@200Karen , great to hear of your ongoing recovery! Walking is awesome. I enjoy it alot. U are amazing by doing all you can to improve your health.
I followed your example of getting medical care. I put it off for years(of going to the dr). After taking hubby to multiple appts I just didn't have it in me for getting something done for me. I have 2 tests left to do this week, mamo and bone density.. only issue so for is cholesterol, its borderline so I need to bring it down in the next 3 months and go in for another test, if it does't change its med time.

anybody have ideas on getting cholesterol down?

My name is Donna. I am 65 years old and I live in the Midwest of the US. I am 5’ 5” tall. My highest weight was 253. I would like to lose a total of about 100 pounds and have been working on it for too many years (since 2018). I weigh weekly but also on the 1st and last day of each month for a full month’s account.

    🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷

CHALLENGE STARTING WEIGHT (FROM July 31st): 189.0

CHALLENGE TOTAL WEIGHT LOSS GOAL: Total Loss of 9.2 lbs to land at 179.8

    CHALLENGE ENDING WEIGHT: xxxxx

TOTAL LOST IN THIS CHALLENGE: xxxxx

    🔜🔜🔜🔜🔜ULTIMATE GOAL: 145-155 (I’ll know when I get there!)

I AM TRYING SOMETHING LATELY. MY GOAL FOR THE CHALLENGE WILL BE 0.1 lbs PER DAY. THAT WILL USUALLY COME TO SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 9 AND 10 LBS TOTAL LOST MOST CHALLENGES. IT WILL BE DIFFICULT BUT I DON’T FEEL IT IS TOO MUCH TO ASK, EVEN GIVEN MY AGE, MY MEDICAL CONDITIONS THAT SET ME BACK AND MY MEDICATIONS. IF I GET BEHIND ON ANY GIVEN DAY, WEEK OR MONTH, I’VE ONLY MADE IT HARDER ON MYSELF AS I HAVE TO THEN CATCH UP. THE SPECIFIC GOALS NUMBERS MAY CHANGE AS I GO ALONG ONLY TO KEEP IN LINE WITH MY GRAND TOTAL LOSS GOAL. IN THE END IT SHOULD BE EQUAL TO 0.1 LB PER DAY OR MORE. I KNOW IT’S A MIND GAME I’M PLAYING WITH MYSELF, BUT IT ALSO FEELS LIKE I’M NOT BITING OFF MORE THAN I CAN CHEW. LET’S SEE HOW THIS GOES!

Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

    CURRENT MONTH:

    10/01 – 183.0 ↔️ (Trend Weight – 183.9)

10/07 – 184.8 ❌ (Trend Weight – 184.7) I’m in a real slump. Handyman is finally coming back today to hopefully start or plan a new project. Trying to pull it together here. I’ve been so busy between yard work and babysitting that the house is a mess and I have no energy to change that. I’m usually pretty tidy and organized so this is uncharacteristic of me. It’s probably crash & burn sugar responses with those foods I am not even supposed to eat. Standing in my truth today no matter how difficult the reflection is.

🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃 10/14 -- 181.4 ✅ (Trend Weight: 183.7) I've had a pretty good week that allowed me to string several days together so I could get some progress going. Tomorrow will be disruptive as I have to travel which means lots of sitting and of course, at least one restaurant meal. But I will be back home for the rest of the week and should be able to offset that. It may take several days because, as we all know, it comes on quickly in one day and takes several days to come off. However, it is very do-able. I am staying positive and will try hard to be mindful on my day trip. I'm not going to lie though. I'm looking forward to some flavorful and decadent food.

    Dear friends,

Let's do this! Let's make these next few weeks a success!

What is one new goal this week that you can do to enhance your goals?

Mine is have a "meatless Monday". I'll have to plan ahead to do this. Maybe even make a vegetarian dinner.

My goal is to exercise at least 5 of the 7 days this week. I would also like to incorporate a little fun dancing into my routine again as the weather is getting quite cold and rainy in Northern Michigan and I will have to find more ways to keep in shape inside.

🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃 10/21–10/21—185.2 ❌ (Trend Weight: 183.8) It’s been a horrible week. Two different days of travel (sitting, sitting, sitting and restaurants) has caused HUGE overnight gains. One of the day trips I gained 5.4 lbs overnight! Luckily water retention does pass but the leftover true gain is still disappointing. I also had my monthly book club outing last night that included a full dinner and lots of sweet desserts in celebration of one member’s birthday. Food at the meetings are not the norm. I have a long way to go when it comes to how to make choices or show self-control around foods and offerings away from home. I just love new foods and new recipes and things I didn’t cook myself! Damn, I just drifted further from goal when I had a good chance that it was do-able and that I could possible make up for lost time and hit those 170’s finally! Disappointed in myself!

My doctor said the same thing. Then my physical therapist said that as we age the brain doesn't send the thirst signals as well as before. Google it.

I'm never thirsty either. I'm supposed to drink 50 oz a day. I can't do it.

@fourotann, thanks for that reminder, I will need to set out a glass of water with each meal and or chug it down 30 min before a meal. I want to have better results when I go back to the dr. I need to find a clear water jug if I take one to work. Hard to find a clear one that keeps the water cold. Another crappy thing to happen when a person ages. I was in denial about aging. I can see it on my dr licence. lol… oh ya the mirror!

Please count me in..this will be a longer goal for me.

    August 1st SW 195 lbs

    GW 185 lbs

Wow so many interesting posting with alot of insight. I am glad I took the time to read. August 6th 195lbs, August 14th 197 lbs, August 16th 195 lbs

Ok moving back to thecright direction

August 20th 195lbs I had a 24 hour time frame where I gained 7lbs & then lost it. I almost ran out to the variety store to buy a bag of potato chips plus dip. But I hanged on.

August 27th 195lbs. I have been hovering around this weight. I had a few days weighing less. So just keep working on it. Watching my intake.

September 3rd 194.5 lbs A small victory. My 7 day trend is 194.5. I have started to pay more attention to processed carbs. My emotional go to. Feel alone taking care of my dad with Parkinsons with dementia. No sibling support. Thank God for my husband.

September 10th 198 lbs My 7 day trend is 195.2 lbs. Very emotional right now so I head to the fridge & cupboards. Back on track today.

September 17th 195 lbs My 7 day trend is 195.4 lbs. Had a couple of days where I gained quite a bit. Logging my foods. Trying to get in the right place.

September 24th 194.2 lbs 7 day trend 195 lbs. I just read all the posts and quite motivating and informative. Not much to add because it looks like it has been touched upon. The love of chips..mine is Bettermade, to ordering salad. We have our sabatoges. We got this.

October 1st, 2025 195 lbs… I just can't get away from this number. My 7 day trend though is 194.7 lbs. There has been a lot of reflection this month. I have been taking a course for caregivers that take care of family with dementia called Coping with Change. We know caregivers' life change due to taking care of their loved one. I used to be very active at the gym, then couldn't fit this in so started walking on the treadmill at home and now this has taken a back seat. One of the homework assignments is trying to get back to do the things that bring joy in your life and exercising was one of mine. So I decided I am going to do my hardest to bring this back into my life evern if it for 10 to 15 minutes. Enough of my reflection. Thanks everyone for your post they are motivating.

October 8th: 196lbs My 7 day trend weight was 197.3 lbs. Terrible week.

October 15th: 194 lbs My 7 day trend 195.1 lbs.

October 22nd: 194 lbs My 7 day trend is 194 lbs. Well the shoe dropped. My dad with Parkinsons and dementia fell on October 13th. He has bad days of dilerium. Doing OK but hard to watch.

My goal is to watch my simple carbs since I have no activity being in the hospital with my dad.

@Bemybestby60 Please please take care of yourself while going through this with your dad! I didn't , I placed myself on second seat while taking care of dad and then hubby. You don't want your health to fail or change from where you are right now. Ask for help, dietitian, counseling,, join a gym, do eat better even through the stress you are going through. Pack some fruit to take with u to the hospital, apples, oranges, container of grapes, jerky . whatever u like besides junk food.
Hang in there, and def come here to vent

Ditto on the water. My skin is absolutely parched and I know it is because I am not drinking enough. I am trying to make it more inviting by putting cucumber or some citrus slices in it. My Dr told me by the time you feel thirsty, you are dehydrated, so we need to stay on top of it.

I had my covid shot yesterday and am not feeling so hot. Dr reminded me even if you have had covid before ( I had it twice) you can still get long covid and stressed, "this is something you don't want." I said, "Yes, Ma'am."
