Hello I'm Darlene, retired, 64-year-old. Married (Greg), one adult daughter (Allyson), and one goldendoodle (Monty). I skipped this challenge for November and it was an epic fail. The first month since I started this journey that I gained weight. So I am back , probably for the rest of my life LOL! Didn't meet a single goal yesterday, not even the water! First day of Christmas celebrations for me. Allyson came over early, then off to my sister's house. White elephant gift exchange and a few snacks. Then out to dinner last night. I didn't go overboard, but did indulge some. Didn't track anything. Today we are having Christmas at my house. Then out for lunch and then going to see Wiked. Probably won't be tracking today either - but hope to get at least a walk on the treadmill after the movie (when Allyson leaves for home).

I had a wonderful day yesterday and have no regrets. But now I need to get back on track. We have nine days left in December and there is no reason for me not to be be on track for eight of those. Still hoping for a negative month, but if I don't succeed I will not give in. I have am hoping to be in a negative situation this month. I will be strong the next two days, I'll have a small hiccup on Christmas and then it should be smooth sailing for a bit. My goal is to get to be back to ideal weight status by my two year weight loss journey anniversary on January 12.
It is a frigid 4 degrees this morning - so looking like all inside exercise today! My house looks a bomb went off it in - so cleaning up the mess today - that should count as some exercise too.[/quote]

We put a number on our gift. Then we picked numbers for the gift. After everyone got their gift, we pulled a "trade with" card out of a bag. - "Trade with the person you think would burn the Christmas Dinner", "Trade with the person who is the tallest", etc. etc. etc. etc. We did this for about 5 rounds and then whatever gift you had at the end was yours! It was fun. I ended up with a trunk organizer for my car - Greg got a digital picture frame. After the festivities, we went out for dinner at a nice restaurant!

Sunday was Christmas with Greg and Allyson - Nice day - opened presents in AM, then brought in pizza for lunch (I haven't had pizza in eons so it's what I wanted), and then we went to go see Wiked at the movie theater. I didn't realize they were doing it in two parts. I thought they did a really nice job with it, following the play pretty closely - but was disappointed that I have to wait a year to see the whole thing.
The holiday has not been the best for my weight loss journey - I am sitting on the top of my goal range - but since my goal weight was just at the "ideal weight" category I am technically back in the overweight stage. After the holiday is offically over, I am going to set a new goal weight of 137 pounds and have a three pound window (five would be too hard for me to come back from). I was back on track yesterday, cleaned up the Christmas chaos. Today am cooking for our Christmas get together tomorrow - hoping not to get too sidetracked.

Sometimes most of it will come right back off after 24 to 48 hours. I donβt expect that will easily happen this time as Iβve entered the baking section of my holidays and our Family Feast is on Saturday following all the baking and candy making. I imagine Iβll make most of my progress between Dec 29th and New Years if there is any to be made. I will try to stay sensible as often as I can. Tonight is movie night with my son. We will watch 2 Christmas movies choosing one each. There will be festive snacks. I want to make Christmas Day/night special even if itβs only just the two of us until Saturday. He is kind of stuck on traditions anyway due to the autism and the difficulty he has changing things up. I will try not to overeat. I will also try to watch my BLTβs (bites, licks, tastes) while baking today and in the coming days. No promises though. Just keeping it honest.
12/26-193.4-(Trend Weight 192.3)- Weight is exactly the same as yesterday and trend weight is creeping up. While Iβm not happy with the scale reading, I will take it as a win. Yesterday was day 1 of baking with 6 batches of random cookies. I ate 5 over the course of the day and called it my lunch. It was also a pasta and bread dinner and Christmas movie night with son. With all of that, no weight change truly is a win for me. Today, much more baking and leftover pasta for dinner. I donβt expect the scale to go down tomorrow but if I can just stay stable I will be ever so grateful. Looking forward to our Family Dinner & Party on Saturday. Lots of prep yet to do!

Then out for lunch and then going to see Wiked. Probably won't be tracking today either - but hope to get at least a walk on the treadmill after the movie (when Allyson leaves for home).

I had a wonderful day yesterday and have no regrets. But now I need to get back on track. We have nine days left in December and there is no reason for me not to be be on track for eight of those. Still hoping for a negative month, but if I don't succeed I will not give in. I have am hoping to be in a negative situation this month. I will be strong the next two days, I'll have a small hiccup on Christmas and then it should be smooth sailing for a bit. My goal is to get to be back to ideal weight status by my two year weight loss journey anniversary on January 12.
It is a frigid 4 degrees this morning - so looking like all inside exercise today! My house looks a bomb went off it in - so cleaning up the mess today - that should count as some exercise too.[/quote]

After everyone got their gift, we pulled a "trade with" card out of a bag. - "Trade with the person you think would burn the Christmas Dinner", "Trade with the person who is the tallest", etc. etc. etc. etc. We did this for about 5 rounds and then whatever gift you had at the end was yours! It was fun. I ended up with a trunk organizer for my car - Greg got a digital picture frame. After the festivities, we went out for dinner at a nice restaurant!

Sunday was Christmas with Greg and Allyson - Nice day - opened presents in AM, then brought in pizza for lunch (I haven't had pizza in eons so it's what I wanted), and then we went to go see Wiked at the movie theater. I didn't realize they were doing it in two parts. I thought they did a really nice job with it, following the play pretty closely - but was disappointed that I have to wait a year to see the whole thing.
The holiday has not been the best for my weight loss journey - I am sitting on the top of my goal range - but since my goal weight was just at the "ideal weight" category I am technically back in the overweight stage. After the holiday is offically over, I am going to set a new goal weight of 137 pounds and have a three pound window (five would be too hard for me to come back from). I was back on track yesterday, cleaned up the Christmas chaos. Today am cooking for our Christmas get together tomorrow - hoping not to get too sidetracked.

With all of that, no weight change truly is a win for me. Today, much more baking and leftover pasta for dinner. I donβt expect the scale to go down tomorrow but if I can just stay stable I will be ever so grateful. Looking forward to our Family Dinner & Party on Saturday. Lots of prep yet to do!

Another issue is that I was committed to only eating the cookies and lemon squares that fell apart when removing from the pans. My opportunity to taste test. It isnβt my fault so many broke! Okay, okay, so maybe itβs my fault I didnβt put a limit on that. Humphβ¦.facing the truth is hard but we choose our hard, right? Lots of housecleaning to do today as the family party and dinner is tomorrow. I canβt wait! I know it will be a lot of extra calories and carbs. Also wine and adult beverages I usually donβt have so itβs going to be a high count day tomorrow. Iβm not too worried though. It may take a week or two but Iβll have it back down in the 190 point anything range pretty quickly as I rededicate for 2025. Itβs nothing I canβt handle. Then Iβll move forward from there. Didn't meet a single goal yesterday, not even the water! First day of Christmas celebrations for me. Allyson came over early, then off to my sister's house. White elephant gift exchange and a few snacks. Then out to dinner last night. I didn't go overboard, but did indulge some. Didn't track anything. Today we are having Christmas at my house. Then out for lunch and then going to see Wiked. Probably won't be tracking today either - but hope to get at least a walk on the treadmill after the movie (when Allyson leaves for home).

I had a wonderful day yesterday and have no regrets. But now I need to get back on track. We have nine days left in December and there is no reason for me not to be be on track for eight of those. Still hoping for a negative month, but if I don't succeed I will not give in. I have am hoping to be in a negative situation this month. I will be strong the next two days, I'll have a small hiccup on Christmas and then it should be smooth sailing for a bit. My goal is to get to be back to ideal weight status by my two year weight loss journey anniversary on January 12.
It is a frigid 4 degrees this morning - so looking like all inside exercise today! My house looks a bomb went off it in - so cleaning up the mess today - that should count as some exercise too.[/quote]

After everyone got their gift, we pulled a "trade with" card out of a bag. - "Trade with the person you think would burn the Christmas Dinner", "Trade with the person who is the tallest", etc. etc. etc. etc. We did this for about 5 rounds and then whatever gift you had at the end was yours! It was fun. I ended up with a trunk organizer for my car - Greg got a digital picture frame. After the festivities, we went out for dinner at a nice restaurant!

Sunday was Christmas with Greg and Allyson - Nice day - opened presents in AM, then brought in pizza for lunch (I haven't had pizza in eons so it's what I wanted), and then we went to go see Wiked at the movie theater. I didn't realize they were doing it in two parts. I thought they did a really nice job with it, following the play pretty closely - but was disappointed that I have to wait a year to see the whole thing.
The holiday has not been the best for my weight loss journey - I am sitting on the top of my goal range - but since my goal weight was just at the "ideal weight" category I am technically back in the overweight stage. After the holiday is offically over, I am going to set a new goal weight of 137 pounds and have a three pound window (five would be too hard for me to come back from). I was back on track yesterday, cleaned up the Christmas chaos. Today am cooking for our Christmas get together tomorrow - hoping not to get too sidetracked.

Another issue is that I was committed to only eating the cookies and lemon squares that fell apart when removing from the pans. My opportunity to taste test. It isnβt my fault so many broke! Lots of housecleaning to do today as the family party and dinner is tomorrow. I canβt wait! I know it will be a lot of extra calories and carbs. Also wine and adult beverages I usually donβt have so itβs going to be a high count day tomorrow. Iβm not too worried though. It may take a week or two but Iβll have it back down in the 190 point anything range pretty quickly as I rededicate for 2025. Itβs nothing I canβt handle. Then Iβll move forward from there. T-plus 0.4 lbs gained with 5.6 pounds to go on the micro-mini goal. Double humphβ¦.

Getting back on track these past three days has really paid off. It feels great to be back in the swing of things. Now for my next goal, 137! Super happy today. I finished putting away all the boxes and presents and then got on a role and decided just to put everything away. Christmas is officially over in my house. Can't wait for the new year to start.

I won't be weighing in daily after this year, but I have started up an 11-week, weekly weigh-in challenge that will run from 01/01/25-03/19/25. It's called, "COUNTDOWN to S*P*R*I*N*G, 2025". I will bookmark the "January Daily Weigh-in and Logging Challenge" so I can stay in touch and see how everyone is doing.
It's hard to believe that, counting today, we have only three days left in the year! 2024 was rough, but I have high hopes for 2025. (Let's hope it's a good year!)

My December/2024 Reflection - A day early - but wrote it today so here it is!

December was a crazy month for sure. I had huge weight fluctuations this month, ranging from a low of 139 to almost 145 and then back again. The good news is that I lost weight this month. I reevaluated my goal weight and now am shooting for 137 pounds. Iβm thinking that this will ensure that I never go into the overweight category again.
I logged 230 miles in December. I signed up for the 2,025 in 2025 challenge again next year. It was a lot of fun and kept me moving.
I completed my 2,024 intentional mile goal. Although I met this goal, I am giving it up for 2025.
I had a wonderful holiday but am looking forward to what 2025 will bring!
2024 Reflection
Year two on this ride has been a whirlwind. It just fled by so fast. It seems like yesterday that I started this journey. I started the year with a 10K walk on January 1! A goal that I had been working on in the last quarter of 2023. It was fun, but Hubby and I decided that 6+ miles a day was a bit excessive, and after we reached that goal went back to our 3-mile AM walk!
I lost another twenty pounds in 2024, for a total of 88 pounds since I started. I made it to the βidealβ weight BMI and called it my goal. As I mentioned in my December write-up, I am tweaking that a bit so that I wonβt creep back into overweight again.
I continued with my favorite My Fitness Pal groups. I let all the others go. It is the right fit for me. They keep me motivated and accountable and make this journey fun at the same time. The people I have βmetβ on the groups have become somewhat of a second family, friends all working on the same goals, sharing great ideas, support, motivation, and accountability in such a nonjudgmental way. I wouldnβt be where I am without them.
I met my 2,024 in 2024 βall stepsβ goal on October 10, and my βIntentional Milesβ goal on December 19. As of this writing 2,750 "all step" miles, and 2,180 miles (43,600 minutes) of intentional exercise.
In May I tore the meniscus in my left knee, which limited my mobility. For about a month, seated exercise only. I had a couple of cortisone shots, which helped for a short time β then finally a gel injection in September which has been a godsend. No plans for any surgery, I also have moderate arthritis in my knees, the doctor says that the meniscus tear surgery tends to make the arthritis worse. So, if the gel shots continue to work, will continue down that path.
Had some fun this year β in February we rented a house in Winter Haven, Florida for the month. A lot of fun - visited our close friends and Aunt and Uncle who live there. In April we traveled to upstate New York to see the total Eclipse. I had never seen one, and it was an experience to remember. In June we took a trip to Hawaii, a wonderful experience. I needed my blue water fix. Our anniversary trip this year was just a quick weekend in Mystic, Connecticut but, it was extremely enjoyable. Then we went on our annual trip to Newport, Rhode Island to see the Christmas lights and do some shopping in December. I also had two girlsβ weekends away with my sisters, Aunt, and close friend. I always think we donβt do anything, but when I look back at the year it is a lot more than I remember.
What are my plans for 2025?
Exercise Goals- Continue to walk every day, with a goal of 40 miles per week
- 14K Steps per day, 100K Steps per week
- At least Three cardio (non-walk), Three Strength, and one Stretch type exercise weekly
- 700 Minutes of Intentional Exercise weekly
- Complete the Airline Trail again in the Spring
- I set a weekly calorie limit instead of daily one, until I hit my new goal weight will shoot for a 1,750-calorie deficit from my TDEE (minus 325). Iβve determined over the year that I cannot use the first 325 calories of exercise if I want to lose weight.
- 8 Classes of water Daily
- Track everything even when I reach my new goal weight
- Try a new recipe weekly
- Stay under 2,300 grams of sodium daily
Other- Weigh weekly instead of daily
- Continue with my favorite MFP groups, although I may cut back on my daily posting. Iβm trying to limit my screen time!
- Read a book a month
- Organize an area in my house weekly
- Pick up knitting again

Yes, you read that rightβ¦..only 50 more years to go based on how Iβve been doing. I turn 65 in May.
Now, to contend with all the leftover cookies, pies and fudge. Yes, everyone took some home. I will have to put my thinking cap on to figure this one out.

My DD and DGS have been here the past few days and my DGS really keeps me busy. Heartburn today and I didnβt sleep well last night. I will have to re-train myself to be hungry at appropriate hours!

@iLive2Walk Great December/year end reflections. I love the 3 pics. So telling. You are beautiful in all of them but the progress in your weight goals are very evident! Congratulations on a great year and a wonderful journey so far. I look forward to the lessons I will learn in your goals and posts regarding maintenance. There is not enough tracking and info on MFP on maintenance! Everyone is on their incredible journeys, but most people drop off once they've made goal. I look forward to seeing how you navigate this in 2025. As always, thanks for sharing!1

Hi everyone!
I wanted to do a quick check in before going to work. I will give the rest of the month later when I get home.
I gained 1.2 lbs overall for December with a ending weight of 160.2 lbs. I guess that is not too bad. I haven't been to the gym in two weeks and I'm not sure I will see it the month of January. January starts our overly busy time at work.
