@shubox1 I'm glad you are feeling better. I'm sure you will be able to get in the 30 miles this month.
Nice tribute @Scott6255 .
@AmunahSki Nice running and the ski lessons sound like they would be hard. Glad they weren't. I love the Silent disco idea. I'll bet that is a lot of fun. I would take that as a compliment too (dancing like 80s aerobics class).
You're doing great @WarmJellyfish . Nice that you have already exceeded your year goal!
@daria0919 Trying to maintain a streak does get you out for at least a mile when you wouldn't have done it otherwise. You're doing great.
I totally understand how you feel @Laurz9191 . You are doing great with your running and that brunch looks delicious.
Nice running @kgirlhart . I'm glad the weather is better at the moment.
@polskagirl01 I'm glad you posted here. I was going to PM you about @shanaber since I wasn't sure you knew yet. I did not get on Lose It, so can't help you there. I decided I just didn't have the time or energy to learn a knew app.
I am in for a group tribute too, but have no ideas. Does anyone recall what we/you did in the past. I know for @PastorVincent we ran/walked 26.2 miles since he was getting ready to run Boston and we did a random act of kindness in his name too.4 -

24.45/70 mile goal
I went to the gym this morning. Had another PR for the deadlift of 90 pounds.
When I got home, I went out for my long run that I missed on Sat. The weather was pretty perfect - hazy and 68F/20C and a slight breeze. The plan called for 10 min warm up, 5 mile run, 10 min cool down. I walked 6 min or the warm up and then wun the rest of the 10 min and the 5 miles and then walked the entire cool down plus just a little to make 6.4 miles. I decided to follow @scott255 s idea and get in 6.4 miles in tribute to @shanaber . I also hope to get 20 miles total for the week for her too (as @AlphaHowls is doing, but in one run).
I wasn't going for any speed records and decided that I'd just walk when I felt like it and run slowly, so was surprised at my overall pace and the splits when I was mostly running. Overall, the wun pace was 13:07 min/mile. Splits were 13:56 (this mile was done on the driveway), 12:29, 12:39, 13:14, and 13:13 min/mile. My avg HR was 131 with a max of 153 bpm.5 -

Glad to hear from you @eleanorhawkins even if under sad circumstances. I would be in for a group tribute too.0 -
Sept total: 34.9/115 miles
YTD: 709.7/1200 miles

Short pre-work run in the glorious low 60's. It's warming back up a little as Francine gets closer and brings the rain. It looks like we will avoid a direct hit from this one. Fingers crossed the tracking predictions hold.5 -
Did my usual Tuesday loop. It was a bit of a struggle as my legs were still tired from Sunday, but I took it slow and thought, Shana would give everything to be out here running, struggle or not, so I just kept going.7

See this is one reason I've been avoiding you guys... you make me want to go do something crazy 🤣 I'm over here trying to figure out how we can pay tribute to our friend, even though I'd probably not be able to participate. I feel like those 20 miles she was short on her last goal stick out, and there could be a theme including Hobbes in some way...5 -
Morning all.
Did my 6.4 for @shanaber
Got in 6.42 at 10"08.
( @Scott6255 how did we get to this 6.4 figure btw? Which page is this? Her Facebook?)
@polskagirl01 lovely to see you again. And @eleanorhawkins 😊😊
---
@Laurz9191 😋
@AmunahSki nice to meet you! I'm in Canada Water in SE London.
(Did a headphone party once... On a cruise ship... Was umm different).7 -
@martaindale I hope Francine stays away from you. Great running in the cooler weather. I guess Fall is in the air everywhere.
@ContraryMaryMary Nice job getting it done, even if a struggle. Shana is great motivation to keep going when you really don't feel like it.
Hahaha @polskagirl01 . Crazy isn't always bad. I hope you'll come back and "see" us more often. Keep thinking. We'll come up with something to do.
Nice run and tribute @tarun_yadavA .
2 -
Nice to hear from you again @polskagirl01!
@tarun_yadavA the 6.4k posts was from Shana's profile page. Just search for @shanaber and then choose Members in the filter.
Did 6.5 miles of goal pace intervals this morning. 15min WU/CD, 4x 5min race pace / 3min recovery.
I felt like my heart was going to burst out of my chest during the speed sessions. It wasn't really due to running. Felt more like anxiety. I think I need a rest day, or at least a vacation day from work 😉

Just getting caught up on reading posts and am devastated to hear about @shanaber. I had a feeling things were not going well when she posted her last post last month. She was such a fighter. She tried all the different treatments but the cancer was just too much. I'm going to miss her and the updates on Hobbes. I bet he is devastated also.5

22.77/50 miles for September5 -
@quilteryoyo if I remember right, we did a virtual Boston for @PastorVincent and I think a vigil with someone running for him somewhere over 24 hours for @MobyCarp. That one was great because we had lots of people in different time zones, not sure if it would work now...
Personally I'll be dedicating my next race to her and using it to raise funds for a cancer charity.
@polskagirl01 she would be touched at you wanting to do something crazy, but wouldn't want you to hurt yourself doing it. I think the flowers is a lovely tribute.
Also, I hadn't really had time to realise how much I missed you folks

Had a lazy day, followed by a rock hunting day. And today I got up earlier, drove to the far end of the island and hikes up the highest mountain (808m). 6.8km up, 6.3km down. Up took me 2.5hrs. On the way down I just loosened all breaks and 'rolled' down 😅 Went quite well overall, minus the last 1.5km which were suuuuper steep and I had to stop briefly every few steps.8 -

I hope everyone has had a great day! I have finished a mile for today. I struggled through it today but it's done.7

It was perfect running weather again this morning. 53°F with a dew point of 51°. I ran 6 miles. It was mostly uneventful, but I did see a couple of dogs out. I was almost home though and just turned a block earlier than I usually do.

Creeping back into the 70's this morning but the humidity is still lower so felt pretty nice.
I wasn't in clinic today which was a relief but still busy. Kid dr appointment, menu planning, house stuff and a meeting. Felt productive to check some stuff off my to do list.5 -
Sounds like a hard workout @Scott6255 ! I hope you are able to relax a bit and take a vacation day.
Nice @daria0919 .
Oh yeah @eleanorhawkins . I forgot about the 24 hour run for @MobyCarp .
Sounds like a great hike @yirara .
@shubox1 Way to hang in there and get it done!

27.25/70 mile goal 9.2/20 miles for Shana
Mom made me go to the gym today. I needed to go to town sometime today to pick up a cough medicine prescription. Mom said, "If you have to go to town anyway, you might as well go to the gym." I really couldn't argue with that logic, so got up early and went. Since I went today, I don't plan on going tomorrow.
When I got home, I went ahead and did my planned drill workout run on the driveway. I was a little bit slower today. The three cadence drills I caught were at paces of 9:06, 10:25, and 10:15 min/mile. My cadence got into the 190's today.
After a short rest, I went to mom's and we mowed her lawn. I did the riding part and then a little bit of the push mowing that mom couldn't do. I was planning on doing more, but the neighbor who also helps took over after he got the weed eating done. That's why it was only 6 min.
I did it. I signed up for the T-Minus 10 Miler on Cape Canaveral SFS Dec 14. Now I need to decide where to stay. I'm looking at Airbnb's again.9 -

Morning all
Got in 3.84M at 09"44.
In the office.
@quilteryoyo yayy RE: Cape Canaveral 10miler.
I thought of that recently the other day actually spookily. I watched this 'set in the 60s' Romcom with Channing Tatum and Scarlet Johanssen set there (about Apollo), and I thought that'd be a pretty cool route! And then you wrote about it.7 -
quilteryoyo wrote: »Oh yeah @eleanorhawkins . I forgot about the 24 hour run for @MobyCarp .
The format we've used for those has generally been to set up some kind of group where people can sign up for the time slots they want. I'd think running or walking would be appropriate for @shanaber
7 -
@tarun_yadavA You should hop on over across the pond and run it "with" me.4
-
Hello All,
I'm going to aim for 50 miles again this month but don't think I'll hit it. It's been a chaotic month with family and work stuff and isn't likely to change for another few weeks. I've not read any of the posts yet either but will hopefully catch up gradually.
05/09 4.05 miles
06/09 3.76 miles
07/08 3.68 miles
Total 11.49/ 50 miles6 -
@quilteryoyo T-Minus 10 Miler on Cape Canaveral SFS. This looks like a super cool race! If only I wasn't soooooo far away but at least I'm doing a local 20miler Dec 21. I'm seriously hoping it will not be -4F like last year....3
-
@Mari33a I hope you stress level goes down soon.
Wow @WarmJellyfish I would NOT try to run in -4F degrees, so I really hope it is warmer this year too. Come on down to the Cape and endure 85F instead.

I was lazy this morning and didn't get out the door until almost 11:30 am. It was only 73F/22.8C though, so wasn't too bad. I did a wun, but went fast enough to count the middle part as a run...at 4.2 mph avg pace. Avg HR was 120 with a max of 143 bpm.7 -

I ran 6.25 miles today. It was a little warmer today, but still very pleasant running weather at 61°F with a dew point of 51°. I felt really good running. It was one of those runs where you just kind of zone out and run.
@quilteryoyo I'm so glad you signed up!

Hi Everyone!
The weather here has gone cold. It rained off and on during the run. It was the first cold dark fall rain we’ve had this year - not that I’m complaining, I will “deal” with whatever weather I must- at least until the marathon . I did 15x 1 minute repeats with a ca. hour long easy warm up/cool down. The intervals were short but by the last one I was too tired to care about dodging the slugs - so I might have stepped on a few…oops. I ran 16.1km.
@quilteryoyo I’m also glad you signed up for your race and don’t have to miss out due to jury duty.
126.5/270ish kms for September.5
