If the scale is causing disordered behavior, then it's good to find some alternative.
I am curious though - why not just weigh yourself when you get up no matter what time it is? You don't have to wait until 08:00 to eat if you like to eat in the morning; just weigh yourself first. It's still going to be after you're done sleeping so will be somewhat consistent.
Do you weigh yourself if you sleep in later than normal?3 -

Because it’s inconsistent. I don’t really wanna weigh myself at 5am some days and 9am others. Later is fine because I’m more likely to see a loss.3 -
The other day, while walking in the park, I got catcalled by a couple 14 year olds (just guessing the age, obviously). Not something I need in my life, but I still think it counts as an NSV lol5

She (presumably) is the anxiety fairy, after all
Same here. I weigh several pounds more when I first get up than I do several hours later, even with a large breakfast and a couple quarts of water under (literally!) my belt.
I use the first morning weight to post on the challenge I’m in. If I used the second, I’d prob get congratulated for a whoosh, and it’s nothing like that. But man, that first weigh-in is like a roller coaster from day to day, depending on joint irritation level when I get up.7 -

Yesterday I got up at noon. 10 hours sleep. 3 pounds down.
Today 5 am. 3 hours sleep. Up 1 pound from average, up 4 pounds from yesterday.
Weight loss isn't a daily game. It's long-term. Until you get used to that and learn to relax, despite the roller coaster scale, sometimes you have to find ways to handle it mentally.
Stick with it @anxietyfairy. Just follow your plans and you'll succeed, long-term.
Are you using a weight averaging app? There are several good ones that often help with scale anxiety.

This week, I've been seeing several two-pound swings from one day to the next. Overall, I'm holding pretty steady. It helps that I've seen these large swings quite a few times in the past so they don't get in my head as bad as they might if I hadn't already experienced it several times. Day to day variation around here is HUGE.6

Most recent NSV - looking through my lifting notebook (I'm old-school, still record my sets on paper) and realizing that I've gotten very consistent this year with my strength training sessions. That is a win for me11

NSV - I accidentally bought a couple pairs of pants at size 18/20 (usually wore 22/24W). After 4 months of working on my diet and exercise, they fit without any issues (glad I didn't return them)! Now, I went back to that website and bought a couple more pairs on purpose. (on sale, and should be good for the next six months - hopefully no longer )8

Just ate like 1000 calories of chocolate, but am still in a deficit6

Felt like binging so did some googling about binge prevention then went to bed11
-
@anxietyfairy What did you learn in your googling?
Here are a couple resources that have helped me stop binging:- https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/48664748-allen-carr-s-easy-way-to-quit-emotional-eating (This book has changed my life, no exaggeration)
- https://brainoverbinge.com/ (I listened to the free podcast, haven't tried any of their fee-based stuff)

After a couple months traveling, followed by two or three ill with restrictions (worry about a potential retinal tear, foot and joint issue) I went back to yoga yesterday.
Tried a class several weeks ago, but had to modify heavily and eventually bail because of intense foot pain. Also cranked my neck trying not to keep my head horizontal and not down. Especially since the young lady I always put my mat by described her dad’s retinal tear. In great detail. Sobering.
Got eye doc clearance to start doing deep bends and inversions again. Yay!!!!!
Experimented with a class yesterday.
Was able to get and hold a headstand yesterday. I always worry I’ll lose the ability after a couple weeks travel, but this was several months.
Going to try doing classes again. Still modifying for foot pain, but OMg, just doing a forward fold felt wonderful.
Also got to do back extensions and was able to ask for the 25 after reassuring my trainer my eyeballs weren’t going to burst. I enjoy back extensions.
My NSV is that I never thought I’d miss looking down, and welcome back the ability to do so.15 -

It took months to years for all of these symptoms to go away, and sometimes the right-turn-while-lying-down is still problematic. The whole experience really was miserable. We don't realize how much we rely on such small movements until they suddenly become impossible!
I'm glad your eyeballs aren't going to burst and that you are able to get back into your yoga classes. I had to give up my favorite exercise (water aerobics) for several months last year due to health issues, and man that throws a wrench in the gears! But we both got back up and kept going, and that is another NSV we get to enjoy6 -
I am sticking with running, 5K each time I run.8

More definition in my mid section6

I was sick yesterday and couldn’t go for a walk and managed to stick to a calorie deficit anyway.7

We go out for doughnuts every Sunday morning. I was lying in bed this morning, silently thinking “only an hour til I have a doughnut in my mouth!”
Because I’m just wierd that way. 🤦🏻♀️
But when we got there, the Apple fritters were so tiny that my cheap side said “$4.50? Heck NO!” and the other doughnut flavors were so bland compared to the recent lovely holiday offerings, that we got my husbands fritter, but I came home and had cottage cheese with meusli and honey, and some bacon.7 -
Too hot to walk outside so I walked around the mall. Managed to fit some buttered popcorn and peanut butter cups into my daily deficit.4
-
Today's snow (at least 8 inches) made wearing a coat non-optional. When I put on my winter coat today, it Zipped Up All The Way. I have avoided wearing it for... a couple years... because it wouldn't close in front, let alone zip. Wonderful feeling.14

I am able to get up and down off the floor more easily. During Christmas it was still a struggle. This week it was so much easier.9

I fit into medium size pants from two different stores. I used to need large. Still my lower body is smaller than my upper body. I’m still a large of even XL in tops but those tops are much looser on me now.

It would seem that I have finally learned how to have a small treat (a piece of chocolate, most days) without going off the rails. I enjoy it and then I’m done and I don’t go back for more until it’s all devoured in a frenzy, the way I used to. I think I have finally broken the cycle of cravings and binges.
It took a complete lifestyle change to get to this point — including therapy (not directly eating related), treatment for ADHD & related mental health issues, 18 months of daily food & weight tracking, building a regular exercise routine I enjoy, an assertiveness class, a few books, learning about binge eating behavior, a hysterectomy, and 18 months of daily check-ins with a group here on MFP 😮💨😁
This is the biggest accomplishment of my life. A lot of work! but so, so worth it.
If you’re reading this and you think you can’t win this fight, I want you to know that you can. Your puzzle pieces will probably look different from mine. Pick up one at a time and keep going until you can see the whole picture. You got this.12 -
Thank you for sharing this @takinitalloff
It's easy to get frustrated and go off the rails. The trick is to see when it starts to happen and make changes sooner rather than later. Practice practice practice. Sometimes you'll still fail to get it right, but it's really just a temporary situation.
STICK TO IT!3 -

Love the whole post, but this part particularly resonates.so true! Well said!!!

I restarted with a vengeance before Christmas and am making progress, today I had to return a pair of trousers as they were too big so I needed a smaller size.
Also, I love Krispy Kreme and cinnamon, they've brought out a cinnamon range. Today I picked up a pack of 3 but then put it back - that is a massive deal for me, I would have eaten one in the car normally.9 -
Ran 5k this morning, been a while.9

Declined takeaway (I get offered it 3 times a week) since new year 💪🏻7

Yesterday the city was shut down for snow. I celebrated by sitting on my bottom most the day and eating celebratory chocolate, fancy cheese, and scones. Snow is a BIG DEAL here. Celebrating it, with sweets, snacks and other yummy food is the order of the day. It’s what we do here.
City remained mostly closed today due to ice. Did a zoom yoga, 70 minutes on the exercise bike, aced a chore that’s been silently, judgily teetering on a counter for months, am half way through another that’s been nagging me for years, and see an end game for a large box of papers that have been hiding in the garage needing to be dealt with.
Also planned ahead, based on weather forecast, so we could enjoy awesome homemade low cal fajitas.
My NSV is I did not sit on my bottom today and I got some serious To-Do’s accomplished! (While not going wildly over calories like yesterday’s snow celebration!)7 -

So once a day (usually) I get up and walk around my place, looking for an ANNOYANCE to remove from my life. Things I've been looking at for a while, thinking "mañana" each time. Sometimes it's a quick, small thing like tidying up a couple things that are out of place, or cleaning a grubby light switch. Sometimes it snowballs into an all-day project. But whatever it turns out to be, by the time it's complete, I feel lighter and happier. The compound effect of doing this for several months is really making a difference in my life.
Kudos to you for making the best of your snow days. Way to go!10
