Hi Zzyyggy. I ordered salmon, garlic mashed potatoes, and green beans almondine for dinner. I saw lemon bars in the bakery case and I had to order some with a glass of iced tea. Sweetie wants Betty’s Peanut Butter-Chocolate Swirl Bundt Cake for dessert with an iced coffee. I might just make some beef stew tomorrow night. I don’t think I have a beef roast for pot roast. The high today was 66 degrees by my thermometer, although the weather app says the high was 69 degrees (maybe at the airport in Monroe?). It’s cooler in the house and the next two days are supposed to be in the 60’s, as well. Our overnight temperatures are in the 50’s, while yours are in the 30’s and 40’s. I have a feeling the heat’s going to be coming on in my house tonight.

It’s a good night to hang out in the Club Room here at the cybercafe. Sweetie says he wants to go listen to some jazz at the cybercafe’s Speakeasy. If you remember there’s a secret staircase by the pool into the underground Speakeasy. To enter it looks like you’re actually going into the pool. I’m still going to the Club Room. I’ll read my book and enjoy my dessert.

Hi Linda, Have you checked out the Cafe's corn maze yet. I'm pooped from walking it this afternoon. If you can't find your way out just send up a signal and one of the boys will come get you complete with whatever drink your heart desires. Igor came with an iced mocha for me because I was completely turned around. For tonight's dinner I'll have a porter house steak grilled to perfection with a baked potato and corn on the cob. A coca cola with that please. For dessert I'm going to have an apple crisp with vanilla ice cream and an iced mocha. Tomorrow I think we should explore the cyber farm on the horse and wagon complete with pumpkins, apple cider, and pick your own apples.

Hi Zzyyggy. I’m really good at getting lost. Truly, I’m a dyslexic map reader and I easily get turned around. I’ll need a navigator to help me get through the corn maze. Sweetie and I made stew for dinner. It was delicious 😋. Sweetie ordered apple pie with vanilla ice cream topped with caramel sauce for both of us for dessert. Viktor said he’ll be right out with a pot of coffee for us and another iced mocha for you. Tomorrow on the cyberfarm sounds fun. Don’t forget the cider donuts!

Today the high was 66 degrees. It was cloudy all day and we should have rain overnight. We’ll see. It was pretty windy today and Sweetie and I were running around the garage trying to chase a hummingbird back outside. Apparently, the hummingbird flew in when it was starting to get dark on Friday night. The Sweetie finished up his chores outside and unknowingly closed the hummingbird in the garage. We finally managed to shoo the bird out. I’m not sure it will survive after being without food and water for 22 hours. Sweetie says the bird will be fine.

Hi Linda, what a work out that must have been. There have been a round of requests on our Front porch forum to check all sheds, garages etc for cats or dogs who might wander in. My question to these owners is why let your pet wander in the first place. I know quite a few are escape artists. I'm starving tonight. We had another gorgeous day out there today and I went out for a long walk. I also folded, and put away 3 loads of clean laundry phew. I just got through doing some of my physical therapy balancing exercises. Once I get started I'm fine. For dinner tonight I would love a Sunday spiral ham with scalloped potatoes, fresh string beans, lots of dinner rolls, and a coca cola. For dessert I'll have some klondike bars and an iced mocha. That wagon ride through the cyber farm was fun wasn't it? Mrs. Marley's offspring are multiplying we'll need to thin some out soon. I'll eat out on the terrace tonight.

Hi Zzyyggy. We don’t leave the garage open unless we’re out there and it’s unusual for birds to fly in, but it happens. I think I’d rather have a bird than a snake. There are lots of black king snakes in our area. We had one on our front porch taking a nap on a chair. I assume he ate one of the lizards that like to hang around and then needed that nap. And we’ve found snake skins in the yard. We do have a couple of cats that come by to visit every so often. Our neighbors don’t let their dogs wander, so if we see them loose it wasn’t on purpose. One day I looked out the back door and there were my neighbor’s two dogs taking a walk by themselves. They apparently had missed their daily walk and took it upon themselves to take the same exact route they take everyday. Fortunately, the older dog had the puppy’s leash in his mouth so he wouldn’t get lost 😲. By the time I got my phone out to call, I saw the neighbor running after them. This neighborhood is a pretty nice place and people tend to stop and talk to each other and we know their pets. The sad thing is there are people who decide to dump unwanted puppies and kittens in our neighborhood. I guess this happens everywhere.

You got a lot done today. It was rainy here and a chilly 63 degrees. Not a bad day for doing housework inside. I got the sheets changed, did some laundry and vacuuming, and Sweetie went to the store. He didn’t get anything for dessert, which he blamed on me because I never put it on the list. True. I figured we’d be getting dessert at the cybercafe. Sweetie says he wants some of Mom’s pecan cake—the one with the brown sugar icing. I think pecan cake and coffee sounds good, too.

I’ve never gone on a wagon ride. Where we used to live there were lots of little farm with farm stands, pumpkin patches, and corn mazes. When we first moved to North Carolina 18 years ago there were lots of little farms, but many of them had been chicken farms and they’ve sold their land and now there are a whole lot of houses that have been built or are being built. The farm stands around here sell produce from local distributors and they are more expensive than the grocery stores. Thank goodness the cybercafe has a wonderful farm. I’m sure the guys will be happy to grill up some lamb. While it’s nice to have pets, on a farm animals, if they are not pets, have a purpose—they either provide sustenance or income. Is it different at the cybercafe’s farm?

Hi Linda, I finally got back into swimming. Went this morning after two weeks of not going. I'm lame tonight, but feel pretty good about it. Tonight I'm craving bacon so I'm going to have a bacon and lettuce grinder with lots of bacon, and mayo, a bag of chips and a coca cola. For dessert I'll have a giant m&m, chocolate chip cookie and an iced mocha, oh heck make that 2 or 3 of those cookies. We had a mostly rainy day here in Burlington. Cloudy, cold, dark and rainy. Took a much needed nap after lunch.

M&M’s? YES! A giant M&M’s chocolate chip cookie with extra M&M’s on the side and an iced mocha for me, too. 😋 Oh, shoot, I can’t remember what Sweetie wanted. Hold on. Okay, he says he wants bread pudding with hard sauce and ice cream.

Good for you for getting back to swimming. Hope you’re not sore tomorrow. Did you go out to the Y in the rain? I don’t mind misty rain, but wind and heavy rain would keep me home. Did you get the winds from the nor’easter, too?

I wanted to take a nap this afternoon, but I was doing laundry and I didn’t want the clothes to wrinkle. Sweetie made chicken, mashed potatoes, and broccoli for dinner. Dinner was delicious. He cooked while I watched the hostages being released and wept.

Hi Linda, no it's too dark that early in the morning for me to walk, and Burlington has some sketchy people running around. I take SSTA to and from the Y. It's a local bus service that goes door to door for disabled, elderly, or anyone who feels they can't take the regular city bus. You have to have your doctor sign off on it, and it's free going to the Y, and City Market, but I do have to pay when I go out of Burlington to the Shelburne Museum but it's only 4.00 for one way. They are a great service, that I hope we don't lose because of any cutbacks. For dinner tonight I'm going to have tuna noodle, and cheese cassarole with lots of biscuits and butter, and a coca cola. For dessert I'll have some sugar cookies, and an iced mocha. I've been craving those. I think I'll see if City Market might have some. They should. I'll eat out on the terrace tonight.

Hi Zzyyggy. Certainly, SSTA is an essential service whose funding should never be cut. Having worked for a local township government, I realized that some elected officials have no clue where funding comes from, how it’s disbursed, or who’s affected when funds get cut. I won’t go into all of that because I came here for dessert. Suffice to say, I have met some very well spoken politicians who are absolute idiots.

I asked Sweetie what he wanted for dessert. He was ready to go to the store and get whatever I desired. I explained that I already had a seat out on the terrace at the cybercafe and Viktor would be by shortly with my coffee and pumpkin pie custard with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. As Sweetie went up to the study with his coffee, he ordered a piece of apple pie topped with caramel and vanilla ice cream.

Hi Linda, I went down late for a nap and just woke up. Now I'm going to be up all night oh well. My cat has the zoomies now as well, and is tearing all through the apartment. For dinner tonight I would love the diner bacon cheeseburger with french fries and a root beer. Francois makes the best burgers. For dessert I'll have some of those giant m&m cookies and an iced mocha. I'll eat out on the terrace again tonight. I didn't go swimming this morning. I woke up and was just so tired and lame from the last three days canceled my ride and went back to bed. I did sit outside and read for a bit today, and then went for a walk. We had a gorgeous fall day today with lots of sunshine and clear blue skies. My cat has settled down now, and watching the geese land on the lake for their nightly rest. It's amazing to see the land and then take off in the morning. Theres a sheltered cove near one of the islands out in the middle of the lake. It's too far away for me to get a good picture but you can certainly hear them, and see little bobs in the cove.

Hi Linda, I've been busy all day, and now I'm just plain pooped. Went for my early swim, did an online grocery order, laundry, and got Covid and Flue shots. The last one was a clinic in the building so I didn't have to go anywhere. Now I'm ready for dinner and a bed. For dinner tonight I'm going to have an old fashioned bowl of beef stew with mushrooms, lots of potatos, carrots, and onions. Dinner rolls with lots of butter, and a coca cola. For dessert I'll have a brownie or two with an iced mocha. I'll have it out on the lanai and watched the sunset. Maybe we'll see the northern lights tonight We'll have a bonfire with s'mores and see.

Hi Zzyyggy. Oh, your stew sounds lovely. We had hamburger macaroni and cheese with broccoli and carrots tonight. Brownies for dessert sound good. It’s been a very long time since I made pumpkin swirl brownies, fortunately, Francois makes them, too. They’ll taste wonderful with pumpkin spice coffee. We had another gorgeous day today.

Did you know Halloween falls on a Friday this year? We could be swamped with Halloweenies, coming in from other neighborhoods. We have well lit sidewalks and wide streets, plus there are no thru streets. It makes our neighborhood safer. I’ve petitioned the Weather Goddess for heavy wind and rain for the 31st. Am I becoming an ogre? Candy’s expensive and, yes, we can just turn off our lights, but then I’d feel guilty.

Okay, I won’t ask the Weather Goddess for rain. I think I’ll have another brownie and more coffee.

Hi Linda, go ahead and pray for rain, and gusts of wind. My street and neighborhood aren't kid friendly at all. The building is, but not the area around it. I'm getting candy, but just for me (talk about your ogres). I had both the covid and flue vaccinations yestarday and I'm feeling it today. I have no energy what so ever, and can't seem to get up and go. For dinner tonight I would love a bowl of seafood chowder with lots of bread and butter for dunking, and a coca cola. For dessert I'll have some brownies again, and an iced mocha. Our local Ymca (My home away from home) is having a swim with the jack-o-lanterns in both pools. It's Friday night, and I'm thinking about going. Theres going to be music and food there as well. We'll see how I feel by the end of next week. I'll eat out on the terrace and watch the sunset. We've been having some gorgeous sunsets here in the real world.

Hi Zzyyggy. Yes, I’ve heard other people say they’ve had that kind of reaction to the vaccines, too. I hope you feel better by next Friday. I haven’t had my vaccine shots, yet. I started having a bad reaction to the shots. We think it’s the vaccines that have egg in them. I’m not sure, but I’m hesitant to get them now.

It’s time for a midnight snack! Viktor and crew have broken out the Halloween candy and I have gathered a feast. There are the cutest Halloween tablescapes in the dining room and lots of baskets everywhere full of candy. Mm, let’s not forget the M&M’s! Oh, coffee! Thanks Viktor.

It might be awhile before I’ll be able to sleep.

Hi Linda, I'm in the mood for pizza and Francois has fired up the outdoor pizza oven. I'm going to have one with the works, chicken wings, and a coca cola. For dessert I'm going to have a pizza chocolate chip cookie with an iced mocha. I'm starving tonight. I'll eat out on the terrace tonight. It's been cloudy and raining most of the day. Now the sun is coming out just in time to come in.

Hi Zzyyggy. The pizza was real good. I’m still nibbling on the cookie pizza, but I need another cup of coffee. Sweetie has fallen asleep in his chair and I’m sitting here nodding off, too. We’re having nice weather so Sweetie’s been working outside. I think he’s worn himself out. We might have rain tomorrow and he’ll take a break from yard work. There’s always more yard work and housework to do.

  • Zzyyggy
    Zzyyggy Posts: 1,539 Member

Hi Linda, isn't that always the case. I don't have to worry about yard work here although I wanted to rake leaves today. We had another great fall day today. Lots of sunshine, and temps reaching 72 degrees higher then normal. There was a gusty south wind blowing though. For dinner tonight I'm going for the Sunday roast chicken with mashed potatoes, gravy, butternut squash, dinner rolls, stuffing, and a coca cola. For dessert I'll have some apple crisp with vanilla ice cream and an iced mocha. I'll eat out on the terrace tonight and watch the sunset again. We'll have a bonfire later, and toast marshmellows

Hi Zzyyggy. Sunday dinner at the cybercafe sounds delicious, so I ordered the same thing. Viktor brought a carafe of coffee out for me. I love how he fixes the coffee just the way I like it. We had a very windy/gusty day, too. It was cloudy on and off and the forecast said it might rain, but so far it hasn’t. We don’t have enough leaves down to rake yet. Most of the leaves are blown to the curb with leaf blowers—not as much raking as we all used to do.

Hi Linda, we had a much rainy day today. It was a good soaking rain, but it is very humid right now. I got out for a walk between storms. For dinner tonight I would love the rotisserie chicken with potato salad, corn on the cob, and a coca cola. For dessert I'll have a brownie and an iced mocha. I'll eat out on the terrace tonight. It's getting really dark out early now.

Hi Zzyyggy. We had a beautiful day. The temperature was in the mid 60’s and it felt much cooler in our house. I really wanted to turn the heat up to 74 degrees or 72 degrees, but I didn’t. It’s after midnight and dinner on the terrace was a long time ago so I thought I’d have a nice cup of tea and a couple windmill cookies. (They never have them at the store.) I asked Sweetie what I should order and he suggested a cinnamon roll! He wants to order pasta with butter and cheese. Definitely time for bed.

Hi Linda, wow I should have come in. I was awake, and reading at 12:00 after a couple hours of sleep. I had to get up to go to the bathroom, and couldn't get back to sleep. I eventually was able to. It started out rainy, wet, and blah today, but the sun came out. I got in a swim this morning. Been puttering, and reading ever since. For dinner I'm going to have a baked potato with cheese and broccoli, cheesy baked chicken, dinner rolls, and a coca cola. I'm craving cheese, and don't have any in the house. I am going grocery shopping tomorrow. For dessert I'll have some klondike bars and an iced mocha. I'll eat out on the terrace again. After the sunset we can star gaze and watch the Northern lights.

Hi Zzyyggy. We were supposed to have rain today. Instead, it was 80 degrees and sunny. Around 7:00 pm it sprinkled, but it wasn’t enough to even hit the rain gauge. Hmm, 🤔 I can tell you’re craving cheese. I saw a recipe for French onion chicken smothered with gooey Gruyère cheese that looked delicious. I could definitely go for that. Add a baked potato stuffed with broccoli and cheese and I’ll be over the moon.

I’ve decided to ignore all the Halloween candy Igor and Viktor have set out and order some Christmas cookies. Francois or some of his pastry chefs made Linzer torte cookies today. I saw them in the bakery case and couldn’t resist them—coffee and cookies for dessert. 😋

Hi Linda, your dinner sounds so good I'm going to have it tonight, but with scalloped potatoes and peas. Lots of dinner rolls, and a coca cola. For dessert I'll have some sugar cookies and an iced mocha. I've had one of those non stop days. Dr's appointments, housekeeper's coming, swimming and grocery shopping. You know what though I love that I can do it all. In fact I had to walk home from the grocery store because I had made my ride for an hour later. At least it's only about a half mile away. My cart was heavy though, but I just took it slow, and thank god the rain took a break during that time. It was down pouring all day today, and we even had a thunder storm. We did get a really good soaking rain which we haven't had in a long time. I'll eat out on the terrace and enjoy the sunset. Oh heck Linda why don't you have both since non of the food here has any calories. 😊

Hmm, Halloween candy and Christmas cookies? I don’t know, Zzyyggy. I ate so much french onion chicken and scalloped potatoes it’s difficult to imagine eating more, even at the cybercafe. By the way, the scalloped potatoes were a good call, but boy, dinner was heavy. My daughter-in-law would call it big food.

Wow, busy day indeed. You are so lucky you didn’t get rained on. I slept most of the day. Not good. I went to bed at 11:00 last night, but then Sweetie came to bed around 2:30 and woke me up and I couldn’t fall back to sleep. This is becoming a pattern. I was so exhausted this morning that I slept 6 hours. I wish I could get Sweetie to go to bed sometime between 10:00 and 11:00 every night. Anyway, when I was finally awake I decided to do laundry. Threw my laundry in the washer not realizing there was a Kleenex in a pocket. I opened the washer when it was done to find shredded bits of Kleenex all over my clothes. I know I checked all my pockets. I did. I ended up using a lint roller on just about all of it.

Hi Linda, I've done that before too many times what a mess. Using communal washers and dryers I have to check their insides first as well. For dinner tonight I'm going to have some barbecued chicken wings with potato salad, peas, and a coca cola. For dessert I'll have a slice of devil's food cake with chocolate ice cream and an iced mocha. I had the real thing today, Starbucks. I took the shopping bus out to Market32 our local super market and picked one up. I some money still on the gift card my sister gave me last Christmas. I'm going to start using the bus again, it wasn't too bad, although I may not go on the 1st Thursday of the month. It might be packed then after the 1st of the month. We had rain again all day so I'll eat out on the terrace and enjoy the sunshine.

Hi Zzyyggy. Mm, barbecue chicken would be so good—Barbecue chicken with hash brown casserole and green beans. I’ve been seeing pumpkin cinnamon bun recipes and I’ve decided I had to have one, even if only at the cybercafe. Mm, delicious. Here’s Viktor with our coffees. I can’t believe how toasty it feels out here on the terrace. We’re having sunny days with temperatures in the high 60’s and low 70’s. The lows drop into the 40’s and once that sun sets it gets chilly real fast. With the colder weather, especially when it’s raining or snowing or icy, the bus is probably the best option. Although at the cybercafe Viktor would make sure you have your own driver. Then again, if you lived at the cybercafe you’d never need to go anywhere else.

Hi Linda, boy did I ever have a lazy day today. After the last two busy days I had I guess I needed it. It's also been raining and cloudy off and on today. For dinner tonight I'm going to start with a bowl of seafood chowder with lots of bread and butter for dunking. Then I'll have the grilled swordfish with baked potato, and green beans with a coca cola. For dessert I'll have some chocolate chip cookies and an iced mocha. I'll eat out on the terrace tonight since I've been inside most of the day. Listen to the birds singing away, and look at that sunset.

Hi Zzyyggy. Wow, another incredible sunset here at the cybercafe. It’s been a wonderful evening out here on the terrace. Endless plates of cookies are my favorite. Chef makes delicious chocolate chip cookies. I like the chocolate-chocolate chip cookies, too. I love the iced mochas, but the weather is starting to get colder and I’m looking forward to cups of hot cafe mochas.

We had another beautiful day—sunny, dry, and 68 degrees was the high. It’s been so dry that there have been fire warnings in our area. It’s fire season. Just like Burlington, the Charlotte area is in a drought, although Vermont’s drought is more severe. We need rain, but I’m enjoying the nice weather.

Hi Linda, we had both sun and clouds today. slept and read for a bit. For dinner tonight I would love a porter house steak with baked potato, salad, and sauteed mushrooms, and onions. My usual coca cola with all that. For dessert I'll have some brownies, and an iced mocha. I'll eat out on the terrace tonight.
