My HRV chart for the last 4 weeks. Can see a gradual decline which corresponded to decreasing performance for me. That's why I decided to take a few days off last week amongst other things. From Garmin:
About Your HRV Status ReadingHRV status offers an indication of how your autonomic nervous system is reacting to your environment, both physically and psychologically. Balanced HRV readings may indicate positive signs of health such as good training and recovery balance, greater cardiovascular fitness and more resilience to stress. Unbalanced, low or poor readings may be a sign of fatigue, greater recovery needs or increased stress, among other factors.
While variations in day-to-day HRV readings are normal, having a stable, consistent 7-day HRV average is the key to maintaining a balanced HRV status. Small, gradual increases in HRV can also help you maintain a balanced status and may be a sign of improving fitness. HRV readings that increase or decrease rapidly may indicate that you are training too hard and can cause an unbalanced HRV status.
In some cases, HRV status can be improved over time by improving your training and recovery balance, getting regular exercise, eating a healthy diet, reducing stress and adopting other healthy habits. HRV values can vary widely based on gender, age, fitness level and even from person to person.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5624990/My stress chart from last friday. The reason I brought this up was the nice mass of brown lines later in the day coinciding with time I was "on duty" managing a corporate event for my firm, even though it was supposed to be a "let your hair down" event. Interesting how this shows up. I think they use similar measurements for polygraphs. Sigh work….

Nope
My new Garmin is just coming around to giving me an HRV score.
<humble brag> it says 40 and calls that excellent.
Sorry about that: My VO2 Max (according to Garmin) is 40. HRV 7d avg. is 28

You're doing great @CMorning99 . I really am glad that you decided to join this group. Keep up the good work.
@chris_in_cal I don't get the HRV stress number. Looks like you need to use the chest strap, which I do not do. If that's not correct, let me know how to do it.
@Zaxa2021 Congrats on your improvement in consistency!
Way to hang in there and get it done @angf0679 !
@yirara Sorry you had such a hard run today. At least you know why.

I thought I posted yesterday, but if I did, it disappeared. Nothing really to report. Did my normal Sunday Rest Day driveway walk. I did sleep better, with a Garmin score of 77, which is really good for me. I was, however, still pretty tired, so took an hour and a half nap in the afternoon.
Today, mom and I mowed her lawn. I push mowed the trim that she didn't get done while I did the riding part. We started at 11 am to try to beat the heat. That really didn't happen since, when we finished it was 90F (32C) on mom's back porch thermometer and Garmin said 62% humidity, leading to a feels like temp of 100F (38C). We did, however, beat the tail end of a storm and a rain shower.
When I got home, I went down and did a treadmill wun. I decided to take it easy and just see how it went. It really wasn't too bad…I did a walk/run of 2/1 min. ..3.8/4.5/4.0/4.6-5.5/4.0 mph. That made a "run" of 2.40 miles at an average pace of 13:53 min/mile. Avg HR was 127 with a max of 151 bpm.
I am feeling a whole lot better, even with a Garmin sleep score of 59 last night. I think I must have had a touch of something from the kids and fought it off, thankfully.
There's no way I am going to make my goal for this month. I'll do my best to make 60 miles, but even that is going to be a stretch.

Evening all. No run today as weather bomb was making outside untenable. Also, daughter had ballet exam further scuppering my day. Managed a Pilates class as it didn’t require a shower after.
Tomorrow. Rest days are good, right?

7/28: 3 milesTotal: 74/100 miles
All treadmill runs
I did a shorter, faster run last night, adding another 3 miles to my last push to try to get somewhere close to my goal for the month.
On another note, I just signed up for my first half marathon. It is on October 26th. I'm a bit nervous about doing all of my training on a treadmill. I have done a couple of 10k races, where I felt like training was adequate and I ran at the same pace I trained for on the treadmill. Unfortunately, it is my only practical option for now, so I'll just have to make do and hope for the best.

My body is screaming at me today. It's in all over ache. I know it's from lack of sleep, which is from perimenopause. My body just is rebelling at me. I will have to see how I feel at lunch if I try to out or not.

On Garmin they list the devices that are supported with wrist-only HRV.
It might be fun to get a cheap HR strap…I don't have one, but I think the lowest cost ones are only ten or twenty bucks.

My Dr doesn't appreciate my view of running with injuries @CMorning99😄, but the ER Dr's always seem to find it pretty funny.
Thanks for the interesting Reddit link on HRV you posted & also the link you provided @WarmJellyfish & your charts. Interesting stuff!
I'm actually starting to understand it, though I need to look through my stats online, but I'm thinking I'll finally understand what it has to say. That's a great VO2 Max @chris_in_cal, and I can see why Garmin calls it 'Excellent' - you should brag about that!
Nice runs @kgirlhart, @chris_in_cal, @tarun_yadavA, @Zaxa2021, @angf0679, @yirara & @quilteryoyo!July:

Yesterday wasn't a planned rest day but my schedule got all screwed up due to some annoying stuff, so missed my chance for a run before the outside oven turned the broiler onto max.
Today, I ignored everything (after my coffee), until I got my run done.
I like that. I'm doing that more. It's a 'me first view' that I can currently do.6 -
We lost power just as I was about to head out for a run. Without power our shower won’t work so I delayed until it came back on, so it meant short and fast to get it done before the school pickup: both the run and the following shower!

@John772016 good for you! I do my runs pretty much first thing after coffee and a little internetting also. I did manage to get myself to do some runs at lunch when it wasn't steamy out earlier this year. Mostly I find I need to just get home, change and GO…..
Decent 4 miler yesterday. 69.9 for the month. If I had known…… Also have new neighbors moving in behind me so I brought them a small vase of roses as a welcome in gift. I think they will be good as altho they are renters they are already talking about planting trees. :) My kind of folks.

Thanks @kgirlhart . Great run.
Congrats on signing up for a HM @Zaxa2021 . You'll do great!
I hope you are feeling better @angf0679 .
@John772016 At least you are making some of the doctors happy. 🤣 Sometimes life does get in the way of running. You are doing great to put yourself first when you can.
You're doing great @SummerSkier . You can run an extra 0.1 mile today. I hope your new neighbors are good ones. You just never know.
I had planned to get up early enough to get in a walk before heading out today, but I kept hitting the snooze and got up 30 minutes late. I have a very busy day, but will do my best to get in at least my mile walk to keep up the streak.

@John772016 interesting what charts can show us! It's going to get to a balmy 27c here for the next couple of days, after weeks of cold and wet, don't envy you though.
@AlphaHowls thanks for setting up August! Hope you are doing ok.
@SummerSkier you're coming along nicely.
@quilteryoyo I have a love hate relationship with the snooze button.
@ContraryMaryMary yucks when the power goes out, especially nowadays when everything is so electrified.
Yesterday's "recovery" run turned into a semi threshold. "Easy" effort meh. Need to adjust max HR level some more.

@John772016 Best yet is a Dr. who knows you are completely bull$hiting them when you promise to take it easy and adjusts care LOL. I also am learning to schedule time for me. Bought a pocket planner to schedule me time and things I want to do but always seem to get pushed off.
Wrapped up the month pretty well. I am happy with what I accomplished. I thought I would have lost a bit more weight, we will see what happens next month after my body adjusts more to the weights and walking. I am thinking of upping the goals next month…maybe add 3 min of wogging in my walk. I am in no rush.

@WarmJellyfish 17c here with a high of 27c predicted. Most of the US has been hammered the last two weeks with heat, we've been spared. Our big annual event "Comic-Con" was this weekend, and for the melting other people who traveled here it was glorious. 🌞

169.68/160 miles completed for July
I am posting two runs again today. Yesterday I ran 6 miles. It was warm, but felt a little less hot than the day before. I had a pretty good run. I did have an unusual encounter. I was near the park about a mile from home and saw a woman walking towards me. Usually when I see people walking that are not obviously exercising I steer clear of them. I was on the opposite side of the road from her and she called to me and asked if I could help her. I asked what she needed (thinking maybe just directions). She said she didn't know why they sent her back here and she seemed confused and she wasn't wearing any shoes. I was concerned for her but not really sure how I could help. I suggested she try the police station which was nearby. Then I told her I was sorry I couldn't be more help and wished her luck. She continued on her way (not towards the police station) and when I got about a block away I called the non emergency number and asked them to go check on her. I hope they did.
Today's run was another 6 miles. It wasn't too hot. I started out pretty slow but got faster as I went and ended with negative splits. Today's run wasn't as eventful as yesterday's, but I did see a couple running. I don't often see other runners. I had never seen this couple before. The woman was totally bald. I know I don't know everyone in this town, but it is a pretty small town and I would think I would have noticed this girl before.
I did hit my goal yesterday, but I should have one more run tomorrow so I'll see where I end up then.
@Mari33a Great job getting out there and running on your vacation!

WOOHOO! Last run I just could not go on after 3.5km. Today I ran slowly, without any walking for 7km. And did a faster run than my fast runs. yeah, I don't know. But anyway, good and very relaxed one.

Rant…w*f garmin. Was scheduled for a 42 min easy run today (which was already downgraded from an earlier 1hr threshold run) but because of a crappy sleep score, it got further downgraded to a 28 min recovery event which is more like a walk based on the training target hr. At this rate, wonder how I will get any mileage in. I thought I slept great. Garmin can be a little tooooooooo protective. Need someone to kick/light my butt on fire when needed! I think their coach plans should really have a healthy dose of AI in it which is missing…. grrr… I'm ignoring today's plan and just go my own thing 😈

I think the issue with the tech and their ‘recommendations’ is that they are only as good as the algorithms they use. I noticed they tend to pick a certain time period for baseline and then make recommendations from that. And it rolls . I have watched fitbit tell me I was a slug to overtraining to slug during this injury phase and I think we are smarter than the tech. It does not seem to be able to look at long term and short term to put a solid program together which makes sense.

Round the block to finish the month with 174/160km for the month. A good month with good improvements in speed, enjoyment, and finally getting back to goal weight!

I ran 3.75M at 13'28, feels good, but I'd love to leave it all on a vacation for a couple weeks. The long days of summer are calling to lounge around.

Morning all.
I got in 5.5miles at 09'22 pace.
119.5 miles for the month- so exceeded low-ball/conservative target
