    Happy Saturday Morning Black Team!

Sara- holy calorie burn bat man! good work. Your so close to your goal. I certainly hope your not going anywhere when you reach it.

Lynne- Your hair looks great! You look like a 20 something! Good luck at your new store I know you'll do great.

Gonna keep busy today, trying to get the taxes done. ICK! Starting week 2 of c25k today so I am ready for some running. I did week 1 all wrong lol. It reads to run for 60 seconds and walk for 90 then repeat. I had it the other way around. I ran for 90 and walked for 60 lol. Ah well. Anyway have a great day guys. I'll be popping in and out.

Want to know what I went and did? Look at my profile pic! I cut a bunch off, and colored it a ton. I couldn't decide what color so it has shades of burgandy in the bottom, then black on top, then super blonde highlights. I just let my girl do her thing with my hair and it was an awesome feeling! I felt like a princess and my fantastic stylist had as much fun as I had. She wouldn't let me see it and five hours later this is what I end up with. So, I'm a little nervious about a big change but it's only hair...right?

Oooh Lynnie! That is gorgeous, girl! I love it!

oh my gosh-- what a lovely, lovely day here in New Jersey-- Happy SPRING everyone-- wooooooo!!!!

I just had a lovely 30 minute run-- about 3 miles, I do believe-- 6 minute cool down walk afterwards-- can't believe I can do this, and enjoy it-- it's so un- (enter maiden name here) family like-- my family would fall off their China buffet chair if they knew I was training for a 5k.

    Life-- go figure--

Blessings to all, my good teammates-- off to work I go!!

Thanks for the kind words guys, you are all amazing. I'm getting a lot of mixed reactions, everyone is used to seeing me blonde. some love it, some hate it. Either way, I'm okay with it. I bought a beautiful purple shirt with a glittery flowing scarf to wear out tonight and guess what else? I RAN today...for the first time in like... since elementary school and it was AH mazing! Gotta do a little more tomorrow! I envy you, Marla for training for a 5k. Maybe someday, she says wistfully. Andrew, maybe your mixup caused your nipple twisting.

    Thats awesome Marla,

I am really starting to like running myself. Went to the gym to start week 2 of the c25k and as I got on the treadmill I though back to that time a few months ago when I had gotten on the treadmill and ran my butt off until I got to 3 miles. Well I figured, I did it then and I was almost 20lbs heavier at the time....So I just ran and ran and got my 3.25 miles in. No incline ect... so I know its not the same as outdoor running but it felt great. Looking forward to that father's day 5k in June!

Andrew-- I've had a treadmill in the past, and I find that harder to run any length of time, than running outdoors. All I was doing was watching that little LED dot go around the track on the dashboard of the stupid thing-- .01 miles-- ugh-- .02 miles-- ugh-- .03 miles UGH!!!! I hated it. I mean, capital H, capital A, capital T, capital E-- !!!!!!!

It took far more intestinal fortitude than I had to keep going-- a quarter of a mile seemed like 100 miles, it was so miserable!

So, don't DIS your accomplishment, my good man. 3.25 miles, no matter how you slice it is incredible-- again, to be Billy Blanks-- overcoming things we never thought we could accomplish, whether on the treadmill or outside is truly something to be proud of--

Lynnie – I love the hair! You always look so great in your av pics. :flowerforyou:

Amanda – So you’re an equal opportunity peep eater.

Sara – A peep originalist. I agree! :drinker: Were you able to get the whole family to the zoo this time?

Andrew – Have fun with taxes. :noway: Ours aren’t even super complicated, baby, house, done. But it still really stressed Dave out. I’m glad they only have to be done once a year.

You guys were saying about HRM reading. I did 20 minutes of pilates the other day. I assumed it wouldn’t be a lot but I wanted to see what I burnt. But the chest strap must have slipped from moving around because I looked over and it said my HR was zero. I fixed it but after 20 minutes, it said I burnt 30-some calories. In 20 minutes of sitting still I should burn more than that!

I did my spa package today. It included a facial, a massage, a pedicure, and a manicure. It was nice to relax and focus on me. Dave had Harley and she did well (except for the diaper explosion that required her spare pants from the diaper bag). Now my face, hands, and feet are all soft and girly and I have purple toenails.

Bobbi - I'm sorry you're having a hard time pushing through the C25K. *hugs* Think of it this way, though. You're doing more now than you were 3 weeks ago! You've already made great progress!

Its not that its a hard time, its just difficult or different. I have never been a runner, runners breathe, to channel my daughter ,through their noses. Swimmers( that would me) breathe through their mouths. I think once I am able to combine my swimming breathing with running I will do slot better. Just the fact that I am out there trying is a blast. Who would have thought I would start trying to run for exercise at 49? My sisters think of course that I'm crazy . I'm the youngest they are used to thinking that. I'll finish it and get better and hope to do my first 5K in late July/August. Plenty of time:laugh:

    Thanks for the hugs!

Bobbi, I couldn't breathe thru my nose if you paid me. But, it does take some time to get the breathing patterns, and form and all that jazz down pat. It is by no means "effortless" for me, but so much easier than when I first started running with my hubby in 2005 when I was merely trying not to die around the block.

Keep at it... you can do it!

lori- Oh man on both. I hate when I look down and the HR is 0. I feel like I did NOTHING...then I wipe the sweat from my brow! How was the spa?? Oh, I so love a good massage!

    Good morning black team!

Hope everyone is having a good sunday. For the most part I am having a grumpy day so far. Just one of those days where your in a grumpy mood for no good reason. Gonna get the kids out of the house after lunch so maybe that will make me feel better. It's "Maple" sunday here in Maine. Alot of local towns and farms having festivals celebrating maple syrup season so we are heading out to join the celebration. lol Mine will most likley not include the consumption of maple syrup, but should still be fun. Heading to a farm with some horses for the kids ect... Anyway still need to hit the gym later today. Havnt had the chance to work out this morning. Wanted to let the DW sleep in a bit and watched the kids while she got her workout in. Anyway have a good day friends and I will see yall later.

i am really sorry it didnt work for you marla! I keep reading the Banks thread and info on line, and I had the knowledge of a trainer. She said dont worry, be happy...........thanks a LOT!

I am not moving in pounds, but I have lost a size so I am not complaining. I am kinda tired of 138 though and wonder how I will ever get below this number.

    Come here,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,give me a hug.

All right, my friends-- I am here as your own personal motivator today-- for, my dearest black team, I am this day living proof that "that which the mind can conceive, it can also achieve--" actually, to more precise, "that which the mind hath never been able to conceive, it can achieve!!:"

I am an "in the zone exerciser." Don't bother me. Don't look at me. Don't talk to me. Don't ask me questions. Don't interact with me. Pretend you don't know me. Pretend I'm not here. I'm concentrating. I'm in the zone. ( that's how I am in the labor and delivery room to, by the way, it saw me through nine childbirths)

I shudder to exercise with anyone. Hate to run with people. Don't even ask me to take the kids with me.... Nope, not interested--

And yet...for some odd reason, feeling pity for my poor Abby who was so sick on her 7th birthday last week that she couldn't even enjoy her new bike, I suggested (foolishly) that on one of my runs I'd take her with me and she could ride alongside. What, oh, what was I thinking? :noway:

And so off I went this day, for my 30 minute run with Abby on her bike followed by Hope (9) on her scooter asking a myriad of questions-- "How far are we going, Mommy? Can I go on the street? Who was that who waved? Do you know them? What street are we on? Should I turn? This way or that way?" Lest I give you the impression that I patiently and graciously fielded all the questions, I must confess that I told Hope she'd go back home next question she asked-- the zone, remember?

Still-- I did it. I managed the 3 miles with two kids in tow, and walked my last quarter mile with Josh on my shoulders who cried that he couldn't go on the run with Mommy so I'd promised him a walk....on which he promptly pooped out and needed to be carried.

But, my moral of this story friends is-- we're stronger than we knew-- we're all conquering our demons, trying new things.

And yes, Jeannie, I'm working on being content on just my current state-- weight, health et cetera-- working hard and if the scale budges, awesome. I have to believe it will some day, hope it does, but trying to focus on other things. Look how far we've come this year.

Bobbi-- keep going, it gets easier and you'll do that 5k with no worries.

Andrew-- my favorite Batman (except for maybe Michael Keaton-- something about that guy sends me) shake off the grumps, my good man-- life is good-- enjoy those kids, kiss that wife, and stay away from the maple syrup ( Remind me of what I just said, friends, when my next ugly TOM rears its hormonal head-- eh?)

Janie-- your sisters might be teasing you outwardly, but you know you're being a great inspiration to them-- keep running, my friend!

Sara-- spin, baby spin-- hope your weekend is going well.

Shuntae-- don't sweat the last 3 pounds-- you'll get there.

Roni-- your progress, too, is awesome-- so proud of you. How's your son, by the way?

Meaning no disrespect to the rest of my fine team who I wish to shout out personally-- but I have a Caleb at my door and all the others wanting Mommy out of my room-- just had to come here and share my run with you all.

To the best team ever-- have a lovely day!!!!!!!

Marla that was hilarious! Your stories always put the entire visual in my head. I swear you should be a writer sometimes.

I took my little doggie Emma running with me. The entire time I'm saying outloud: come on, you can do this, just a little further, let's see if we can try to run again...come on, come on! The neighbors probably thought I was crazy, talking to the little Chi Chi dog like that....

they prolly would think I was crazier if they knew I was talking to ME!

Okay, its a beautiful spring day here in southeastern Ohio. Sun is shining, birds are singing and I walked 2.5 miles. The distance is no mile stone but to be able to say I was outside that long in this beautiful weather is the key.

Marla, Thank you for the pep talk. I keep going one step at a time. Best I can do:wink:
