Hard to stay on track when you are out of your routine. I'm sure you will see a difference next week. Actually I think you did good with only a .4 increase.
Off for groceries this morning. Told hubby we will stop for lunch before driving back. I don't think one fast food lunch is going to make a big difference in my overall weight loss plan. Will probably be up a bit due to salt but I know it will come back down. Have now lost 12 pounds from my all time high in July of last year so 26 more to go.
A clothing store in Canada is closing down and it is one that I liked to order clothes online from. Sad to see that but I guess it is harder and harder for retailers to compete. I still have one Canadian store that I like for clothes and know what sizes to order from them. Problem for me is pants as they are usually way too long....I'm 5'4".0 -
I have the opposite problem with pants. My inseam is 32. Regular pants are 31 and tall sizes are 33. I get tall sizes and hem them. Lately, I have been getting boot cut fleece lined pants from RBX. Website says it is a 31 inseam, but I have bought 3 pairs and they are all 32 and perfect length on me.0

Back from nice trip but now have a nasty cold. I ate a lot and walked a lot. Such is NYC. Too exhausted to write more.1
-
Hope you get over your cold quickly.
Bought some cans of diet pepsi in the mini size. Trying to cut down on drinking diet pepsi as I know it is not a good drink choice but is a habit that I am struggling with. The smaller size should help (hopefully).
We have a herd of elk that have been showing up on our field right across from the house every evening for the past week. So nice to see. Have noticed that vehicles are slowing down when they spot them. Have counted 24.1 -
Glad you had a nice trip but sorry you came home with a cold. Hope you get over it quickly. A lot of nasty viruses are circulating right now.
How blessed you are Joy to see elk in the wild. They have been reintroduced to Virginia but I havent seen one yet.0 -
Yes lots of viruses. Wish I could get better and exercise!!!
Elk are amazing and so majestic. I hope they can do well in the East.0 -
Quite a few kids getting sick now in the schools and I certainly keep that in mind when out and about. Hope you get over it soon.
Such a tragedy in the skies today. Sad for all affected.
We are under another snowfall event with temps plunging back down to close to minus 30 by the weekend.
Our elk are so nice to watch. They seem to be thriving as they don’t appear to have any predators that I know of. No one is allowed to hunt in our area either. Doing well in the west (Alberta).0 -
Just saw in our local paper that three area schools shut down this week because of flu. Evidently, it is rampant.
I was a slug today. Stayed up too late last night and was just worthless all day. I am going to bed early so I can try to do better tomorrow. It’s raining, so no outside exercise but we need the rain to control a couple of wildfires in a nearby county. Tomorrow I plan to tackle the mess in my laundry room and drop off more donations.0 -
Snowing and blowing here this morning. Looks like it will last for a few days.
Went through my seed catalogue and put an order in for my garden seeds. Looking forward to spring.0 -
I should order a seed catalogue and make some plans. My local seed supplier went to some gratitude based plan and no longer sells seeds. They give them away, instead! Sounds noble, but I am unsure how I really am supposed to find their seeds.
Feeling slightly better today, just trying to not push myself.
If I watched TV news I would want to crawl under a rock. Just keeping up on the internet is bad enough.
Rain all day has turned to snow now.

What a beautiful photo! Thank you for posting.
Keep bouncing between 177/176 so doesn't look like any weight loss this week. Was hoping to be down to 175 by the end of January but that didn't happen. Will see what next week brings. Got quite a bit of snow here and hubby has about 8 inches to blow out. Still snowing but he said will blow it out this afternoon. Our little 18 pound dog will appreciate that I'm sure.
Put in an order for more coffee beans from Amazon as it looks like prices will go up. Will have a nice stockpile and may put some in the freezer.0 -
Gorgeous photography! The colors in that picture are so saturated! How do you do that?
Grandson #6 told me 8 children were absent from his first grade class yesterday. There are 24 kids in the class. Seems to me this is a high enough percentage to shut down And scrub that school. I am eating zicam and airborne in case he is incubating something nasty. I had him and his older brother today. Older brother had a basketball game. 5 out of 13 kids were out sick for that! I have been washing my hands like crazy.
I cant decide if I want to do my Monday weigh in or not. I haven’t been all that good….1 -
Haven’t weighed or exercised due to this virus that seems to be absolutely everywhere!
I am getting better just in time for wintry mix season—snow then rain. Yesterday was rain then snow.
Thx about the photo. Honestly the only thing I enhanced was to take out the dirt spots on the train window away. The colors are true life. It was so beautiful that day. That route is about 90 miles of riverside scenery followed by 15 minutes of dingy subway underbelly at the end.
I stocked up on maple syrup because who knows? And they make my favorite box cereal in Canada. Not much place to store cereal in my house. I am very much of the opinion of that meme that said I am done with my free upgrade version 2025 and I want the old version back. If it weren't for family, friends, and nature…0 -
So cold here at close to minus 30 celcius. Another couple of days and we should be making our way out of this deep freeze (hopefully). Still haven't booked my trip for this year. The company I was looking at for the tour of Quebec still doesn't show guaranteed departures for June which is when I like to travel. May have to change my plans and go back to the maritime provinces with the same company I traveled with last year for my Newfoundland trip. They have one that is for Prince Edward Island and Cape Breton which sounds like one I would enjoy. Their tours have guaranteed departures. Will leave it a few more days then book as I want to book my air fare at the same time.
Thought about a trip to Europe but with our dollar tanking I think I will stick to travel domestically.
Had some sweet bread and butter pickles with my sandwich for lunch then thought to check the label on the jar for sugar....8 pieces equals 6 grams of sugar! So much sugar in things that I forget to check. Overall I think I'm doing pretty good with watching my sugar intake but got derailed with a few pickles.0 -
I have wanted to visit PEI since reading Anne of Green Gables as a child. That would be a lovely trip!
Thanks for the heads up on B&B pickles. I eat them all the time and should have checked. I have some dill pickles, but dont like them half as much.
No exercise today unless I can count rearranging furniture in the bedroom. Whew!
I have to look up what minus 30 C is in Farenheit. I am so sick of winter. It was in the 40s F here today and I was still cold.0 -
I have been to the green gables house! Also to Cape Breton which is so beautiful. But a long car ride for us. Cannot believe we drove 1000 miles with two kids, but it was one of our best family vacations ever.
Trying to not eat much, but it is so hard!

Another cold morning and I am also sick of it although for us it has been relatively mild overall. The cold we are getting only lasts for a few days. Some years it hangs on for weeks at a time.
I had heard that Cape Breton is beautiful. I have been to Prince Edward Island with hubby years ago but we only saw a small portion.
Couldn't believe how much sugar in those pickles. Have to do a bit of research and see how much sugar a prediabetic should actually consume. Probably not much.1 -
Still cold. School buses are not running due to the extreme weather. With the windchill it is close to -40C.
Did a bit of research and it looks like the recommendation for pre diabetic is no more than 6 teaspoons of sugar per day. It's not really straight forward though as it depends on calories consumed per day and your overall health, weight, etc. Also the amount excludes natural sugars (like in milk which has 12 grams per cup for 2%). Thought it was interesting. I am under that amount even with the pickle incident but I can see that adding any type of sugar treat...like a cookie, cake, etc, would put me over I'm sure. Weight is still staying the same.
Have to go to town this afternoon as need to pick up a prescription from the drugstore and also get some bird seed as we are almost out. Birds are really going through the seeds during this cold spell.1 -
My only Canadian vacation was to British Columbia, unless I can count crossing the border in Maine to visit Campobello Island on a day trip. I would love to hit all the high spots. Canada has such beautiful scenery and is so rich in history.
My Kroger store has sugar free bread and butter pickles. I dont do artificial sweeteners, but if you do, there is that option. My crankly post gall bladder surgery digestive system cant handle the artificial sweeteners.0 -
I did switch to stevia for tea, but still want sugar for coffee. I would rather have no sugar than artificial stuff.
We have seen a lot of birds at our feeder, too!
We have seen an awful lot of Canada—Maritimes, Ontario, Quebec, Sask., Alberta and the mountain part of BC. Still have not seen Newfoundland, the area around Vancouver, or parts farther north. And somehow never made it to Manitoba when we lived in Minnesota.
Scale finally liked me better and I finally got a walk in! And saw a bald eagle.
2 -
Good the scale like you. Eagles are amazing to see. In Alberta we have the bald and golden eagles and where I live we have the golden eagle.
I like to stay away from artificial sweeteners for the most part. One exception is my diet pepsi but I have curtailed it a bit by switching to the mini cans. I don't drink a lot of it...probably about 3 tins a week which isn't too bad but still not a healthy food/drink choice. I don't use any sweetener in tea or coffee and just add a bit of milk. I have been thinking about stevia and may use that for baking (substituting some of the sugar) once I get my sugar levels back down to normal. For now no added sugar from sweets.
Did a little happy dance this morning as I am down another pound. That makes 13 down from my all time high weight.3 -
Finally out of the deep freeze here and it feels so good.
Off to town this morning as didn't go the other day due to extreme cold. Nice sunny day and going to enjoy it.1 -
Well it warmed up but the snow is now crunchy with ice under it. No walk today.
Doing great with that scale, Joy!
Made corn chowder and yogurt. Trying to get mildew off basement walls. Such a job!
0 -
So many people in town yesterday. Don't often see that but I think people we just happy to feel the warmer weather.
Like corn chowder but haven't made it for awhile. I'm sure you will get a good workout cleaning the mildew...not a pleasant task I'm sure.1
