to be "bonding" during the yoga retreat. I guess they didn't plan to eat at the assigned "yoga" table we were encouraged to eat at. I am in my middle 60s and still adjusting to widowhood. I also was coming down with COVID and didn't know it. I got up and left feeling very unseen and rather irked. To me it felt rather like high school. I enjoyed my trip but am rather glad to be home! Away from that stuff!
I drove home this morning and was ill but doing okay, no fever. I had a quiet day and will skip church and stay in tomorrow. Maybe Monday I will go out with a mask and then retest on Monday evening. I have a luncheon on Tuesday I would like to attend. Thank you all for your well wishes! This is my second go around with Covid. I have a dry cough this time. I seem to have more energy than last time. I will have to mask more in the future because of my age I think. The Asheville area really is beautiful. I will say that!
Best,
Rosemarie from Georgia

Rebecca – rock hard brownies dunked in milk are quite good actually
Lisa – I don’t sew much other than something straight. I used to sew a lot, but haven’t done much in quite a while. Those towel toppers look neat. I put frozen fruit (strawberries, blueberries) in yogurt, let the berries thaw and that makes a “juice” for mixing in the yogurt.
Took a walk around the neighborhood
The Corner Table has this canned food drive that they’re having this month. Each of the churches in the area are participating. They weigh your donation and credit that much to your tally. I picked up the donations from my church on Fri, took it to them, they weighed it and we had over 400 pounds. They’re collecting again so I need to see if I can pick up the donations on Tues after work and then take them to the soup kitchen to be weighed or wait until Fri when I go there anyway.

Machka - I’ll have to try to get more pictures of the writing. I tried rubbing a pencil across paper over it but it’s not deep enough.
Lisa - I’m excited for this position, I understand the tiredness of it all too. The last manor was a STEEP learning curve under stressful conditions, I feel prepared for this one much more and I know they have a team that is willing to help others succeed.
I just hope I have an office I like.
Lisa - The bags turned out well. I bet you could sell those too if you were so inclined.
That dark wood in the picture last night is the original finish on this table. At some point in the 80’s my Dad sanded the top and put polyurethane on it. I am using a stain and varnish in one, called coffee. If I’m right and this was built in 1899, it’s done well to only have 3 finishes. It was never a precious table. It was the family table for everyday use. I don’t remember it being used at my Great Grandparents, my uncle was a bachelor and just used a smaller table by the wood stove. I do know that that same uncle had his appendix removed on it.Sorry I got into story telling mode.
My grandmother often told the story of having to harness the wagon to go across the river to fetch the doctor to bring him to the home. She talked about the fear of not getting back in time with the doctor and travelling by horse at night. She and the doctor arrived back and the doctor operated by oil lamp light on the table. I don’t know if I know her exact age that this happened but I got the impression she was about 15-16 at the time.
After it came to my parents house I have so many memories of it. Their house never had a living room until the year after I was married. We had a couch and later when my other grandmother moved in a twin sized bed and the table and chairs for seating. We did everything at this table.
When I get everything done and everything put back in order I plan on taking a picture with the dishes from my great grandmother laid out on it.
Machka - What is your commute like now, I hope a lot less for you.
I was so impressed with the music teacher when I was with the grade fives. He taught them about Elvis and The Beatle’s in the weeks before I was there. While I was there they learned about “The Midnight Special” and the last week they had music trivia games on YouTube. One was songs made famous in Cartoons and the other was Movie Soundtracks. Those kids amazed me at some of the songs they knew. Way back to the 70’s.
My grandson is a Dragon Master, so is his dad. My son in law’s best friend that the kids call Uncle actually just moved back here from Ontario because he misses game nights with them so much. They play board games as well as video games.
Pip - sorry you won’t get the one on one time. Hopefully the little one goes to bed or sleeps in so you have some alone time with your sister. Have a nice visit.
Rita - I have been procrastinating on this table for 3 years. It’s about time I get at it.
I have visited my friend that moved into a camper this year and I can understand how easy it would be to become sluggish, there isn’t much room to do much.
Vicki - hope that now they know what it is you have they can come up with a treatment plan that works. I looked it up, it looks quite painful.
Debbie - good luck on your sale tomorrow. I use suitcases to tote my stuff back and forth to shows. They usually live right in my car during the Christmas season.
Rosemarie- Sorry you felt unseen. I would be irked too.
I hope you feel better soon.
Tomorrow I am sanding the chairs and may start painting or staining them. I need to decide which to do first. We had a discussion today and I have decided to go with painted backs and legs and a stained seat. We think everything stained or everything painted will be too much.
Tuesday I’ll start the deacons bench. I need Rodger’s help carrying it outside and he won’t be here during the day until then.
This is the table tonight.

Morning, my chicks... Hope it's a grand weekend!
Was up early, but not as early as yesterday, so there's that.
Just a funny story of the way our world is working right now. Neither important nor germane to our discussions here:So in mid-June, I put together everything necessary to file mailed passport applications for me and Corey, and the only thing he had to do was stand up against the wall so I could take a picture and then sign the finished form. I knew he'd never mess with it if I didn't do it, and we do both prefer to have a valid passport. It's kind of the adult thing to do, as I think Barbie pointed out.
Anyway, I got both apps together, mailed them separately but at the same time on the 15th of July, and did all the right things, as evidenced by the fact that we got Corey's new passport back the 1st of August. The check for his processed through our bank July 18. Friday, we got even got back his old passport in the mail. Spiffy! Great service! They say applications take around six weeks these days. His took two.
Mine apparently fell in a black hole. Check not cashed, nothing.
So I called them, more from curiosity than anything. Sent from the same address, same day, same post office mailed, same everything. What's up? She was very nice. My paperwork was definitely in progress, I even got an "application locator number" from her if I had to call back about anything.
There were no questions or red flags in the file, or any indication that I had done anything wrong or made a mistake. She was actually much more shocked that Corey's passport WAS complete and had no answer at all as to why his went through quickly and mine took the more traditional time frame.
If I was of a conspiratorial bent, I'd be holding my chin and saying "Hmm." If I thought it was just because he was good-looking, it would be another thing entirely--but it was truly the worst photo I've ever seen of him. He looks like he just bit into a lemon after he smelled a sewer pipe, and like he hasn't slept in a decade.
But there it all is; I'm shrugging. 🤷🏼♀️ I think it's funny. Good thing I'm not in a hurry for mine! 🙄😂😝
Not a lot in the offing today other than doodling around with making stuff. No idea what, if anything, Corey wants to do or accomplish today. Supposed to start raining in an hour or so, and I do need to get all the bird feeders down and cleaned up and re-filled as soon as it's light. Should be able to stay reasonably dry while I do it, because of the 4-foot overhang Corey put on the outside of the sunroom. 🥰👀🤣
The rain will supposedly be falling all day, and I hope it is a nice soaking rain without getting too violent. We need the moisture so badly... it's a dusty old Arkansas out there.
Halfway through my second cup of tea, time to get something done.
Love y'all,

Edie was her usual wunderkind, and it's been great having Sue, if a bit tiring. I think I will have a long nap this afternoon. It's v hot here. I want to bag a shady table.
Love you all, Heather UK xxxxxx5 -
Lisa, Strange about your passport!
Heather: Enjoy your visit with Sue and then grab a long nap!
I am feeling pretty well. Maybe my Covid is gone. I will allow myself a trip to Starbucks and take a walk and come back and do some yoga. I read one of the exercises one should not do with osteoporosis is the full Forward fold. And any of the exercises with a twist! I still have not found out if it is okay to do the Down Dog with legs extended in the air and then the the leg bent to do circles.
My home looks quite picked up. I am quite pleased. I know I need to begin again, but maybe at a slower pace this time!

Happy Sunday ladies! I started this yesterday then the day flew by.
Machka - what an amazing trip. Glad to hear you aren't rushed to vacate the old place.
Tracey - I am so happy for you! Your future employer figured out they are getting someone who loves to keep busy, is a problem solver, takes pride in her work, and knows her stuff. No wonder the generous hiring package. I think my brain needs auto-correct - I've typed so much about my feet it's automatic once my fingers hit the keyboard, lol. I'm happy the power company should be able to leave plenty of trees back there for a buffer but still have access to their pole.
Pip - sounds like Kirby has planned a nice adventure. Did I remember right that you are coming up to WA this summer?
Rosemarie - so glad you enjoyed Ashville and are feeling better. This back stuff is tricky - with the SI joint problems I've been having, they say don't do twisty stretches. Just simple bridging and some yoga type stretching done real slow. I know I have osteopenia starting back there.
I have put the hunt for the necklace on the back burner (though I will look in some vases - thank you Rosemarie for the suggestion!) I decided to pray for the best outcome and let it go. Did DH hide it? Give it to someone? Did I hide it? Is it hiding in plain sight? Is it off partying somewhere with Lisa's passport? Only the gremlins know.
Better get this thing posted.
Reminder to get Weekly Check-in info to me no later than tomorrow noon. TIA.

Not rushing was indeed the plan!
Everything takes 2 or 3 times longer since my husband's accident 6.5 years ago.
We bought this new place in early April and our lease in the previous place doesn't expire until the middle of August.
That gave us the chance to get some renovations done and to move stuff over here very slowly, in our minivan, on weekends (because I've been working the whole time).
However, in early July, I became aware of the quantity of stuff (and the mess) in the basement/garage and needed to increase the pace which included hiring removalists one day and renting a moving van on a couple other days. But I continued to work so our weekends and some evenings were flat out in July.
Today was several more hours in the garden of the previous place, so we're getting there.
Thank goodness we have till mid-August!

Good morning beautiful ladies!
Well, yesterday I planned to drop off my Dad's car for an oil change, and then go out to lunch next door, but the car wouldn't start. Okay so I cancelled the oil change and called a tow truck/ battery service. The guy came and jumped the battery from a device for 75$. Then I let it run for half an hour to charge it up.
Then this morning I was going to do the weekly drive, and it won't start. Fooey. So I'm doing the only logical thing which is to have a cup of tea and recharge myself first.
The bottom line is that car needs to be sold. But my dad isn't ready to give it up. The battery guy said I need to let it run for thirty minutes twice a week. That's too much time to spend. It may be time to do something against my Dad's wishes. So then either I could tell him outright or deceive him. Hmm. He doesn't accept that he can't drive anymore. He thinks he ought to keep the car in case he needs to go somewhere.
I have another oil change appointment on Wednesday at 11. There's no point in getting it jumped on a Sunday. Maybe Monday I will call, and have them come on Wednesday morning. I wonder if they would replace the battery for us.
Meanwhile I will consult my sister about selling the goshdarn car. I would either need my dad to sign, or invoke the power of attorney, to sell it. Hmm.
Oh well. No police, no hospital, so it's not a bad day, just a challenge. We are warm and dry and fed, and counting our blessings.
Thanks for hearing me out. Good friends and a cup of tea take the sting out of these situations.
Have a great day! May you all be happy, healthy, safe and free!

Annie- I had the same problem with DH's truck that was barely driven. I finally just bought a new battery - the cheapest one on the shelf, but it was new, and it helped with the sale when I found a buyer. "New Battery!!"
Just an idea. You might get a neighbor or the oil change guy to put it in for you.

@Lisa The same thing happened to Kevin and My apps for gun licenses. He got his really fast, mine took over 6 weeks!
I’ve not been feeling well, having, I think, the sinus infection my DH has had. No pay booth for me this weekend, slept most of the day yesterday and feel like doing that again today. I already have a dr appointment on Tuesday so will wait until then to get antibiotics. ‘Sigh’ nice to share but…..
Dinner yesterday was a salad and tricolor pasta topped with Swedish meatballs, all home made except the pasta without eggs. Breakfast has been muesli with 3/4 cup vanilla Greek yogurt and 1/2 banana, supper/snack was a snack mix I made with nuts, muesli and cheese, and another that had celery, carrots, and nuts. HMM, must have orange, and kiwi today…..
