@deepwoodslady No I am not from Michigan but just across the river. That's what we say here. I live across from Port Huron. I can be in Michigan at Kroger home of the Better Made in about 20 minutes. Thanks for asking.

@RubyRed427 Thanks for the remark but I hit 65 last May. So my handle is a little outdated. Congratulations on turning 60 soon.

My name is Donna. I am 65 years old and I live in the Midwest of the US. I am 5’ 5” tall. My highest weight was 253. I would like to lose a total of about 100 pounds and have been working on it for too many years (since 2018). I weigh weekly but also on the 1st and last day of each month for a full month’s account.

CHALLENGE STARTING WEIGHT (FROM July 31st): 189.0
CHALLENGE TOTAL WEIGHT LOSS GOAL: Total Loss of 9.2 lbs to land at 179.8
CHALLENGE ENDING WEIGHT: xxxxx
TOTAL LOST IN THIS CHALLENGE: xxxxx
🔜🔜🔜🔜🔜ULTIMATE GOAL: 145-155 (I’ll know when I get there!)
I AM TRYING SOMETHING LATELY. MY GOAL FOR THE CHALLENGE WILL BE 0.1 lbs PER DAY. THAT WILL USUALLY COME TO SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 9 AND 10 LBS TOTAL LOST MOST CHALLENGES. IT WILL BE DIFFICULT BUT I DON’T FEEL IT IS TOO MUCH TO ASK, EVEN GIVEN MY AGE, MY MEDICAL CONDITIONS THAT SET ME BACK AND MY MEDICATIONS. IF I GET BEHIND ON ANY GIVEN DAY, WEEK OR MONTH, I’VE ONLY MADE IT HARDER ON MYSELF AS I HAVE TO THEN CATCH UP. THE SPECIFIC GOALS NUMBERS MAY CHANGE AS I GO ALONG ONLY TO KEEP IN LINE WITH MY GRAND TOTAL LOSS GOAL. IN THE END IT SHOULD BE EQUAL TO 0.1 LB PER DAY OR MORE. I KNOW IT’S A MIND GAME I’M PLAYING WITH MYSELF, BUT IT ALSO FEELS LIKE I’M NOT BITING OFF MORE THAN I CAN CHEW. LET’S SEE HOW THIS GOES!
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

No weigh in until post op water is gone
My Daily Routine is walking 50 minutes. First rehab appointment is in a few weeks.
@walkintofit so happy to hear of your dating journey Also best wishes for lowering your cholesterol levels.
@Bemybestby60 thanks for sharing your September insights and October goals. Best wishes for bringing joyful movement back into your life. Being a caregiver is differently an all consuming experience. I moved my full care mom into our home for the last 9 years of her life. It’s was an absolute amazing experiences to share. In the 9 years I gained 40 pounds and turned diabetic. On my 5’ frame it’s been hard releasing.
Happy October🐌🐌Karen

To stave off hunger don't eat under your bmr. One place I read eat at the bmr. I did lose 5% this summer. The guy who wrote this did it for several months as he had a lot to lose. He had quoted the medical papers to show most people only lost a few lbs on diets and most people put it back on. He didn't want to follow conventional diets. He maintained a year at the time of his posting after doing the bmr eating style. The only thing I changed from his format is that I would eat between bmr and maintanance calories for a day once or twice a week. i would have a meal with friends.
As for any dieting advice I am not a dr or make any medical claims. I wanted to find something that would work for me.3 -
I just realized I did not drink a single glass of water yesterday, and maybe even the day before. No wonder I look so dried out. I need to be more intentional about drinking water. It is absolutely vital to your health.
6 -
I'm with you!!! At 6 pm yesterday I realized I hadn't had any water. I forced down 16 ounces. The docs and rehab experts have recommended 48 ounces. I'm doing my best but could do better.

caregiving is a very tough job! I helped take care of my day and then was a full time caregiver of my husband. It was an honor to help someone through the last stages of their life. It has been almost 2 yrs since he passed away. We were married almost 47 ys. Miss him daily.

Down a little bit more. I added strength training the past few weeks, and I think that helped move the scale. Don’t give up! 💪

Making progress this month. I did not meet my goal of walking during my lunch break. Next week, that will be my #1 priority.
I did meet my goal for having lots of fruit this week each day. I mix fruit with my Greek yogurt.
We also stayed home most nights this week, which saved calories because we cooked basic food.
5 -
@RubyRed427 We also plan on eating at home more this month. It really does save money and calories. I've been looking at lots of new and healthy recipes online and I am experimenting. It has been fun.
I'm slightly under 150 and and am going off semaglutide. I have a one month supply left so I am saving that for Jan 1 in case I get out of control during eating season. Even though I have a treadmill and therefore have no excuse for not walking, I have been a bit lazy. I need to just get off the sofa and walk on it while I watch tv. That is not that difficult! We are not participating in Halloween this year because we have an out of town wedding to attend, so there will be NO candy buying! That is usually when my Autumn downfall begins. So if I can avoid those giant bags of Reeses cups (my weakness) staring at me as soon as I walk into the store, I should be OK.
8 -
@SunnyDays930 That sounds great. I like your plan of saving one month's worth of semaglutide. And it's so nice to be down another decade (140's). You must feel really good. Go buy yourself a new bra!!! I did and it made big difference. (I got it properly fitted at Nordstrom).
Last week was better for me. I got things under control. My top limit is 135 and I'm at 134 this morning. The scale was heading upwards. I had to go back to low calorie and tracking for five days. It worked. I undid the damage I had done. It also reassured me that I can get back on track and I'm the one in control. Not the food!
I love you all. Keep going. Just four weeks to go. Finish strong.
4 -
@faurotann I DID buy a new bra at Soma. I love how they measure you properly. Most women are way off trying to guess their size so it is essential to get a proper fit. I would not recommend Victoria's Secret as they do not have enough sizes and will force you into the highest size they carry (a DD) even if you are actually an H. Splurge on this important essential. This is one area where you do not want to be cheap.
Yesterday I made ahi tuna over a bagged Asian salad. It turned out really good! It could not have been easier. I got the ahi tuna, frozen from Aldis (along with the salad). I thawed the tuna in the fridge overnight. Then I just marinated it for a few minutes (recipes all over the internet) and pan seared it for a few minutes on each side. Delicious and healthy! Today is football day and we usually eat junk I'm going to try to come up with something a little healthier than our usual "deep fried whatever."

Hi everyone, definitely will miss the 10 lbs. mark for this one; so I'm jumping off this board and will try to stick it out for the challenge that runs through the end of this year.
Best to all!
💗Carole

Walea617, no need to jump off this team. we are supportive all the way with the teammates here. I have been all over the board since I have joined this team. I keep coming back here as there is no judgement going on. Each journey is individual and support is essencial.. keep on moving ( I believe any movement counts) , hope you stay.
5 -
@Walela617 I agree with @walkintofit. Sometimes we make our goals and sometimes we don't. However, we do continue to challenge ourselves. I hope you'll stay.
4 -
Agree. No need to jump off @Walela617 . For many of these challenges, I didn't lose any weight. But I keep trying. Have a great week everyone!

I think I am going to take measurements. I did take them in July for the summer challenge. I should have recorded it. It has been a stressful summer and it affects my diet and medical. Have been going to the dr and getting tests ran. Cholesterol is up, and she didn't mention weight but for my height a weight is listed.. not even going to try for that. It is too low for me. I put on muscle and want to keep it. Dr wants me to change my diet to bring the cholesterol down. More veggies. weird thing is I usually crave veggies and I haven't craved them all summer.

Please count me in..this will be a longer goal for me.
August 1st SW 195 lbs
GW 185 lbs
Wow so many interesting posting with alot of insight. I am glad I took the time to read. August 6th 195lbs, August 14th 197 lbs, August 16th 195 lbs
Ok moving back to thecright direction
August 20th 195lbs I had a 24 hour time frame where I gained 7lbs & then lost it. I almost ran out to the variety store to buy a bag of potato chips plus dip. But I hanged on.
August 27th 195lbs. I have been hovering around this weight. I had a few days weighing less. So just keep working on it. Watching my intake.
September 3rd 194.5 lbs A small victory. My 7 day trend is 194.5. I have started to pay more attention to processed carbs. My emotional go to. Feel alone taking care of my dad with Parkinsons with dementia. No sibling support. Thank God for my husband.
September 10th 198 lbs My 7 day trend is 195.2 lbs. Very emotional right now so I head to the fridge & cupboards. Back on track today.
September 17th 195 lbs My 7 day trend is 195.4 lbs. Had a couple of days where I gained quite a bit. Logging my foods. Trying to get in the right place.
September 24th 194.2 lbs 7 day trend 195 lbs. I just read all the posts and quite motivating and informative. Not much to add because it looks like it has been touched upon. The love of chips..mine is Bettermade, to ordering salad. We have our sabatoges. We got this.
October 1st, 2025 195 lbs… I just can't get away from this number. My 7 day trend though is 194.7 lbs. There has been a lot of reflection this month. I have been taking a course for caregivers that take care of family with dementia called Coping with Change. We know caregivers' life change due to taking care of their loved one. I used to be very active at the gym, then couldn't fit this in so started walking on the treadmill at home and now this has taken a back seat. One of the homework assignments is trying to get back to do the things that bring joy in your life and exercising was one of mine. So I decided I am going to do my hardest to bring this back into my life evern if it for 10 to 15 minutes. Enough of my reflection. Thanks everyone for your post they are motivating.
October 8th: 196lbs My 7 day trend weight was 197.3 lbs. Terrible week.

I've been off Semaglutide for 2 weeks today. I have not gained any weight back yet but I have to be very mindful of my eating. It takes at least a full month to be completely out of your system so I expect my appetite to start to increase. One strategy is to continue serving myself my normal size portion, then put 1/3 to 1/2 of it back in the serving bowl or platter immediately. Only after I have eaten and thought about it a minute, might I get more. This really helps me with intentional eating and I would encourage you to give it a try. As I and others have said before, ask for a take home box as soon as your entree arrives in a restaurant and immediately put half in it. You will not need it if the portions are large, like they usually are.

@SunnyDays930 Love this idea for my Wednesday luncheon. When dinning out I always set/visit and mindlessly eat the rest.
Best wishes as you continue managing your health and goals 🥂You are doing great 😊
Today I’m post op 17-days and finally feel good enough to restart my calorie/nutrtion counting.
Haven’t been eating much mostly resting. Still 2 weeks from PT but have increased my daily walking to 60 minutes.
Wednesday is Cardio check up then the following week PT. Open heart surgery is a long recovery process.Minding the medical staff 👍

@200Karen That's great. I'm impressed. All that exercise you've been doing for years is really paying off on your recovery.
We went out Saturday night and I ate too much. If I had asked for a to go box in the beginning I probably would have saved myself over 1000 calories. Then I could have still enjoyed the food the next day. I wasn't intending to eat the whole thing but I did. It's such a simple thing to do and so easy. @SunnyDays930 Great advice. Thank you.
