Day 78β07/31β145.5Β Tried a weighted vest for the first time on my walk with Kaya yesterday. It turned the walk into more of a workout. It had me sweating! Supposedly great for bone health, strength, endurance, and burning more calories. Woke up with some lower back pain (not sure if itβs from the vest or Pilates), but stretching helped. Planning to use it every other day for now.
Yesterdayβs workout: Core, pilates, leg extensions (for my knees), walk the dog with a weighted vest.

Hi everyone.
I am Dawn. I live in SE British Columbia Canada. I am 5'2" (or 5'3"?) and 64 years of age. I have done a bunch of these 100s now, I have lost count lol. I was sitting at 130 for quite awhile, trying desperately to get into the 120s, but gained little by little over the last couple of years. My "ideal" weight should be between 110-118 for my height, BMI, and stuff. At this point I just really want to get back into the 130s.

Day 78β07/31β 140.8 - missed posting, but logged as usual. Back to alcohol free for at least 5 days. I did make myself a Mojito on the 30th.
Day 79β08/01β 140.8 - No alcohol last night, tonight will be the same. Hoping to get some dropping on the scale happening after my gains from 6 days in a row of cocktails last week. I never have more than 2 btw.
Day 80β08/02β 140.0 - Lots to do this morning, working 11-7 today and tomorrow. Normally split shifts where I get a break to do running around. Not even trying to stop smoking today.
Day 81β08/03β 138.8 - It has rained here, sometimes torrentially every weekend, which is awesome for me because I don't need to water my garden which is a lot, moving the sprinkler from area to area. It sucks for my friends that work Monday to Friday, but it is great for me since I am at work.
Day 82β08/04β 139.0 - It is a holiday here. I have just a 4 hour shift at premium pay, and then have somehow finagled 2 days off in a row for this week and next. Happy dance. 46 days to try to get back down to 130lbs for my 65th birthday. Seems lofty, but I will try.
Day 83β08/05β 138.4 - Eagerly awaiting the arborist this morning. He said Monday or Tuesday, but Monday was a holiday, so maybe that means Tuesday or Wednesday? He is coming to remove a giant out of control lilac bush which has sent suckers all over my front yard, ruining it. I have some things planted that I will dig up before he starts, and put right back in the ground when he is finished. Days off today and tomorrowπ. Lots of weeding to do after so much rain on the weekends. We didn't use to get even one drop of rain in this area from April to October. It has been a deluge every weekend. The Indian chefs that I work with call them Monsoons. Still finding things to reset after power outages.
Day 84β08/06β 140.2 - 2 cocktails before dinner. I have really been off of my eating routine since Sunday. I ate only 1//2 cup of blueberries during the day after skipping breakfast. I did not eat my granola/ yoghurt thing.
Last night for dinner I had a burger. I bought a 2 pack from Safeway. I had been wanting a burger since December when I started working at a place that made their own, which looked and smelled great. I can't remember the last time that I had beef, and I'm not even sure if I have had any meat at all this past month.
My numbers were well within my realm (except for fiber because no granola), but I gained like 2 pounds yesterday somehow!

Day 78β07/31β145.5Β Tried a weighted vest for the first time on my walk with Kaya yesterday. It turned the walk into more of a workout. It had me sweating! Supposedly great for bone health, strength, endurance, and burning more calories. Woke up with some lower back pain (not sure if itβs from the vest or Pilates), but stretching helped. Planning to use it every other day for now.

Thoughts at the start of this round:
My goal from the very beginning has been to lose one pound per week for a total of 12 pounds per challenge. I have never considered that to be too much and I never thought in a million years I would find it this difficult, even at my age and with my health problems. But itβs proved to be nothing but an uphill climb and in most cases, impossible. I am going to lower my goal to 10 pounds per challenge and see if that will feel more right, more do-able. This breaks down to 0.7 lbs per challenge week. I donβt think that is too much to ask of my mind, my body and my spirit! I, again, thank you for sharing my journey with me and allowing me to travel with you on yours. It is reassuring, refreshing, enlightening and inspiring and I am forever grateful.

Day 83β08/05β185.8 β (Trend Weight: 187.5) I did a bit of an experiment yesterday. I ate my largest meal for lunch and a smaller dinner since I usually have snacks later anyway. It seemed like a good idea at the time but it backfired since I stay up pretty late at night in my retirement. I wonβt make that mistake again. I ended up eating an extra small meal which was better than bingeing on snack after snack (my usual choice). Two slices of peanut butter toast later (low calorie/carb bread) and a large glass of water (oh how I wanted the milk!) and I was okay. It managed to stay within macros by skipping some snacks. Still a drop on the scale today as I spent lots of time yesterday on yard work and gardening but I did skip my intentional exercise. I am now Exactly at my weekly goal with one day to go. Iβm making a pork roast in the crock pot for dinner tonight with all the fixings. Iβll have to carefully watch my portions. Iβll try to stick to a light lunch and minimal snacks tonight. Iβm still chasing that low of 185.0 I had recently before some weird fluctuations and my day trip which together yielded me a 3.8 lb gain. I donβt know how long this will take, but I will just keep on chasing it until it runs out of breath! First stop, however, is weekly goal. Please, Donna, donβt self-sabotage!

Logging late today. Yesterday we walked the dogs and I exercised. Then I sat in front of my computer almost all afternoon doing some final planning for our trip. This translates into less movement yesterday.
Today we visited my FIL, who is still in the hospital. Left home at 10am, returned at 4pm. Not much movement there. We did walk the dogs before we left.

As I said yesterday, "You never know what the scale is going to do." These daily fluctuations are normal, frustrating, confusing, emotional roller coasters, but for today, I'll take it. If my body will keep today's weight for the next week, then I'll consider my 140 goal met. I know that is unlikely to happen, because in 7 months of data, I've had two instances in which my weight went down or stayed the same over a 7 day period. Regardless of what the scale shows, I feel great and that is far more important to me than whatever number is on the scale.
Yesterday's success: After returning home I really wanted an alcoholic drink. I got the mix out of the fridge, then sat down and asked my husband what we were having for dinner, I logged the drink, logged dinner then looked at the numbers and deleted the drink and put the mix back in the fridge. My husband asked why and I said, "I'd rather eat real food than drink my calories." I'm so proud of myself for making this choice and especially glad when I remembered after dinner that we had bought a small (more like a large tart) Mexican cheesecake while we were out. I had enough calories to split that with my husband and still not go over for the day.

I went a bit over on my food yesterday, very simply because I forgot to log one of my morning snacks until this morning. I usually log everything as I go along. Moving right alongβ¦
This is very slow-going, but it has to be like that for me. This needs to feel like normal daily life and not like some temporary deprivation. This pace feels sustainable for daily living. I can live with this.

This is how I feel as well. This isn't temporary. This is a lifestyle. A healthy lifestyle. It has taken me 7 months to lose 13 lbs. I gained 30 lbs over 4 years. I'm losing it slowly, but faster than I originally put it on. I'm losing with making very few changes to my lifeβ¦. A few less drinks/wine, fewer desserts, logging what I eat everyday.

Day 85β08/07β 163.8 - After a tough week, I am back on track! The anxiety has passed for now. I had the surgery on my hand 2 days ago and the pain is practically non existent...not like last time. Food is back to normal. I did discover something the other day. I treated myself to an Italian hoagie from Jersey Mike's after the surgery and it did not spike my blood sugar! Now if I ate a cup of potatoes? Different story. Not that I plan on eating a lot of hoagies. Still its nice to know.

Hi everyone.
I am Dawn. I live in SE British Columbia Canada. I am 5'2" (or 5'3"?) and 64 years of age. I have done a bunch of these 100s now, I have lost count lol. I was sitting at 130 for quite awhile, trying desperately to get into the 120s, but gained little by little over the last couple of years. My "ideal" weight should be between 110-118 for my height, BMI, and stuff. At this point I just really want to get back into the 130s.

Thoughts at the start of this round:
My goal from the very beginning has been to lose one pound per week for a total of 12 pounds per challenge. I have never considered that to be too much and I never thought in a million years I would find it this difficult, even at my age and with my health problems. But itβs proved to be nothing but an uphill climb and in most cases, impossible. I am going to lower my goal to 10 pounds per challenge and see if that will feel more right, more do-able. This breaks down to 0.7 lbs per challenge week. I donβt think that is too much to ask of my mind, my body and my spirit! I, again, thank you for sharing my journey with me and allowing me to travel with you on yours. It is reassuring, refreshing, enlightening and inspiring and I am forever grateful.

βοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈDay 85β08/07β183.8 β (Trend Weight: 186.8) I had an excellent and compliant lunch yesterday but dinner was off the charts at a local ice cream place. The Philly cheesesteak was okay and fit into my macros but the ice cream was ridiculous. I didnβt know it would be that large! (ice cream tacos). Had to share with son and still too much. MUCH too much. I was hundreds over on calories, double the allowed carbs. Not enough protein, fats or fiber. Not a good choice but the scale is down today. Either it will show up later or the exercise helped even though the MFP nightly chart still shows me over after the exercise bike session. Iβm hoping Lady Luck is on my side for this one. Down 0.2 today so Iβll take it with gratitude!

@Crochetluvr As a T2D, that is good to know about Jersey Mike's. I will have to look up their nutritional charts to see all the possible offerings that wouldn't do too much damage. They built one about 75 miles from me in a city I often shop in. Nice to have that option! Thanks for sharing!

@Crochetluvr Day 85β08/07β 163.8 - After a tough week, I am back on track! The anxiety has passed for now. I had the surgery on my hand 2 days ago and the pain is practically non existent...not like last time. Food is back to normal. I did discover something the other day. I treated myself to an Italian hoagie from Jersey Mike's after the surgery and it did not spike my blood sugar! Now if I ate a cup of potatoes? Different story. Not that I plan on eating a lot of hoagies. Still its nice to know.
So glad your surgery went well and your pain is minimal.
What spikes blood sugar is different for different people. My SIL and niece (mother - daughter) both have under control diabetes but both must monitor their blood sugar. One of them can eat white rice with no demonstrable movement in blood sugar, the other white rice spikes their blood sugar through the roof. I find this very fascinating.@dawnbgethealthy @age _is_just_a_number Do tell about your upcoming trip!
We are spending a few days in Seattle and then going on a 10 day Alaskan cruise. We booked the cruise before the US election results. I'm a little nervous about going through US immigration. I'm not at all nervous about being in the US. My husband's sister and her husband booked it last fall and asked all their friends and relatives if anyone wanted to join them. Initially we said no, then when we realized how short life can be and we decided to seize the day and go for it.
@deepwoodslady ice cream tacos! I'll have to look out for those. Sadly, ice cream doesn't agree with my stomach as much as it does my mouth. I still indulge in it once in awhile. If we find ice cream tacos while we're in the US, then we'll order them to share.
