RE: Shock of seeing your mother in your reflection.
This first happened to me a couple weeks ago. We had a picture of the prison graduating class taken, and a professor, our donor partner, and I were in the picture with the guys. One of them texted the picture to me a few days afterwards, and I did a double take. I looked exactly like my mother. I don't know if it was comforting or alarming.
We have a picture of my great grandmother, she and I have always looked alike, apparently. When my mom was showing it to some of her friends, they said, "Oh, when did Flea get a vintage picture taken."
Somewhat related: The graduation was videotaped, and I watched the video and was shocked to see how old and frail I looked. To provide full context, the platform was very unstable, so when I walked up the stairs, I kind of faltered, and someone grabbed my hand to help me up, then one of the students took my hand on my way back down the stairs. In my robe, I looked about a 100 years old!!!
If you want to see a short video of our accomplishment, this is three minutes long. There's some religious talk in it, so I've put the link in the spoiler.
My mother's estate is finally closed. I will be distributing funds in the next few days. I was overwhelmed by emotion when the attorney's office let me know. It has been 21 months since she died. It seems like this has taken forever, but there was a lot to do to get the house ready to sell, and then it was on the market for a while, and then my niece was being a brat. But it is finally nearly over. I am so relieved.

Tracey ~ I was just thinking about your desire to have an office in a more private area and hope that you will find a space you like. Before I started teaching, I had a job with an insurance agency where I had to add all the agents sales so they could be paid. I quit that job because I hated being shut up in an office alone all day with no one to chat with. After that I worked as a secretary/typist for another insurance company and was out in the open. That was better. And finally, after I started teaching, I enjoyed being able to chat with the other teachers on my team/building. Realizing this, i have always thought of myself as being an introvert but guess there is a part of me that isn't.
Sorry if this was too much information! I'm becoming a mag-pie!

Greetings lovelies.
Cold got me down, have been skimming but not taking notes.
Belated welcome @ColleenWestico!
Will catch up later, maybe, but wanted to share this calculator. I’m 74 and it says I could live to be 90, it was a little lift to my spirits.

I’m with Lanette, quickly, in my sleep with no pain, please God.
I’ve also been missing Ginny and Beth and KJ. Good to see Kim popping in.

Heather - I am going to wait until I have given it a chance and give her a chance to think it all through before I express anything. I will see how it goes.
Today I was in a back office, closet size, that is connected to a rec area. They had a music program going for a while so I listened to some piano and singing while taking lots of training. The problem is they just don’t have the physical space the building is old and they have more staff now that requires offices than when it was built.
A lot of the training is repetitious for me but it must be done and I’m being paid so I’ll do it, I probably won’t start “doing the job” until next week.
I think we all think about our aging from time to time. I agree though, if my body could only feel like my mind does.
Rosemarie - Sephora makeup is so incredibly expensive. My daughters used to ask for it for Christmas gifts. I can’t say the last time I even wore makeup. I am thinking I might a bit again here as the other ladies are. We’ll see how it goes.
Annie - I imagine there is some kind of alarm that could put in place on the doors that could ring on a device you could carry with you. At the nursing homes there are alarms that can be placed on the back of a wheelchair, a cord is then clipped onto the back of the residents shirt. It’s to alert the staff that the resident has decided to try to stand on their own, or has leaned to far forward and is at risk of falling out of their chair. We also used it on a door one time that couldn’t be locked but we needed to know when the door was opened. It would give you more freedom in the house. He may still get out but couldn’t get very far without your knowledge. I’m not sure what it’s called, but there must be something to give you a little peace.
Kylia - thank you for sharing your values.
You seem calmer than you were a few months ago, I hope that means that things aren’t as stressful.
Lisa - woohoo for a good nights rest!
I lived close enough before but we only had a half hour lunch. Now I can take an hour and that makes a difference. I think that this facility also encourages people to take their lunch by getting out, not eating at your desk, etc. the administrator sees that it’s good for our mental health.
I have curly hair and it gets very frizzy, very easily, I bought some sleek n shine Aragon oil that I put on when it’s wet and it’s helping a lot. I washed my hair yesterday and scrunched it, today I just finger combed it, tomorrow I’ll probably straighten it or put it up. I don’t wash it daily anymore and that has made a huge difference as well.
Heather - beautiful flowers but they do look cumbersome! I’m glad it all worked out and you were able to have a nap.
Lanette - I keep praying that I take after my maternal grandmother. She lived until 95 and in her book was probably about 3 years too long, but because she had to start using a walker and even the hearing aids didn’t help a lot, but her mind was sharp.
I feel like I’m going to be a young widow. Rodger’s lung test told revealed that his lungs were those of a 68 year old, then last month he was told his bloodwork numbers were good for an 83 year old. I can’t make him quit smoking and I can’t make him stop eating what he wants. I’ve decided to stop trying. He will be 60 in January and if he doesn’t care what that will do to his family I have to just do what I can to be prepared for it.
I have started making friends and doing things on my own for the last few years, I know he doesn’t understand it, but I can’t just sit at home and do nothing.
Flea - I bet you will feel so relieved to have the estate settled.
I watched the video - that’s amazing and inspiring. How many graduated and what did they get their degree in?
Carol - I too like being around people more so than being alone and hidden away, but I do need it a bit quieter than I think this will be. We’ll see I may actually really love it.
I don’t have a lot to say today that I haven’t already said. 5 of us went for lunch today at the administrator’s invitation. It was a nice way to get to know some coworkers. They are lovely.
On the home front it wasn’t the best day, had an unexpected bill pop up, it was payday so I was able to cover it, but now I need payday again tomorrow. 😂. I’ll be so happy when we’re not this close to the edge.
I hope everyone has a great day tomorrow!

Tracey -- 18 students graduated. They have a BS in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in psychology, social service, and leadership. They are already doing amazing work within the prison system, hoping to change culture. We have 55 guys still in the program. It is the thing I've done that I am most proud of. Working with that population is challenging but very rewarding.

Hi ladies, I am back. I finally recovered from my work weekend. We had many toddlers, and they were screaming and crying. My blue-eyed cherub I found passed out in her exer-saucer with Miss Rachel singing and snot running down her cheek. I think she has a cold. She was so cute anyway. My patient wasn't too happy with golden curls everywhere. She had her tonsils and Adenoids removed and tubes placed in her ears. I gave her Tylenol and Motrin around the clock. We sent her home Saturday, and she came back Sunday, throwing up and not eating. Then, I had a baby that was sick with an upper respiratory infection. So, we had to give him more oxygen. The ER was full of sick babies and toddlers.
Then we had a 13-year-old who drank a whole bottle of whiskey. I told the new nurse to pad the bed before he came up. He is going to be sick. She didn't listen to me and had to change his bed. Her preceptor told her when a seasoned nurse gives advice, she needs to follow it. So she didn't get any help. I would have helped her, but I was busy calming my two toddlers and my baby, who needed to be placed back on oxygen. The funeral for the four-year-old that I cared for was beautiful. It was short and sweet. They polished her fingernails and dressed her in a white frilly dress. She looked like an angel. May she rest in peace.
Tracey- I wish you joy in your new job. I love the work that you have done on that table. You are so multi-talented; I know you will succeed.
Rosemarie- I went to Ulta and Sephora once and felt overstimulated. I ordered from Thrive and was thinking about trying the Jones Foundation, but I didn't know where to start. I purchased my foundation from Target. I love Laura Gellar's foundation, but I only buy it on a special occasion. I am an annual member of Fab Fit Fun, so I get to try serums and foundations. When I was younger, they did my makeup, and I looked like a mud monster. The foundation was too dark. I instead do my own.
Lisa- I am so glad you got some much-needed rest. Sleep helps you heal your mind and body.
Lanette- I decided not to worry about whether or not I will have Alzheimer's like my mom and grandma. It will depress me. That is why I am trying to be healthy and exercise my body and brain by doing puzzles and crafts. My dad had a heart condition, and that is why he was in the hospital and, on top of that, breast cancer. So, none of that is good. My cousin drinks like a fish that runs in the family as well. My generation of cousins committed our lives to service. I am the nurse, and the guys are police and firemen. The cousin who drinks like a fish was in the Navy and was a detective for the LAPD. His mom has dementia and had a double bypass surgery. So, you never know. We should enjoy life while we can.
Heather, I love the stained glass windows on your doors. I find quiet places soothing and loud places stressful. I am a loner, too. I don't know if it is because I am an only child or what. So, I schedule monthly gatherings with my friends. I am guarded with my time. I am so glad you saw your friends and had a great time. When I see my high school friends on Facebook, I can not believe how old they are. I was the youngest in my class, but who am I to judge? We are the same age. So, I found your comment humorous because I can relate to it.
Machka, I had a bad eating day on Monday and was over my calories by 200 on Tuesday. So, I had to remind myself I feel great wearing smaller clothes. Hopefully, I will be on track Wednesday. I moved my built-in bars into the garage freezer so I would not overeat them.
Allie, your grandson Miles is so cute, faking like sleeping. I hope your daughter appreciates your help with the baby and Miles. Remember to be good to yourself, too.
Pip- you are amazing! I hope to be like you with all of those stats. Is the little girl in the picture your granddaughter? Did Kirby make it home safely?
I had better go and see if I had the energy to move my body before going to bed. I missed going to the Move and Groove this evening. Maybe next time. I am taking a break from the pool to allow my hair to recoup from the chorine. I will be back in the pool next week. Have an extraordinary Wednesday, ladies.
XOXO,
Monique

Machka: Thanks, I think I will try the Cancer Council and see what happens! I have tried Maybelline before but I went through it pretty quick
Monique: I have been looking at some of the Laura Geller products. They do have sales. I do think probably the worst thing you can do is go to Sephora! But I got it out of my system. They did introduce me to the idea of doing something with my eye brows ...either using a pencil or dying them.
IT is 3 am and I slept well but then woke up. I did the age predictor quiz and came out at 91 which I was rather surprised it was that high. Yesterday I walked with 2 ladies and I could keep their pace for 3000 steps but when they said they were going to do another 3000 I bowed out. That will be a goal..to do 6000 steps at their pace!
I am hungry which is probably why I am awake. Nothing in the fridge interests me. I might make a little pop corn.
My friend is in the hospital with pneumonia. i am worried about her. I have lunch with her every Saturday and if she goes to a nursing home I will still visit her but it will not be the same.
I am going to try some of the Pilates equipment today. This is expensive but I want to get it out of my system. Then I will probably do Pilates at home with the yoga!
I still need to look into My Plate. I have one more month of Nutrisystem and then on to My Plate.
I didn't take notes but will tomorrow. Wishing everyone the best!
Best,
Rosemarie from Georgia

Morning, my chicks,
Yesterday after I spoke to y'all, my gut went completely south, more pain and more bleeding than I've had in years. Explanations would be waayy TMI. Got on the phone to the gastroenterologist's office, and got some advice from them. The second I got back from the eye doctor, fell into bed and stayed there until almost one a.m. this morning. Got up only to go to the bathroom and get right back in bed.
Things are moving (pardon the pun) better this morning, but as Allie says, I'm going to lie low today. A cup of yogurt yesterday morning and a few crackers at 1a.m. today have been all I could get in me. We'll see how I feel as today goes on. Might yet go back to bed for a few more hours. All the days can't be good, but this one kinda snuck up on me, the distraction of the eye doctor appointment, I think.
Lanette - I went through the life expectancy thing and got 89, and then fed Corey's info in there and got 77 for him. If that's reasonably true, then he's going to croak over in 2046, and I'll go in 2049. I've always figured we'd go pretty close together, barring an accident.
Tracey - Corey quit smoking when I did, thank goodness. I don't think he would have quit for himself alone. He quit hard liquor nearly eight years ago now, and that was for me, too. It's the beer that cranks his life expectancy down. Still can't get him to go to the doctor, and in all reality, he doesn't like it when I go. I just pay no attention. They are weird creatures. Thanks for the tip on the Argan oil - I added it to the order of things that I was supposed to shop for yesterday and just didn't get there. Will get a delivery in this morning.
Monique - I can see why you need days to recover from your work weekend! Many props for how you get through those days. Gotta love the new nurse. Some people have to learn the hard way, I guess. 🤷🏼♀️
Flea - I think what you're doing is admirable beyond words, educating the prisoner population in Oregon.
Tired and headachy, and can't decide which I need more - food or more sleep! 👀🤪

Ha! My Dad's projected longevity is 102!
But Alzheimer's changes that. Something like five years past diagnosis if the diagnosis is after 85, so that would put him at 95.
Which would be lovely as long as he is somewhat lucid and can stay at home. Yesterday he walked out of the adult day care again. He didn't leave the building, because I got there, and other people were just noticing. Someday he will try to
walk home. I'm afraid he will get kicked out if he wanders. I couldn't care for him without that class which allows me to get groceries, get out of the house, and get errands done.
My dad woke me up at four am and my dog woke me up twice last night. Teddy has a bad heart murmur, and now he has a suspicious cough. He sees the vet on Friday. The vet has already said to go to a canine cardiologist but it's too expensive and too far. Teddy might not make it to Christmas. He is fourteen. So sad. But he is a happy dog. He still goes up the stairs and jumps on the couch just fine.
Well back to bed for me. See you all later.

We, ((or rather John) have got Max for a couple of hours today. Teenage boys are harder to entertain. I think we will chat for a bit, and then John might walk the seafront with him in the direction of home. It appears that he now has a Nokia phone, with no Smartphone facility. I guess his mother has put her foot down as he was using it too much and not obeying restrictions. As a psychologist, she is well aware of the harm these things can do. Edie said she probably wouldn't be allowed one for a while because Max was abusing the privilege.
As a family, they have restrictions on online and TV time. It's the first thing to be taken away if they behave badly.
My son rang me last night. He always starts with blandishments, but I always call him out, because he only rings me when he wants something. I said, "Why are you ringing?" He said, "I want to know how you are." I said, "I'm fine, what's the real reason?" It turned out he wanted us to host the whole family for tea/dinner on Friday as they have no kitchen with the floor being levelled. So that's fine. It will run on from having the girls.
I think I will do a 'help yourself' meal and poach a chicken in the IP, have cold meats, cheese, hummus, maybe falafel, salad etc. Bea won't be happy, but she will be able to find something. Two of them being gluten free does restrict options a bit, but I have gluten free pittas. Ice cream for dessert with berries. Sorted!
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Good morning all:
I have not completely fallen off the face of the earth-just very busy and got another stupid cold/sinus infection. Started antibiotic and feel much better this am (slept well last night).
Retirement thinkingReceived security deposit back from first retirement place. I haven't shut the door on that place but it has me reviewing other options. I am thinking (with my stupid leg issue which is showing slow progress) and getting sick that when I make my move it might be better to go ahead and get in a place that is independent but has some assisted living stuff. There are several of those. My son who I live closest to has a 9 month old and they are hoping for baby #2 so I don't want to count on them for daily assistance if I would need it. Am in process of selecting new assistant director so am on track to retire first part of next year. I can go anytime I want but that allows for transition time. Lots to consider! But since the longevity test projects me living to 100, I guess I have time!
Just a couple of notes (I can't catch up on everything)
Barbie-good to hear things are settling with Jake.
Tracey-congratulations on new job.
Betsey-nice to see you back from Alaska. Work colleague is leaving for cruise there today. Have always wanted to see it.
Annie-you seem to being a good job with your dad-it is a difficult situation. I like your thoughtful approach.
Heather-I didn't realize you have had posterior hip replacements. Both of mine are anterior, which seems to be very popular here.
Will chat more later. Even in busy times I think of you all!
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio

Good Wednesday!
Years ago I learned not to ask for patience because then situations occurred for me to learn it. Yesterday I was working on time management.....wouldn't you know we were busier than we have been in weeks with only me for counter! Time management is definitely more challenging when you have foot traffic and phones! Did get quite a bit accomplished though.
SIL'S surgery went well. Now if she will just be an adult and follow doctor's orders.
Tracey Thank you. Still same situations that make things stressful, but I do feel calmer. Maybe it is attitude, maybe it is getting away, maybe the cpap is contributing.....not sure, but generally feel calmer. Most of the training I have to do for work is repetitive but occasionally I do learn something new. There has been a time or two that I wonder if the instructor has ever worked in a mower shop!
Lisa So sorry yesterday was a bad one!It does suck when they attack out of the blue.
Flea What inspiring work! All of you Ladies inspire me to be a better me.
Monique Wow! I admire you and any nurse especially that work with children in such caring and loving ways.
Annie I too think you are doing an amazing job with your dad. Keep an open mind on gadgets to assist as Tracey suggested. The adult day care I worked at would sound alarm if front or back door opened without a code. There were side doors that opened to a fenced in area so the participants could go out there. I remember my initial mind struggle as they often acted like toddlers, but needed to be still treated with respect of an adult. Sorry to hear about fur baby. Hugs!
Ginny Good to hear from you. Your planning amazes me. I really am in limbo as to what will happen with shop in next 4 years. Then there is keeping DH active enough to not drive me bonkers when bored.
Speaking of DH....he apilled his coffee on his work bench the other morning. His laptop is now at computer shop. The worst part is he can't play on ebay so wants lots of attention! LOL!
I need to get a couple of things done so better get off here.
Encouraging you to do the best you can do today!
Hugs to all because life is hard!

OH! I found my DH's missing heart trinket from our wedding this past weekend!!!! YAY!! Good thing he wanted to work in attic! He ran speaker wires in garages while I was in SC. Rosemarie - thank you! I did call for a quote last year and was quoted $1000. In the end I’m so glad I did it myself. As I was sanding and working on it I thought it was pretty cool that the only people to work on it was my great grandfather, my dad and I.
I had a great first day. Everyone seems so pleasant and helpful. When I was off with a couple of staff members alone they told me how much they enjoyed working there rather than to run like the old place. 😂
Well I’m off to bed. I’m very sleepy tonight.

I fully expect to end up alone.
That's one of the reasons I've already started to ease our way into "independent living". We now live in a one-level house with a relatively flat yard and with relatively accessible walking and cycling. We've also gotten rid of a bunch of stuff that I didn't want to have to deal with later.
I have no illusions that we'll stay here for "the rest of our lives". I fully expect we'll downsize again and move into something that's even easier to take care of.
When I am on my own, I can envision moving into an apartment again, heading toward assisted living.
Working on the table and your day are both wonderful!

Flea Yay for estate progress! I have chores to do to get my Dad's estate under the limit for probate. You are inspiring me! And your prison work is wonderful!
Kylia glad you feel calm.
Tracey I do have a very loud alarm on the front door. The problem is that he goes out at night to get the paper and put the flag up. So it wakes me up at four am or whenever. I still don't think I would hear it in the basement with the music going. But there might be a better place for the ringer. I'll have to think about that.
Ginny sorry you got sick. Get well soon!
Lisa sorry you had a bad day. Hope it has settled by now.
I'm taking Dad to Dairy Queen today to use a gift card. He will be happy. My diet will be challenged.
I weighed myself this morning. Not good. I have to stop feeling sorry for myself and start eating better!
Have a fabulous day! May you all be happy, healthy, safe and free!

If I start feeling a little queasy an hour or so before my designated eating time, I drink a glass of water. Like Kim, sometimes thirst disguises itself as hunger. If that doesn't help, I'll go for a sugar-free peppermint.

I've got bamboo sheets and pillow cases that are supposed to be nice and cool ... I've yet to put them on the bed.
I've been looking for cool sheets and other cooling things at night. So the books are on Servant Leadership skills. As I said the first chapter questions are things I have never been asked. I have included in spoiler my answers to the questions. My sister has said she will give me feedback as she can. She has a demanding and changing job. Hoping she can help with insights.Do I have a purpose? This was hard as no one has ever asked me this question. After much thinking, I have decided that I do have a purpose. My purpose is to help people feel they have been seen and heard. Examples- doing family daycare for the harder to place families such as 2nd and 3rd shift workers or families with two children under the age of 3. Asking someone how they are today and listening to their answer. Sometimes they elaborate and others are okay with a simple answer.
Do I know my values? Again, not something I have been asked before.
Honesty- sharing to the best of my knowledge information that I can
Hard work- A willingness to put in the labor necessary to accomplish a task.
Learning- Wanting to learn something new every day.
Respect- There are many different opinions and perspectives in the world, I try to listen respectfully even if I don’t agree with those views.
Independence- Being able to think for myself and using the other values I have to seek assistance.
I communicate my purpose and values by example. I tell others what my expectations are in work situations.
I champion my purpose and values by living them.
I live my purpose by paying attention to people around me. I encourage people to learn for themselves. I believe in honestly billing people for work done and letting them know what the situation entails. I give people a chance to make their own decisions, while remaining available to assist them.
I need to improve my ability to let others learn things and to encourage them when they are learning the processes. I need to improve my time management skills in relation to paperwork and learning.
For my team, I must consider my whole work system. We are a small business with two owners, and I am married to one of them. We have two full-time employees and one part-time employee. This is seen from my perspective.
The purpose of our business is to make money while providing sales and services in a reputable fashion.
Does our business have values?
Fairness- Seeking to always be fair in our assessments
Quality- Providing quality in both equipment and services.
Education- Teaching people about their equipment helps in the long term success of both our business and their equipment.
We communicate the business values with the way customers are treated. When people come in they are greeted with respect, quality is explained, and we listen to their wants and needs to educate them on equipment.
I am the one who champions the business purpose with the team.
Our “team” champions our purpose by providing quality service and asking questions as needed.
Our team needs to improve on changes that are made to make things run smoother. Our team needs to improve on their views about education in both the equipment repairs and business aspects. Our team needs to improve on listening to and retrieving information from customers.
For these I had to give a rating of 1-10

U.S. life expectancy for women, at 76 years, gives me another 12 years, and neither of my parents lived past that, so I'm figuring on at least that much. Interestingly enough, the older you are, the longer your life expectancy. According to one site, because I've lived to 64, I will live to 84. So I tried tweaking it here and there, and it appears it just gives you either the US expectancy or 20 years more than your current age! 👀🤣😁 Whatever is left, I'm ust trying to live those years as engaged, happy and healthy as I can make them. It's enough.

Evidently the life expectancy for women here is somewhere in the 80s.
According to that life expectancy thing, I could make it to 93.

I would love being shut up in an office alone all day with no one to chat with!
But we have a semi open plan office. So I wear noise-cancelling headphones much of the day.

I hope everyone has a great day tomorrow!

I just picked up an indoor Google Nest camera, so far I'm really impressed. I think there's sound too, but I've got that turned off at the moment. Ah yes ... it does pick up sound too, and I can talk through it.
If we had it pointing at a door, and someone went through the door, I could set it up to send me a notification.Rosemarie2972 wrote: »Machka: Thanks, I think I will try the Cancer Council and see what happens! I have tried Maybelline before but I went through it pretty quick
I am going to try some of the Pilates equipment today. This is expensive but I want to get it out of my system. Then I will probably do Pilates at home with the yoga!

I use so little makeup - just a tiny skiff of foundation and if I've got a meeting or something, a dash of powder.
My husband and I did physiotherapist-led Pilates for a little over a year. He did it as part of his recovery and I did it along with him. It was really good!
We ended up getting a Pilates reformer which we will be setting up in our gym at some point in coming months.
Gardening, especially digging and weeding, etc., worked similar muscles as Pilates did.

mcmillonmail wrote: »Hi ladies, I am back.
XOXO,
Monique
Thanks for the compliment. The little girl is my sisters “granddaughter” the sister is the lady in the pic. She is her daughter’s husband’s kid from his first wife. Kirby and I never had kids. Kirby made it home fine, he had a great time. Next month is my turn, I will be going to Washington (federal way) to visit a friend for a few days.

Our wonderful daughter did another remarkable thing. She is a family counselor in California and she managed to find a connection to a woman in our town who is able to connect us with people who are available to give rides to medical appointments out of town. Now Jake has a list of people he can call when he needs a ride to his medical appointments out of town. For $25.00 an hour they will drive him to the appointment, wait until he is finished with the appointment and drive him home. Our daughter said she'd help pay if necessary but the money isn't the problem. we just didn't know who we could call after we used up all our friends.
I took the quiz and it says I'll live to 104.

Good Morning All,
I just wanted to say Prednisone is truly wonderful. My friend called from her hospital room this morning and sounds like a new person with much more energy! I am so pleased for her! And for me!

Max is here. He has such a deep voice now.
This morning he went for a 50k bike ride with his mum. So he was a little late getting over here, and his dad is picking him up in half an hour.
Here he is having a break on the ride.
When he arrived, he was a bit tired, so after a bit of polite conversation, he asked if he could sit and read for a while. I went up for a nap, but not before sending John off to buy a chicken from the local butcher to poach for Friday.

Lanette I listened to a talk on the microbiome...Interesting that nutrition wins out over your genes. A strong healthy microbiome wins everytime...With a healthy gut you are more likely to live a longer and more healthy life.
Now how does one achieve that. Lifestyle and diet...
They went over many things in the talk I listened to...As a place to start all of them were in agreement out getting more fiber in the diet...Minimum 25-35 grams. In the healthy guts from other places in the world they consume 100 grams of fiber a day!!!
A variety of plants is key too! Aiming for 30-40 different plants, herbs, spices in a week. One went on to say if you have that 30-40 you are more than likely to be in better health if it is less than five you are more than likely to have a health issue.
If like most people in US your consumption is low it is best to start out slow. The goal is to gradually increase this variety. I am up to that 30-40 different plants in my diet. It took 4 months for me but when I started I had at least 10-20 in a week so it went a bit faster for me.
I have lost 30 pounds now...155 today...I went to the dentist yesterday and the hygienist commented on how good I looked. How I look is a bonus what is even better is how good I feel. I had a good report on my teeth too! She loves to talk about these health issue too!
She liked my two ways of keeping on track. I said when I look at food I ask if the food really loves me. It loves me if it helps me feel and look good if not I will pass. Highly processed food full of additives, sugar, fat, salt is abusive. It is like the handsome charming man who comes into my life trying to convince me he is the one for me (Processed food is like that it tastes soo good it has to be good for me). When I strip off the charming mask of the processed food I see its true nature and how much harm it does to me.
I made myself a bouquet from my garden today...

The Social Security life span calculator has me living until 87.7 which I think is low because my mom is now 88. Her mom and my dad’s mom both lived to 92. We will see! They have my husband living until 85 but his mom died in her 30’s and his dad died at 72, so these calculators and just guesses!! Don’t get too into what they say! I tried the calculator that was linked to on here and I will live to 98, but scary for me, my DH will live to 72, that’s next year! All because he smokes and drinks. He turns 71 next week.
Dinner for me yesterday was chicken from Albertsons’s (grocery store) with a peach. Supper was more chicken, Brown Cow yogurt, celery for a veggie, then had a small bag of microwave popcorn. Not the best day but stayed within my calorie goal.
