Hi Jill! Thanks so much for renewing this challenge for December and for keeping the weekly challenge going!

Normally, I get too stressed with weighing in daily; however, now that we are in the "home stretch" to the New Year, now less than five weeks away, I think I need to check in daily to stay on track due to all the challenges that come up throughout the holiday season: parties, entertaining, dinner get-togethers at restaurants with friends and family members, people bringing in goodies to work, food and beverage gifts, etc.

My regular weigh-in day is Wednesday, but I will definitely start posting my daily weight here beginning tomorrow, Sunday, December 1st!

    Have a great weekend everyone!

    Hi everyone,

Sharing a healthy, pumpkin custard recipe I found on the internet: I used sucralose drops (to taste) for sweetener, maple extract instead of vanilla extract, Planet Oak unsweetened vanilla oat milk and I also ended up baking it about 10 or 15 minutes longer until it seemed done to me. (I sprayed the ramekins with avocado oil before filling to prevent sticking.) It came out great!x16xmqccdwgo.jpg8ugnbjpog2mx.jpgYeah, they spelled "pumpkin" wrong. (I took screenshots because they wanted me to download something before I could save it and I didn't want to do that.) I halved the recipe and made two, generous servings, both of which I plan to enjoy today! (I'm going to make it again for tomorrow, but I'll probably use less oat milk next time.) The recipe said to chill these, but I enjoyed my first serving while it was still warm. I'm going to chill the second serving for later and compare.

Enjoy your evening - I'll check back in tomorrow! 💗

Hello again everyone! Wow the year is already just about over. Not starting out well this month - since I got my catheter out I’m blowing up like a balloon again- going to have to get it back in. Off to Sydney Tuesday and am stressed due to everything I’ve got to do still this year.

    Hi Everyone!
I'm Cindy and 51 and have been married to my very supportive husband for 27 years. We have a daughter who is 19.
I can't believe its December!🎄⛄ 2024 has not been my year for loosing weight. However, I did get a gym membership in July and go consistently. Usually 4 days a week, so I consider that a win. I do feel more fit even if the scale doesn't reflect it.
The November goal of logging my food was met the last half of the month and I started to see a little change in weight.

    April 2020 - 165
    Goal - 140
    December Starting Weight - 159
    December Goal - 155

    12/1 - 159 ⬇️

Hi Jill and everyone in the group,

Happy Sunday! I like the format as shown by Cindy (above); so I will post similarly:

    February 29, 2008 - 217
    Goal Range - 132-140
    December Starting Weight - 152.2
December Goal - 148 (or less)

Like Cindy, I'm going to try to average one pound loss per week for the remainder of this year. With all the challenges presented over the holiday season, I think this is a very worthy goal and is quite achievable. All we need to do is balance out any combination of less intake and more activity equal to an average of 500 calories per day, and we're there!

    12/01 - 152.2

I am happy with this first weigh-in, because on Thanksgiving morning the scale showed 153; so I'm actually down from the last three days. I indulged a bit, but was very careful. I also did a 5-mile walk on Friday; so that helped too.

Enjoy your day; I will check back tomorrow.

12/01-194.2-(Trend Weight 192.0)- Well, here is the expected gain after our family Thanksgiving dinner yesterday. I really didn’t feel like I ate very much as I got full pretty quickly. However, there are so many starches / carbs that I’m just not used to having all at once. Hopefully some of this will flush out. December will be tough because I have to travel so much, every time I need to shop for Christmas. Living in a very remote rural area is beautiful but very inconvenient at times, especially this time of year! We are expecting 4 more inches of snow today but I won’t complain. A town about 60 miles from me just got a record snowfall of 25” on Friday beating a record that had been held since 1942. Winter is officially here in my neck of the woods!

Hi Donna, (@deepwoodslady) Whoa! Snow already? Yikes! I'm not ready! Luckily for me, I'm within walking distance from almost everything I need. I don't own a vehicle but there's plenty of public transportation in the Boston area. Not only that, my employer subsidizes 50% of my T- Pass; so as a senior, (66), I only pay $15/month for unlimited subway, bus and trolley fare. I just need to pay for commuter rail (the "big train" above ground, but I rarely need to take that.) I hardly ever use Lyft, Uber or taxis, but there's plenty of that too. About the Thanksgiving feasts, I'm sure those carbs will be flushed out soon!

Hi Darlene (@iLive2Walk), you sure have been doing a lot of walking, WOW! I think I need to check in daily as well - it's too easy to lose focus otherwise, and I need to stay on track in order to achieve my goals. (I agree that I also need to cut back on screen time though.) We can do this!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend! 💗

Here is my November Reflection. For anyone that doesn't know me - I write these every month. They help me put things in perspective. It wasn't until I started looking back at how far I had come and starting taking before and after pictures that I saw how all the hard work I put in was working and where, when, and why I was struggling.

    November Reflection

November was a tough month. Maintaining is hard – and a lot of distractions did not help. It was the first month since starting this journey that I gained weight. Technically I am within the maintenance range of my goal weight, but I don't like going into the "overweight category" so I am going to change that goal weight to 137, with a 3 pound window instead of 5 pounds. So back in losing mode starting today.

I did better on the fitness side of things. I almost met my intentional miles goal. Currently sitting at 1,922 miles, just a little over 100 miles to go. With twenty nine days to go, that’s an average of 3.5 miles a day. I will get it done!

I didn’t read too much this month. My Biggest Loser Group read The Beck’s Diet Solution together. It was a good read. I wish I had read it at the beginning of my journey. It would have helped a lot. I put down Devious, by Lisa Jackson – life got in the way.

I had quite a few obstacles this month that I went off plan. I had an overnight with the girls at the casino, Thanksgiving and our annual trip to Newport, Rhode Island. All were enjoyable, but I ate, drank too much for each. December brings its own complications, but I will be steady until the holiday hits. As always, we celebrate when Allyson has off. This year we will celebrate the weekend of Dec 21-22. Then I will have a week before the end of the month to get back on track before the new year.

    My Goals for December
    • Get back to the ideal weight category
    • Continue to log everything – daily tracking of food, exercise and other SMART goals
    • Weigh-In Daily – get back on the Daily Accountability thread
    • Average 14K steps per day
    • Walk every day
    • Strength Train 3 days a week
    • Cardio 3+ days per week
    • Full Body Stretch workout – once a week
    • Stay under sodium goal
    • Get to my intentional exercise goal by the end of the year 2,024 in 2024

Same before and after! I didn't change much, and didn't take a new pictures of me!

Good morning everyone, (LOVE your hair, @iLive2Walk! I look forward to when I'm in your weight range now!)

    February 29, 2008 - 217
    Goal Range - 132-140
    December Starting Weight - 152.2
December Goal - 148 (or less)

I'm reminded of why it's sometimes frustrating to weigh in daily, as there can be inexplicable fluctuations (which are entirely normal, I keep telling myself)!

    Anyway, here it is:

    12/01 - 152.2
    12/02 - 153.2

Why up a pound when I ate the exact things yesterday as the day before? Who knows? It is what it is and I promise to be honest. Today I have to be extra careful, because we're having our holiday party at work this afternoon at a big venue that is sure to have lots of holiday treats and other food typically served at parties, which are not usually the healthiest options. I'll just need to keep in mind that I have to get on the scale tomorrow morning. (That might prevent me from going way overboard!)

    Have a great day,
    💗Carole

@Walela617 the bloating is gone. Thank you. I should have said the Christmas lights are from my town - Christmas tradition. I love looking at them! The Christmas tree is mine however. The appointment in Sydney is only a consult so it’s basically 20 minutes for 6 hours driving.

    @iLive2Walk nice hair 🙂

@andreajlnhe stick around! Were you on here before? Your name is familiar. Did you start at 160lb? Because you’re super close to your goal of 121lb. Fantastic! Persistence pays off. Perseverance!

    December Goal 156
    Goal weight: 130

    12/2: 164

It’s been awhile everyone! Finally back. I got down to 148 back in June and then have been gaining it all back….its so much more fun to gain, but my desire to take pics with the kiddo without feeling self conscious is at an all time high. I really need to focus on this and get back to a healthy weight. My parents are visiting next Thursday so I am going HARD these next 10 days (my mom judges and comments harshly and I don’t feel like making it worse then I know it’s going to be) . Also TOM so the bloat weight should fall off fast. Just did a 60 minute walk over lunch and hoping to keep at it for these 10 days and then scale back to a more realistic pace.

12/02-192.8-(Trend Weight 192.0)- This is a nice overnight drop but it’s coming off a higher weight due to my weekend Thanksgiving Dinner. Any scale drop I see coming off today’s number is what I will consider a real loss (not from fluid retention). December will be riddled with multiple challenges for most of us. Mine will be all the required travel to shop for Christmas. I do some of it online but I definitely get out for the hustle and bustle too. I will be working to keep things in check as often as I can. I plan on keeping my home a safe zone when I’m here as those days will really help the overall bottom line (and bottom overall lol). Baking and dessert making will be a challenge but that will not be until much later in the month so no reason not to work on some progress going into December. I’d like to start well and finish well once the Holiday is under my belt. Tomorrow I travel for a dental cleaning. Lunch will be out and I’ll try to get some shopping in while in the city. That’s one less trip later! Let’s have a good month my friends. Any loss is a good loss and any maintenance goals met or fitness goals met are Amazing.

    Hi everyone,

I'm a tad worried about tomorrow's weigh-in. My employers had their holiday party today. Everyone was allowed two drink tickets for alcohol, but I just had two, 12 oz. bottles of sparkling water with cherry flavor (0 calories)! Therefore, it is okay that I ate probably over 2,000 calories! Why? Because I say so! 😉 (Also, it's a lot better than drinking 2,000 calories)!🏆

The food was loaded with sodium and included mini vegetable spring rolls, mini spinach pies, mini chicken quesadillas and coconut shrimp. I also had a medium oatmeal raisin cookie and a chocolate cupcake ( after I scraped off the icing).

Whatever the scale says. I will report it in the morning.

That rigatoni recipe looks amazing @ozdeelite! The vegetable guess rice too! Thanks for sharing! So glad the bloating is gone! Love the tree! 🎄

    Have a nice night everyone,
    💗 Carole

Hello I'm Darlene, retired, 64-year-old. Married (Greg), one adult daughter (Allyson), and one goldendoodle (Monty). I skipped this challenge for November and it was an epic fail. The first month since I started this journey that I gained weight. So I am back , probably for the rest of my life LOL! Was trying to cut back on my screen time, but logging in daily really keeps me on track. Besides that, missed you all too! 💗

    My Goals for December

⚖️ Get back to normal BMI weight 140
    👣 14K Steps per day
    🚶‍♀️‍➡️ Walk daily
    📝 Log Daily
    🥗 250 calorie deficit daily
🫀 Aerobics 3 days per week
🏋️‍♀️ Strength Train 3 days per week
🧘‍♀️ Stretch workout 1 day per week
    💦 8+ glasses of water

    Highest Weight 228

    🎄 December 🎄

    ⚖️ 👣 🚶‍♀️‍➡️📝🥗 🫀🏋️‍♀️ 🧘‍♀️ 💦

    Week One

Goals prior day, weight current day.

Dec 1: DNW - 👣 💦 Just got home from our trip. I did not meet many of my goals, but did mangage to complete 15K 👣 steps, a 2.5 Mile 🚶‍♀️‍➡️walk, and met my water 💦 goal. Had a wonderful time, ate too much, drank too much Scared to see what the scale says tomorrow AM - but will leave it all behind -no known distractions until December 21.

Dec 2: 143.7 👣 🚶‍♀️‍➡️🏋️‍♀️💦 I guess it could have been a lot worse. Technically I am within the maintenance range of my goal weight, but I don't like going into the "overweight category" so am going to change that goal weight to 137, with a 3 pound window instead of a 5. So back in losing mode starting today. 15K 👣 Steps, 🚶‍♀️‍➡️3.5 Mile Walk, 35 Min 🏋️‍♀️.

Dec 3: 142.7 👣 🚶‍♀️‍➡️📝🥗 🫀💦 Losing some of the weekend binge (salt). Bingo night with Mom, saved room for the normal dessert - had a very small piece of left over pumpkin pie from Thanksgiving - but it fit in my calorie range! 21.2K Steps, 4.5 Mile 🚶‍♀️‍➡️walk, 40 Min 🫀 Cardio, 338 🥗 Calorie deficit.

12/2 - 158.8 ⬇️ Made it to the gym after work. Logged my food.
    12/3 - 158.6 ⬇️

    Hi everyone,

    February 29, 2008 - 217 (All-time highest weight before I joined)
    Goal Range - 132-140
    December Starting Weight - 152.2
December Goal - 148 (or less)

As expected, following yesterday's holiday party with my work associates, my weight did go up (a bit) overnight; however, I hope to get rid of that within 1-3 days.

Anyway, here's the update for today (in pounds):

    12/01 - 152.2
    12/02 - 153.2
    12/03 - 153.6

    Total UP/DOWN to date: UP - 1.4

My regular weekly weigh-in day is Wednesday so I hope by tomorrow morning I will be down from my 11/27 weight, which was 154.2. I'd be even happier to get back down to where I was on Sunday, but I'll take whatever progress I can make. I plan to be extra careful from now through the end of this year.

    Have a great day everyone!
    💗Carole
