Shakeology?!?

but i am saying from my experience with shakeology! and my research that it is better than any shake on the market!!!
You need to quantify this with some examples and why it was "better". Not just blanket statements.
I swear to the lord of turkey day, asking for quantative proof from shakeology users is like trying to get a hit of crack away from a crackhead.
Thanks!
Don't be ignorant. I've seen the snakeology label. Now tell me, exactly what am I going to compare it to? Name ONE and I'll do the damned research (because you haven't and won't).
ie.. compared to the ON Whey protein + a multivitiman, it pales in bang per buck. Now your turn to actually mention something worth reading.
It goes on forever because Snakeology people can't seem to cough up ONE comparable product. Even though someone has researched "every product on the market". You sell used cars on the side?0 -
I use it and like it. $3.00 a day for lunch is a good deal. Easy, convenient, no thinking about what I am having for lunch. All I can say is that it works very well for me. I have been using it for about a year. I never thought of it as a protien shake, I think of it as a meal.0

I can appreciate an honest answer. I didn't usually eat breakfast but I now take a whey protein + banana + ice + almond milk shake every morning. Not exactly meal replacement but I bet it does help curb snacking. In the evening, if I work out, I'll still eat a dinner (small) and another shake. again, not really a meal replacement but still probably replacing some snacks I'd might take.
My 5lb ON whey is about $50 after shipping. Lasts about a month. That's $1.6 per day at 1-2 servings per day (depending). Yes, there's the bananas and milk but I don't think it doubles the per day price. Plus the whey has much more protein 24 grams vs 17 for the shakeology. 120 calories vs 140 for the shakeology.
I'd say you could use whey protein for a meal repalcement for alot less cost0 -

There are a lot more benefits to Shakeology than a protein shake or the concoction you mention above. If you are interested you can look here, http://www.carldaikeler.com/2011/10/the-big-shake-off-like-comparing-apples-and-tang/. Check out this month’s focus on the maca root, also known as the Peruvian Viagra.
If your goal is to make the cheapest protein shake possible Shakeology is not for you. If you are looking for a quality meal replacement shake you should look into it.0 -
IMHO, the additional ingredients in those shakes aren't in concentrations high enough to make a difference.
1) It talks about Vanilla. I use chocolate flavor. Same
2) Talks about soy protein. I use (obviously) Whey protein. Same
3) Sugars. 1 g. None of the ingredients listed with the ON Whey lists these.
4) Protein isolates. On whey also uses these.0 -

first see my post above. 2nd do you happen to know the dosage of maca that has shown some tangible benefits to humans? it's 6-12 grams daily. looking at the shakeology label their maca powder is part of a prop blend that totals 1.6g, so even if it was entirely maca you'd need nearly 4 servings of shakeology a day to get the min amount of maca that has shown benefits. so as i've said before the throw ins are woefully underdosed and serve no real benefit other then label filler0 -
i used shakeology for a month and i didnt like it. I used shakeology with water and is not that great .
Needs to be mix with other ingridiants to have a decent taste. I will not buy this again.0 -
Lol.
You really aren't arguing anything. I haven't really seen one valid point is the problem. If state why you think it works for you and what is so amazing then it would help!
Seems like you are just trying to sell it to us. We are smart enough not to pay the outrageous price ^-^0 -

Not sure what study you are citing, and didn't intend on getting into a debate about Maca, but according to a study by G. F. Gonzales and associates on the effect of Maca…”An effect of Maca on sexual desire has also been described in normal men treated with 1.5 or 3.0 g Maca per day during 12 weeks in a randomized double-blind trial (Córdova et al . 2001). This is quite a bit different than the 6-12 grams you claim.0 -

I get the same thing when people try to sell me Body by Vi products0 -
To me it's a waste. It's marketing at its best. Those of you who had success with it, I'm confident you could have succeeded without it. Those of you who are trying to sell it...hey good on you for trying to make a buck. MFP is probably a good place to troll for potential clients who aren't as informed. A lot of us here are informed folks and know an overpriced product when we see one.0

I love how the men are all into this post, debating and such. If the debate is over 'abs man' and 'forearm biceps man' I think I pick the abs.0

Ahem. Don't tell me to hush up.
Good thing you aren't a bb coach. Wouldn't be selling anything. Ha
Seriously. Do some research, you seem quite clueless.0 -
I don't know a lot about protein shakes, but I personally like plain ole Gold standard (mix it with unsweetened almond milk plus a packet of stevia, and it's delish!) and I take a prenatal vitamin everyday ( great for women even when they aren't preggo). I told the lead trainer this, and she said that was the best regimen she has ever heard coming from someone who knows nothing about it. She told me to keep it up!! Give it a try, I buy the chocolate. It's $17 for a 30 day supply, can't beat that!0

I think it's a total con, but then I think the whole protein shake industry is a sad marketing ploy. No one needs this stuff if they eat properly.0

I think supporters think it's the end all of programs. If someone mentioned, "yeah I used and lose a few pounds but found out I could do it cheaper and just as effectively some other way", I'd accept that. Stepping stone type of thing. It might be better than the crap meal you are subbing it for, but that doesn't mean you stop being educated about it and find out there's a smarter way than snakeology.0 -

Exactly. It's a junk food replacement that may not be as bad as the sugary cr** it's replacing, but it's not real food. Anyway, in my head, milk shakes are for children. Adults who still feel like they'd rather have one than a proper meal have food issues.
Sorry, I am not actually intending to offend people, but I get really fed up with the whole shake culture. It's so unnecessary. It makes me think people these days are just oversized 8 year olds.0 -
I have to admit though, I use protein shakes in the morning. But it's to help get my protein number up and to curb my cravings until lunch. But I do mix it with almond milk and a banana. But I'm not normally a breakfast eater.
For me, I'd have a hard time getting my protein number up without adding too many calories.
I lift so I try to keep the protein up as much as I can.0 -
I use Shakeology almost every day. I see by looking at this thread that people are getting rather heated about it and that is not my intent (to contribute to any online arguments). I can say that I have tried several different types of shakes from GNC and think that Shakeology is the best for MY needs. A lot of people state that it is too pricey which may be true depending on what your budget is or what you want to spend. I found cheaper shakes at other places but the tastes did not suit my tastebuds at all. That is MY personal experience. I love Shakeology and it suits my needs. I blend it in with ice, milk (or water depending), a scoop of whey and a tablespoon of peanut butter and get a delicious breakfast I know everyone has different needs but for me I love it and that is why I keep buying it! It has given me more energy (I don't feel like I am about to fall asleep in the middle of the day anymore) and I have noticed my headaches are a lot less frequent since I have been regularly using it. I am open minded and whatever works best for my needs I will use. You can get Shakeology through a Beachbody coach if you have one or directly through Beachbody. If you had specific questions on it please inbox me and I'll do my best to answer them0

I wanted to add I haven't lost weight using it mainly because I am at my goal weight and don't need to or want to. I love it and it fits my schedule.0
-
What are your needs that these things provide that other products do not? ie... whey shake with a mild stimulant/appetite supressant? I note that you use milk , P&B and additional whey when you mix. Is taste a major factor? The ON whey chocolate is an excellent tasting drink.0
-
I love Shakeology It's only $4 a serving which is a meal. People don't have a problem paying that for a Starbucks drink or junk from McDonalds.. People need to learn to invest in their health.0

The problem is the mindset that a drink is a meal.0 -

Yes. This.
It's one thing to use protein / nutritional shakes to supplement, but as "meal replacement" it's not so great in the long run.
And personally as a generally cheap shopper, I always get pretty chapped when I see the "people don't have a problem paying that for a Starbucks drink or McD's" stuff. Who does that honestly apply to? People who burn through money like candy everyday?0 -
The one guy that posted a decent reply also puts milk, whey and peanut butter into his. Making it more expensive per serving.0
-
I love my shakeology, my body is totally different with being on it!0

Your body would most likely be that way with alot of other similar/cheaper products also.0
