Weigh-in Wednesdays are encouraged, as they come right in the middle of the week, allowing for some flexibility on the weekends when we sometimes have different routines. Also, the first day of 2025 falls on a Wednesday, and the final day of this challenge, Wednesday, March 19th is the last day of Winter!

I will begin posting my weight and scale app stats on January 1st. The remaining weeks I will just post weight changes, but will post before/after scale app stats on March 19th.

For me, daily food logging and regular activity are key. (Whatever works for you is fine.)

I look forward to sharing this wellness journey with you!

Welcome @garciakayc!🌹I'm having insomnia right now due to a second bout with COVID, but I wanted to let you know I read and appreciated your post.

I am steadily improving. I will check the board every day until the official start date. You can pick whatever start date works best for you and can choose whatever with in day you prefer.

Best wishes for the rest of the weekend!

Best wishes for rest of weekend to you Carole.

    Hi @garciakayc,

Many thanks for your well wishes! The COVID test line took longer to appear and is fainter than before - online information from CDC states that this means the level of virus is decreasing - yay!

I am not running a temperature but I still have some congestion and a partially blocked right ear, but otherwise I'm okay.

I understand that you will be posting your first challenge weight on Wednesday, January 8th. That still gives you 10 weeks until the last day of this challenge. We can do this!

    Enjoy your Sunday!

This is great. I am in. I have 70 Pounds to lose but one step at a time. I like to lose 10-15 lbs by March 19th. Current weight 189 lbs. do you think weekly weigh-in is better or daily weigh-in?

Thanks Walela for setting this challenge up and for inviting us to join you. Wednesdays work perfectly for me as I've been working Sun, Mon and Tuesdays. Just handed in my resignation yesterday, so Wednesdays are my first day off, and Wed Jan 1st will be the first day of 'retirement' ;3rd time I've retired ;) . Looking forward to being able to focus on "me".
    Today's weight is 177.2.

Okay, now time for a dumb question ~ how to include a person's name in your post, such as how Rainbow included "@Walela617" ? If I select "quote" then the entire post is included, I only want the name.

Welcome to everyone joining! I really look forward to beginning the new year with this challenge and sharing this wellness journey together!

@Lynn__W, Welcome and very best wishes for your upcoming retirement!🎉

@Sulekhatc, Welcome to you too! How often you choose to weigh-in is based on whatever works best for YOU! (Speaking personally, I drive myself crazy when I weigh in daily due to the inevitable day-to-day fluctuations. I'm in a December challenge and it's so maddeningly frustrating sometimes! Whatever you think will help you most is fine!) 10-15 lbs. down by Spring is a very realistic goal. That's what I'm aiming for as well.

Welcome to @rh0322 also. Glad you're here!

@garciakayc, That's GREAT! I'm glad you get to start on January 1st as well. (Can you believe it's less than two weeks from now?) Many thanks for your get-well wishes. I am still recovering from symptoms but finally testing negative! 😄

Welcome also to @1crvygrl and @Rainbow2300! You can pick whatever weigh-in days work best for you.

Very best wishes to all for the upcoming holidays!

Hi everyone, My weight has been steadily creeping up since I recovered from COVID, mainly due to celebrations and co-workers bringing in treats; so I need to get a handle on that starting NOW.

I was hoping to get down to 150 or less by then, but I probably won't. I'll be happy if I can get back into the lower 150's by then. For this challenge, my goal is to weigh 140 or less by the last day of Winter, March 19, 2025.

    February 29, 2008 - 217 (All-time highest weight before I joined)
    Goal Range - 132-140
    December Starting Weight - 152.2
December Goal - 150 (or less)

Here's how this month has turned out so far:
    12/01 - 152.2
    12/02 - 153.2
    12/03 - 153.6
    12/04 - 154.6
    12/05 - 154.6 (No change!)
    12/06 - 153.8
    12/07 - 153.8 (No change)
    12/08 - 153.6
    12/09 - Skipped
    12/10 - Skipped
    12/11 - 153.0
    12/12 - 153.0
    12/13 - 152.2
    12/14 - 152.2
    12/15 - 151.6
    12/16 - 151.8
    12/17 - 151.6
    12/18 - 151.8
    12/19 - 151.8
    12/20 - 155.0
12/21 - 156.8 (I ate almost all day yesterday! I sure hope this is a temporary water weight gain! I've got to snap out of this "holiday eating" mode and prepare for our January 1st restart date here on this board!

I knew I was going to put some weight back on after COVID once my appetite returned, but I sure didn't expect to regain this much!

I will continue to post daily weight on a different board I joined; however, my next weigh-in here will be on January 1st.

    Have a great weekend!

    Hi everyone,

Oh no! I didn't save a draft and my entire comment got erased! (I hate when that happens!) Anyway, I got rid of most of the temporary bloat from overindulging over the past several days; so this morning the scale read 152.4, which is 0.2 more than my weight on December 1st.

I'm hoping to get down to 150 or less by the New Year. I think I can do that if I'm very careful to stay within my calorie limit and if I make sure to add regular activity over the next ten days remaining in this year. I plan to stay away from the "goodies" that surround us at this festive season. (If it doesn't add nutritional value, then I don't need it!)

Beginning January 1st, I will post current weight, weight loss for the week, total weight loss and lbs. to goal (140 or less), weekly on Wednesday. I will post my scale app stats on the first day as well as key measurements (bust, waist, hips, "potbelly") and will post the final challenge stats and measurements on March 19th to show my progress. (My goal range is 132-140 ultimately.)

    Have a great day,
    🩷 Carole

I’m down 4lbs already! 🎊Yay~ I hadn’t weighed myself in a while and when I did, I was 206.4lbs! That’s what got me to look at MFP again. Anyone, have the premium account? Is it worth it? Back in Sept. 21’ I hit my lowest weight since pre-kids of 185.8lbs and my goal was 175lbs. Currently, I’m at 202.8. I’m determined to start the new year under 200lbs. I can’t wait to start Countdown to Spring!! 😃 I’ll do weigh in Wed.’s!

WOW, @rainbow2300! Four pounds gone already? What a fantastic head start!

I've had the premium version before. I thought it was worth it at the time, but when the price went up, I just said, "I'm good", because I didn't want to pay it. There are a few less features with the free version, but I'm not really bothered by ads and I'm here mainly for the food diary and the Community pages anyway.

I absolutely believe you can reach "Onederland" by the end of the year! I'm hoping to lose about three pounds by then as well. We've got 10 days - let's DO this! For me, the only way this can happen is with increased activity. Now that I'm completely over COVID I have no excuses.

I'll be checking in regularly as we wind down the rest of the year.

    Have a great week!

You know the fastest, easiest way to lose weight? Bad batteries in your scale. 5 pounds in 2 days.
    Oops! Just kidding. Lol.
    Felt good for a minute.

Hello everyone, Happy Christmas Eve, Eve!

Welcome to our newest members, @Corina1143 and @TotallyFakeFakeName2489! We're so glad you could join us - the more, the merrier!

I can relate about the scale batteries, LOL! (That's happened to me before too!) I now have a 15 lb. dumbbell that normally weighs in at 15.4 on this scale; so, I kind of use that as a "calibrator" and if it shows that weight, then I know it's probably right. (Plus, I usually recalibrate the scale and the "zero it out" before weighing 2 or 3 times to make sure it's consistent.)

My weight's been jumping around a lot over the past month, probably because I've been eating inconsistently between too much and not enough (when I had COVID). It looks like it's stabilizing somewhat between 152 and 153, but I'm still hoping to be 150 by the time our next challenge kicks off on January 1st. I need to get more activity in to make that happen - definitely!

    Have a great day,
    💖Carole

Hi I would like to join this challenge. I went clothes shopping yesterday, and let me tell you, it was a real eye opener about just how far I have let myself go.

Came home last night and started right in, went to the gym for the first time in forever this afternoon and have planned my meals for the day.

I am currently 81.5 kg and hope to be at 80 or just below before the challenge starts. I think this is doable (even though it will probably be mostly water weight). I plan on really keeping my resolution this year as I can't stand the person I see staring back at me in the mirror at the moment, and I am in the worst shape of my life (and I can definately feel it).

If y'all are comfortable with a geriatric male joining in, I would like to be a part of this. (If not, that's fine I can move on, I am just looking for a 10-13 week group to kickstart me.) I promise not to make more than one Dad Joke a day.

I have lost through other challenges only to regain once I lost my focus. I WANT to lose 60 pounds but really NEED to lose 40.

I'd love to join this challenge!

26F, 5'3" I've been overweight since a younger teen and hit obesity around 19 or 20. I've always always tried to lose weight, but I've been consistently working on my weight loss since about November 2023. The first 10 lbs were lost "quickly", and then this year I've lost about 28 through up and down waves of commitment. I'm proud of myself for always getting myself back on the right track which is new for me and gives me hope that I can actually lose it all for real.
    SW: 212
    CW: 173.6
GW: Top range of healthy BMI would be 140, I expect I will desire to be closer to 120, but getting healthy is goal #1.

"Overweight" rather than Obese BMI for me is 5 lbs. away so I'm very excited to hit that soon.
One goal I made when I turned 25 was not only to lose the weight, but really re-learn how to live and eat in a way that I do not gain weight before I turn 30.
