Shakeology?!?

meh.
P90x is okay - I've done the whole program before.
Shakeology is a bit pricey.
Things I would recommend Fish oil, a cheap multiple vitamin, Green tea, and coffee!
Do intake more than that -- sure like BCAA which is a bit pricey and can be argued for or against.
Always be willing to challenge your initial conceptions (nutriton/exercise approach) and you'll get further!
After all - one is an expert only cater they've made mistakes! It's called experience..0 -
I never really knew what Shakeology was before this thread. Now I know all I need to.Funny how so many beachbody zealots and coaches think it's "bashing" when people challenge their statements and answers.
This. From page one people were getting emotional and personal when someone said they didn't like the program. They admonished that people be respectful. To what? Some meal replacement drink? If the product you're pushing can't take a little criticism there's clearly something you're trying to hide.
Then I read it was a MLM. Scam. Period. Lump it in with Amway and all the rest. Good people being taken advantage of by slick marketing at high prices. There's no such thing as a reputable MLM.0 -
I am a Beachbody Coach but not that active but to get the discount. I like the Shakeology because it is a good supplement for me when I need a snake or I am craving those chocolate milkshakes. It does help with regularity and increasing your energy levels. I think everyone had respectable opinions. It is a little pricey, but you have to do what is best for you overall. Good luck!! :-)0

Right. Just hand over your money, ask no questions, praise the product and no one gets hurt!0 -
For as much as Shakeology costs, I think people would have to be pretty dumb to just blindly follow the 'coaches' advice (aka Sales Pitch) without questioning why it's so costly and what makes it better than other alternatives.0

if you wanted a comparable product with comparable ingredients to shakeology
http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/nw/al.html ($.50/serving)
http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/opt/whey.html ($.66/serving)
One reason I use chocolate Shakeology is because I simply prefer the taste of it over many protein powders available. (Price does NOT make a difference for me and will not make me not buy it, btw). Can you comment on how these products taste compared to other protein powders? If I tried it, I would most likely get something that I can just exchange the chocolate Shakeology for. I noticed that the multi tastes like citrus unless I get a pill...which I don't want to do since i have difficulty taking pills. I suppose I could add flax seed to the protein and some PB to make it taste similar to the Shakeology and then take the citrus multi like a glass of flavored water?
Anyway...most protein powders I have tried taste so chalky. What's this one honestly like? And what's the citrus taste like for the multi?0 -

personally i wouldn't use that multi as i don't like the profile of it (inferior forms of vits and minerals), but when compared to ShakeO it is pretty damn close to it. As for the taste of Optimum i know a ton of people love them and swear by them but i prefer Myofusion, Trutein and XF Ultra peptide 2.0, all which taste awesome just mixed in water0 -

I can't speak for everyone obviously, but I simply prefer the taste as noted above over protein powders. Cost doesn't make much difference to me cause I can easily afford it, so even though I would like to pay less, I don't mind paying the price since it is easy to fit in my budget. Also, those answers that you stated are none that I have ever given. I have simply been more "regular" and less bloated since adding it to my diet (not even sure why since it doesn't have much fiber, but hey, it works for me), I don't crave sweets nearly as much while taking it, and it has helped to reduce my cholesterol levels. I get them checked once a year and I have honestly seen a drastic reduction in cholesterol after using it. So, I guess the generic answer would be "it's healthy" but since my lab work has been better at the doctor for many different things, I have specific reasons to believe that is is healthy. I changed my diet and exercise back in 2007 and have been eating that way since...so I have seen changes the whole time, but the biggest change happened in 2009 when I started with Shakeology (I used to use just a protein powder and multi, btw) and I took them out in exchange for Shakeology. My cholesterol had been going down about 10-15 points each year, and then that year it went down a little more than 30 points. That was the ONLY change in my diet.
I also believe that most people who use Shakeology are probably just afraid of threads like this simply because there are some that go around saying what we use is "crap" and a "waste of money" without telling us why. So, the generic answers come from both sides. I listen to both sides and learn from both sides...and prefer to not argue with either. :flowerforyou:0 -
your right kinda lost there. hee hee no shame. This seems to be true
Robbie i responded to the quoted post in length, do you have any comment on that? Or maybe you can tell me why ShakeO is so great in your own words and not just marketing hype?
Asking a lot here Acg!
First she needs to figure out how the quote tags work.0 -
Watch the Dr. OZ episodes if you want some good REAL evidence of what works. He does a good job of looking at all products and researching their value. He has also had many Beachbody/Shakeology interviews you can watch to make some comparisons. I loved when he had Montel Williams on with another product and while not disclaiming the product Montel endorsed, was able to show really good information from varying sources to help you make a decision on the value of Safflower as a weight loss product.0

Dr Oz is a good source of information?

It's delicious that's for sure. I wanted it for years but being the deal hunter I am I wouldn’t bring myself to spend $135 (that’s with free shipping too, yikes!) for a 1 month supply when my regular protein power is about $30 for over 2 months so I got it this year for Christmas from my parents.
I only use it 1x a week to savour it. It really is the same as taking a multivitamin but has great marketing. Just like Apple, it's pretty and fun but overpriced for what it does0 -

Brand new member here, I am very glad I joined. Being a wide-eyed newbie, it was difficult to justify the costs of Shakeology, so I did not. I am still continuing to study up on the product and competitors. I will not buy shakeology. They seem to market it as a replacement for a meal and I do not have that aspiration.
I found out about shakeology though all of the coaches that post "unbiased" videos on youtube and marketed it as a Post workout shake.
I hate reading threads where someone throws a random curveball, however, this thread has been going back and forth, and, at this point, is pretty ridiculous. So please, no shakes or mistakes, what is a POST workout suppliment I can take/should take? I am, admittedly, someone who uses P90X, I run 3 miles a day or every other day, and I lift outside of P90X. My goal is to tone up and gain a little bit of muscle. I also take Jack3d for my pre workout suppliment. I am working on my eating habbits as I have a difficult work schedule that makes eating right somewhat of a challenge (Hence why I began looking at suppliments).
I have looked at products like 100% whey gold standard and Insu-Pro V2. Of those two, which would be better as a Post workout suppliment for me? I would prefer to mix with water, over milk, if the two options above can be stomached with just water.
I am also looking at multivitamins if anyone could point me at some good general use products. A PM will work if you feel the thread will just be further derailed but I felt with some of the ridiculous comments that a real question that serves benefit is worth asking. Thanks for any help and I am enjoying the wealth of information on these forums.0 -
I do and I love it. In fact right now I am doing a cleanse. People just assume it is a protein drink it is so much more then that. and in MY OPINION there is no comparrison when it comes to taste . People think it also cost alot but when you break it down it really does not. Since taking it I have more energy, have lost the last few lbs I needed to loose. why am I doing a cleanse then to rid my body of bad toxins. I could go on and on about all the benefits of shakeology. My friend started taking no more migraines ,another friend nomore fibermyalgia the list goes on........
Whatever you decide or maybe you already have just do the best you can to get the proper nutrients in your body.0 -
OMG! Who resurrected this thread? Please can I smack you!!0

The quality control that goes into Shakeology is above and beyond what the industry standards call for.

I use GNC Amp Wheybolic 60 Protein. It has the same ingredients as Shakeology just not the price tag. I got mine from GNC for about $50 and its 53 servings if you only take 1 scoop. I love it! Dont waist your money shakeology cost $100 for a months supply. Thats to much money.....0
-
I used it while doing Insanity. It didn't get me any results. I do know people who use it everyday and like it though. It probably depends on diet, exercise, and body type. I didn't think it was worth the money. Good luck with whatever you decide.0

Overpriced crap.
The only people who are going to tell you it's good are
a) people who don't know enough about supplements to realize they could save money by purcashing whey protein and a mutlivitamin
b) people who are beachbody coaches. They make money by selling you the garbage.
See. The two people above me make money when the sell it.
hahahaha yes! this! I can say it b/c I used to be a coach. The price is waay too much for many people.0 -
Since starting Shakeology, I can breathe underwater. I can't fly, yet, but my gliding has improved.0

overpriced garbage.
whey protein + greens supplement = less money, better results, not supporting a pyramid scheme company.0 -
