Hi Zzyyggy. The last couple of years you’ve had too much rain and now you’re in a drought. Crazy weather. Hopefully, you’ll get enough rain so that when the leaves start falling the fire danger is low. We had over 12 inches of rain in the first two weeks of August and haven’t had any rain since, but at the moment there’s no drought here. Our cooler temperatures have stayed between the mid 70’s and the mid 80’s and even though the low temperatures may dip down around 60 degrees, our heat hasn’t come on yet.

I really need to head off to bed. I had every intention of going to bed earlier. Sigh. Tomorrow is the first day of my birthday month celebration. We’re meeting the kids at our favorite Mexican restaurant at 11:00. Super early, isn’t it? No sleeping in for me. Viktor promised me that the chocolate chip cookies will give me sweet dreams and I ordered a cup of tea. I’ll sit here by the fire for a bit and read my book.

Hi Linda, Happy Birthday. We had another rainy day here today. Another good day to stay inside and read, although Ramona had the better idea of sleeping all day. The sun is out now chasing all the clouds away. For dinner tonight I'm going to have the spareribs with onion rings, and a coca cola. For dessert I'll have some klondike bars with an iced mocha. I'll enjoy it out on the terrace tonight just remember to send me extra napkins for the barbecue sauce. Maybe I'll go for a swim afterwords.

Hi Zzyyggy. Francois made birthday cupcakes for me. Francois did explain that my birthday month should begin in September, not on August 29th. But it’s my Mom’s birthday and my sister is having a barbecue at her house to celebrate Mom’s birthday, Labor Day, and her best friend’s birthday, too. Every year she celebrates my birthday with cake and she invites her best friend and other people, too. She even sends a picture of the cake—well, she didn’t send a picture this year, yet. If I lived closer to California than North Carolina I would definitely be there for the party. Actually, if I lived within an hour’s car ride I’d be at the party. This year they’re having cupcakes instead of cake.

Francois promised to make enough cupcakes or cake for the entire birthday month, plus three extra days. For today’s cupcakes we have two flavors: angel food cake and devil’s food cake. (Is there a message there?) There’s a choice of icing flavors and some have flowers on them. I like the flowers a lot. This barbecue is really good, Zzyyggy. Viktor assured me that the beef short ribs have the same barbecue sauce as the spareribs. The potato salad and the coleslaw are delicious, too. And no worries—Viktor has heated washcloths ready for us when we’re done. They are so thoughtful here at the cybercafe.

Hi Linda, everyone should have a birthday month, mine is in November. We're having a perfect Summer's day here in the real world. Have been out for a walk, and did some reading outside as well. It was lots of sunshine with a nice breeze blowing, and 70 degree temps. A lot like the cyber cafe. For dinner tonight I'm going to have the Sunday Ham dinner with scalloped potatoes, green bean cassarole, dinner rolls, and a coca cola. For dessert I'll have some of of each cupcake with chocolate and vanilla frosting, and an iced mocha. I'll eat out on the terrace again.

Hi Zzyyggy. Your dinner order sounded so good I ordered the same thing. I don’t eat pork, not even at the cybercafe, but tonight’s dinner was just too good to pass up. While there are still angel and devil’s food cupcakes, Francois made my most favorite German chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream icing, just like my Mom made for our birthdays throughout my childhood.

We also had a beautiful day. Sweetie and I finally made it to Miss Nora’s Salon. I’m defrosting now, after spending the day in the frigid arctic blast of Miss Nora’s air conditioning. And, yes, wore a sweatshirt. Oh, my goodness, I have never in my entire life known anyone who cut and colored hair as slowly as Miss Nora. It might take a whole day to recover. I might even get to bed before 10:00 pm tonight. 😮

Hi Linda, I had a hair dresser who cut slowly as well. Her name was Nora too. She loved to talk, but she did a really good job. Unfortunately she had to move out of state though. She told some of the funniest stories. It's Monday, but it feels like Sunday to me. I did an online order early this morning, and the shopper found everything yeah. I'm still putting the non perishables away. For dinner tonight I would love some barbecued chicken, corn on the cob, potato salad, and biscuits with a coca cola. For dessert I'll have some of each cupcake again with vanilla, and chocolate frotsting, and an iced mocha. I'll eat out on the terrace tonight. The day was mostly sunshine with lots of clear blue sky, and mild temps. Now the skies are clouding up. We are expecting another rainy day.

Hi Zzyyggy. It really does feel like Sunday—whenever we have a Monday holiday it throws me off.

Francois made red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese icing. He says he’s going to make Mom’s pecan cake with brown sugar icing tomorrow and on Wednesday I can have another piece of German chocolate cake since it’s my actual birthday. Sweetie made meatloaf today and it’s delicious. It tasted so good with Francois’ potato salad. Meatloaf tastes wonderful on biscuits.

Hi Linda, we had a perfect Summer's day today out there. Temps were in the 70s and there was a nice breeze blowing. Had Physical Therapy this morning, but hung outside and did some reading this afternoon. For dinner tonight I'm going to have a big plate of macaroni and cheese with dinner rolls, sweet carrots, and a coca cola. For dessert I'll have a couple of those pecan coffee cake with cream cheese icing, and an iced mocha. I'll eat out on the terrace and enjoy the sunset.

The sunset was spectacular here at the cybercafe this evening. The perfect setting for dessert. I ordered Mom’s pecan cake with brown sugar icing and iced coffee for dessert. Sweetie decided on the peach custard pie with vanilla ice cream and coffee. I might just have to sneak a bite of Sweetie’s pie. It’s one of my favorite recipes. I love, love, love peach custard pie. I haven’t made it in a long time.

Thanks Zzyyggy. I went shopping with Sweetie today. It’s the first time in a very long time—years. We went to Costco. It was busy, but not crowded. We each had a slice of pizza and one of their gigantic cookies. I’m stuffed. However, I’m here to spend some time with you and to watch the sunset. Viktor is making an iced cappuccino for me. 😋

The weather was perfect today. The next three days the temperature is supposed to be up around 90 degrees, but then cool down again. We’re all waiting for the heat and humidity or a hurricane to send the tropical weather our way. I’d love the weather to stay cooler. It’s been a wonderful respite.

Hi Linda, we had some pretty nice weather today. Spent time outside reading and walking. I haven't been swimming since my Physical Therapy on Tuesday. I'll try to get there tomorrow afternoon. In the mean time I'll go for a swim in the cyber pool. For dinner tonight I'm craving bacon so I'll have a BLT no tomatoes though but extra bacon. A bag of chips with that and a coca cola. For dessert I'll have some iced mocha, and a giant chocolate chip cookie with m&ms or maybe two of those. I'll have dinner down by the pool.

Hi Zzyyggy. It’s a macaroni and cheese, with broccoli, zucchini, carrots, and chicken, night for me. Probably with too much cheese for me. So is your BLT Bacon, Lettuce, on Toast? I’d want cheese with mine. Now, for dessert—giant chocolate chip cookies with M&M’s? Yes, yes, yes! And an iced mocha, too. It’s a beautiful evening out here by the pool.

Hi Linda, no toast just plain ordinary home made white bread. Francois of course makes the best bread. We had another gorgeous summer's day out there. Perfect temps with a nice breeze blowing. For dinner tonight I would love the fried scallops with french fries, green beans and a coca cola. For dessert I'll have a chocolate vanilla creamy with sprinkles and an iced mocha. Hi Zzyyggy. We had a beautiful looking day. Of course, the high was 90 degrees and the humidity was higher than it’s been recently. At least the humidity was bearable. One more day at 90 degrees and then the cooler 70’s and low 80’s come back.

I ordered a bowl of french onion soup for dinner tonight. Even though it was hot today I really want soup. Maybe I’m ready for fall to begin. Your dessert sounds delicious, I’m sure one of Chef Francois’ minions can make a creamy for me. Might not be exactly the same.

Hi Linda, we had a much needed soaking rain out there today. It came down most of the day so it was a good day to stay inside and do nothing. I did get some reading done though. For dinner tonight I would love a bacon cheeseburger with onion rings and a root beer. For dessert I'll have an old fashion chocolate shake, that will take care of my iced mocha as well. Hi Zzyyggy. Francois made some mocha cupcakes. It is still birthday month and besides, I had a bad start to the day. First thing this morning I made a cup of coffee and then tipped the cup and spilled coffee on the counter, down the front of the cabinets, in the two drawers and inside the cabinets and on the floor. I also splashed coffee all down the front of myself and on my favorite shoes. I’ve washed everything down countless times and I still can smell coffee (cream, no sugar). Sweetie came in and said he’d clean it all up, but I knew he didn’t realize the extent of the mess. I asked if he would clean the floor for me, which he did, thank goodness. I had to empty out the drawers because the coffee was puddled under the liner. What a mess. I swear the floor is still sticky and it smells like coffee. I’ll have to clean it again in the morning before Sweetie gets up. I know Sweetie probably thinks I’m being OCD, but I figure we’ve been married 51 years, he must be used to it by now.

I ordered a plate of cupcakes to share with you and Sweetie. Viktor will be here shortly with coffee and cupcakes.

Hi Linda, I know what you mean with the coffee going everywhere. That reminds me of an incident that happened when I was working as a cashier at McDonald's a million moons ago. It was during a busy lunch rush, and it was a controlled madhouse. A manager was getting orders together and bumped into a coworker carrying a tray of large cokes which spilled all over my opened register drawer, and me. Talk about your sticky mess. My drawer had to be replaced and the area quickly wiped down, and the floor mopped. The manager and I had to change uniforms. Fortunately I had an extra uniform there. The coworker didn't get hit with much of the soda. By the time that drawer was counted I remember that the coins were one mass of stickiness as well as the dollar bills. I still remember my sneakers smelling like coca cola for the longest time blah. For dinner tonight I'm going to have an early Thanksgiving Turkey meal with mashed potatoes, stuffing, squash, lots of dinner rolls, and a coca cola. For dessert I'll have some of those mocha cupcakes, and an iced mocha. I'll eat out on the terrace tonight. It was chilly around here today only in the low sixties.

Hi . Ugh, sticky, cold soda messes would be awful to clean up. Our weather was much cooler today, too. The sun came out for a couple of hours and the temperature went up to 76 degrees, but for most of the day it was around 70 degrees and it was really humid.

Thanksgiving dinner sounds wonderful. I love having leftovers. I know people who won’t eat leftovers, but how can you not like turkey sandwiches or turkey soup the day after? Anyway, I ordered that this evening. Delicious. Mm, mocha cupcakes and pumpkin pie lattes taste good together. Viktor uses real pumpkin in his lattes here at the cybercafe.

Hi Linda, A gorgeous perfect day out there for late summer. Temps were in the 70s. Spent some time reading outside this afternoon, and went for two walks. A nice breeze was blowing as well. For dinner tonight I'm going to have some macaroni and cheese with peas, dinner rolls, and a coca cola. For dessert I'll have some chocolate chip cookies straight from the oven, and a iced mocha. Hi Zzyyggy. We had a gorgeous day, too, although the forecast says ragweed pollen is high this week. Chef Francois made pasta primavera. I like lots of vegetables and parmigiana in my pasta. I love these endless plates of cookies. The chocolate chocolate chip cookies are delicious, too. Here’s Viktor with another round of iced mochas.

Hi Linda, we had another gorgeous day today, and I went out to the museum. I just got home from swimming so it was a late afternoon for me. I'm pooped right now. Hi Zzyyggy, you had a busy day! Sometimes those are the best days. I ordered the bean dip with the chili spice tortilla chips and a burrito deluxe. For dinner 😋. A Klondike Bar for dessert would be good. Sweetie and I both like the Heath ones.

The weather has been lovely here. It was breezy today with low humidity and a high of 77 degrees it felt nice and cool. The rest of week will be warmer with temperatures in the low 80’s, but by next week the highs will be in the mid 80’s. I wonder if the heat and humidity will come back. I’ve been enjoying the mid October weather at the beginning of September. I wouldn’t mind if the weather stays cooler—I love it.

Hi Linda, we had another gorgeous day out there today. Spent the day reading, but managed to get outside for a bit, and even got in 2 walks. I'm still tired from yestarday and trying to figure out if I want to do it again tomorrow. For dinner tonight I'll have a large plate of spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread, a salad, and coca cola. For dessert I'm going to try something different. Francois saids he makes the best homemade chocolate pudding which is probably true since he makes the best of everything. I'm going to have a bowl of chocolate pudding with whipped cream, and an iced mocha. Did I say I needed a chocolate fix? He's also making bread pudding if you like that better. I'll eat out on the terrace, and enjoy the sunset. We had a spetacularkjjjjjjjjinnnnnnnnnnm hmmm Ramona just walked across my keyboard adding her 2 cents. Chocolate pudding? Hmm, Sweetie likes pudding, but he loves bread pudding. I think I would layer my dessert: bread pudding, ice cream (chocolate and/or vanilla), pudding, and whipped cream. Yeah, that would be good. And coffee. I’m ordering a pot of coffee—Viktor knows how I like it.

Sweetie just planted some mums for me and I need to go tell him how beautiful it looks.

Hi Linda, Not only does Ramona help me express myself she helps me make the bed. It usually comes out with a wiggly mound in he middle, and I have to avoid the sharp claws of hers but I never have so much fun changing sheets. For dinner tonight I'm going to have the barbecued chicken with potato salad, corn on the cob, dinner rolls and a coca cola. Lots of butter for the corn on the cob, and dinner rolls. For dessert I'll have some brownies and an iced mocha. Did you see the list of ten desserts Betty had in her email. Those looked good. I'll eat out on the terrace. I really enjoyed the barbecued chicken dinner. Francois makes the best sides, too. I saw Betty’s email. I’d like to make the pecan pie upside-down cake. I don’t have bisquick. I wonder what the substitute would be. Tonight coffee and iced brownies for dessert on the terrace sounds good.

Hi Linda, any pancake mix should do it. For dinner tonight I would love some fried scallops with french fries, and tarter sauce with a coca cola. For dessert I'll have the mocha chocolate chip brownie and an iced mocha. I am in dire need of a chocolate fix tonight. I had physical Therapy this morning and am feeling it. Also my good laptop died, and I'm using the back up which doesn't always work well. I'll eat out on the terrace tonight and take a nature break.

Hi Zzyyggy. I used to use Bisquick for pancakes, but now we just make them from scratch. I googled making my own pancake mix for a recipe:

• 1 cup all-purpose flour
• 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
• ¼ teaspoon salt
• 1 tablespoon butter or oil or shortening

Easy enough. I don’t keep things like Bisquick because we just don’t use it that often, otherwise I’d end up with lots of outdated mixes in my pantry. Now I only buy boxed mixes for when I’m going to use them right away. Hmm, I bet I have boxes of jello that are somewhere between 10 and 20 years old. I’m not a fan of jello. When our grandson was little he insisted that I make jello for him. He tried to like it, he really did, but he couldn’t do it.

I ordered crab salad on a croissant for dinner. Chef Francois made a delightful vegetable salad to go with it. Your dessert sounds perfect to me. Mocha chocolate chip brownies and iced mochas for Sweetie and me 😋, too.
