Lifted truck, they automatically assume I'm compensating for something.

and I'll vouch for you that that absolutely isn't the case.

I have been flipped off by a random kid (he had no hood, jealousy I guess) while going the opposite direction on a 2-lane highway.

    What was I driving?....a 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLK230.

Had to get rid of that car....and upgrade to a 2010 MB E350.

    Fck him!!!

    Superb upgrade! ! !

I am often judged by my car- And that's mainly because most people are unhappy about a certain senario or their current place in time or experiences. SO instead, they dwell on the negative, rather the positive.

So if in our mindset we are looking out for "little old ladies driving Town Cars", we will rejustify our judgment, when we selectively seek and find these people. Totally ignoring about the 10 other driving by that are in Town Cars, and much much younger. We tend to think negative, before thinking positively. A negative experience will always be remembered, over a positive one.

I've loved BMW since I've first heard a 6-cylinder inline engine purr when I was a small child. To me it's a car for _driving_.
You are not a prick for driving one, but I'm the daughter of a mechanic, so I'm biased. :)

I drive a 99 saturn with 276,000 miles on it - what does that say about me?

What kind of car do you drive? LMAO!

I drive a Toyotal Celica, so....not a lot of judgement there. BUT my fiance has (get ready) :
    a 1965 Ford Mustang
    2000 Ford Mustang GT convertible
    1985 Ford mustnag GT
    1983 Ford F350 dually
    1988 Toyota pick up
    1993 toyota pick up
    i swear i'm missing a car somewhere......

anyway, people tend to think w'ere super weathy because we arrive in a different car every time...but it's really because that's probably the only running vehicle we have at that moment....and the next time that one will be broken down and we'll be in a different one......:( i think TOTAL, the cars all together cost us like....under 23,000. the convertible was 10,000 by itself. so...yeah.

You're missing the only one in that actually matters.. the Boss/Mach 1 (Red & Black) that some skinny kid is standing infront of in your pics.

    Nope, that's my fiance....and that's his dad's car. (his dad also has a red 65 mustang, an 85 f250, a 2005 f150,and a lincoln towncar. my mom drives a 2005 mustang :)

I'm always judged by my car. It's a 1999 Chevy Cavalier with a front dented fender and the headlight apoxyed into the hole. The passenger side door gets stuck on the bent metal from the dent (yeah, its a big one) and goes paaaa-POW if you open it LOL It gets me from point A to B and has kept my kids safe since I was pregnant with them!

That says you know how to maintain your vehicle, major props to you! My Acura had almost 300k miles on it when I sold it, I drive about 60k miles a year though.

The BIG DADDY tag has got to be the most hilariously tacky thing...I'd LOVE to see it on the road lol

As a "car-guy" I try not to judge people based on what they drive. I base them on how they take care of it!

I will think less of a person driving a 2012 Benz thats dirty as hell then the 17 year old kid who works his *kitten* off to maintain a clean Ford Escort. People who don't get dents and dings etc. fixed drive me nuts, especially if its ridiculously obvious.

I admit, I do go overboard and wash and vacuum my vehicles religiously, but at any given time you can hop in one of my trucks and it will look as clean as it did off the showroom floor.
  • I drive (for work) a 1996 Ford Explorer with an insurance reclaimed title. It is "seafoam" green in color and squeaks like no other. I call the squeaks my advance warning system for bystanders.

My husband and I share a 2011 Ford Lariat for our daily transportation needs. I promise I get treated so different depending on which vehicle I am in.

Really, I am the same person no matter which vehicle I am driving.

I think at some point we are all guilty of it  We are judged or judge at sometime- not only when it comes to car but tattoos, the house you live in the job you have. Society has conditioned us all to an extent
  • People are just jealous. Plus if you work hard for you money whats wrong with showing it :P My husband and I went through this same bullsh*t when we bought our house because we are the youngest couple in the neighborhood and we bought a brand new house.....Its so lame because before we had our careers we were broke *kitten* college kids that never saw each other, but they don't see that. So when ever I hop in my car and they scowl I like to smile and wave :) In my head I'm thinking you all can kiss my butt cuz I put in my 40+ hours a week!

Okay rant over! Drive that BMW and love every minute of it cuz I'm sure u worked hard for it!!!!!!

    Yes. Many cars have stigma.

That said, I'm a hypocrite. I instantly dislike anyone with a Prius.

I've never judged based on vehicles and "nicer" vehicles don't tend to impress me much. For a few years, I was living in a wealthy area (my first out-of-college job, so definitely was not my demographic) and literally I would pull up at stop lights beside Lamborghinis, Ferraris, etc. Driving a BMW or Mercedes in that area was like driving a minivan. All it meant to me was that they had either a better job or were in bigger debt than I was.

As long as there aren't any testicles hanging from it, you're good.

I HATE these with a virulent passion. So tacky and trashy.

I've had people make a few comments about my higher end SUV. But really, it's just a mom-mobile that schlepps the kids around, and smells like the horse barn. It's decidedly not fancy at all. Buy a vehicle a year old, let someone else take the depreciation hit, and you can get a nearly new BMW/Audi/Lexus/etc for the same price as a new Chevy or Ford.

to the OP: darling, you enjoy that BMW :) my cousin had one and it was perfectly lovely, just not my taste (as you can see, my taste is more the "hear them coming down the road because of very souped up engines" type) Now, i judge Dodge and Chevrolet drivers because for some reason in this part of Texas, THOSE are the ones that nearly run my car off the road because i guess the lines they paint on highways is just a suggestion. :/

I'm sorry she was like that. Probably just having a crappy day and needed somebody to throw it on

One of you please come detail my car. I can't reach the top of it and it's got this gnarly dirt racing stripe. Also? I take my three shedding dogs with me EVERYWHERE and i could make another dog out of the hair in my back seat. :(

It never even occurred to me to judge people based on what they drive. I should probably start. Consider yourselves allllllll judged. There, I feel better about myself now. And my awesome 1994 powder blue Cadillac, lol! :) Totally a grandma car, but I'd like to think I still rock it.

Disclaimer: I'm sarcastic. I didn't really judge you.

Lifted 93 jeep cherokee, snorkle, all terrain tires (it's a daily driver so muds would totally wear out way too quickly!!)
.........has "deathproof" sticker on hood as well as says Deathproof on back window.

I'm not really sure what people think when they see me... but I've had several butch girls come up to me while pumping gas and complementing my vehicle

I have a 93 Grand Cherokee.. man I love the **** out of that thing. I just bought it a few months ago and it still needs some work, but it sounds like we have the same idea about what our 93's are for. :)

  • Has anyone else been prejudged because of their car, what was your scenario?

I once took my bosses Mercedes out to pick up an ice cream cake for our VP's bday. I had to drive all over downtown boston right as everyone was coming in for the sox game. The traffic was horrendous, the cake was melting...

Anyhow, the light turns green and this woman and her husband just walk right out in front of me. I laid on the horn, she screamed "you snobby b!tch" and kicked the front end of the car :(

I live in Boston, and I'm willing to bet that they would've said that no matter what care you were driving ;)

I drove a 1994 Toyota Corolla until this August with 180k miles. My parents bought it for me when I was 17 and now I'm 26...yikes! People definitely took advantage of me on the road and CONSTANTLY cut me off. My husband always jokes that my car had a target on it. Being an aggressive Boston driver, I never stood for it!
I now drive a 2011 Accord that I freaking love. I think I sort of fade into the background now, though, since every 3rd car on the road is an Accord.
