Loving these MFP updates …..*NOT*
@chicbuc ~ I just started sneezing as i read your post and it feels like "something" vs just a sneeze! Emergenc-C here I come. Sorry you're feeling bad. Hopefully it passes quickly.
@sunnydays930 ~ Good luck to you. I hope you're feeling better.
@globalhiker ~ thanks for keeping us in your prayers. I hope you get some sleep.
@surfergirl1982 ~ so far so good. I read Allen Carr's book on drinking. It's an interesting read.

OMG… what day is it? I think I fell off the planet.
I’ll be honest, not 100% sure what my A vs. AF is. I haven’t had more than a glass or two and not every night. I just lost track. Currently working 2 jobs at the same time, so I’m exhausted and have no idea what I’m doing half the time. But, I’m here, and I’m doing the best I can.

OMG - this is me exactly! And thank you for putting it into actual words since I had none to describe what I've been feeling!
Hope to be back to earth tomorrow and actually post something.

2 AF 3A
Today begins Lent - I'm giving up wine which should significantly cut my A consumption since that's my usual drink.

Accountability ~
▪︎Alcohol free thus far into March
▪︎This is week number 6 of my 12 weeks to get back into shape pledge. HALF WAY THERE ALREADY.
▪︎Got back into jotting down every morsel of food I consume. Another eye opener as I knew it would be. (Darn that free gelato my husband brings home from work)
▪︎Workouts produce endorphins in me which help with my mood and then motivate my movement which creates the fuel needed to burn these stubborn calories.
Sometimes I just need to write it all out and put it out here so I can reinforce my commitments to myself.

@MissMay I bet you are happy with your In-Shape commitment! That’s the name of my gym :). Excited for you.
Agree this new formatting on MFP is pretty frustrating- especially the spacing and copy and past feature.I know there are some instructions posted for the changes - will share if I can find them.
4 -
Actually information on changes is right at the top of this page! Not that it will lead to any better outcomes but…..

AF last night after a late chiropractic appointment. Learning to change my rituals into more mindful decisions. Tonight is a little planned wine - going to try a new varietal with a seafood dinner so not sure what that is yet.
Still love club soda and cran or a recess on nights off….but getting tired of hot tea!
We’re in for some sunny days over the weekend before more rain ☔️.
For lent I’m giving up “Doom Scrolling” - a term I found on ideas for unique Lent ideas. So taking a much needed break from Instagram and FB as part of my daily routine. Will keep my social accountability groups like this one but that’s it.Take good care of yourself today.

I haven't used the new format much yet. But, so far, I like it.
FYI…I've been meaning to mention this for a while (before the update). But, usernames are case-sensitive. I have my account set up to get a notification if someone mentions me in a post. And, I've noticed that if someone mentions me in all lower case, I don't get a notification. For instance, if someone's username is UserName, if you type @username (instead of @UserName), the person will not get a notification. I know it's minor. But, I just thought I'd share.
Also, there is not longer a preview comment button. But, after you post, if you would like to change something in your post, just click on the ellipse inside the circle, in the upper right corner of your post. You can then edit your post. Before the update, you had one hour to do so. I'm not sure. But, it's most likely the same.
PS…I'm using the website version. So it may be different on your phones. Phones are too small for me. My vision isn't the greatest, my fingers are too big, and the keyboard is too small ☹️

@Michieb125 thanks for the info on the new update. For some reason my phone has been super sensitive to the MFP update. Here on my laptop, it is not an issue. Now that I see all the features on the "big screen" it is better. Love the new emojis for quick add.
Thanks for the workout kudos 🏊♀️🏋️♀️🚶♂️ So the name of your gym is In-Shape? Is it part of the Silver Sneakers incentive through your insurance? I have very limited Silver Sneakers places in my area and really wish the aquatics place I attend M-F would get on that program. It is so beneficial to older folks.

I mentioned that I started buying Kindle books and reading them on my desktop. I recently bought several regular books. But the font wasn't large enough and/or the lighting wasn't the best. But I'm actually enjoying reading again. Remember all the times that I said I was bored? Well, I'm actually enjoying myself.
I also have books in my Kindle library that I've never read. I like reading diet, nutrition and exercise books; true crime and even some fiction from time to time. I've never been a big reader, but my favorite fiction book was "The Shining". I was laid up from an injury at the time that I read it. And, the book was so much better than the movie.
I'm still reading the book by Craig Beck, "Alcohol Lied to Me". I'm only on chapter 3. But so far, I'm enjoying it. I would highly recommend it to those that like to read.
I'm drinking today, but I don't plan on having any alcohol in the house in the morning. I still need to go to the lab for my test. I hoping I'll be able to get that done in the morning. If I feel the physical need to drink, I will buy something on the way home. But, reading this book, is really motivating me. So I should be starting on a new streak soon! I haven't had a good streak in a while. And, streaks really do feel good. They make you feel accomplished.
I hope everyone is doing well. And those of you with bugs are feeling better. Have a nice day everyone!
My horrible March stats:
AF - 0; A - 6

3 AF 3A
(A means 3+; LA means 1-2; and AF means none)

Well, I'm still reading the book. But I'm getting bored. I just want the facts. It seems I'm still not much of a reader. That's how books are…a 200-page book could be summarized in 20 pages. I guess that's why they had Cliff notes?
Update: I came back to edit this post. I basically just skimmed through the book (Craig Beck). The first couple of chapters offered some insight that I could relate to. But, after that, I didn't see much that was helpful for my circumstances. But, like I said, I got bored with it and just skimmed through it. Oh well! I've got other books to read in the future!

I started my weightloss journey today. That entails cutting back on my weekend drinking. I don't know if I will be AF in March, but definitely alcohol less. I do have a wedding next week, but I'm not even sure there will be drinks there.

I’m so glad I’m not alone!
Spoke to my management today for both my positions, and they just have so much confidence in me. I don’t know why other than I just try to do what I’m hired to do and take ownership of my actions. If I screw up, I say I screwed up. I ask questions I think are dumb all the time. People ask my opinion I give it. If I’m confused or lost, I say so and try to get help. Anyway, all that to say they have a lot of confidence in a person who doesn’t know what the hell she’s doing!🤣🤣I had wine last night, and didn’t finish my 2nd glass. As a matter of fact, I dumped it out. I don’t know if I’ll drink during Lent. Honestly, I probably will.
My Lenten fast is to not be so judgmental and critical of people. I have noticed lately that I’m a judgy *kitten*! I may not vocalize my judgements or criticisms, but my mind is constantly racing with them. I’ve got to stop doing that. I think I’m going to force myself to think 2 positives thoughts about a person after I’ve had a negative thought about them and if appropriate vocalize the positive to the person.8 -
I have trouble sticking with books. I currently have 8 books on my side table that I have started, and I can’t seem to finish. I’ve been trying to read one of them for about 2 years now. One of them is even a quote a day thing, and I’ve had it for 3 years and have yet to read every quote. 🤦🏻♀️

@NonnieDoiron Well, I don't feel so alone. That's what I do. I buy books and never read them…I've done it for years! The only books that I do read are exercise books. When I was younger and living at my Mom's house, I was in my bedroom, sitting in one of those low beach chairs reading a book called "Body for Life". I probably got it from the library. My older brother was there that weekend and he occasionally would walk by my bedroom to use the bathroom. After several hours, he asked, "What are you reading?" It's an old book. But I couldn't put it down. And, the other book that I mentioned that I read was "The Shining". I started reading it in the breakroom at work. Then I had an unfortunate accident and had a plaster cast from my foot up to my behind. So, my mom went and bought it for me. It was a good book. And, besides, I really couldn't go very far.

Hi @MissMay yes, the club is In-Shape and many insurance companies (I can think of Medicare/UHC right now) offer their fitness program as part of their specific plans. Silver Sneakers is one of them. My husband pays nothing since he chose the plan that includes it. I have a different plan but gladly pay the $69.00 a month. The gym is full of folks our age all day - I love it! It’s a very healthy feeling showing up in that type of environment and they offer a wide range of classes for young to older adults and the popular aquatics classes too.

Self-Rant: Almost lost it today and almost drank but didn't. The scene was a planned outing at our local Mex. restaurant for happy hour specials. It was unexpectedly raining cats and dogs all day so everyone in the neighborhood must've had the same idea as us. The place was overflowing with people at 3pm in the afternoon. Yes, 3pm. So after 15 min, they sat us in their separate breakfast section with ZERO atmosphere, nobody there and sterile bright lights with no music. I didn't get my ambiance and twinkling lights and good music and the happy chatter. I wanted to go home but husband insisted on sticking it out. And it was freezing cold since deliveries were being made thru the very open back door. It all super sucked and my brain kept saying, get a margarita, get a bourbon and diet coke, or maybe get a shot of tequila. Just do it. Just do it. You can. Over and over and over again. I powered thru with my diet coke, unhappily, and now safe at home nursing a decaf coffee to warm up and chewing on my little chocolate chips. UGH. I knew there would be challenge days like this. You know, my fault for 1) skipping lunch and 2) skipping my exercise due to weather excuses and 3) going out to Friday happy hour when I am on a diet anyway. I guess I shoulda known better that it would throw off my blood sugar and weaken me. In the end, I didn't drink, but I am not happy about having to hang out with the wine devil that still lives within.

March 1 -A
March 2-7 AF
I have my husband's birthday, St. Pat's Day, then our anniversary all within a week and can't drink for any of them since it is Lent and I am sticking to my guns on this. However my sweet tooth had me in a bakery today and I spent way too much money on carbs and buttery sugar goodness. Yum.
My dizziness and vertigo seems to have resolved itself, thank God. I got blood work today (before the bakery) so we will see what my liver values, cholesterol, and all those things we have going on inside look like. I really hope everything is better as I would love to get off my statins for cholesterol.
I've got the 3 grands tomorrow night. My house will look like a toy factory exploded but that's OK. These years when they want to be around their grandparents go by fast. I am enjoying it. :)

People are doing it, I see. Some great stories above.
I was mostly dry in Jan-Feb. I had kind of a boozy prior weekend. Now I’m into Friday and I decided to do an hour on the spin bike rather than drink beer. It gives a nice buzz!
Best resolve to everyone.
