Vicki - hope the dermatologist is able to help you.
Rita - sorry to hear you weren't able to keep the crud at bay, hoping you are doing better.
Barbara - I like the taste of Theraflu, lol. Also like the name "Moochie (poochie)." Welcome to the pack, right?

As I've got nothing better to do, I've been online trying to save money on our food bill. I had £10 off a £40 order from the Co-op, so managed to squeeze in at £40.08. That's coming this afternoon. I ordered heavy things that John doesn't like carrying. He's fruit and vegetable shopping today.
Then we need our particular brand of strong coffee. Found that Amazon were offering 25% off a first order of 6, if you do Subscribe and Save. So I've done that, coming tomorrow, and I've set a reminder on my phone calendar to cancel the S&S before the next batch.
Little things, but I've saved over £16 in an hour. And saved John's back.
This year is the first year that our plum tree at the bottom of the garden has born healthy fruit. Previously, it had plums , but they were riddled with parasites. John pruned it autumn and spring, and sprayed it in the spring, and we have had a lovely crop of Victoria plums, and are still picking every day. We love our stewed fruit for dessert. At our last house we had masses of plums, apples, and pears, as well as gooseberries and blackcurrants. Our current cherry tree only produces a few fruits. Very pleasing to have home grown fruit.
I've been up and doing the laundry, including bending while hanging the washing up in the utility room. (No tumbler dryer) I also cooked boiled eggs in the IP, and mashed them with butter for sandwiches for lunch.
Next job, doing my roots tomorrow! That involves bending over to wash out the dye in the upstairs shower, though I could use the washbasin. Might do that.
At the moment, I'm more worried about my knee than my hips.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx7 -
Allie - Love the pic of Alfie! Such a cutie.
Barbara AHMOD - Oh my stars and whiskers, GERD retching sounds horrible. I'm so averse to upchucking, don't know how you deal with at all. And perhaps "overcoming challenges," is part of why I'm backing and filling. Corey calls me "Princess Pea-nell-oh-pea" when I start whining that "I don't wanna!" As in "Is there a pea under your mattress that's bothering you, Princess?" As in, marrying a man who was obviously warped by fairy tales in his youth is hazardous! His mother was the town librarian and took him to work with her, as he was reading when he was very young. 🤣👀😁 Sorry - that was a squirrel... 🐿️😁
Hugs going out to Vicki and Rita, hope you're both feeling better...
Happy belated birthday to Carol, as well!
Heather - The plums sound wonderful. Corey's not been successful getting fruit trees here, but we might finally get a few figs this year. Love watching you gently resume the reins of your daily life again. Such joy in that. 🥰
Machka - Many hugs. There are a lot of tough memories there too, like when Rowan fell, and the fear that surrounded your whole life for so long. It's definitely the end of an era for you, this move.
Mo - With that kind of family history, I'd definitely be getting all the tests, too! My ex-husband's father, grandfather, uncles and every man in the paternal line that he was aware of all died of heart attacks. So, he didn't smoke, didn't drink, etc., and still had a heart attack at 47, had to have a stent put in. Knowing your family history is important! Heart issues in my maternal line, diabetes, too, but but little cancer, thank goodness.
Well... didn't nap yesterday, did my ten minutes of yoga. But the bends or the effort seem to have started the old issue with vertigo again. Had a hard time getting it to subside so the bed would stop moving last night. Terrible feeling clutching the bedsheets so you don't fall off. When I get out of my chair, I'll get the Epley maneuver performed, and see if I can get my balance centers balanced once more!
Later, my dears,
Love,
Lisa in AR

Heather: The jitterbug must be catching. We have strawberries, but no fruit trees.
Lisa: Hope the vertigo goes. Feeling dizzy in bed must be very disturbing.
Awake bright and early feeling much refreshed. And the feeling persists. I have done laundry and vacuumed upstairs (DH was doing downstairs after his yoga, so I nabbed the machine after he’d finished with it. Wet weather is supposed to break mid afternoon, so will continue with the gilet until then trying to avoid the lure of internet jigsawing 😜

Good morning beautiful ladies!
Barbie I can see having a dog in the car would be tough. My dog would be constantly asking to sit in my lap, even while driving. Lots of training!
Vicki so sorry about your rash. Hope the doctor can find something to help. These things can really bring you down especially if you don't sleep. But it's likely to be better soon.
Pip glad you had a good visit.
Heather hugs! Your attitude has been so bright and sunny so far, a dip is normal. But your prognosis is excellent!
Debbie so sorry the power went out and then everyone dumped on you. Hope you get back to the wetlands soon.
Barbara take care of that cold! Hope you feel better soon!
Allie happy birthday to sweet Alfie!
Machka moving includes grieving for the old way as well as excitement and challenges of the new.
Terri glad you slept well. Sometimes that's all it takes!
Lisa sorry the vertigo came back.
Yesterday we made great progress with my Dad's car. It has a brand new battery, and we got the oil changed. They checked out the whole car, including testing the starter and alternator, and it's all good! No extra work! Yay! So I put setting up the trickle charger on the calendar for
Saturday.
My dad worked on his puzzle until his back was sore, then sneezed and it went out. At least he didn't fall down. He is managing the stairs, but he might stay in bed some today.
So today is the bank, probably Starbucks, then maybe Dad's Bible study, then my horseback riding.
The goal for now is to get better at giving dad his morning pill. I added a phone alarm so that will help, but he doesn't have much of a morning routine. He gets up anywhere from seven to ten.
Have a great day, ladies! May you all be happy, healthy, safe and free!

Yes ... 10 years and a lot of life and emotions. We really lived our vows there: "for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health ...". Even though it's empty, as I walked through today, I could "see" everything there.
We have both shed tears in the past few weeks.
BUT ...
We also feel relieved today because we don't need to drive out there to work on our former house anymore!
Aside from the weekend in Perth before our train adventure, we have spent every weekend for months travelling back and forth and back and forth between houses. 80 minutes per trip, at least 2 times a weekend, and up to about 5 or 6 times.
This weekend, we could just stay home all weekend if we want to!! We haven't decided what to do, but that is an option!
And since there is still a lot of unpacking to do, staying home all weekend might be a good idea.
I have most of my clothes unpacked, but I haven't unpacked any of my jewellery yet, so I've been wearing the same earrings for weeks. Today I had a bit of a look for the charge cord for one of my laptops, but nope ... did not come across it. We've got bins and boxes and bags stacked everywhere!
The idea of finally setting up our new home is exciting.

(((Mo))) So hard when loved ones have cancer! I had a sister and husband who died of cancer. Perhaps that is why I have changed my diet and learned all I can on the gut and how it can affect my health.
I had a good chat with my friend from our east. We set up to call one another every two weeks. She told me the story of her husband's aunt who was diagnosed with extreme anemia. The doctor wanted to start her on all kinds of drugs. She refused and told the doctor she was going to treat it with diet. She ate super amount of dark greens like collard...spinach. Her anemia went away. I told my friend I need to hear more stories like this. The diet cannot cure everything but it can go a long way to improving whatever condition you are living with. My new mantra Protect the liver (lower insulin if it is high) and feed the gut (add more good fiber to my diet).
I am allowing myself some chocolate on my diet. (Dark with more than 50% cocoa)I have learned I have to watch out for if lecithin is on the label. It is an emulsifier (not the best for the gut). I have found a brand that is lecithin free. As much as I like the brand with lecithin I will no longer buy it in the future. I will also look for at least 70% cocoa because it means less sugar in the brand.6 -
Went to doc yesterday and got antibiotics for the sinus infection. My left ear/gland is still sore but the nose is draining now, so heading the right way. I had a doctor at the clinic that I think was either on drugs or brand new. He walked into the room and just stood there! I had to start the conversation by introducing myself and putting my hand out to shake! He did one of those fingertip handshakes which really turns me off. I had to keep prodding him to get anything from him. He was useless!! At least he gave me the antibiotics. He was supposed to give me some anti fungal too, but he forgot it. I hope no one goes to this guy who is very sick with something he has to think about!! I was disgusted. Plus, my DH went to this same clinic last week and didn’t have a co-pay. We have the exact same insurance and they charged me a $40 co-pay I wasn’t prepared for! Sheesh!!
Got home and DH had made chicken pot pie for us with biscuits on top and no crust on the bottom. No flour or eggs used. Individual servings. It was really good! I had an orange for dessert. I then took a nap. Felling a bit better today.

Major accomplishment today...I was able to bend my knee and cut my toenails.
Annie ~ Glad you got your Dad's car running and in good shape.
Machka ~ Enjoy your weekend in the house with no commute to the rental.
Monique ~ What breed of pup is Rose? I finally figured out that Rose was a dog and not a child that you were taking to sitter.
Margaret ~ Your diet changes are inspiring! Yesterday, I had a bowl of ice cream and quickly learned that my tummy did not like it. I really need to include more vegetables and fiber in our diet. Both DH and I love our carbs and need to change that.
Rita ~ Glad you got meds for your sinus infection. I love chicken pot pie.

Tracey – I totally can see telling someone you love them – but in front of everyone? And I totally can see texting if you have a specific reason, but just to say where you are when you have someone else in the car? I can see texting when you are alone.
Heather – woo hoo! Those firsts keep adding up. I like to throw things in the Salvation Army box that I no longer like, don’t fit real well, I won’t wear unless I absolutely HAVE to, things like that. Then, when I get a fair amount, I donate them. At the rate you’re going, you’ll be dancing in no time
Well, I’m going in the pool, then we have a conference call with our financial advisor (semi-annual), then Vince wants to cut the weeds (aka lawn)
Lanette – I find Avia and Ryka brands of sneakers to be most comfortable. I need sneakers that are wide at the front
Lisa – I say “I love you” to Vince when I leave to go somewhere, regardless of where. But constantly???? Every few minutes?????
Still no oven. Like I said, LG appliances are good when they work. But the customer service!
Vicki – I’m glad to see that you are taking care of that rash
Rita – hope the clinic can help you. What’s up?
Did I tell you I had an eye procedure yesterday? A selective laser something (long word). I just have to use these drops for a week four times/day. It was to relieve some of the pressure in my one eye. The doc says that I don’t have any restrictions on activities, but Dr. Google said to avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours. Some of the things they called strenuous made me go “huh?”. But I would feel comfortable not doing anything real strenuous for at least 24 hours. Brought my sunglasses up so I’ll wear them while we’re cutting the weeds
Debbie – talk about a house being wired weird! We’ve lived here almost 16 years and there is one switch that we haven’t figured out what it goes to
Barbara – get well fast. Those summer colds can really be nasty
M – congrats on the move
Lisa – boo for vertigo
Yea Carol!!
Just finished our conference call, went in the pool for a bit, now to cut the weeds

Carol - Congratulations on the toenail cutting. I haven't managed mine yet, and they need it!
John has got his heat pad down from the upstairs room where I was using it before my first op. And I bought him some longer lasting ibuprofen. He had some shortbread biscuits with it.
My bruv was up in London today with DSIL. I imagine it's some kind of last jaunt before treatment starts on Monday.
G was also up in London, watching The Mousetrap. Her sister kept falling asleep and missed the denouement. I haven't seen it, but read it quite recently and guessed the villain straight away. But I guess it's quite different on the stage.
Inspired by Lisa, I did some quick calorie calculations today. I reckon I ate around 2,000 calories, and probably burned off around 1500 at most. That explains it!
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

How do you like mr faker pretending to sleep.. stopped over there this afternoon Miles was so funny..
Had a lovely mani/pedi today.. and had a nap..7 -
I am feeling so bushed, don't want to go for my walk.
Jess is coming tomorrow so "she can go swimming". After the soup kitchen, I need to go to WalMart to get hamburgers for dinner. Maybe I should clean out the spa now, otherwise I have to do it tomorrow. Just not sure what time she'll be here, I would ASSUME after work but you never know.

Today’s gratitude: warm, dry, safe place to sleep while I get over this cold.
Allie thought of you and your Alfie this afternoon when I turned on the Westminster Kennel Club broadcast. Moochie barked and pounced on the TV, knocking over Joe’s clock. He got Shadow and Tumble barking too. I don’t remember them ever paying any attention to the TV images before, though Tumble has perked up her ears at animal sounds. More opportunity to work on Moochie’s impulse control ;} BTW, Happy Birthday, Alfie!
Lisa can you perform the Epley manouver by yourself or does Corey help? ((hugs))
Annie so glad to hear you’re able to return to horseback riding. You’ve made great strides with the car, too!
Carol con VERY gratulations on the knee bending progress!!!
Michele which “strenuous” exercises made you go “huh?” Inquiring minds want to know ;}
Machka hope of all the mixed emotions, relief and hopefulness are in the top tiers.
Yesterday I couldn’t stop eating, was amazed to see the scale down a bit this morning. Today, nothing appeals. Bet tomorrow the scale bulges up. SMH.
Later, lighter, lovelies!

Heather - Yeah, I clocked in at 1985 calories, and Fitbit says I burned 1482 calories, not the direction I need to be going in. But... as noted, I'm just in the business of logging this week. No self-lectures, just seeing what's going in and what's going out. I'll find that equilibrium or deficit when I'm ready... I just need to own my eating right now. Been lying to myself for a while, time to stop.
Barbara AHMOD - I don't know that I've ever even told him about the Epley maneuver, much less asked for help! 😁👀🤣 He's a born skeptic, and watching that eyebrow go up makes me want to smack him sometimes. I know it's worked for me, and that there's a scientific basis, but sometimes it does take repeating. Vertigo's still there, but I'm working around it. Just trying to make no sudden moves of my head and no standing up quickly. Looking up quickly makes my eyeballs wobble worst... Still, I was able to get 10 minutes in on the elliptical this morning.
Carol - Well done on the bending! Progress in healing is such a wonderful thing... and small triumphs are still wins.
Michele - Just can't find it in me to criticize people for saying "I love you," no matter where, when, or how many times they say it, and if someone else is listening. There isn't enough love in the world these days as it is.
Falling asleep, headed for la-la land. Two full nights of sleep has been wonderful, hopefully another one in store.
Love y'all,

My husband and I tell each other we love each other quite frequently ... privately and in public ... both verbally and with a little gesture of affection we've adopted early on in our marriage. We've also got ornaments with the word "Love" around our place.
I burst into tears the first time after my husband's accident when he used our gesture because I knew it meant he remembered me.
We also text and email each other throughout the day, especially if we're on the move. So he'll text me when he is at the bus stop, when he is on the bus, and so on when he comes into the city ... and I'll text him at different stages of my journey home.
Even though communication is different since his accident and sometimes more difficult now, we communicate a lot. And since our relationship started as a long-distance relationship (for the first 4 years or so, including the first year of our marriage), we often write to each other ... texts, emails, notes.
I think it's wonderful when couples, even older couples, show each other affection. My parents and grandparents did ... so I grew up around it.LisaInArkansas wrote: »Michele - Just can't find it in me to criticize people for saying "I love you," no matter where, when, or how many times they say it, and if someone else is listening. I agree!
I would much rather hear people tell each other they love each other than a lot of the other things I hear when I'm out and about.

Hello everyone. Today is Rose's Birthday, and she had a party at her doggie daycare. They gave her a giraffe and played wildly with it when we got home. It was a "Bark to School" day party. She probably thought it was for her. She is exhausted now. I took a nap today and did the laundry. I need to unload the dishwasher tomorrow. I had the energy to work out. I did step aerobics, but I was careful with my foot. It felt better, and the orthotic is starting to feel good. So, I closed all of my exercise rings today. I need to eat more protein. If I have any energy, I will make a protein shake to improve my numbers. I need the protein to help my hair from thinning again.
I enjoyed all three cups of tea. I am a tea drinker, more so than coffee. When Rose is gone, I enjoy life's simpler things. I didn't craft, but I read some and spoke to my husband three times. Then, my friend from Chicago. Both of her parents are gone, but her older sister made her POA, and she had a stroke. So, I was advising about skilled care facilities and how it is hard to get a consistent nurse. Her sister stopped talking and could no longer walk. Her other sisters don't want her in a facility but don't have time to help. Here, I thought being in a large family was more manageable than being an only child. I guess not. Too many cooks in the kitchen. I have to talk it out with my aunts about my mom. My DH has been the most significant help.
Lisa- do you usually get vertigo? Make sure you do not have an inner ear infection. I wouldn't say I like it when the room spins. You may need to take it slow.
My dad had cardiomyopathy and ended up having a stroke and dying. Cardiac disease, diabetes, Cancer, and Asthma run in the family.
Machka—My DH says where I am living is not home, but when you have lived somewhere for over a decade, it is so important to say goodbye to the house that holds all of your memories. It is like the Beatle's song "Yesterday".
Allie, please Give Alfie a birthday hug. My childhood dog was named Alphie, and he was a black-and-white Old English Sheepdog. Is it the 14th or 15th? Rose's is on the 15th.
Terri- Sleep hygiene is so important. I used to feel guilty for napping, but now I don't. It gave me the energy to exercise.
Bye, ladies; I will be starting my work stretch tomorrow. So, I wish you all a wonderful weekend.
Adios,
Monique

Carol- great accomplishment!!
Well, finally happened. Mom gave the room mate her eviction letter and the woman threw a FIT- even though mom told her a month ago that she needed to move out. She has to be out by 8/31- two weeks and she will be gone. After 2 1/2 yrs of living there for free, taking over, letting her huge dog(large choc. lab) poop where ever around the yard and not picking it up, telling mom what she could and couldn't do- It is finally going to be over.
now if we can just get the drama with MIL and DH handled.
They did have an interview with the agency to get some help(more like companionship-someone she can complain to about dh and I- she can do everything around the house for herself if she chooses to but usually expects dh to do it-they can help with that too)
We are taking her to San Francisco to the Japanese consulate on Thursday to get some paperwork taken care of so she can get the inheritance from her brother. The bank over in Okinawa is requesting it. He already told her she needs to be quiet and be nice to me. No yelling this time(she was very mean/rude to him when he had to take her two years ago-calling him chicken *kitten* very loudly because they took the ferry instead of driving in the city. We are going on Saturday for a dry run, to see exactly where the parking is, closest to the building we need to go to.
Walked the wetlands- just the short route- was cutting it a bit too close on time. I will go earlier tomorrow to do the whole walk
Aqua zumba tomorrow night.
