after six months of low carb dieting I finally tested with a normal blood sugar this morning!!!!
From an A1C of 10.4 and blood sugar readings as high at 300 now finally back to normal. And all without drugs. I still have three pounds to lose to be at (the high end) of normal weight and normal BMI but THIS reading was what I really was working for!!!😀😅🙏

I didn’t feel like taking my run this morning, heavy legs from leg day yesterday, but I did it anyways! 🙌. That’s a small victory.

I'd gained three pounds in 5 weeks this morning. I had felt heavier and before I weighed myself, I gave myself new weight parameters based on becoming accustomed to my new maintenance weight. I was thrilled to have gained less than I thought. My NSV is coming home and adding a second exercise session to my day...for a total of 60 minutes. I'll be adding a 2nd moderate exercise session and weighing myself weekly from now on. I'd only been weighing myself monthly and I need to monitor that a little more carefully. 😒 Weight loss journeys are so personal yet we can ALL relate to everyone's victory! @springlering62 YES!! BEAUTIFUL!! In December we were in Quebec City and I found a gorgeous Italian wool sweater in a boutique. It was TINY and they had 2 sizes left....a M and an XS. I tried on the M rather nervously....putting trust in my 50 pound plus weight loss. It fits like a custom sweater....when I stepped out of the room several people stopped and stared and my husband's voice was heard....."Oh YEAH !! BUY IT!!" 😆 It was on clearance 50% off and just couldn't resist! I feel so sexy when I wear it. 😇

@Lady_Magenta thanks for continuing to post that this is a lifestyle not a diet! That phrase has been on my mind and heart for the last two weeks. Each of us are walking out our own journey.
I had an aha moment while walking this morning.
Often I am looking for the finish line. I realized I need to enjoy the journey. I have been making good strides through the years of learning about myself and why I do what I do especially with regard to food and exercise or lack there of.
When I was younger, I was in a healthy weight range, yet as I compared myself to my peers, I thought I was heavy or fat. Now I am indeed overweight.
Each day is a chance to make better choices and lifestyle changes that will help achieve long-term success.
Here’s to success for all of us 🔥!12 -
I've lost enough weight overall....began at 188....now at 139.....that my facial features have changed. I've always had hazel eyes....gold brown with green around the perimeter.....but I've noticed since losing weight the green has become more prominent...like they were when I was a toddler. My husband looked at me yesterday and said Wow! Your eyes are REALLY green today...they look so much bigger! 😍 I suspect it's due to my overall change in diet. An unusual NSV but i love this "change" in eye colour! It really is the little things...😇

Some recent ones:
I'm improving my mobility and I'm able to squat deeper.
A couple weeks ago I was able to move (bend, etc.) much more easily in my tailored work pants. Today I was able to take them off without unbuttoning or unzipping them.
The seatbelt buckle in my car doesn't really dig into my hip anymore.
Split squats and high step ups are getting so much easier.
All my clothes fit better.
Another person noticed and was very nice about it.

well done 👏🏻

Yoga practitioners will get this.
I’ve been in the habit of adding a push up after each chatarunga for the past year to build strength.
Wednesday’s instructor mentioned a particular practice that does two pushups following each chatarunga, so I thought I’d experiment with it this morning. I managed to do two after every flow in a pair of vigorous power classes this morning.
Y'all, I did so many pushups both my batwings are chafed. But I did them, so my NSV this afternoon is its mildly painful to do anything besides keep my hands on my hips.13 -
Wow!!! That is AWESOME!!! GO YOU!!!🤗😊

This is a weird one but I just ran to the store to get M&M's 🥴 I really wanted m&ms and for some very odd reason I also wanted to run so I did it. The store is only half a mile away so it was a pretty easy run. And I found that if I focus on my breathing I don't notice the difficulty so much. And I don't feel out of breath until I walk. Although at the end my legs did start to hurt a little.
Also does anyone else feel like they have lost weight at the end of every winter even if they haven't? I think it is because I am wearing things that show my skin and I am only wearing one layer of pants now. It was disappointing when I got on the S and nothing had changed. But then I reminded myself that it is par for the course with spring.

@RuthanneBowers i had little sugary sour cream donuts every day for a month when I visited family overseas.
But the deal I made with myself was, I had to walk to the bakery and back to get them.
So I get it with your M&Ms. I got to where I actually enjoyed the walks.
My own NSV: today while scrolling up and down to review my diary, I noticed my “streak”.
It’s at 2398.
I can remember how scary and intimidating Day 1 was, reaching Day 7 and thinking “no way I can keep doing this”, and day 60 and thinking “OMG, look at me! This is actually possible!”
I wish I could convince people those days will tock along regardless of whether you struggle or fall off the wagon, and that if you just keep resolutely hacking away at them, they - and the weight- will pass sooner than you can ever imagine. That wagon? Those things had a little ladder for a purpose. Sometimes you had to get out and push.
It doesn’t have to be a race because there is no end, and it’s entirely up to you to make it hell on yourself, or choose to make it joyful and interesting.

I was looking for a blouse for Easter, and ended up buying a couple of other blouses for work - size XL. Eight months ago, when I started working on my weight, I was in a 3X (and it was getting tight). I wore one of the XL shirts yesterday, and it was a little loose fitting!
I'm planning on giving myself a wardrobe makeover for my birthday in about 2 months - might even have to go to a size L! (was wearing size 24, now comfortable in an 18, and can fit some loose 16's - pretty cool)

Well done on your progress to date 👏🏻

don’t go buck wild. I went from 2XX, ultimately to S or XS. I thought I was done in the middle and couldn’t possibly go any lower. Once you hit the Ls, the sizes drop progressively faster.
It was fun, but I was out of the Ls so darn fast I didn’t even get to wear them more than two or three times.
And kudos on your success. May you continue and maintain! 😘

As I glibly say to folks who notice the weight loss, "50 down and 50 to go" but I now weigh what I did when I graduated high school 56 years ago!
16 -
I agree I went from 2xs to now where mediums fit easily, and I was so happy that I fit in XL tshirts I bought a ton, and now I wish I had waited. And today, I bought some buzz off (tick repellent) convertible pants/shorts on ebay and they were a large and I was worried if I would fit in them, if they would be too small. Was a large 16-18 where I was sure they'd fit, or was it 12-14. And I figured, well if they are too small I will just have to lose weight to fit in them. Then I realized I am wearing 10-12s, and a large should fit fine. It is hard to lose that mindset.
13 -
My sister said I looked skinny (lol, funny because I haven't dropped any weight for ages) and the shadow of my legs looked thin! weird
13 -
I managed to fit into some skinny high waisted size 12 (UK) jeans that would go past my knees in January!!!

I took progress pics and measurements today. I think I've lost fat from my back recently. It looks and feels oddly flat. Compared to four weeks ago, I've lost 4.75" across 10 sites measured! Slower than last month, but that's fine the scale was doing some weird things last month. I'm celebrating a good bit of movement in the right direction!
Also yesterday my skirt fell down 😂 It was at home thank goodness. But then I changed into a different skirt to go out and still had to keep pulling it up!

Great job you two 👏🏻!

I had a similar NSV to my previous one tonight, only this time I ran to the store to get a bag of beans not m&ms. I am going to cook my parents a pot of bean soup as a thank you and needed beans.
And I remembered an NSV from a few weeks ago. During the warmer months I commute to work by bike. It is only 3 miles and I have an engine so it is really not impressive at all. But both directions have some hills, so that gives a nice challenge. On one of the ways I can take there is a moderate hill and when I started riding again this year I was pleased to find that the muscle/endurance I had built up last year remained. I worked last year to be able to do the hill without bringing the bike's electric assist into the picture. Now I need to work on the hills on the way back from work. I think I am more tired after work and just want to get home so I am more likely to use the electric assist.

I'm finally back at tracking after hesitating a long time (because it is a pain).
And also I've been playing Beat Saber on VR almost everyday (at least 15 minutes up to 45).
Both since end of february, when I couldn't stand my weight anymore. It does show on the scale now, but the NSV I want to share is that I started jogging again last week (I don't do it in the winter months and wait for decent weather to do so) And both times I went, it felt (almost) easy ! My usual trail is about 1,5km to a bridge, then about the same coming back. When I start after winter I usually have to stop on the fist 1,5km and walk the way back… But this time I reached the bridge in one go ! I guess the VR games made a difference on my cardio !
I did walk most of the way back just to take it easy but I bet I could have done much more. Looking forward to this week runs and see what I can do !

I like this so much: For some reason, surprisingly many people seem to think that an activity is only "exercise" or is only beneficial for fitness if it's intense and miserable. No. Misery is optional. Fun activity is the sweet spot for calorie burn, because we want to do it so do it more often. If the activity is manageably challenging to current physical capabilities, it's also beneficial for fitness improvement. You're living proof, sounds like.
Good show!

I had a good dinner. But then, an hour later I got a hankering for something more. At first I was going to have a tortilla with some cheese, salami, and spinach - which is not unhealthy, but more than I needed. So then as I was walking I decided not to do that and to instead have some berries with yogurt. Hopefully I continue this and have the added bonus of actually using up my berries rather than half of them going bad.
My second NSV is the little walk that I had. Recently whenever I take out the trash or recycling I walk around 1 or two blocks after I have put the things in the dumpster. It is not much, but sometimes it is just the thing I need to hit my step goal for the day. And it is good to get out and get the fresh air and be away from screens for a few minutes. I also love to look at everyone's landscaping and houses :) The other thing I have done to boost steps is to write more handwritten checks and walk them to a mailbox (one of those blue ones for the US peeps). I have a lot of checks and I am very odd in that I don't want to just throw them out when they are perfectly good. So I have been writing checks to utility companies and to pay my credit card. And even to pay my parents back for things - my siblings have made it VERY clear that they will not accept checks - but my parents are gracious and don't care either way. The walks to the mailbox and farther than the walks when taking out the trash, but don't happen as often. Hopefully I will continue these little walks as the weather warms up. Although I can't stand winter weather I hate the humidity of summer and find it hard to get motivated to do much beyond the necessary.

I had to retrieve something for a family member that was in a big boat that was out of the water and up on blocks. Climbed up 4 stories of a steep and rickety scaffolding then swung my legs over a rail to get onto the top deck. Then come back down. Realized later that I didn't even huff and puff at all going up that wobbly setup. My exercising efforts are working!

Great job to both of you !
