About a tenth of a mile into my run this morning, I realized I forgot to put my Noxgear vest on so we made a u-turn back to the car to get it. I paused my watch and didn’t remember to start it again until 4 miles later. Oops! It still counts right?
Oh @daria0919 I’m so sorry you are having such issues with your foot. I hope it calms down so that surgery isn’t necessary.
@martaindale - I hope the labs show that your exhaustion can be fixed by adjusting a vitamin or mineral and that it is not long COVID.
Glad you had a nice run @yirara.
I hope your calf trouble is gone for Saturday’s race @Scott6255. Glad you have a back up plan to run with your niece. If you still feel niggles on Friday, it might be better to just plan to stick with her and not injure yourself any further.
Lookout run #100 @tarun_yadavA! He will be coming in hot!
Great speedy run @kgirlhart!
Good job fitting in your runs and walks during a busy time.
I’m sure I missed replying to people but for some reason MFP wouldn’t go back a page for me to refresh my memory!

My weather app said that the running conditions were excellent this morning, and it was certainly right. I ran 6.25 miles and kept it at a pretty easy pace. It wasn't as speedy as yesterday, but it was still speedier than my average has been lately. I think I forget how hard running in the heat can be.
@daria0919 I am so sorry! I hope you can avoid surgery. We'll miss you.
@martaindale I hope you can get some answers and it's not long covid.
@scott6255 I hope the calf behaves. Running with your niece sounds nice though.
@tarun_yadavA Awesome job on the streak!

Great run @Teresa502 . I hate it when I forget to turn my watch back on, but, like you said, it counts anyway.
@kgirlhart I'm glad you are enjoying your runs in the cooler weather.

40.8/80 mile goal
I didn't sleep the best last night, so kept hitting the snooze and got up about 30 minutes later than I planned. I still barely had time to get my drill workout run in on the treadmill, without adding much additional distance/time, before getting ready and heading out to work at daycare.
I walked 0.25 miles for warm up, wun 5.0/4.0 mph about 6 min, did the drills, wun for a little more than 10 min - at 5.5 and 5.0/4.0 mph. My cadence drills were 4 x (30 sec each at 7.0/4.0 mph). Acceleration gliders were 4 x (6.0/4.0 mph). I walked another 0.25 miles for cool down at 3.8 mph. The avg pace of the 2 mile run was 12:14 min/mile. It felt pretty easy today. Avg HR was 125 with a max of 148 bpm.
My friend and I had planned on tennis after work today, but it was cold, windy, and sprinkling rain. None of those things are conducive to fun tennis, so we cancelled.4 -
Morning all
Thank you @Scott6255 @Teresa502 @quilteryoyo @kgirlhart 😊😊😊😊
Just woke up. Currently great British weather outside.... Rain. 😔
@Scott6255 hope calf is ok by weekend4 -
Well, my running days are basically over.
Saw ankle/foot specialist this morning. My lifetime of having very flat feet has caught up with me. The PTTD can’t be reversed she said. Best case is to stop it from getting worse so as to avoid surgery. Plan is to get the tendon to calm down, so in a boot for next 4 weeks to start. 😞
I have to wear the boot with every step I take until my next appointment.
Bye bye 8K training and 8K race in November.
I’ll still pop in to visit this group, but won’t be posting mileage.
@daria0919 oh no! I'm so sorry to read this 😢0 -

Posting 2 runs. Yesterday I did a short run in the hill country before coming home. I was able to actually run all the hills. It wasn't fast but I was able to take the increased exertion without maxing out.
Today I skipped my planned interval run. I could tell it was out of my reach but I wanted to push a little so I did a modified tempo run. After the warm-up I upped the intensity a little without focusing on the pace. I went to the neighborhood trail which also helped to make the intensity a little higher. Again, it wasn't fast, but faster than the very easy pace I've been at for last several months. Just enough to make me breath harder and really feel my heart beat but not enough to make me feel wiped.
I am going to the Dr next week to get labs done. In the meantime I'm making some adjustments to my schedule. I'm removing my monthly goal. It's an unnecessary reminder of what I'm unable to do right now. I'm hoping there will be something out of whack that can be fixed. My biggest fear right now is long COVID. It, just like any other disease, exists on a spectrum. The timing of my illness and my usual lower intensity to handle the summer heat means I haven't done high intensity running since before I was sick. It's possible that this is my new normal and I'm trying to mentally prepare for that. Hopefully it's not and I can get my fitness back, but I do better when I can prepare for possible bad news, so I'm trying to prepare.
I really, really hope for you that it's not Long Covid. For the record, if it IS, those labs may come out absolutely perfect. Then the doctor scratches his head while staring at the results, says he doesn't know how to help you, and sends you off to the next specialist, or says it's just stress and that's it. You basically have to rule everything else out because LC doesn't have an official test yet. So be prepared to speak up and request (demand?) further testing if this shows nothing. Hopefully you've got something that's easily treated and you'll be back on track soon!5 -
Morning everyone! Weather cleared up! Actually quite pleasant now!
Got in 7.0 miles at a pacier-than-ushe 08"46.
And that brings up 100 consecutive runs!!! 😊😊
Thanks for all the support everyone 🤗6 -
@polskagirl01 Yes, LC is a diagnosis of exclusion. I'm hoping for something simple like iron deficiency or hypothyroidism. If everything is normal, I'm also planning to talk to someone about starting HRT as perimenopause has really ramped up for me and maybe that is also playing a role. Even if the HRT doesn't fix the running problem it should help the litany of other symptoms and that would also be nice.
How are you doing? Haven't heard from you in a while.2 -
@tarun_yadavA Congrats! 100 days is quite a streak.2

@tarun_yadavA Congrats. Nice that you were able to get good weather and a pacier run for your 100th in a row! You're awesome.1

I'm surviving 😁Coming up on 3 years with LC. I am learning to live with it, and would even say that, compared to a year ago, I am having about as many bad and good days, but I'm now able to do more. I leave the house to go shopping once a week, church once a week, and drive the kids to youth group on Saturdays. I have a rotating 5-week meal plan with easy meals, and a stool in the kitchen so I can sit to cook. Kids ride their bikes to school, help with cleaning around the house and earn some spending money in the process. Earlier this month I got the furnace up and running by myself. My husband comes back in 3 weeks from a long trip to the USA for work, and I will happily hand over the driving and furnace responsibilities. Driving is such an energy drain! Maybe I'll be able to try walking again, but I get extra dizzy when I'm upright for too long and my head feels more on-fire, so I need to be careful and only proceed when I'm ready. I'm getting better at that!
Some more interesting things are my giant pumpkins, and little "Josie" the guinea pig, who I made absolute sure was female so she could be a good companion to our lonely Katey... only we didn't know Josie came to us pregnant. The people we got her from were super apologetic, seems their son was bad at pig-sitting while mom was on vacation, and didn't keep everyone sufficiently separate. So we're now on baby watch. Sigh... I tried to not have a pig farm...
(Those dates are day/month/year instead of American order.)
I've definitely gained more weight than I am happy about, but over the past few weeks have had the mental energy to be able to start logging my eating again instead of just hopelessly grabbing whatever was in reach and easy. It seems like it's going to be a very slow process, but I'm ready to do my part.7 -
Thanks for the update @polskagirl01! That is a huge pumpkin!! Seems like every time I hear about someone getting a guinea pig, they end up being pregnant!!0

First day of the new training plan. I'm going to try coach Amy from the Garmin coaches. I figured I can't hang with the Hansons plan so I might as well try something new. The Garmin coaches seem to be lower volume and I might need that in order to have a shot at successfully doing high exertion workouts. Today was the benchmark run. 2 mins w/u, 5 mins running strong (which I assumed was a comfortably hard pace), and 2 min c/d. It went fine. I started too fast and my pace dropped a little about halfway through the 5 mins but I felt ok about my performance. It was less than a mile and that was too short so I did a little over a mile before and another 1.5 mi after to get to a distance that made me feel like I actually went out for a run.
I scheduled Thurs as a rest day because it seems like that day is routinely pretty hard for running from a work perspective. Hopefully that will help with making Pilates more consistent too.5 -

Not quite as good as yesterday, but still nice. 10 minutes faster run at the end.5 -
It was wet, cold and windy this morning so I did an upper body weight workout and ran 1 mile on the treadmill.
@polskagirl01 - so good to hear to from you and to see you and your giant pumpkin!
Congrats on the 100-day streak @tarun_yadavA!3 -
@polskagirl01 I'm glad you are having more good days and able to do more than you could before. I hope Josie does well with the babies and you are able to give them all to wonderful homes. She's a pretty guinea pig. What did you do with that huge pumpkin?
Nice run @martaindale . I hope you enjoy your new plan.
Great running @yirara .
@Teresa502 I don't blame you. It felt really cold all day today with that breeze.2 -

I went to the gym earlier than normal this morning so I could get a leaky tire checked out before I went to work. Had a good workout.
The tire, unfortunately, was the same one that leaked down a few months back and had a screw they took out and plugged. It was the plug that was leaking and they couldn't fix it because it was too close to the outer wall - probably why it didn't hold in the first place. They had to order the tire, but got it in today, so I had it replaced after work.
I had planned to get in a run after work and before church, but by the time I got home, I only had 40 min before I needed to leave, so I did a mile on the treadmill and called it a day.
The boil alert for my water has been lifted! So, back to normal on that front.

Good to see you @polskagirl01! That pumpkin is amazing!
Congratulations on the 100 days @tarun_yadava!
I was planning a short run today, so I got out a little later than usual, but I still managed to see the full moon before it set. It was huge and orange and gorgeous. It was cool at around 54°F and just a lovely morning. I was kind of tired this morning, and not really feeling it when I got up, but once I got going it turned out to be a really good 4 mile run.

I enjoyed my ‘recovery’ days thinking about my next mini goal (the main one being ‘keep running without injury’!). On that note: sorry to hear your news, @daria0919 that’s a real blow; @martindale I hope your doc finds you some answers; @Scott6255 good luck for Saturday!
I want to ease my calves into running in my zero drop shoes (Altra Torin 7 that have a bit of cushion, and Saguaro Vigor II which are barefoot), so I decided on the Jeff Galloway 5k with a time goal of 30:59. This should mean the initial distances will be low and build gently, and I can try keeping in Zone 2 for the long runs.
On Tuesday I did the benchmark run, and then for a bit of fun I did a lactate threshold test (Garmin has my lactate threshold at 155 10:58): my watch tried to kill me, and I ‘failed’ as I just couldn’t get into zone 5 (above 172). I think this a common problem with the test?
Yesterday it was unusually mild weather, and I did my first cadence drills and acceleration-glider drills, and having to use my brain made it interesting!

Ran under a beautiful, bright moon this morning but it was chilly at 35F. I wore a long shirt, capris and gloves. My capris weren’t thick enough though and my legs were so cold by the time I got back to the car. I turned on my seat warmer but couldn’t feel anything for several minutes and then when I did I didn’t want to get out of the car.
@quilteryoyo – Glad your boil alert has been lifted. Parts of Asheville still don’t have water and may not for a couple of months.
Good luck easing into the zero drop shoes @AmunahSki. You are taking a smart approach!
And the streak continues @tarun_yadavA! You are doing great channeling your inner @AlphaHowls!
3 -
Glad you had a nice run @kgirlhart .
Good luck @AmunahSki . Let me know how you like Jeff's plan. I am in the middle of his HM plan to get ready for my 10 miler in Dec.
Nice that you are keeping the streak going @tarun_yadavA !
It is really chilly this morning @Teresa502 . I have decided I really need some cold weather running gear. I would have probably bailed early on the run. I really dislike being cold, esp. when trying to run. I'm glad you had the seat warmers though. And, yes, I'm glad for the water situation here, but feel so badly for those in NC that are having to deal with this for months.3 -

16/10 3.62 miles

Drizzled & misty the whole time but no wind so it felt quite relaxing.
@daria_0507 - I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Hopefully you can avoid surgery.
@tarun_yadavA - Go U and your 100 day streak!

That's so interesting. I have zero problems getting into zone 5. I take special care to stay out of zone 5. If it's warm I'll hit it in a longer run even if I'm doing walk breaks.3 -
Good luck easing into the zero drop shoes @AmunahSki. You are taking a smart approach!
Absolutely. I got Achilles tendonitis a few years ago when I got new shoes with a much lower drop than the ghosts I was using at the time. Didn't realize the difference and paid the price.2
