Today I learned that we have had 41 consecutive days with at least a trace of snow.
Really craving more food tonight. Need a little something, something light. Argh.0 -
Now that you
Have shared your 41 days, I feel like I should quit whining when Virginia has a snow day 😂
I have been so bad about not logging calories and not even attempting exercis on cold days. I need to quit being so lazy. I am 72 years old . If I don’t get in shape pretty soon, I am going to reach the point of no return. Time to get my act together.
Goal for tomorrow is to organize the workshop and make a list of hardware needed to get the tools up on a pegboard.

I get cravings occasionally also and mostly for something sweet.
Off to pick up the mail this morning. Had ordered a pair of gold stud earrings for my granddaughter but when they came I thought they looked too big so sent them back and ordered her a pair of huggie hoops. They are in the mail and hopefully they will be good. Need to get her birthday package shipped to her next week.
Fantastic hockey game last night. Both sides played so well.
Finally warmed up here again. We have gone through a couple of weeks of brutal cold with temps close to minus 40 C with the wind chill. It is now a balmy minus 2 C this morning.1 -
Did a one mile cardio walk with Leslie Sansone on youtube. Not much, but it’s a start. Now if I can just be intentional with tracking food, this can be a good day. I have to fight the urge to sit on the couch with a new library book. I think I am just lazy at heart.0
-
Yes congrats to Canada on the hockey!
No walk today. Mental health time looking at flowering bulbs at a local museum. Forgot problems for a while. The flowers were stunning.
Two days behind on weights. Really need some decent sleep.
0 -
Good to take a mental health break. I'm sure the bulbs were beautiful.
Nothing happening on the scale but I am patiently waiting for a drop. Been fluttering between 175 and 176. Still just keeping to my program of healthy food choices (no sugar) and calories at 1200/day.
Getting caught up on laundry today.0 -
First day of no snow! Went for a brief walk in some woods.
It is a lot of effort to stick to the plan. You are doing well!

Glad to read no snow for you and you were able to get out for a walk.
Made fried rice yesterday for supper. Recipe was called emergency dump and bake fried rice. Very good. Used some sugar in it as I added one tablespoon of mirin which has 6 grams. Overall not too bad though as made quite a large casserole. Had it with some leftover chicken from yesterday. Hubby liked it as I noticed he took some more later in the evening as a snack.
Warming up here and enjoying it.1 -
Joy, we love fried rice. Do you mind sharing your recipe?
0 -
I love fried rice but hubby not so much. He will eat grain bowls…seems similar but oh well.
Visited friends in the country and then hiked along a Finger Lake. It was so peaceful. This trail was all state forest land, so no vacation cottages to be found. Must try to visit in the spring and search for waterfalls.

The dreaded Momday weigh in wasnt so bad today. Down two pounds. Still need to work on getting exercise minutes up to snuff, but I am doing better at controlling the calories. I appreciate the encouragement I find on this group.
Fly lady says zone 5 this week. I am still in declutter mode, so declutter I shall. 😊1 -
The fried rice recipe is on recipetineats.com under emergency dump and bake fried rice if you want to check it out. Too long to post.
Cat so good to be down 2 pounds! Congrats on that. I’m still very slowly inching downwards.
Melody, your hike sounds perfect. I’m so looking forward to getting out more once our snow goes.
Booked our little poodle/terrier Lucy for a much needed groom March 4th.

Two pounds sounds heavenly!
Another slushy walk today. Hubby met a walker near our house. This lady told him she tried to walk 8 miles a day!!! I feel like a slacker.0 -
My dog groomer had to cancel appointment for next week. She is pregnant with first child and having some health issues. Closing her business. I called a groomer in another town and booked for March 11th. Said she is getting calls from people in my area.
Off grocery shopping tomorrow. Takes a bit longer to do shopping as reading labels to make sure products are Canadian made or at least prepared in Canada. There is a strong movement in Canada to shop this way. Such turmoil has been created and so sad to see.1 -
I feel so sad about these crazy tariffs!!!
It didn’t have to be this way. Hoping my country will be a good neighbor again. Watched my congressperson at a web town hall last night. Many people are upset and trying to figure out what they can do.
I try to read the news and then figure out how to destress. I have colored 2/3 of a coloring book in the past two weeks. Cooked a lot. Walked a lot. Decluttered a lot. Whacked at the basement ceiling. Anything to keep from crying.

Melody, extremely stressful time for both countries I am sure. Did well grocery shopping today and happy that the only product that I had to buy U.S. was a bag of popping corn. Had been searching online for that item from Canada and was quite surprised that peanuts are grown in Ontario. I never knew that. When I checked the shipping rate to my rural Alberta location, it was $20 shipping for a $12 item so obviously not going that route.
Tariffs are not going to be good for either country in my opinion. We went through tariffs before and survived so I am sure we will again. Talk of this has been going on for so long in a way I wish it was just done and then we can all deal with the consequences.
Sunny day today. It was nice to get out and enjoy it.0 -
Walk along the lake, avant garde vocal group at night. Not losing weight.
More contacting congress people. More doomscrolling.
God bless Ukraine. Mother’s ancestral homeland. I was so close to visiting then hubby surgery and Covid came along.

Hubby is Ukrainian. Can still speak it a bit and is able to understand when listening to a conversation. Both of his grandparents immigrated to Canada.
My weight is staying the same too. Keep up with your walking and I'm sure you will see results. Need to get my overdue mammogram done. Have the dr's referral slip and just need to give the clinic a call and book. Will try to do that in the next week.
Another warmish day and the snow is slowly melting in spots. So looking forward to spring.0 -
Slava Ukrainii to your hubby! I know many Ukrainians went to Canada.
On my mother’s side they were always saying they were Polish but living outside of Lviv there was so much intermarriage that I have many Ukrainian ancestors too. It is hard to figure the percentages because there was a tradition that boys would take the father’s church and girls would take the mother’s church. After a couple of generations of that it gets confusing!
I have to schedule doctor visits too.
Today was horrifically windy and it was too cold to walk. My stress level would be better if I could have walked.0 -
I found that exercise is a good stress reliever.
Started on our income tax forms and completed the big part which is our income and expense statement for our farming operation. Glad that's done. Will tackle the rest of the form during the week. I'm getting a refund so want to get it filed as quickly as possible.
Weight is still staying the same and getting a bit annoyed but will stay the course. Seems to be stuck on 175 and has been for the past 3 weeks.0 -
Yes, taxes. Was so worried they would not send our refund this year, but we did get it.
Sometimes the weight plateaus for a while. Aggravating. I’m lucky to stay within a couple of pounds, but that is not the weight loss I want.
Was so happy there were around 1000 people at the support Ukraine rally. Loved seeing all the yellow and blue.0 -
Weight stayed the same. Goal for this week is to walk every day.
Making Greek chicken for lunch.
Running errands this afternoon.
I am glad my husband does our taxes. I would not know where to begin. I was an English major. We don’t like math. 😂
Finished knitting a Maltese Fisherman’s Hat requested by son #1. Going to start a sweater for an American Girl doll tonight. The granddaughter has a birthday next week. I have already sewn some Barbie outfits. All my hobbies are sedentary. 😕. No wonder I don’t lose weight.0 -
Finally down slightly (.4 of a pound). It has been a long 3 weeks but I know this happens sometimes. Hopefully it will stay down and not start bouncing around again.
Melody, heartwarming to hear that so many were at the rally.
Cat, what a wonderful birthday gift for your granddaughter. Had to look up what a Maltese Fisherman's Hat was. You are very talented.0 -
Just got back from a twilight walk. First time in a while I could walk in sneakers instead of boots.
Went to a knitting group today and someone had crocheted a bunch of little ducks for kids. I have never tried crocheting animals.
The hat sounds really nice.

Nice, sunny day today. Still have too much snow to walk outside but looking forward to that.
Ordered a new pair of sneakers. I have been using an older pair on my treadmill and finding the bottom of my foot is getting a bit sore. Think I need something with more cushioning. Went with Hoka Rincon 4 brand and will see what they are like. Should get them early next week and if they aren't good I can send them back.0 -
Good and comfy shoes are so important!
Tried the old people yoga class today. Back is a little stiff from it but I really need to do some stretching so will try again next week.Broke down and had a doughnut for Mardi Gras. Went to a free talk about displaying scientific data through fiber arts.
Avoiding political chatter the rest of the day. Not that much of a masochist.
0 -
cutious: How does one display scientific data through fiber arts and why do we wish to do this? That topic certainly caught my attention.
0 -
This scientist and fiber artist uses charts and other data and interprets them in knitting and crochet. There are examples in this gallery. She is creating patterns based on climate change, invasive species, pollutants, ice fishing seasons… so much! And her work is top notch! She documents progress like in the Cuyahoga River. it was fascinating. It is a way to make science in an understandable visual way that people can touch.

thanks for sharing this info. It really is fascinating. My knitting group did this in an elementary way years ago. We made temperature scarves over the course of a year. Each temperature range had a certain color and we did six rows in that day’s color every day for a year.

Checked out the posted link and it is fascinating. Thanks for posting.
