I knew I was going to put back some after COVID, but NUH-UH! NO WAY! Still, I pledged to report honestly and yeah, my scale said 155 this morning! (I sure hope it's just fluid retention or something - we'll have to wait and see what happens over the next few days. " Daily Weigh-in and Logging Challenge" INDEED! I really don't like weighing daily but I promised I'd do it for December. Effective January 1st, I'm going back to weighing in weekly on Wednesdays.

Have a great weekend everyone! I will check back in tomorrow with hopefully better news.

My name is Donna. I am 5’ 5” tall, 64 years old and from Michigan USA. In 2016 I weighed 253 lbs. I am on a journey of health and to get back to the real me.

Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

Weight in blue makes me blue because it’s a gain. Weight in fuchsia pink makes me feel cheery because it’s a loss. Weight in black means no change.

    12/19-191.0-(Trend Weight 192.2)-

12/20-192.8-(Trend Weight 192.3)- This is usually my no-weigh Friday but my schedule changed due to the school being closed. We were slammed with a winter storm so I didn’t have to get up or do an extra-early weigh-in. I was expected to travel a very long in-state day for DD’s medical appt but had to cancel that as we have been snowed in. Got some shoveling in today for sure with more to go. The rest is up to my son! I had pizza yesterday so I’m not surprised at the uptick. Also it is Day 2 with no TMI. All excuses aside, I must stick to plan today and try to reach my water goal too. It’s creeping back up and not conducive to that 5 pound loss I’ve been eyeing in the showroom window. T-Minus 0.8 lbs with 4.2 lbs to go. Time to get the gears out of reverse and move forward! Lots more packages and wrapping today. Merry Jolly Jingle Bells and all that other good stuff!

12/21-190.6-(Trend Weight 192.1)- Whoosh after a little TMI finally and losing all the bloat from the past couple of days that included restaurant foods. The scale is still 0.6 higher than my lowest recent reading but I didn’t expect to come out of this past week unscathed. Now, to get back on the path of losing that 5-lbs-in-no-time-frame micro mini goal! T-Minus 3.0 lbs with 2 lbs to go. I was hoping to lean into the holidays on stable footing so this really helps. We are about to enter the toughest week of the year for most of us. I’ll do all that I can to keep up the momentum. Today is my DGS’ birthday party being held at a small venue. I expect the scale will be up again tomorrow but I will make every day that I possibly can really really count in order to mitigate the damages. It’s going to be a day-to-day thing for me for sure! I’d really like to go into January in fairly good shape figuratively speaking. Hey, was that a double pun?

Hi everyone, My weight has been steadily creeping up since I recovered from COVID, mainly due to celebrations and co-workers bringing in treats; so I need to get a handle on that starting NOW. I have a new challenge that starts on Wednesday, January 1st. I was hoping to get down to 150 or less by then, but I probably won't. I'll be happy if I can get back into the lower 150's by then. My next challenge goal is to weigh 140 or less by the last day of Winter, March 19, 2025.

    February 29, 2008 - 217 (All-time highest weight before I joined)
    Goal Range - 132-140
    December Starting Weight - 152.2

    12/03 - 153.6
    12/04 - 154.6
    12/05 - 154.6 (No change!)
    12/06 - 153.8
    12/07 - 153.8 (No change)
    12/08 - 153.6
    12/09 - Skipped
    12/10 - Skipped
    12/11 - 153.0
    12/12 - 153.0
    12/13 - 152.2
    12/14 - 152.2
    12/15 - 151.6
    12/16 - 151.8
    12/17 - 151.6
    12/18 - 151.8
    12/19 - 151.8
    12/20 - 155.0
12/21 - 156.8 (I ate almost all day yesterday! I sure hope this is a temporary water weight gain! I've got to snap out of this "holiday eating" mode and prepare for my January 1st restart date!)

Have a great weekend everyone! I will check back in tomorrow with hopefully better news than a 4.6 lb. gain!

    Have a great weekend!

Dec 22: 143.2 Didn't meet a single goal yesterday, not even the water! First day of Christmas celebrations for me. Allyson came over early, then off to my sister's house. White elephant gift exchange and a few snacks. Then out to dinner last night. I didn't go overboard, but did indulge some. Didn't track anything. Today we are having Christmas at my house. Then out for lunch and then going to see Wiked. Probably won't be tracking today either - but hope to get at least a walk on the treadmill after the movie (when Allyson leaves for home).

    Hi everyone,

It appears that many of us are dealing with similar, seasonal challenges that make it harder to stick with our program and meet our goals. It appears that I did lose some of the temporary weight from overindulging over the past few days, but I need to be extra careful for the remaining days in December!

    February 29, 2008 - 217 (All-time highest weight before I joined)
    Goal Range - 132-140
    December Starting Weight - 152.2
December Goal - 150 (or less)

    12/01 - 152.2
    12/02 - 153.2
    12/03 - 153.6
    12/04 - 154.6
    12/05 - 154.6 (No change!)
    12/06 - 153.8
    12/07 - 153.8 (No change)
    12/08 - 153.6
    12/09 - Skipped
    12/10 - Skipped
    12/11 - 153.0
    12/12 - 153.0
    12/13 - 152.2
    12/14 - 152.2
    12/15 - 151.6
    12/16 - 151.8
    12/17 - 151.6
    12/18 - 151.8
    12/19 - 151.8
    12/20 - 155.0
    12/21 - 156.8
    12/22 - 152.4 (Weight change from 12/01: UP 0.2)

I'm going to try to get to down to 150 by January 1st. I've got ten days;. So I think I can do it, provided I avoid any lapses by not overeating and/or eating non-nutritious foods and get in more activity.

    Have a great day!

I’m Laz. 34 years old from Melbourne.
Sub 2500 calories is a successful day.

    Dec 13th: 2200 calories βœ…
    Dec 14th: 2250 calories βœ…
    Dec 15th: 2150 calories βœ…
    Dec 16th: 2000 calories βœ… 95.7kgs/211lbs
    Dec 17th: 2250 calories βœ…
    Dec 18th: 4100 calories ❌ 95.2kgs/209.9lbs
    Dec 19th: 3050 calories ❌
    Dec 20th: 3450 calories ❌
    Dec 21st: 2950 calories ❌ 96.3kgs/212.3lbs

Tracking yes. Deficit no. Scales reflect not being in a deficit 4 days in a row. With some big blowouts. End of December goal looking less and less likely.

End of December goal: Sub 94.0kgs/207.2lbs

@m_lazarides You are not alone, my friend. This is a tough time. I personally am doing What I can, When I can, Where I can, As I can. I also always say that I may give IN but I Never give UP. I look forward to January 1st when I can more steadily buckle down. Living life and celebrating is okay. We are okay. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! We got this.

    12/20-192.8-(Trend Weight 192.3)-

12/22-193.0-(Trend Weight 192.2)- Lots of fun at the birthday party for my DGS’s 9th birthday. He is the one who is also on the autism spectrum and I was so thrilled to see so many children and their parents there. Socialization is so hard for many with autism. I went through this with my son who is also on the spectrum. There was pizza, cheese bread, cake & ice cream and all the fixings. I managed to keep portions to a β€œnot bad” level. However, I got super hungry at 1:00 in the morning and ended up eating a large bowl of soup with about 12 round crackers. That didn’t help the scale this morning. I’m hoping tomorrow will show I’ve flushed all the sodium and that my weight is in check. I don’t expect progress after all that, but if I can be back to 190 point anything like yesterday, I will take it as a win. I don’t want to spend valuable time chasing my tail. This is going to be the hardest week of 2024 due to the holidays and traditions (did someone say cookies and fudge?) Know that you all inspire me to be a better version of me and I am grateful. Things would be so much worse without you all.

    Hi Donna, @deepwoodslady,

I'm so glad you had fun at your grandson's birthday party! You're so right - this is the toughest time of year, but if we stay strong, we can DO this!

I think you will probably drop that water weight before the end of the year. We still have ten days left in this year, counting today! I know that if I stay on track and body my activity level I can probably lose three pounds by the end of this challenge. I read that cold weather helps us burn more calories. ( Hope it's true, because it's really cold right now! (Boston is currently 18Β°.)

Best wishes for the festive week ahead and good times with loved ones!

Hi all. So unfortunately I’m really sick with the flu. Been in bed for days and am not going to be able to go to my mums for Christmas at this point. Hopefully I’ll be better by tomorrow but I’m really not doing well.

The first month since I started this journey that I gained weight. So I am back , probably for the rest of my life LOL! πŸ‘£ 6K Steps - No exercise, did not track1

Didn't meet a single goal yesterday, not even the water!

    Dec 23: 144.2 πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈβ€βž‘οΈπŸ’¦
πŸ‘£ 8.6K Steps, 30 Min πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈβ€βž‘οΈ 1.5 mile walk - no other exercise. Did not Track!

I had a wonderful day yesterday and have no regrets. But now I need to get back on track. We have nine days left in December and there is no reason for me not to be be on track for eight of those. Still hoping for a negative month, but if I don't succeed I will not give in. I have am hoping to be in a negative situation this month. I will be strong the next two days, I'll have a small hiccup on Christmas and then it should be smooth sailing for a bit. My goal is to get to be back to ideal weight status by my two year weight loss journey anniversary on January 12.

It is a frigid 4 degrees this morning - so looking like all inside exercise today! My house looks a bomb went off it in - so cleaning up the mess today - that should count as some exercise too.

@walela617 I think I will follow your lead next year on the weekly weigh ins - but I'll still be here for the daily accountability of my other goals. I tried the not checking in every day thing and it didn't work for me - but thinking that a weekly weigh in might help my self doubt which leads to self sabatoge!

@ozdeelite Your parasailing adventure sure look like fun. SOMEDAY I will try it. It is on my bucket list of things to try before I die! Sorry about the Covid situation, hope it's a mild case.

@cinw1501 A massage sounds lovely. Did you get your tree up? I hear you with the "gain this month", but think of how much we gained in other years this time of year. Maintaining, or just a little higher this month is a huge accomplishment in my book.

@m_lazarides Tracking is the key to this whole thing. It helps put things in perspective too! Great advice from Donna - never ever give up! 2025 will be a good year for you!

@deepwoodslady Tough week for everyone - but we are here and that is what matters- no regrets enjoy your time with family - that is the most important thing. And ditto my friend, this group inspires me to be my best too. Wouldn't be where I am today without it. πŸ’—

Hi everyone, Happy Christmas Eve, Eve!

Dear @ozdeelite, I'm so sorry to hear that both you AND your son got COVID and you won't be able to go to your mum's for Christmas! 😧 I hope you both have a short course and recover quickly! πŸ™πŸ»

The foster mom for my future cat and her family developed cold symptoms over the weekend (including her baby girl); so, I'm not really sure when I will be able to visit for an introduction. We'll just play it by ear. It might be after the New Year at this point - depends on how quickly they recover and what they have going on next weekend.

I did something radical. I deleted all of my previous weight entries except today. This morning the scale said 153.2. The overnight bump up is likely because I ate normally yesterday (just below 1,450 calories) but the day before I just had two, low-carb tortillas with some oat milk butter (for the entire day). It seems my weight is still correcting itself, because I went from 156.8 to 152.4 to 153.2 over three days! (This is why I truly hate weighing in daily!) BUT--I joined this December daily weight group and will stick it out until the end, but I don't believe I will ever weigh myself daily, ever again. (It's driving me "batty"!)

12/23-DNW-(Trend Weight DNW)- What a snowstorm we are having! I had 4 hair appointments today that I called and cancelled last night when I saw the weather reports. No way was I driving in this mess to pick up (and then later take home) both my DGS’ for their appointments linked with mine and my sons. I completely forgot to weigh today as I jumped in my boots and went out to shovel before UPS and FED EX arrived. Then came right back in to my hot coffee that was waiting. Oh well. It’s not the first time I’ve done things out of order and forgot to weigh. Anyway…..I have been reflecting on 2024 this morning. I started the year with a weight of 183.8. I’m feeling a little sad today. There is no way that 2024 will be a banner year for me. All I can do is focus on improving from where I stand right now. Shall I end the year with a whimper or a bang? It’s a tough time of year but it is always up to me. In the season of gifts, the greatest gift I can give to myself is dedication to my health. That kinda sounds like a New Year’s resolution, doesn’t it?

Thanks everyone. I’m quite sick actually and annoyed that I managed to evade covid until now. The timing. Poor mum bought heaps of food for us to eat and my eldest son is going away so I won’t get to see him either. Probably spend New Year’s Eve with mum.

Hope everyone has a good Christmas. I will be making a roast pork with cheesecake and crackers and cheese for my son and I to graze on.

    πŸ‘£ 6K Steps - No exercise, did not track1

Didn't meet a single goal yesterday, not even the water! Probably won't be tracking today either - but hope to get at least a walk on the treadmill after the movie (when Allyson leaves for home).

πŸ‘£ 8.6K Steps, 30 Min πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈβ€βž‘οΈ 1.5 mile walk - no other exercise.

Back on track yesterday, cleaned up the Christmas chaos. Today am cooking for our Christmas get together tomorrow - hoping not to get too sidetracked. It warmed up a little since yesterday - so hope to get an outside walk in today.
