The meeting of MDMD was great, as usual. I really enjoy the positive vibe of the people who attend.
I wore my new jeans, my Chanel jacket, gold earrings and gold tipped sneakers. I managed to buy my earplugs and, on the way home, called in a local shop for Breton Cider. John is making Cottage Pie for dinner, so that will go perfectly.
Chilly wind out, but my jacket was the perfect weight.
Getting there, bit by bit. I did arrive early at the meeting, because I needed to sit down.
Looking forward to a dinner I haven't cooked 😋

Monique - Scotch Eggs are hard boiled eggs, wrapped in sausage meat, and breadcrumbs. Then deep fried. The ones I get from Canhams have some chilli in the meat. Very traditional picnic food, but the supermarket ones are very dull by comparison. These are 'homemade'.

Thanks to everyone who provided information about painkillers. It seems it's a toss-up between not taking them when needed for chronic pain or taking them for a better quality of life yet risking side effects.
I've made an appointment with Dr. Lisa. I had all of the tests Machka mentioned when I herniated a disc L5/S1 thirty years ago and 2 prednisone packs which helped a lot. Dr. Lisa will determine if I need more tests and if so, which ones. Now that I made the appointment, watch it get better.
Tracey - I have lumbar supports, various pillows, memory foam seat cushions. I make it a point to sit tall and not hunch over when I'm at the laptop. I think my only solution is to get up and move/walk as much as possible. I think the computer monitor/tower/keyboard arrangement is more ergonomically friendly, with the monitors adjustable to eye level. I took the ones we had around here to recycle, they were so old. Not much memory, monitors super heavy, keyboards sticky. That set-up isn't very expensive these days but I'm done spending money on computers this year after buying the new laptop.
Lisa - glad you didn't face plant with that stumble. Good luck with the Farmer's Market!
Annie - falling/stumbling must be in the air. Glad your dad wasn't hurt. Nothing like that early morning fresh air.
Beth - I'm envious of your apple crop. Sorry to hear about your DH's back pain. My aches are very minor compared to what some folks go through.
Kim - your mom's wedding dress sounded gorgeous. Hope you can find it one of these days.
Heather - what a relief to have those trees cleaned up. Amazing how quickly they grow!
Carol - sounds like you are making great progress with that knee.
Mo - I love that you have more time now to tell us about yourself and your job. I've heard more than one doctor give all the credit to the nurses for keeping the hospitals running smoothly and the patients getting better. I know, some docs don't - but the smart ones do! Sorry you lost your father, it sounds like he was a very special guy.
Rita - again, a delicious looking meal. Crossing fingers your lab results are great. Dr. Matt told me to eat 2 or 3 ounces of nuts per day and I do. They do a great job keeping hunger pangs away, and provide healthy fat, protein and fiber. I love them all and eat a variety, but try to get at least an ounce of walnuts in.
I woke up to rain, so no morning walk so far except to take the hens a treat.
Make it a wonderful day, ladies!

Hidee ho ladies
Thanks for the recommendations Rita..went shopping for Doris this morning.. she came with..but i used her bags.. and I think they were musty or something because I had a massive sneezing fit after putting stuff in them and putting them in the car..now im all stuffed up..That and the change of seasons..always happens..have to get rid of it though if I want to be able to visit Tracy and the baby at the hospital..
Guns..my parents taught rifle shooting ,so I grew up with rifles in the house ,but we never messed with them, but were taught how to use them..I also have my pistol permit..but I let that laps.
Mo- Bless you.. the things you must see...
Im going to message the APRN and find out what she has to say about the bloodwork I got done yesterday.
Want to get down to the bottom of things before I go on this cruise.
Heather- sounds like you looked real smart dolled up for your jaunt..
I picked up Alfie after I dropped Doris off and her groceries..they just adore him and he gets spoiled rotten.5 -
This morning I drove to the pharmacy alone to pick up prescriptions for Jake. I felt free in the car with no dog and no "navigator". I listened to my music from my phone. On the way back I had a sudden recollection of stories from TV, the news, and novels of women with perfectly good lives who drove their children to school one morning and just kept going until they reached another town and got an apartment and a job and never looked back. One podcast I listen to called that "obliger rebellion" when someone just gets tired of doing for others and goes off where they don't have to answer to anyone. I didn't run away but I enjoyed the moments of freedom.
Allie, I hope you can get all your health challenges sorted out before the baby and the cruise.
Heather, Scotch eggs----yum yum.

Not looking forward to getting up at 4 am with husband Friday, to drive to Seattle for husband's yearly liver transplant appointment. Hopefully we can go somewhere nice for lunch off mainland.
Son is coming that day too, so we'll pick him up when he flies in. 💖
I will be watching my cousins dog for a week in October. I haven't actually seen her since 1995, when we had a family reunion at the Oregon coast. I guess her dog is 12 yrs old so he sleeps a lot of the time, might need help getting up there outside steps. They live a good 2 hours from Whidbey but we will meet them in Mt Vernon and then I'll go home with them until they fly out. Should be interesting! Honestly I am glad to help them.
I am doing well exercising most every morning. Yesterday there was a super long line to get on base so we just bypassed the entrance and decided to walk down by the marina, and the marsh there. A nice path, clean with signs showing the wildlife. We walked a good 30 minutes just like at the treamills, but with loads more to look at. It will be a nice option when traffic is just too bad. They must've had some security issues and the gate was delayed for some reason.
Not sure what I'm having today. I haven't really foraged yet but will when my eating window opens.
Feeling good about my IF journey. I know I will have some loss in weight and measurements because my clothes feel more comfortable.👍🏼
Hugs everyone!

Hello, my dears...
Interesting day. Still processing. Didn't place anything at the FM Direct, but had a really good conversation with the guy about what he's looking for. He's not putting up anything of the artisan at the moment, because he kinda got "rag-tagged" as he called it, on the last time he used his space for local artisans, like mainly tschotchkes and garage sale stuff. This time, somewhere near the end of October, he wants to orient it toward high-end gift givers. He liked what I had, just didn't want anything right now, and doesn't want seasonally oriented items.
So... I plan to do a number of hand-painted or quilted purses and bags - ones that can sell in the hundreds of dollars or even higher, rather than tens of dollars. I've sold a few before--my highest was to Corey's boss ten years ago, a $400 bag for his wife for a gift. I called it my "stained glass bag" and there were probably a thousand pieces of fabric in it by the time all was said and done. Image in the spoiler.
He seemed very open to me bringing in higher-end work, and it was a really good conversation. So, this puts me in a place where I'll be making very high-end market items for his artisan space, and my more relaxed and casual Christmas bits and gifts for the local market at the Christmas fair. Corey's only requirement is that I'm having fun, and I genuinely am. It feels GOOD to be in the swing of creating to contribute, with absolutely zero pressure to win the game. To be honing my talents instead of letting them die on the vine.
Buzzing with all the possibilities right now...
Later, mah babies,
Love,
Lisa in AR

Hi ladies, As you can see, I am a talker. I forgot to tell you that I went to the hand doctor on Monday at 4 p.m. and didn't get out until 6 p.m. I have a trigger finger in my right thumb and my left middle finger. Dr. Geisler is my hand doctor. He had to operate on my hand twice. I broke my hand running from a wasp, and I had a trigger finger in my right middle finger that reoccurred three times. So, he had to insert this long needle between my thumb and pointing finger to inject the steroid. So my hand was numb till noon on Tuesday on each side. On the left side, he stuck the needle in the center of my hand while they sprayed the numbing spray. I closed my eyes cause I didn't want to see it. So, my left finger feels better, but my right thumb continues to hurt and get locked in position. He says he will need to operate if it doesn't get better.:( I went to visit my mom and pay for her care and give her spending money for her field trips. She is happy and dancing at all of their parties. There is a little abandoned kitten that she loves there. The momma kitten just gave her to the place and left. It is so tiny but frisky.
I took Rose to day camp so the guy could do our yard in peace. We have a tropical storm headed our way, and the sky is pretty grey. Last night, I had a terrible headache that made the side of my face
numb. I took my meds and applied the plant guru headache relief, and I felt much better. I thought I would have to put my frozen mask on, but I didn't have to.
Heather, the scotch eggs look delicious. Do they serve them in restaurants in London? My son's passport is now here, and he is applying to study for one semester in London. I need to work on my passport now so my best friend and I can visit him. My DH will meet us there as well. I found a cottage to rent from
VRbo.
Allie, I hope you get better as well. Where are you cruising to?
Barbie, I am so glad you came back. I do know what you mean. This time, staying home alone is quite lovely, even though DH calls me constantly on my way to work and back home, off and on throughout the day. Barbie, that was a funny story. Thanks for the laugh.
It is hard to believe that it has been 23 years since the devastation of Sept. 11th. I remember being in the hospital as this happened. My doctor discharged me, but my baby had to stay cause he wasn't oxygenating well. I initially thought that they were new pilots who had made a catastrophic mistake, but when the second plane hit, I was in shock.
I hated leaving my baby in the hospital. I had postpartum blues. I got pregnant six times; the first time was twins, and I lost them one by one. I lost Alexandra at 21 weeks cause I caught an infection that a few of us nurses caught. I ended up being hospitalized for a month. They sent me home on bedrest. I started contracting cause I had no one to care for me while DH was at work. Then I was pregnant with Horace, and at 11 weeks, I started to bleed. Then, one doctor did an ultrasound and told me that I had lost him, too. Then I spoke to the fellow and told him about the fertility treatments and that this one was my last try. I was going to need a D and a C. He decided to do one more ultrasound, and DH finally made it by then. I told him that we were looking to see what happened to the baby and that we were going to have a D and C.
Then we saw something jumping around, and I asked if that was what killed my baby. He told me that was my baby and we were not going to have a D and C. I was on bed rest until the Cerclage. We were crying for joy.9 -

Lanette--I find the information you are sharing from you class is helpful. Thank you for sharing. And I agree it is a no brainer , but some of us (me) need reminders a lot. Cute cats playing on the tablet.
Katiebug--That is so sad about the shooting. I agree parents need to be held acountable when they give acess to guns. What a mess.
Heather--WOW! What a nice change.
Rita--Hugs for you and Brownie. Prayers for your mom and Brownie.
I am so glad it is Friday. Have a few plans for the weekend. Will see how tried I am if I do anything.
Blessings, VICKI GRAND ISLAND, NE
Guess what I got in the mail! Thank you soooo much for your generous donation. It will go towards this years ride. $60 more to get to $500. Thanks again, I really appreciate your support!3 -

M – I hope you get the job you want. Good for you opting out!
Did a spinning workout, then took a shower, went to WalMart, then we put down weed killer, went in the pool, bowling tonight
Heather – I remember when the pandemic hit, it felt so good to go to the soup kitchen. Gave me a reason to wear decent clothes and makeup. So I totally understand how you feel putting on those jeans
Annie – how scary for you and your dad. Hope his knee is OK
Lisa – beautiful stained glass bag
Monique – trigger finger can be a real pain. Had one a while ago . I’m so sorry for all your losses
Not sure why, but feeling so very tired. Think I’ll get to bed.
