Just your comment about the options you thought of to learn the new thing tells me you'll be just fine, walkin! Hugs to you
Today is last knee injection day. A friend from Florida is in from out of town, too. They had a family wedding up north earlier in the week, and arrived in Portland yesterday afternoon. Meeting up for some playtime. Maybe late lunch, maybe late dinner, maybe after-dinner drinks, maybe all three! We will see
On the scale, on Friday I was down 2 lbs, held steady on Sat and Sun, up 1 lbs today. Basically maintaining, for ohhh, about 6+ mos now. Which might sound good but my goal is to lose ;-).
Have a lovely Monday, y'all ! Cheers, mk :)

I still have work to do with my fitness, but I'm hanging in there with my weight goals.

So inspiring, inter! Well done, you! 🥳

That's not hanging on Interbeing, that's smashing it 🤣 Hanging on, is me feeling some of my comfy shirts getting snug. I'm fine with it though.
I'm sure I mentioned my wife switching over to one of the jabs, she's started to do well and eating less at meals. Not in a diet mindset, she's just not that hungry, its only a low dose but seems to do the trick.
Me dropping in and out is my habit/routine, it was a great part of my Morning and it slipped away a bit when I started driving to work and I had a different start to the day.
Was chatting to my Dad again over the weekend and squash came up. I don't have anyone I can play with and I'd love to ease myself back into the sport, it'll be good for cardio too.
Any ideas or advice on finding someone to play squash with, in a way that I can be finding my feet?

u should see my weight chart looks like pac man going up a line going down going up 3 going down 1 , I will take a screen shot.

lol, walkin!
Mikey, I remember hooking my hubby up with a squash partner, back when we were first married, and still living in Boston. I think the best way is just to ask folks. It doesn't matter if you're tight with them, just mention around that you're interested in finding a squash partner, and ask folks if they know anyone that plays. It can be hard to find a partner, and you know there are others out there, just like you, thinking the same thing, they'd like to play, but don't have a partner :). So, just put the idea out into your world. Someone will know someone who knows someone who'd like to connect with a partner to play a weekly game or three with :D.

oops, forgot to finish.
Best of luck to your wife, mikey! sounds like it's working well for her.
Me update: Last weekly knee injection was Monday. Supposed to be up to 5 weeks after last injection to reach peak effectiveness, soooo, another 4 weeks to go, for the left knee, and another 5 weeks to go for the right knee. Here's hoping!
I managed 16,492 steps on Monday!, so mayyybeee it's working? (A friend was in from out of town, spent the afternoon and evening with her and hubby, hopping from place to place in the Old Port, in Portland, ME.) You're supposed to not exercise 24-48 hrs post-injection. I didn't know that the first week, and moved around a lot, knees were 'ok'. Followed the instruction weeks 2 & 3, knees were troublesome all week. Completely freaking flat-out ignored the instruction in week 4 b/c my friend was in town, and knees feel okay-ish, like they did in week 1. I'm left to conclude that the 'no exercise' advise is bad advice, probably due to some lawyer, somewhere, and not helpful at all. lol

@mikeyrowlands I'm not sure about squash, but my wife plays Pickleball and she goes to the Y where they have you throw your racquet in a bucket to draw for partners to play. She loves it as it is informal and she gets to play with a lot of other people.

16k steps is no joke, I've been out and about over the last couple of weeks and I'm nackered. So busy everywhere, 6.30am traffic, public transport busy. The rat race got to be racing.
Good suggestions about squash, social circle wise it would be a good move anyway to just chat to people and ask. I'll give it a go over the weekend.
Been reading dopamine nation, I'd watched some clips but its really interesting now our attention is just drawn to tech and locked in. We are hard wired for the dopamine boost and it's harder and harder to trigger. One of the reasons my routine changed it watching/listening to stuff on the way to work, it goes on as I get in the shower and my earbuds don't come out until my desk. You lose a bit of mental thinking space for creativity and problem solving.
Physical books are the best. Ive gone back and forth over the years, but I'm just as likely to start browsing the store on my kindle than I am to read. When we were away, I only used Physical books and didn't use the kindle at all. So much better.

II was just reflecting on this walking over to the office with no earbuds. It's busy here (Liverpool) there are a couple of Universities and Colleges and its graduation time.
I've always loved studying, learning and reading. I think we are hard wired for it, probably something to do with the brain considerint learning something new, or studying, as being another survival tool.
Somewhere along the line, modern media, social and short form content has replaced this, it isn't really learning, it's entertainment dressed up as learning. Like scanning the kindle store on the kindle, isn't reading, it's shopping.
Tomorrow, ill not use any media until I'm in the car, then I'm gonna listen to an audio book until I park the car. Then I'm taking 10 mins to journal and check in here.

I should slow up on the media, its messing with me too much. I need to go get a book from the library or ebook. I've been walking more but listening to music. Should just listen to the birds chirping. think about what I want to do next.
I'm getting a new boss next week. She is basically someone hired off the street and needs to learn tons about the job. Talk about stressful. She probably won't take it kindly that I have been working most of it for 22 years. I didn't put in for the job because I want to retire in the spring not sign up for a 2-4 year stint.4 -
That's a good reflection walkintofit, if you stop and listen to nature, it's interesting, listening to the birds go back and forth or the wind rustling.
A new boss, its strange when those dynamics changes, everyone has a different personal agenda. It's good when they align but I think that's rare. Good luck with it, hope it goes well.
I might try and get to the gym in the Morning and have my favourite gym breakfast treat. Earn it first of course.

Suppose I should get on the scales there too, I'm not going to be pleased with the number but it will need to go down.

lost a lb this week, maybe stress was the missing 'exercise" . probably not the best way to lose weight but it happened.

My first Renaissance Faire today! It was very fun - we saw 7 live shows. We bought 'season' tickets, so we'll go to all 6 days (Sat & Sun, 2 weekends in a row). If we see 7 shows a day, we might see all the live shows. I counted 41 on offer, but I'm not sure if I got them all!
Sorry about your stressful week, walkin! LOL at the comment about maybe it being the missing 'exercise' tho ;-).

Hello, My goal is to practice mindful eating habits again. I would like to loose 13 lb. for my son's wedding on August 16th. I know I wont be loosing the whole 13 lbs. in a month, that's just unhealthy. I am here because I've let myself make bad eating decisions and want to hold myself accountable for my actions. I lost 60 lb. a year and a half ago. Since then, I have put on 13 lb. I have been consciously eating large portions of food during a single sitting. Sometimes I do this because I don't want to waste food and there's not enough to save for leftovers. Other times, I lie to myself and say "it's not hurting anything". I also have been deliberately eating when I know I'm not hungry. I do this when I'm bored, or upset. I need to start listening to the voices in my head and redirect them towards healthier actions. I will be drinking water before meals to help with overeating. I will replace my mindless snacking with water too. If I feel it is necessary to snack, I will make a deal with myself. I will do 25 sit-ups and then I can have a small snack. I will acknowledge the desire to binge but use distractions to delay the choice to eat. I will also commit to at least 3- 30min workouts a week. Finally, I will check in here to keep track of my efforts and whats working and what I could be doing better. Current weight: 132.8 lbs. Goal weight: 120 lbs.

@walkintofit - First of all, congrats on the lb. loss. I enjoy reading, listening to music and all the sounds of nature too.
@mkksemail - Renaissance Fairs are fun. I've been to one. I hope enjoy all the shows. I'm curious, what is your favorite gym breakfast treat?

@Veta2018 Walkintofit has great suggestions, for me, in working with my Registered Dietitian, she has stressed the importance of meal planning to avoid the situations you have mentioned. For snacks, often use raw veggies, broccoli, cauliflower, or sweet mini peppers are great options, and help with fiber intake. Overeating because of leftovers was a habit that I had, it was hard to break, but I now will throw it out if there's not enough to put into the fridge as leftovers.
A related issue is when eating out, I am always temped to finish all the food on the plate, it is difficult to stop myself from over eating, and breads, or tortilla chips can really put you over on calories. I have to consciously limit theses, and for the meal, my wife and I often split a meal, and if I don't, I ask for a takeout box at the beginning of the meal and split it in two before starting eating to keep me from overeating at the restaurant.
Have a great week everyone!

@walkintofit - Thanks for the suggestions. Enjoy your time with son and grandson.
@Interbeing - I've done meal planning a couple times. I don't always know where I'll be for dinner and have had food spoil in the past. Another friend suggested I plan crock pot meals. Those are some great snacks too. A handful of almonds are the snack I prefer. I guess just because I got to my goal weight doesn't mean I can go back to old habits. Now, I need to lose it again.
I spent too much couch time yesterday and I didn't need to eat the slice of zucchini bread before bed.

The MFP devs really need to work on the issue with post drafts being lost when my phone goes landscape and portrait.
Anyway, well done walkintofit on that weightloss and interbeing maintaining.
We don't really have renaissance fairs in UK. There are a couple but not too popular, so hard to find. I'd love to be able to attend locally, the closest we get is comicon which not really the same culture or experience. Love a bit of fantasy world building and fiction.

I have a mix I made of nuts, walnuts, pecans, almonds. sometimes I have popcorn. I make that too. extra salt.. Do have a bag of mini peppers in the fridge and a big jar of mini dill pickles. 2 or three of those take care of the "i need to eat something rn". Crunchy food needs.

I love that idea of mixed nuts, I had a crash at about 3pm yesterday and could have done with some wholesome snacks. I'll give that a try and prep a little tupperware.
Read this today in Dopamine Nation, uts about the search for happiness through sepf help books and 'systems', I thought it was interesting.
"a Happier You. Inside each brochure were prescriptions
achieving happiness: "List 50 things that make you happi
"Look at yourself in the mirror [and] list things you love
about yourself in your journal," and "Produce a stream f
positive emotions"
Perhaps most telling of all: "'Optimize timing and variety o
happiness strategies. Be intentional about when and how
often. For acts of kindness: Self-experiment to determine
whether performing many good deeds in one day or one act
each day is most effective for you."These brochures illustrate how the pursuit of personal happiness has become a modern maxim, crowding out other defi-
nitions of the "good life." Even acts of kindness toward others
are framed as a strategy for personal happiness. Altruism, is
longer merely a good in itself, has become a vehicle for our own "well-being.".Ive got a meeting with that local charity this afternoon, I promised my Dad I'd speak to them, mainly to hold myself to account to do something positive and because I knew he'd appreciate it. (They helped his when he first got diagnosed with his ataxia condition). Not sure what ill do yet, it'll scare me but maybe I can do some coaching for neuro in business.

I was sad to here about Ozzy's passing. I've seen him in concert, solo and with Black Sabbath, a dozen times. We stood in line for 6 hours one day to get photos and autographs of all of Black Sabbath. He was my husbands favorite singer.
I woke up energetic. I had a great workout and stayed within my calorie goal.

Starting weight: 132.8 lbs.

The week started off good. Towards the end of the week, I made a lot of bad food choices. We had fair food twice this week.
