    Soccer will wait

Feb weather here for a little while. Snug up in a blanket works for me. Meals in freezer dishes in sink I am ignoring today.

Wishing all a good night. Stay safe and sane out there.

    Happy Sunday Y'all~~

Sandy - what a good idea about giving your clothes to the Veterans! Yay you! Bummer about all of the re-connection of your devices. 🫤

Maureen! What a business with your blood clotting thing. Sending hugs. I hope you heal up quickly with your knee. We know you like to be active. 🏃‍♀️

I'm trying to get my act together, but there's been a lot of backsliding…. I feel like Sisyphus and his rock. Tomorrow I'll buy some chicken and a pile of vegetables, avoid the cake I've been craving and soldier on~

Lana, cake and potato chips are my achilles heels. I can't have either around. I will portion out for a bit, then suddenly finish all that is left. So—single serving purchases if I buy at all.

It's a glorious day here and I have been out twice for short walks. Recovery time needed after the "exertion," haha. But pacing myself is even more important this time due to the anemia. I cannot afford to pass out and fall, with 2 fake knees and blood thinner making me bleed like a stuck pig.

I will start logging again tomorrow—don't know my actual weight and don't care. I can tell how my clothes feel—and want the tightness to go away. Goal #1!

    Cheers,

    Maureen

It is Monday again 😁 Time to hit the ground running.

Sara - I missed seeing your post the other day. Sorry about that. Wishing you a good week. Do you know that old expression "back to the salt mines"? My father used to say that. Well, in your case, I feel that for you, it's "back to the mine field". 😳 🤗

Maureen - oh yes, yesterday was a glorious day weather wise. What can you do for your anemia?

I've got an over-booked day today, and Tuesday looks the same. One hurdle at a time, though.

Waves to Sandy and Missy and everyone who stops by later on~

Lana, I’m taking iron supplements—that’s the tx for anemia I guess. I feel fine bc I haven’t tried to do much. I will take a couple months to get back to healthy hemoglobin/hematocrit levels, but clearly the blood transfusion I had gave me a boost in the right direction.

my older sis is an NP and very experienced, so she has helped me set up some dietary supplements too.

It’s another clorious day here and I plan to head out for a short walk. Aiming for 2-3 a day as I build endurance.

    have a good day, all.

    Good Afternoon!

Hey Maureen! Sorry to hear about all the medical issues, but glad to see you again and that things are evening out for you....AND you are taking it easy. Continued recovery!

I was awakened early by a repair crew working on a small sinkhole in the parking lot right outside my windows. They were cutting a cement sewer pipe to go in the hole. Then the landscaping crew started THEIR noise...mowers, edgers, blowers. It's still going on.

I am feeling blah again today. I worry a lot and for me that's normal. And my weight is reflecting it.

I wish you all a great day!

So here we go again, I was around ten years ago, but I gained it all back and more. I'm now at 218 and something's gotta change.

This time I'm more than well aware that I'll be watching my weight for the rest of my life, unless something nasty grabs me. I wanted to get a GLP-1 going on but I'm not sure that's going to happen. I'm in the states and it's a pain in the butt.

Biggest battle, mindless eating because I'm hungry. So I'm chewing a lot of sugarless gum. I don't like it, but it's better than eating crap.

Second battle, exercise. I don't wanna, except once I get going I love it.

Finally, the food database here is amazeballs! However last night I entered a coleslaw recipe and it assumed I was using the provided dressing packet. Now I have to figure out how to fix that, I use an oil and vinegar dressing with a sugar substitute, I didn't eat 10+ grams of sugar!

Things I'd love to know, how to convert soup recipes to instant pot, How (if possible) to see if it had the write match before I add my recipe, Where the time all goes…

I don't expect answers to any of this in this thread specifically.

    Later that same day….

Maureen - wow, you have an older sister, and she is a helpful, wise angel in your life. Good for you! These past couple of days here in NC have been so uplifting, right?

Sandy - Oh, I hear you about the noise outside because that happens where I live. When it gets bad I get in the car and go to the little community park, the grocery store that has outdoor seating in the shade, or the library. Maybe you can think of a few places that you can run away to.

Autumn, if you have mindless eating because you are hungry, then you aren't eating enough of the right stuff. Pile on the protein (with some fat), add veggies, and then get some fiber in there. Beware of having calculation fatigue. Don't run numbers when you are hungry.

One of my favorite hunger busters ➡️ Trader Joe's lentils from the produce section; they come in a vacuum sealed pkg inside a box in the middle of the fresh veg section. Cut a 1/4 section, put in a bowl, and add a smidge of your favorite seasoning…. protein and fiber. Nothin' better in a pinch. It shuts down hunger pangs between meals, and they are quite tasty!

❗️Always cook more protein than you need to eat in that next meal. Have leftovers set aside for emergencies.

Our friend Sara always cooks many portions at a time, and she always has answers on hand/in her freezer.

I started a little over a month ago back on this journey to get back down (again) on my weight. I was at one time getting close to 160 and needing to upsize my clothes again. I was 154 when I started again and weighed in at 141 yesterday! I want to be in by mid 130s by my vacation in June. Some people are starting to notice the weight loss.

Today I overslept. I told myself to bring my bank card (I don't carry it with me to stop the overspending on things I don't need) Two lovely co-workers provided me some options to eat -most of it healthy. I just had an apple and granola bar and only $2.20 in my wallet. You can't really get anything any more with that little amount!

Greetings, all. Day 15 post surgery. No new surprises. That's good.

I'm not logging yet but appetite may be returning so I'm sure I'll start soon

In the meantime, my anemia means I have to be very careful not to overdo. "Overdo" is my middle name, so this has me stumped—I may be underdoing as a result, but I guess that's ok.

I see a couple new folks—welcome. Please give us your "go to" names.

    Cheers, all

    Hey, All!

    Sorry I was AWOL...it happens.

Maureen, glad the recovery is going well!

Angela, sounds like you have some helpful co-workers.

Lana, hope today is a better day for you!

Been worried about my dog....yesterday he was shaking and panting. I know that can mean pain, but I saw no outward issue. The last time this happened, it was because I was sneezing a lot because I was sick (sneezing freaks him out). I wasn't sneezing this time, but the behavior was the same.…panting, shaking, wandering restlessly around the apartment, trying to hide. He is a little better today, but not completely over it. I am going to take him for a walk in a little while and maybe that will help. Plus I have had 2 panic attacks today and the walk will help ME, too.

    Till tomorrow....

Have had coffee with same gentleman and may on Sunday so he can meet my 95 year old church friend.

Weight is staying down I am walking more

Lana is right if I make my lunches and freeze them temptation stays away. New posters welcome - I have had to use phone for this and it isn't pretty

    Good Morning!

Sara, glad to hear you got your computer straightened out!

    🎶I gotta crow….c.o.c.k-a-doodle-DOO!.🎶

I got on the scale and it's official.....I AM BACK IN THE 160'S!!

It was a LOOOONG time comin', as the song goes, but its nice to see again, believe me!

Doggie is doing better...he has stopped the pacing and has started barking at every little noise again. I was enjoying the peace but I prefer him back to normal, of course. I know it was an anxiety issue but I guess he has mostly worked through it.

    Have a great Fri-yay!

Lana, I have a Maltese. He is a good little buddy, but a little on the anxious side. He is back to his old self now. As for shortages, I needed TP, and I usually buy a case so I just got one. As for food, I will have to go with the flow.

It's gonna be a hot day. I have bills to pay...that's assuming I can add the new bank to the payment options on the credit card...so far, no luck. But I'll figure it out.

Hope everyone has a great Saturday!

    Hi All,

Sorry I disappeared again. I’m not so good at getting on here on my phone and the laptop I used to use has died a death. Busy here with my daughter’s 21st party this weekend and lots of people around but I made the decision not to drink alcohol and so stayed within my planned calories. Huge win as previously this would’ve been an excuse to binge.

Weight wise things have been going well with me now at 206.2lbs, lower than I can recall being in the last 15 years but I managed to get one monster of a UTI and am now suffering through the side effects of my second course of super strong antibiotics. It’s miserable.

Anyway I’m going to stop complaining and be thankful that it’s Sunday and I don’t have to go anywhere other than to sort my horses out. Hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning Nikki - Ugh that must be awful with the UTI. I hope that that clears up for you quickly. Wishing you a chill day today.

Sandy - Oh! Maltese are such a sweet breed of dog. Glad to hear that yours is back to normal.

Time for me to get another cup of coffee. We have a gloomy day here today.

I’m laughing at things I’ve missed and then worried, then laughing again.

Hello to Angela and Nikki, if I have those right?

Sara, running over the computer is what got me going. I know that feeling. Enjoy your time with your friends.

Sandy, that’s a great accomplishment! Very happy for you.

Lana, what’s up for this week? Gloomy here today too, so far, though not raining.

I’m working on exercises and starting to walk more. The pain is more in my knee this time than last. For the right knee, it was all hip and back and sciatica pain. And of course my ice machine isn’t as good as it was the first time around. Which is weird, bc it was summer and hotter. Maybe keeping up in those conditions was the issue.

Anyway, doing ok here. Some subtle anxiety about the blood clots, but I try not to think about it. That helps. And I’ve finished 3 books in 3 days and that helps too.

have a lovely day, all, and TTYS.

    Maureen.

    Happy Sunday!

Hello, Nikki! Hope you are over your infection soon! Welcome back!

    Maureen, thank you!

Lana, yep....gloomy here as well, but it was expected. Not as hot today although I have the a/c on to get rid of the humidity. And my little guy keeps me from going crazy....even when he drives me crazy sometimes. 😁

Yep…the walking definitely helps. Just a half hour at a steady pace. Taking today off, though. Just had an English muffin for breakfast. Will have chicken pasta salad for lunch. Today will be watching the Phillies and laundry.

I was at a ladies retreat this weekend so there was no keep track of anything. I am back at it today and being careful. Yesterday I either tossed or gave away the chocolate I have bought over the last couple of weeks. I needed to get rid of the temptation from my place. Telling myself to eat it sparingly wasn't working.

I did weigh myself this morning, but I am not sure I am going to record it as I am also a little bloated this morning.

  • mkculs13
    mkculs13 Posts: 717 Member

@angf0679 Are you Angela? I’m Maureen; hi. Sometimes we have to let the focus shift to other things—like your retreat. And good for you to recognize each weight doesn’t need to be recorded.

A beautiful, cool morning here in Charlotte. I got in my morning walk and a few exercises—no knee pain yet. But of course, I didn’t do the hard ones yet, haha. It’s been almost a full week of low-level pain, so it’s nice to have a “free” morning.

I had my daughter get a vegetable tray for me this last shop, and I am pulling it out to munch in the evening. Seems to be a wise move as long as I can afford it. I’m not doing the chopping myself, so I guess my health demands I pay for it.

Drinking protein shakes and taking iron for my anemia. Appetite is returning if the amount of junk I ate yesterday is any indicator. Guess I’d better start logging again.

    have a good day!

    Maureen

    G'day, Mates!

Maureen, I wish I had the willpower to snack from a veggie tray. Sometimes I will snack on baby carrots with ranch dressing. And I can share with my doggie, sans dressing. 😁 But I am more likely to have something sweet.

@angf0679, A retreat sounds great! And yes, I wouldn't worry about your food then....we all have situations like that.

Had breakfast out with the SO, but it was 11, so I decided to have lunch instead....a turkey/bacon wrap. Only ate half...will have the other half for dinner. Had fries with the wrap and I ate those because I don't care for warmed over fries.

Getting my hair cut tomorrow morning, thank goodness! Summer is bad hair season for me so it's much nicer looking when it's short.

Gonna be a couple yucky days, but rain is needed.

Hope your day is a good one!

    Good morning everyone~~

I have to tell you all that yesterday night, I was cleaning up in the kitchen, and I dropped a heavy dinner plate onto a bottle of car wash detergent that was on the floor (never used in two years—Ha!). The bottle cracked open and it went all over the floor.

There is no cleaning this stuff up! It is super slippery, but I worked at it for a half an hour and then gave up and went to bed. The bottoms of my feet have never been so clean! 😩

I'm sure that I'm going to have to rewet the floor and continue getting the rest of it up. Good grief.

I am grateful that the kitchen flooring is the old, cheesy, sheet linoleum. If it were any kind of tiling, it would be ruined.

Lana, what a pain. I tend to use towels for big messes on the floor, but a cleaning fluid might complicate cleaning the towels! Fortunately, I keep paper towels well supplied here. I recommend cleaning over a couple days so you don’t get too frustrated. I’d do that if I was living alone again.

I spent a lot of today up and about so will be keeping my more swollen knee elevated the rest of the day. I had a brisket sandwich for lunch and haven’t eaten much else—my knee is sore enough I don’t feel like getting up. I can ask my kids, of course. But I’m not really hungry yet. The “pain” diet, haha. It’s not a lot of pain but like my laziness, wins out over hunger or cravings.

    Good Afternoon, All!

Oh, Lana....that sounds like a real mess! Sure hope you can get the rest of it up...that could be dangerous. Be careful.

Maureen, when my mom broke her shoulder, I had to do all the chores around the house for weeks. It was no fun. But hey, what are kids for? ,ha ha!

Got my hair cut....much better to have that gone for the summer. Now I have to color it....that's already been ordered and on its way.

Food has been on track. Weight jumped up a bit but that's not a concern....it will go back down.

    Till tomorrow.…

    Hello

Using tablet I got when I purchased internet w/ cell phone company.

Allergies here are horrible. Skirt season is starting -at least it's not bathing suit season…

Scale is doing well, steps are good. Boss comes back but I have 1/2 day Friday off -high tea at church Sat and I will help set up Friday late afternoon and take blueberry cake and a jar of lemon curd for those who like the combination. I will bake cake after lunch Friday.

Coffee with gentleman and my 95 year old church lady was a success.

Because I can read the print size I hope to be here more often.

Wishing all a good night, stay safe and sane out there.
